General Android 13 Beta 1 for the Pixel 6 - Google Pixel 6

Hey guys,
was not able to find another topic for the Android 13 Beta 1 so I opened this one (if there is though - pls delete this). I am using Android 13 since DP1/DP2 and now Beta 1 on my Pixel 6.
Honestly the experience starting from DP1 is similar to last`s year`s Android`s 12 - though not "super" stable it was still good for a daily driver. So Android 13 brings a lot of new things/permission management/task manager sort of/more material you design colors/some gimmicks things like a new progress bar for media players, but also enhanced clipboard, but also some useful things like "finally" access to media devices from the lock screen, new privacy & security updates and I also far more things like the update TARE and others (that are not yet fully transparent to us/the end users).
If you want to check my experience with A13 beta 1 for the P6, check my video. It`s good a for a daily driver - google pay/which was not working in DP1/ but I have yet to test it.
Mod edit: YT link removed.

Hard to tell yet, but about the same I got since I moved to DP1, 3-5 hours of SOT depending on usage.

I installed the beta yesterday and lost cellular network/data. I submitted a bug report amd hope google can fix it. Only way to get calls, text and data is via wifi

Damn! I experience cellular issues from the moment I got my pixel 6.
Sadly I live in a country that is not officially supported, ie no VoLTE, no 5G and no VoWiFi...
Do you have that? Did you try to reset the phone?

My area (US) has those and worked fine with 12 and 12L. I haven't tried a factory reset yet, trying to avoid that much work . I'm in an area for the next 4 days where I don't get cell service anyway so I'll just use wifi calling, which works, and hope for a solve from Google.

Had no audio in video after a few clips so flashed back to derpfest

Best ROM? - Need to flash 3x Redmi Note 2 TDD-LTE (christmas gifts)

Hi everybody,
I bought 3x Redmi Note 2 (TDD-LTE) phones at AliExpress and will gift them to my family for christmas (live in germany).
Since my pretty old parents and my sister do not have much clue about technics/software I would like to flash ROMs which they can use for the next 2-3 years without necessity to update and which are working as flawlessly as possible.
There are so many different ROMs which are in development in this forum but in the comments there are always statements like "good but poor sound quality" or some "video codec is not working" or "battery issues".
Could you please make some suggestions of ROMs which have (almost) no issues? -> I dont care about the Android versions and if it is AOSP, CM. MIUI or any other ROM as long as it fulfills the following
Requirements:
Stable
Playstore
German language
Maximum battery life (performance is not important - my family members won´t play 3d games - so if there are some tweaks like underclock e.g. that would be cool)
good sound-quality
good cam quality
good connectivity (gps, LTE, bluetooth e.g. working flawlessly)
Nova-Launcher working
Thank you very much in advance!

I've been using the xiaomi.eu 5.11.26 ROM for a couple of weeks and have only 1 issue - auto brightness is slow to respond, but great other than that.
You really do not want anything other than the official MIUI because you can't troubleshoot if it doesn't work and you have to update it manually.
Don't bother with xposed, root or anything. Because there will always be updates for those kind of things and I doubt your parents and sister would want to manually do all these things.
Xiaomi.eu and sMIUI both requires TWRP to be flashed and you don't mind checking for an stable ROM every month and flashing it with the possibility of soft bricking the phone. Even though the chances are miniscule, it's just better to be safe with MIUI which is tested extensively (I hope) and you don't have to worry about warranty issues if it arises since they are on stock.

In my experience, CM12.1 build 8 (haven't tried newer) was more stable and usable than any MIUI build that I have tried for this phone. As for troubleshooting, you can google anything you want for cm12 and you'll find a solution.
I don't know how people can recommend MIUI over CM12 unless they just haven't tried it.

I am using @lokjianming CM12.1 build, that has some bug, Ex. "Vibrate on Touch" not works for some user (including me), mobile network not stable (SIM2 LTE network may not working), call recording not working, you need to install other recording app, sometimes the speaker has cracking sound (rarely), Chinese translation not complete (some UI is english), I am not sure how complete in German, but I can accept this bugs, I like CM ROM, as I know, XiaoMi never releases their full kernel source, so some bugs are very hard to fix.
Go for stable 7.0.8.0
Go for the stable 7.0.8.0 release. You can find it on xiaomi.eu stable roms download. The rom is multilang, so it supports german. Everything works flawlessly. Like bluetooth, wifi, screen auto brightness. Everything works, and battery life is great. This rom is rock stable and never needs an update. It is also not rooted like the other roms, so if they use banking apps or other apps that may only allow unrooted phones, it is no problem there alsom 7.0.8.0 stable rom from xiaomi.eu is the most stsble rom i have used. So if you install that ro they would be very happy with their phones. Good luck
Thanks for that feedback - so you thing i should use 7.0.8.0 instead of 7.0.12.0 ?
I am currently about to start flashing the 7.0.12.0 and then saw your post
Where can I download the version which you mean? Since on the official page there is just the chinese version available of 7.0.8.0
Just installed 7.0.12.0 global - xiaomi must be kidding me.... there is no german language available - even as the location germany is not available...
Can anyone tell me which of the official versions support german language?
finally ended up with smiui 7.0.8.0 (german included)

Just wanted to say thanks for this!
I use this phone with hangouts dialer on wifi when I'm out working (leaving my good, fragile phone safe in the house). I was using the old cyangenmod 13 rom because it was the only one that would work without missing sim errors.
This rom works perfectly for my needs, again, thanks!

I found an issue, the stock equalizer does not seem to work at all. Also tried to install V4A and it does not work either (I suspect it's Samsung's fault with the problematic Samsung Knox). Screen recording seems to be buggy and 5GHz hotspot don't work (2.4 GHz works fine). Other than that I haven't found any other issues. Video recording works fine.
Edit: Stock equalizer seems to work on all my audio files (.wav, .flac, .m4a), except .mp3 files.

I'm using the latest official build from the official LineageOS website. It's 14.1
There is a bug in lineage-14.1-20180222-nightly-kltesprsports-signed.zip build - no sound after installation, because "Do not disturb" option is turned on by default, but it shows like it is turned off in the drop-down menu so you have to touch the "Do not disturb" icon to see it is actually turned on, and turn it off manually.
It took a few reinstalls from 20180222 to 20180215 back and forth to find this out.
Also I am kinda upset about not functioning NFC, and I found out that LineageOS does not support NFC on many different Samsung models. Why is it so - a missing driver or something else?
I would like to pay someone to fund NFC development, if possible.

Oh, that's good news! In fact I did not check the NFC function before writing that message, I think I saw somewhere that NFC does not work in LineageOS on S5.
Or maybe I got confused with S4 (jfltexx) which I also own and where NFC does not work for sure.
I've sent you a donation thru Paypal, many thanks for your work!
Just a side note for fun and general info. My bank flagged my account after using their banking app as accessing with a "known fraud device" and locked my savings and checking. In the end, I had to get new accounts because they could not turn them on after the fact. I tried to explain in vain and they would not hear it. So fair warning if you try to use your banking app on the Lineage ROM. Nothing extra added, only the current version of this ROM and open gapps.
Is there any chance to see Wireguard VPN support in this build?

What are the bugs with the lineage-14.1-20180222-nightly-kltesprsports-signed.zip build? I'm interested in flashing. Also, was the issue with airplane mode disconnecting LTE on the s5 sport ever resolved? Disabling airplane mode does not initiate LTE connection only until I reboot my phone. I'm on build 14.1-20170418 currently so curious to see what has improved. Also, a big thanks to everyone in this community. I moved from cm13 to this build a year ago and I've been happy. Just looking to resolve the LTE issue .
onlyoneway, this is very old version from February, you should better install the latest nightly build from here: https://download.lineageos.org/kltesprsports
I do not know about LTE as my operator frequencies do not match US ones. However 3G works nice after "Flight Mode" on/off.
P.S. bumping the question

Wireguard is awesome.
I found out that calendar does not notify about forthcoming events. I use LineageOS without Google stuff (with Offline Calendar https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.sufficientlysecure.localcalendar/ instead).
Is this a bug in Offline Calendar on in LineageOS build for kltesprsports?

Hey Guys! I have a Samsung S5 sport that I recently dirty flashed to the 14.1-20180803-NIGHTLY-kltesprsports build. Now my battery does not go beyond 65% no matter how long I leave my phone plugged in. I have tested different cables and adapters, and still the same thing. Didn't have this issue with the 20180720 build. Any thoughts? Bug maybe? Thanks in advance.

Project treble support?

Hi!
Could someone please check whether the tablet supports project treble? It should, because it ships with Android 8, but you never know whether a manufacturer follows the rules or not.
There are currently two apps available in the Play Store which can check this. I would suggest the following, because it can also check for A/B system partitions, which makes updates easier:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kevintresuelo.treble
I have tried the app on my older tablet - the "uses in app purchases" is only there for a "Donate" menu item.
Why is treble relevant? If you look at the xda developer forums of the predecessor, the Mediapad M3, you can see that there is not a single custom ROM available for it, although TWRP is available:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/development
Since Huawei doesn't seem to care much about updates, having project treble would make it much easier to get custom ROMs in the future.
Thanks
Chris
@chris_g treble is supported but A/B updates not.
Thanks for the info. I have bought the 8.4 inch WiFi model now, and I can confirm what you write (treble yes, A/B no). It's a nice replacement for my old Nexus 7.

No, I`m quite happy with the Huawei stock ROM so far. You can get the Android app drawer if you don`t want all apps on the home screen, just search for "drawer" in the settings. And the Android button emulation via fingerprint scanner is great (tap = back, long tap = home, swipe = task list). Also it`s quite up to date, January 2018.
It`s more about future updates for me, when there will be no security updates.

[8.1] [Magisk Module] Multi-Touch Fix for 8.1 Devices

Hello guys and girls,
As some of you already know Android 8.1 suffers from a severe Multi-Touch Issue. This issues makes the smartphone randomly jumping between the two touching points on the screen when touching with two or more fingers.
The issue is known to google since the preview of 8.1. It isn´t only affecting pixel but most probably all devices running 8.1. The issue is also present on P.
An issue got created here: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/70344455
There is a fix since mid march in review on google gerrit. But that didn´t make it into the april release, obviously.
To visualize the issue refer to the following videos:
https://youtu.be/wgYN5GwIgIc
https://youtu.be/2Vv584tvVyg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dnIk_5qdK8&feature=youtu.be
This is especially bad for gamers. With the recent release of PUBG this issues seems dramatic to some, less to others.
I´m no gamer but I noticed the issue on the google foto app.
This issue has nothing to do with the corners badly reacting to touches, or touch sensitivity etc.
So but now to the fix. It seems the issues is only related to resampling but not to touching specific points of the screen ( not related to crossing x and y axis).
That also explains why the issue wasn´t happening when using the touch tracking tool in dev settings but on various multi touch test apps.
The fix is on google gerrit currently under review here:
https://android-review.googlesource.com/c/platform/frameworks/native/+/640605
https://android-review.googlesource.com/c/platform/frameworks/native/+/640606
Last week I compiled myself a DU build with the changes included and I couldn´t trigger the issue at all. I found no other side effects caused by the two patches.
For now I decided to provide a Magisk Module which replaces the changed libs that fixes the issue.
I compiled the libs while doing my april build of DU. The magisk module can be found on the link a little bit down.
The download is here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657595755
A few disclaimers here.
1. That fix should in theory work for most 8.1 devices, including the likes of pixel 1st gen, pixel 2nd gen, one plus, xiaomi which suffer from this severe issue.
2. I didn´t fix this, I just compiled the libs with the fix found on google gerrit.
3. Rom devs you are very welcome to include this fix. I found no ill consequences as of yet but I can understand google taking it slow and reviewing it longer. Maybe they will find a better fix, but as of now this is the best thing we have.
Donations:
Donations are not mandatory but very welcome.

Any word on a fix for the sound bug on 8.1? After a couple of hours the phone stops playing ringtones and notifications (while other sounds work ala YouTube Spotify). A reboot fixes it temporarily.

Having received 10.1 a few days ago, I wanted to start this thread to discuss impressions and questions.
To start off, has anybody got the multi device panel to work, i.e. through swiping from bottom right or left corner?
Also, anybody has meetime showing in phone app?

Well most of us are still on EMUI 10 (10.0.0.206)
I'm not sure about other regions but I'm texting on behalf of VOG-L29 Huawei P30 Pro in South Africa.
I think that Emui 10.1 will come in June last week, or even during July. So, information on portals that Emui 10.1 came out for EU users are not correct. There are a few members who received 10.1 for testing purpose and presentation on Yt. Also there are reports that build 123 has bugs. So, I think we will wait security patch June 2020 with emui 10.1.

It was reported that 10.1 came out in Germany Spain and France. I've got it on mine, which is why I created the thread. Still you need to state that this is not correct, why? Screenshot attached, running 10.1 for 4 days, no test user.
I created the thread to see the experience of others. Indeed I've got bugs (see my post) but your statement is incorrect that 10.1 has not come out for EU users.
Maybe I'm wrong but there is some issue with mentioned build 123. Also, on Firmware Finder which use official Huawei server, there are no builds for 10.1, so Huawei obviously canceled test ota using HiCare or Support. That is the reason why noone here didnt report any about that build. Also, there is no dload or service rom for b123. But, lets see what will happen. I whish to be wrong but.... I have too much experiences with Emui releases.
Well, yes there's some issue. Not sure if it's test but it came via normal update. But quite some stuff is not working, multi window does though and it's fast. But no meetime, multi device panel etc. So maybe it was pulled after initial release

Great to hear. Are you able to go from a notification straight to a floating window app? Saw this on a video but it's also not working for me. Seems that at least three or four features don't work.
Noticed also that despite smart charging enabled, the phone hits 100% consistently even when charging shorter periods like in the morning from 40% upwards.

Well, your impression that the server which used by FF are the same like the Devices do, is wrong. Why? Because, if I use erecovery, I receive the same Version like I did through OTA. Same by usinge HiSuite on PC.
Means: Just because FF got no entry to the same servers like our devices on regular way do, it's no clue to think there's something wrong
Can anyone of you guys who received 10.1 helo on this?

Having received 10.1 a few days ago, I wanted to start this thread to discuss impressions and questions.
To start off, has anybody got the multi device panel to work, i.e. through swiping from bottom right or left corner?
Also, anybody has meetime showing in phone app?

Using that app i've shared and connecting using HiSuite, that app gets the OTA links update that are sent to your device from Huawei servers.
If i can get that links, i will do some test and if all went fine, i will be able to help all users update their devices to EMUI 10.1.

Understood but don't have private laptop so not using hisuite. On work laptop, I can't install hisuite. Sorry for not being able to help

U're lucky that u got this update(probably from Orange), I didn't received it on Vodafone Romania...
Does some also has this weird notification theme error? Already had it on 10 and hoped they fix it. After multiple notifications are popping up and I pull down the notifications, some of the are turning white and translucent. I guess this has something to do with themes and dark mode, but it is occurring on every theme so far.

Multi window changed. Stay with XDA, for instance, then pick an app from your floating window dock and keep the divider pressed. The two windows jump into multi window. You can change the position by moving to top window down with its divider and vice versa. Doing this right now with XDA top and gallery at the bottom.
But multi window from the recent menu won't work. There you can start any app in floating window mode.
As for the rest, same for me ? seems like an incomplete update. Note that meetime will be limited initially but I'm in Germany which should have meetime.
I am on a German VOG-L29 but not in Germany
I am on 10.0.0.195
I was at Huawei Experience Store yesterday
They said for now its the latest and 10.1 will be pushed soon, maybe sooner to mine than to others because its German
If I check for updates its says up to date
is the Huawei Firmware Finder still working? I used it for gettin 0 day updates on EVA-L19 (P9)
I dont use Google on the phone, like to get a new experience with Huawei and EMUI only
how to remove Google Bloatware?
I found yesterday a free app that has a paid version for 3-4 bucks called Flaoting Apps, is that something that 10.1 have integrated called Multi Window?
