Hi everyone, i have a Mate 10 Pro and a uni USB-C to HDMI cable. With that cable i connect the phone to a monitor, and i can do everything without problems: with both Phone Mode and Desktop Mode, i can watch VLC videos, play emulators and use remote play apps, and other things.
But there is a problem when i use streaming apps with DRM contents like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video. With Phone Mode, whenever i use these apps in their menus it seems all fine, but when i play something there is a strange behavior: on the monitor i can see the video and hear the audio, but there are no subtitles and i can't see the UI of the app, while on the phone there is everything. Usually is not a big deal, but sometimes is uncomfortable, like in a movie where someone speak a foreign language and there are subtitles to understand him but i can't see them beacause of this, or when a episode is over and there is the menu to go to the next and i want to stop it but i can't see it and so the next episode start.
I also have tried the Destop Mode, and is worse: when i play something there is the audio, the subtitles and the UI, but the video is black.
I understand that is something related to the DRM, but there is a solution to this? At least for the Phone Mode...

Hi everyone.
I bought an MHL cable to hook my Galxy S II up to my HDTV thinking I could watch HD videos on my big screen.
This works fine for a video file I've already downloaded to my phone, but I subscribe to an online live sports streaming website that shows events in up to 720p resolutions. All the streams are rtmpt Flash based embedded players, unfortunately when I tried this I could only view the videos at the S2's native resolution, which scaled up to 40 inches looked terrible!
Also, I've tried loads of browsers from the market, but regardless of if I use 3G, H+ or high speed home wifi they all stutter/lag every 10 seconds or so, which tells me it's the phone, not the connection. If I tether my phone to my PC, I can watch the streams fine which again tells me that it's the phone and not a connection speed issue.
I'd like to know if there's an app that will detect when you play an embedded video stream and give you the option of viewing it in another player that can handle higher resolutions than the browsers can?
I've seen apps like JetVD which do this for YouTube videos with 720p resolutions but can't find anything that will work with other streaming video websites. A little help please? MHL cable is pretty useless to me otherwise!

My question is: Is there a way to watch any video format without it stopping every few minutes?
If I use the stock player everything is fine, but it cannot support several video formats like avi, rmvb... etc. I use the MX player, but on some types of video, it stopps every few minutes. It's sooooo annoying!
From what i've seen in some threads, it happens with other video apps too. AND, when i am watching something directly from the internet, like fastpasstv, the video stops loading also every few minutes. I have to restart the loading from the middle... not hard, but also annoying. (using stock browser, and this doesn't happen on youtube for example)
Is the issue related? Since it seems to be happening to both online and offline video viewing...
I am stock, non-rooted, and non-unlocked... Wifi is fine.
I have the same problem. But it is a MX Player specific one for me. BS Player works fine (but has other issues).
Edit: I tried with the 'Performance Mode' and it works so far. Maybe a workaround?
I never have this problem when streaming one of many video formats from my PC to my Prime using ES File Manager to find the video files on my PC and MX to play them as streams.
Is this something that you tend to experience with streams/videos being played directly on the Prime?
For me it is locally played .ts videos.

It might be a Prime/ICS problem. There seems to be no solution up to now.
I get this same issue trying to stream video from sites other than youtube. It is when I'm streaming that I get most of the lock ups with the prime, reboots, etc. Maybe it is something to do with the allotted cache size of the browser being used up and cleared to make room for more buffered video?
It is rather annoying. You basically have to let it load and watch the whole thing as it goes. If I hit pause or so anything else then it risks stopping the stream where ever its at in the buffering. It's nice to have it start loading up, hitting pause, and walking away for a few minutes to let it buffer up. But then when I come back it would have just stopped about a 1/3 into it or 1/2 way. It would require hitting the reload button at the top or having to close the browser, kill it in the task manager, and then reopen it.
I don't have this issue with Netflix though. They did something right in their app.
I used to have this issue with mx player. It really sucked having to restart a movie every 5-10 minutes.
You want to use Dice Player. It's played everything I've thrown at it. All in Hardware rendering so the screen goes blank when plugged into HDMI.
Haven't had any issues since. I'm using the paid version, I assume they are both alright though.

In brief: I was able to stream live TV from the 'HDHomeRun Prime' to my phone using the app 'HomeRunTV'.
I recently purchased a network cable card tuner: a tuner that will stream to my home network so I can watch cable on computers/phones/etc, a 'HDHomeRun Prime' by Silicon Dust.

I did NOT purchase this tuner (actually, it has three tuners) to stream to my phone; that's just a side benefit. There are a couple of apps that will allow an Android phone to stream from this tuner.

Neither of these apps have a 'guide', they only list channels. With either of these apps, the tuner can stream to the phone one of two ways:
1) you can stream native H.264 video from the tuner to the phone.
2) you can install a (free) program on a computer to decode the video and stream a lower-bandwidth signal to your phone.
I was unable to get InstaTV's program to install on my dinosaur PC, but I could install HomeRunTVs program to install (it also requires VLC, also free, but I haven't finished setting VLC up yet), so I chose to just purchase HomeRunTV app 'HomeRunTV' ($2.99) for my phone
Along with HomeRunTV I also needed to install a video player because the ones I have are not supported. I installed MX Player (Free) on my phone. MX Player does NOT appear to have have hardware acceleration on my phone; it has hardware accelerator plugins and I have not checked to see if there is one that supports the L9.

The app's developer recommends a different video player, VPlayer; that player is by the same developer and is either paid or has a 7-day free trial. I may try it later.
I am typing this while watching "We Are Marshall" on AMC's SD channel and sitting close to my wireless N wireless router. The movie has a lot of action and there are a few times where there is pixelation or artifacts (i.e. when everyone is cheering and jumping around after the game, or when someone is being tackled) but overall I'm happy with the quality considering that I did not buy the tuner for this purpose. If I go downstairs or to the bedroom (through two walls) I see more artifacts. If I watch the same show on AMC's HD channel in the basement there are frequent artifacts - but keep in mind it's a hollywood football movie; in the more static scenes, the image is fine.
When watching a SD channel with less motion there appears to be some 'deinterlacing' effects but the picture is crisp when watching a HD channel.
I have NOT set up VLC on my computer yet, so I can't test the feature where my computer streams to the phone. This should improve quality and range. If I ever get around to doing so, I will post an update. As I mentioned before, I did NOT purchase the tuner to stream to my phone but I figured I might as well get the ability, especially if it only costs $2.99.

Tuning into a station takes between 10 and 20 seconds depending on if it is SD or HD and if I am near the router or in the basement, I believe this is a buffering issue but I do not know for sure. Between the time it takes to tune in a channel, and the lack of a guide, you better know what you want to watch because channel surfing would take forever.

Yes. It's sort of like putting a cable card in a computer so you can watch TV on that computer, except it puts the cable card on the network so multiple devices can share it. DLNA-enabled blu-ray players and TVs can stream from it, and PS3 and XBox.
It will allow me to use a PC as a DVR, and my daughter will be able to use her laptop as a DVR, and we can all watch TV on our phones/tablets.
I believe that with DLNA-enabled devices you can get 'premium' content like HBO. The L9 has DLNA but the app I'm using does not, so I can't watch HBO on the L9 with this app.

I've just bought the following TV box from Amazon and am seeing some strange behaviors from Plex.

1) when playing some videos it will pause for a second and then the video will play at a faster rate, while the audio plays normally.
2) a video with directors commentary on it, plays this even though it's not selected.
3) TV Player is installed and summertime if I watch a TV channel first and then use Plex, I sometimes get the audio from the TV show busy into life over the menus in Plex and sometimes over the video.
With the same version of plex on my tablet, Nexus 10, I don't see this behavior. Any ideas if I can fix this our should I just return it?

Hi. I've been using M5 for a few hours and noticed a problem with Vlc for Android. I'm playing video content via IPTV app in Vlc. The problem is, i can't exit full screen or close the Vlc app. If i double tapp the screen, the content goes to pause, but that's it, there're no floating buttons. If i lock it with power button, it just goes black and i have to force reboot it. I noticed same problem with few other players, BSplayer works fine, but Vlc is quicker at opening m3u. Can anyone else confirm this? Best regards.

The only way I found is to turn the tablet in portrait... and you find the control again... Quite bothering me...
The problem was fixed with the update.
I noticed a small stuttering while streaming m3u on VLC through IPTV.. The video just freezes for a milisecond every 8-10 seconds.. Can anyone check?
P. S. : the stuttering is present only, when subtitle track is selected.. When the line changes, it glinches.
