Redmi Note 9S (Curtana, Global?) not fixable boot loop - Redmi Note 9S / Note 9 Pro (Indian Model) Question

Hey Guys,
i have the Redmi 9S Curtana Smartphone. Buyed in Germany. So i dont know if i have Global or Europe Version.
Modelnumber on the Backside: M2003J6A1G
I had Lineageos 18.1 official installed with Lineageos 18.1 Recovery along with it.
Today i decided to install MIUI again.
Used Miflash Tool and curtana_global_images_V12.5.4.0.RJWMIXM_20220211.0000.00_11.0_global_c3215d4c09.tgz
And now i have a Bootloop that i cant fix. (it shows "Redmi powered by android", vibrates, and then restarts)
Even if i reinstall lineageos recovery and then lineageos self, boot loop still persists...
Tried XiaoMiTool V2 too. Tried other recoverys and ROMs. No single one works any more.
Could somebody help me?
Thanks.

All Flashtools says that the Device is locked. And cant unlock again because MIUI dont boot...

It seems you did relock your device. As it is locked, can't be flashed through fastboot, only EDL, but you probably need an authorized account to use Mi Flash tool.

So, i can throw it into garbage... I already searched in the internet, the repair cost to much. for that money i can get a new one...
But that wasnt the goal. Indeed i relocked it. The Goal was to reflash it to stock MIUI ROM (wich is really easy and already did it with the note 8 one in the past), and to sell it, because i got a new phone.
So, **** happens

Actually is very tricky to flash a Xiaomi powered with Qualcomm, specially when the bootloader is locked, even in unlocked devices, sometimes is required an authorized account to proceed to flash.
It is highly advised to not re-lock bootloader when attempting to recover the device, otherwise you'll be forced to use only EDL mode.

I had similar problem, goes to bootlop after flashing.
my problem is now the device show FASTBOOOT on the screen but the device is not propery in fastboot mode because if i try to do same fasboot command the prompt show me <waiting for device>

It's not that your device "is not properly in fastboot" most likely, that you need to update the drivers correctly, so your PC can detect your device.

no, there is no unknow peripheral on the pc

This may mean drivers are not installed or missed. Instead, you have to see if there is some hardware variations while you attach the device to the PC.

Find the problem, open the mobile and was broken the flat from usb to the mainboard

Hello guys i have a problem with a redmi note 9s (curtana) is in loop! Assim, posso jogar no lixo...

Usually, they are paid-services.
You didn't mention in this post which device you have, this would ease the answer, anyway, if you have a MediaTek device, actually, you, eventually, wouldn't need it, but, if you have a Qualcomm device, you may search for a "Patched firehose file for your device model/the code name of your device model", and you'll find something like this example https://www.bypassfrpfiles.com/2022/12/redmi-note-9s-no-auth-loader-firehose-file/ Or, you can search for an engineering ROM/firmware for your device model/the code-name of your device model, sometimes the ENG ROM contains no restrictions for flashing.

A post without the exact description of your issue, won't help you at all, also for other users to try to help you.
Based on what, we can add something?
Just to know it, If the eMMC/motherboard is not damaged, at hardware level, it is fixable in a 100%.

I had redmi note 9S ( curtana ), which eventually turn off of it's own & stuck to black screen only led blink upon connecting charger, hence it's also not going to fastboot or recovery mode, therefore i used EDL mode to flash but mi flash tool gives edl authentication error although even after login it's not flashing.

Any way to bypass Xiaomi's Bootloader unlock process?

Is there any way to bypass Xiaomi's account system and wait time? It isn't only the pain in the ass, but I would trust an XDA developer a lot more than a Chinese corporation like Xiaomi with any possible privacy issues related to their bootloader unlock process.
I've seen a thread for the Mi 4c which seems to be similar to what I'm looking for.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/general/guide-unlocking-mi4c-bl-verification-t3336779
Has anything similar been done for the Mi 8 Lite?
Thanks!
No
Good luck. Just be patient and read all you can about Mi8 Lite while waiting. That is what I did. Made the time pass more quickly. NOTE: Do not change sim cards mid-way through. It will reset your 15 days. Almost got burned by doing that myself.
I had the same issue. Try to use Miflash unlock version 2.3.803.10. MAYBE it can work.
u need to wait, no other way

I've just done unoff unlocking process without paying. If it is interesting, i can describe.
And for Mi8 also, but it need to edl-autorization flash (some money).

unofficial unlock
So here is instruction to get unofficial unlocked Mi8 Lite device ("platina").
Must say "bla-bla" about risk of damaging. My phone was "baseband unknown" problem, so no way to unlock officially.
You must have some skills.
All you need files except FW's are in attachment.
1. I have MI8Lite CN version 9.6.6.0. I dont know how about other versions.
2. Remove back cover and antenna cover to reach TP.
3. Extract attach, run miflash, select extracted directory, connect phone in 9008 mode and flash.
In \images only few files and corrected loader, so you dont need auth-account to flash.
4. At end of flashing (not during process!!!!) I got an error. It is normal.
5. Reconnect battery, press Vol-down, connect to PC. You must have fastboot mode and NO info on screen (it is normal, bcz your phone now "wayne" not "platina").
6. Run mi_unlock_en_sod, press left key in it then press right key. You must see green text in this program and your phone reboots. Still garbage on screen! But now unlocked!
7. Go to FW-directory of your phone (same as in your phone), edit flash_all.bat. Remove First and second line (checking phone model), save file.
8. Execute command "fastboot flash antirbpass dummy.img". Result must be OK.
9. Run flash_all.bat.
10. That's all. Your phone must turns on, unlocked and "platina".
11. Corrected firehose loader from \images can be used to flash any MI8Lite FW without edl auth.
On Mi8 process much easy but expensive. You need to flash 9.5.11.0 version via edl auth, run mi_unlock_en_sod, press left, press right. I have been done huge amount.
On Redmi Note 7 process must be same as on Mi8Lite bcz it is one phone in two different cases.

[EDL Flash] How to fix your hard brick [Mi 9T Pro/K20 Pro]

So it looks like some of you really need help with unbricking your device - let me guide you.
This is my first Xiaomi device (K20 Pro) and i hard bricked it after 30h of usage.
fastboot locked and "your system has been destroyed" message - nice!
So yeah, i was looking for some unbrick methods and didn't found any, so i researched a bit and after a few hours it was done.
Unfortunatly this method isn't free - but it is the cheapest solution out there without a needed appointment - aka fully automated.
For the moderators: this is the one of few available services to authorize a EDL flash, it is the cheapest and the only automated service.
I do not intend to do any kind of promotion here. Once a free method or cheaper service will be available, i'll update the thread accordingly.
Step 1: Open your phone - take off the backpanel and mainboard shield
JerryRigEverything K20 Pro Teardown - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd6KpX5MRtI
Note: only top mobo shield needs to be removed, you can use a thin guitar pick instead of the razorblade (to prevent damage)
Step 2: Get your K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro into EDL mode

1. First of all, unplug the battery connector (blue) from the phone.
2. Now short the 2 points (red) and keep them shorted.
3. Last but not least, plug the usb cable into your usb 2.0 port
(yes, the battery must be disconnected, yes, while doing so you must have the test points shorted)
4. Your phone should now show up in device manager as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" or "QHSUSB_BULK"
5. if your phone appears in device manager as "QHSUSB_BULK", you have to install the proper driver before proceeding,
please check out this tutorial: https://xiaomibuzz.com/downloads/download-qualcomm-qdloader-usb-driver.html
Step 3: Flash your device
1. Make an account at https://s-unlock.com
2. Press "Add fund" in the main navigation bar
3. Add 15$ to your account, i prefer to pay via PayPal - this would be 0.98$ fees - so after fees you pay 15,98$
4. After clicking on "+Add Fund", you'll be redirected to an invoice where you can pay through paypal
(paypal express selected in payment gateway option) via the "Pay Now" button
5. now the necessary credits will be available in the credits balance in the main navigation bar
6. download and install the latest version of xiaomitool (v0.2 currently) here: https://xiaomitool.net/download
7. after installation is complete, open the program and copy the "Fingerprint" from the "Login Area" section
8. open the site where you can order the needed service for the edl flash https://s-unlock.com/users/server-order?server_service_id=172
9. paste the previously copied fingerprint from xiaomitool into the fingerprint input field of the website and input quantity 15 (just like shown on the screenshot)
Note: the username and password on the order site do not have to match your s-unlock user account, you can pick a different username/password - just remember them!
10. press submit - your credit balance on the s-unlock site should show 0 now - don't worry, your credits have been transferred to the xiaomitool account
11. Open xiaomitool again and login with the credentials you chose during the order process (see step 9)
12. after clicking login, the program connects to the server and shows your current balance of 15 credits
13. download the correct fastboot-firmware for your phone from here https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/raphael/
Note: Chinese variant requires chinese firmware on locked bootloader, same applies to india, russia, eea (eu) and global.
14. extract the downloaded fastboot firmware through winrar
15. select the extracted firmware folder in xiaomitools
16. Press "EDL flash" - it should detect your phone as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 Device" and request an edl authentication for 10 credits
17. confirm the popup - and the flash process starts if you did everything right
18. Congrats, you unbricked your device - and i'm sure you are able to reassemble it again by yourself
very detailed guide, thanks!
I have two questions,
how was your device bricked?
why does this work? why normal edl flash method wouldn't work?

well, xiaomi requires an edl flash to be authorized, and they just do that for service centers for example.

You can, but if you've bought the phone from a different region they will probably refuse to look at it. If they will look at it, they will charge more than the cost of s-unlock credits.
Nice tutorial , useful for someone in the situation that you was are in to.
I have one other question that you probably do not have the answer to.
If you flash using this method an for example GLOBAL rom on CN device, will it unlock all the bands?
Using this method does it flash the modem firmware? Because the 855 modem supports all the available bands, but some are disabled by software.

No. You cannot unlock radio bands by flashing the modem firmware. If it was this easy there would be no point to Xaiomi setting different bands for different regions.
I have a question about rom, the model of my redmi k20 pro is M1903F11A, during my research to get rom I saw that for this model would be rom Davinci and not Raphael, or am I mistaken? Does this process you describe only work with this raphael rom?

Hello,
One last question, as I'm afraid of just spending another $ 15 and further increasing my $ 280 loss.
When you needed to do the procedure was your cell phone completely dead like mine? No bootloader, no fastboot, only black screen, no led on? Just being recognized in Window as QDloader 9008?
I am finding it very strange that my mobile is recognized as QDLoader 9008 without having to do the testpoint procedure. When I do testpoint nothing changes, continues QDloader 9008.
And another question, with $ 15 I only have one try? Or one flash successfully completed?

it'll authorize first before flashing everything but it sends a package to test everything to the device before, otherwise i can only suggest to pick a USB2.0 port while flashing.
And yes, i think its also possible to enter edl mode through a modified usb cable. Give it a try, it should work if you flash your original rom -> rom the device came with.

I brought a secondhand RED (Verizon version) on second hand market Xianyu闲鱼 ( Like eBay or mercari メルカリ) , less than USD100.
Then I updated the RED Hydrogen One to android 9 via fastboot and found dual sim in settings.
But merchantmen has told me it was a single sim version, and the dual sim version is more expensive (over USD 200) because is rare.
I cut my SIM card and let it fit to the second slot (used to settle TFcard) , then it recognized as a SIM card and can get signal, just like a DSDS one.
The hypothesis is , every RED Hydrogen One has the same motherboard, no matter you are aluminum version or titanium version, no matter sim free or carrier limited.
I won’t use Chinese because I don’t wanna shock greedy merchants , they import this mobile phone in same price , but sold them differently.
I will upload the dual sim android 9 ROM later. And how to install? Just refer posts written by other people posted on XDA.
By the way, root this phone can be more easier, just get its boot.img and transfer to your phone, let your magisk manager to patch it, then swap it as a boot to your phone.
A problem : this ROM doesn’t support VoLTE of China telecom. Even though it shows VoLTE enabled. You will lost your internet connection while calling , voice will on 1xRTT instead of LTE.
It also has few languages in settings, for example, traditional Chinese only for Taiwan, no Hong Kong .
I Have a Globle Build
I have a global build on my Red. Its work with Dual Sim. LTE works perfectly with only issue it doesn't save any Call logs. Except this the phone works on all front.

Thank you so much. data reset is a common situation.
Does your fingerprint scanner work after this firmware? I have not tested it yet, but I have a second phone with two working sims and it has problems with the fingerprint scanner. judging by the locked bootloader, I have a rare international version.

Greetings. Finally, the version for verizon has arrived. i will try to flash 9 android. The question arose, is it useful for a modified boot for rutting?
Can I flash the image right away? and I see two executables, could you please indicate which one you were flashing?
flash_a2h_windows.bat
flash_a2h_keep_userdata_windows.bat
I have a suspicion that one is doing a complete cleaning, and the second is flashing the image without cleaning.
thank
Flashed today the Android 9 Firmware on this thread on Verizon Hydrogen One and it's working perfect.
Finally Android 9 and finally debranded, plus the dual sim support (which i have not tested).
The steps i've followed are:
-Enable debugging options and then, OEM Unlock.
-Reboot to Fastboot (with power and vol -) and unlock bootloader with "fastboot flashing unlock" , confirm with power and vol buttons on the phone, then let it reboot and unlock again "fastboot flashing unlock_critical".
-Flash the firmware with "flash_a2h_windows.bat" it will take about 10-15m depending your pc. Also notice that i have installed adb and fastboot system-wide.
-In my case, once it finished flashing, the phone turned off, so i turned on and let it boot.
-Because i dont need magisk or root, in fastboot mode i relocked the bootloader with "fastboot flashing lock" and once rebooted "fastboot flashing lock_critical", both times confirming with power and vol buttons on the phone to relock bootloader.
Tested 4V functions, speakers, calls, sms, 4G, nfc, bt transfer and audio and pretty much all the sensors and everything seems to work fine.
PS: My backup from Google Drive didn't work for me because somehow this firmware changes some kind of hardware id and it's recognized by Google Services as a different phone.

It would be nice to have a rooted dualSIM phone
Thank you all who contributed, shared in the thread.
AT&T is now dual sim! So far no problems noted, but will report if any.
Ok, I think I lost root - I know I had it for sure in Android 8.1, but after upgrading to Android 9 I don't have it.
Any ideas how to get root again please?

Hello everyone, I hard bricked my note 9 pro (joyeuse) while I was trying to root under MIUI 12. Now it is responsive only to EDL but I can't flash a new rom because my account is not authorized by Xiaomi. Does anyone has a patched firehose to bypass the auth request? Thanks everyone

Same issue. Please anyone tell an fix for this s...t. I never buy again Xiaomi.
Me pasó lo mismo, se desconectó el cable mientras flasheaba, y quedé brickeado. Los servicios técnicos de Argentina y España lo estudiaron y concluyeron que la placa base estaba quemada. No me parece lógico. ¿Alguna opinión útil?

In the end I had to pay someone with this authority. My phone can now boot Fastboot and Recovery. Of course, there are other software issues as well. Constant reboot.
It all started with the phone processing this command because of a troll:

There are certain people who are capable of making it. Keep asking on The Internet and beyond, until you find something.
How does this authorization block flashing exactly? What about writing parts of the stock ROM files one by one, in the different modes? Second boot stage in EDL, rest of boot stages and OS/system in fastboot / download ?
Not sure what the restriction is exactly ?
Some sources can do things for as low as 20$ if not mistaken.
restriction is that firehose file made by xiaomi.
u need to modify it in order to skip xiaomi's verification step

How To Guide Tutorial: How to Update, Unlock bootloader and Root your CN with Global Rom phone

I received my phone today from Aliexpress and was able to update, unlock bootloader and root my phone so I want to share the steps. Follow them at your own risk, I take no responsibility for any issues or bricking. You should always backup your phone before doing any of these steps.
This tutorial is for CN phones that already have the Global Rom installed (AKA Aliexpress special phones). I do NOT know how to install the Global Rom on a CN stock phone, please do not ask and do NOT use this tutorial if your phone does not already have the global rom installed. You will likely get the message about the OS not being supported on this HW and the phone will be unusable until you flash back the CN rom. I do not what the sellers on Aliexpress are doing to bypass this message. You have been warned and I will not provide any support!
Prerequisites:
1. A CN phone with Global Rom already installed (Seriously, if you dont have this stop reading)
2. Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant
https://support.lenovo.com/bh/en/downloads/ds101291-rescue-and-smart-assistant-lmsa
3. Latest Global Rom firmware file
You can use Rescue program to get or you can download it externally from here
https://www.getdroidtips.com/lenovo-legion-2-pro-firmware-flash-file/
4. ADB
Updating your Phone:
The phone I received from Aliexpress came with Global Rom 12.5.062 ST which is a bit outdated. I tried the OTA app on the phone but it said no update was available. I used the tool Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant to update it to 12.5.137 ST which is the latest version of the Global Rom as of this post. I did not have to unlock my bootloader first to update. Special Thanks to hhda2004 for the update steps.
1- Download Rescue and Smart Assistant for windows.
2- Enable developer option through my phone settings by tapping on the build number (Legion OS) 7 times
3- Go to General Settings and enter Developer options , enable USB debugging
4- Install run the Rescue and Smart assistant software and connect the phone.
5- Choose the Rescue option to download latest software update (it will ask for IMEI first but If it cant find it you can search for it manually)
6- Ensure your phone model number matches the OS being downloaded , in my case it is L70081, for HW Code choose none and for country I chose UK
7- follow instructions on the windows Rescue app software and it will guide you through.

8-Once you have followed the onscreen steps, your phone should reboot and you should be on the latest version of the global rom.
Unlocking bootloader:
These steps are for a CN phone with Global Rom already Installed. Please note I take no responsibility for issues or bricking regardless if you have the Global Rom installed or not. Continue at your own risks. The following steps assume you already have ADB. If not the link below has more links and information. You may lose features like Gpay and others if you unlock the bootloader
I used this tutorial to Unlock the bootloader. It has more in detail than I will provide below
https://www.getdroidtips.com/unlock-bootloader-lenovo-legion-2-pro-l70081/
1. Enable Developer Settings and toggle "OEM unlock" and "USB Debugging" to ON
2. Once you have ADB and Lenovo USB drivers, you will need to get your IMEI and Serial to be able to use the ZUI website to unlock your phone.
3. Connect your phone to the PC and Change USB configuration to File Transfer (Note: I found this setting to be very unstable, I had to unplug and replug the phone for the setting to take affect and sometime it was easier for the PC to recognize the phone if I used the side USB-C port instead of the bottom port)
4. Open ADB
5. Type in ADB
adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
6. Once in the bootloader, write down the serial number. You can hit the power bottom to reboot normally at this point, we just need the serial
7. Goto this website to unlock your phone and obtain the needed .img file to move forward with unlocking
https://www.zui.com/iunlock
8. Its in Chinese but in the first field enter your IMEI number from My Phone Settings. in the second field, enter the serial number you obtained from the bootloader, third is your email and the fourth field box is a captcha code, just copy the number to right of it. For me, it took about 15 mins to get the email but Ive seen people mention it could take days to get the email. Make sure to check your spam folder if you are not seeing the email
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP
9. Once you get the email, it will have a link to download a .img, you will need that to unlock your bootloader. Download it and place it your ADB folder. Note: it was a 5kb file for me.
10. Open ADB again and do the following commands
adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
Followed by
fastboot devices
Click to collapse
If a device ID does not appear, unplug your phone and replug it. As I mentioned earlier, my phone was very finicky with being detected as a USB device.
Next we are going the flash the .img from the email provided by ZUI in step 9
fastboot flash unlock (filename).img
Click to collapse
Next we will send the unlock command. Do NOT do this if you did not flash the .IMG provided by the ZUI website first
fastboot oem unlock-go
Click to collapse
Your phone automatically reboot and you should see a warning about the bootloader being unlocked before you see the android logo
If it did not auto reboot you can hit it with
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
11. That's it, your phone's bootloader should be unlocked now.
Rooting your phone with Magisk:
This is the tutorial I used to root your phone. You will need to unlock the bootloader first. Gpay may stop working.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/root-lenovo-legion-2-pro-l70081/
1. Download the latest Magisk apk
2. Download the matching firmware for phone, you can use the Lenovo Rescue and Assistance or download from this link.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/lenovo-legion-2-pro-firmware-flash-file/
3. Extract the boot.img from the firmware zip file
4. Place both the Magisk apk and boot.img on the internal storage of your phone
5. Use a file explorer app to install the magisk apk.
6. Open Magisk and tap install
7. Choose the option to select and patch a file
8. Select the boot.img from internal storage
9. Magisk will create a patched img, make note of file path of the patched img and pull the patched img out of the phone and place it in ADB folder in the PC
10. Back on the PC open ADB and type
adb reboot bootloader
Click to collapse
next find the current slot (a or b)
fastboot getvar current-slot
Click to collapse
If the response for the current slot is "a" chose the following command, if "b", use the second command instead.
if slot "a"
fastboot flash boot_a (magisk patched name).img
Click to collapse
if slot "b"
fastboot flash boot_b (magisk patched name).img
Click to collapse
next reboot the device
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
11. Once rebooted, you can confirm the root by going back into magisk or using an app like rootchecker
How to pass SafetyNet:
This assumes you are already rooted. If not read above. If you open Magisk and fail to pass safetynet you can fix this by using a Magisk Modules.
1. Download SafetyNet fix by kdrag0n and place the zip on phone
https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases
2. Open Magisk and goto Modules. Search for Riru and install the module. Reboot
3. Go back to Magisk and goto Modules. Select install from storage on the top right
4. Install the SafetyNet fix by kdrag0n. Reboot
5. Your SafetyNet Check will pass
6. Open Magisk go to setting and turn on MagiskHide. Open MagiskHide options and check all the option for Gpay(Note: not sure if this step is necessary since kdrag0n said he added all things that MagiskHide was doing to his fix but i did it anyways and had no issue)
7. You should be able to use Gpay and add cards with your rooted phone
@superrama
Thanks for your tutorial.
I have exactly the Lenovo Legion duel 2 12gb ram and 128gb CN with the Global ROM installed (12.5.062 ST). I also bought it on Aliexpress. My phone is identical to yours.
I did the above steps (Rescue and Smart Assistant, ROM UK, etc). But mine doesn't update and I get a "FAIL" error message.
Would you help me? Thank you immensely.
does it give you any other messages? Did you enable USB debugging in developer setting? One thing i did not listed in the step was also enable oem unlock in developer setting as well. If you tried that already, maybe check that you have the lenovo usb drivers or try a different usb cable.
I actually used the rescue service again today without issue so it wasnt a fluke. I was trying to find a way to get safetynet and Googlepay to work so I wiped my phone again. I did find how to get safetynet to pass Gpay to work rooted but it was using magisk modules and unrelated to the build. I am going to update my original post with those steps how to get Gpay to work as well. good luck.

How did you do it? I pressed System Update in the phone and it says there is no update available. I followed the instructions and got the .137 version but the phone doesn't find the .188 version.
.137 is the latest English, .188 is the latest other(aka not china) and I don't know the latest china version. so in this context .188 is not an update to .137.

I'm getting stuck in Qualcomm crashdump mode. Every flash puts me here.
Is there an unbrick tool for this phone ? After the rescue software finished flashing my phone got stuck on Qualcomm 9008 mode with black screen
Everything went smooth during the flash process and I got no errors, it must be s firmware compatibility issue, I was on 12.5.680 with bootloader unlocked, but the firmware that I was trying to download from Rescue smart assistant was 12.5.137

what is issue?
original global version allow bootloader unlock?
I've got a silly question. Typically unlocking my bootloader and rooting wipes my phone.
Is this the case with this method? There no mention if the phone gets factory reset during the process.
Thanks for the help.
I cant proceed in the zui unlock website coz my serial number has only 7 digits.. how to solve this?
