I need serious help with my Honor 10 - Honor 10 Questions & Answers

I have a Honor 10 that was updated to emui 9.1. I saw that the phone had a android 10/emui 10 update available but it didn't show on the system updater, so I decided to change region and changed it to China and installed the Chinese version of emui rather than the global version. I don't have usb debugging on and when I go to Recover the phone I can't get the update package. Is there anyway that I can recover my Honor 10 or should I take it to a service center???

You don't need usb debugging for using this method, but is required an otg cable to connect a pendrive to the smartphone. Are you able to turn it off?

The device is off, but I don't have a otg cable

dload is a folder contained into the firmware's zip file. From this website https://androidhost.ru/ download the right firmware for your smartphone and make sure that it is the right one for your region (every region has a code, for example Europe is C432). Next, you have to unzip the firmware zip file, and then navigate into the "software" folder which contains the dload folder. Copy the dload folder into a usb pendrive (erase the pendrive before this step) and then plug in the pendrive into your smartphone through the otg. Let the usb pendrive connected to your smartphone and hold at the same time the power on+ volume up + volume down buttons until the smartphone enter into the download mode. Now it should begin the firmware installation, so wait until it finish and don't move the pendrive!. You can try this, but it's not sure it will fix your smartphone. I'm just a noob, and this is what I would try. Another way could be the board software if this won't work

Omg thank you so much for all of this info

Start a Repair session in Sony Update Service or PC Companion, this will install the latest official firmware fresh ( you will lose all data ). I don't think there is another option.
If the phone still doesn't work after that i would think you have a hardware problem.

don't connect your phone to the pc
you start Sony Update Service
you choose Update
It can't update, because your phone is not connected and it can't figure out which type it is
It will offer a Repair link
You can choose your model there
It will download the firmware
when it wants to flash the firmware: Press the back-button and plug the usb-cable into your phone ( alternatively: if your phone isn't off, connect the usb-cable and press home- and powerbuttons together ).
Wait till it's done and hope your phone turns on normally.

Well.. if you read my post correctly... you shouldn't plug in your phone when it asks for update, leave it disconnected and then it can't recognise your model and assume it's dead, that's when you get a repair option. after that just follow the instructions.

Do it with pc companion, and DO NOT connect your phone when you choose update.
You will get a repair option, it let's you select your model, download the firmware and it wants to flash it to your phone. Then, when it asks for flashmode:
Plug in the USB-cable and then press Home- and Power-buttons together.
Only do that when it asks for flashmode, not before.

Do an update with PC Companion first, it should work now I think, because this firmware is unbranded. You need the *4015 baseband, otherwise you will lose connectivity.

Check if this firmware already has the *4015 baseband, you should be fine if it does, even if the firmware as a whole is not 2.1.1.A.0.6. Otherwise i'll have to see if I can find something else.

It's easy to fix Just follow my steps. :fingers-crossed:
1.Prepare the rom which was running ok before, for example, for me it was @satanduck 's prerooted TWRP S124 rom.
2.Open the SP flash tool.
3.Load the scatter file from the rom which worked ok for you.
4.Tick the box that says 'DA DL All With Check Sum'
5.Hit Firmware Upgrade
Now is the hardest step
1.Open the cover of your phone.
2.Look for the red reset button which was close to SD card and press it a few times.
3.Connect USB cable to your phone and firmware upgrade should start and wait for the green circle! :good::laugh:
Best luck :good:

Hi,
Please verify that you have a correct production date. I got a P780 after 0314. please try the solution on this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52665841&postcount=16
If this resolves your problem, that keep that preloader. With that you can almost flash every rom that there is with the flashtool.
(i'm very satisfied with the latest rom on needrom Vibeui2.0 (the rom page also offers the new preloader )
Greetz,
btw to try to flash with the new preloader set up the flashtool, push the red button on the back of your phone, connect the phone an release the button. If all the drivers are correct your phone will be flashed. ( this new batch phones gave me a heart attack also , mine wasn't even 12 hours active before i softbricked it )

IF your phone doesn't boot you'll need to use USB cable and flashtool or fastboot to recover, but since your usb port is broken i guess there's nothing you can do sorry
I would send the phone to sony service to get the usb port fixed...
Edit: one more thing, candy rom is not stock based and requires an unlocked bootloader, if you didn't unlock your BL before flashing that's why you bricked.... but you could still recover if your phone usb port worked.

Flashing any stock rom should fix your kernel problem now either flash a .ftf with flashtool, or try recovering your phone in sony pc companion.
I prefer flashtool for flashing as i never had problems with it and it's easy to set-up and work.
If you don't know how to use flashtool take a look at this: http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/06/01/debrand-your-xperia-z2-tutorial/

Humm weird, try flashtool once again, maybe with another .ftf or another pc, select all wipes, choose flashmode, make sure your phone is completely powered-off, when flashtool asks to connect just keep pressing volume down and plug the usb cable. flashing should start fine now.

troubleshooting to connect the phone to the PC

Hi all,
by cons for several weeks I've a concern with my redmi Note 2 and I can't find the answer to my problem on the forum or even the Internet.
Since the last update 7.2.2 (global) I have the Recovery MIUI who crushed the TWRP. I changed to test 6.3.17. The update to the .24 went wrong and I don't know why. Since the phone is bootloop. But the problem is that my phone is not recognized by any PC. I tried several PCs, several cables, several drivers, with or without the Fastboot, unable to connect. Therefore impossible to load a new version. I don't think it's material problem because the phone recharge well with a cable to the socket.
Is there another handling or debug decision to restart the phone? I'm in France for information.
thank you in advance if you can point me to a solution !
Hope someone can help me.
Manu
Can the phone boot to miui recovery? If so, you should be able to use miui recovery to flash TWRP (I think you will need one with a signed install zip). You only need to take out the external SD, put it in one of those cheap USB card readers, copy your recovery and ROM to the SD, put it back in the phone, flash TWRP with miui recovery, and then flash the ROM with TWRP (I am assuming that miui recovery can install things from the external SD - if not, then none of this will work).
Hi Bro,
Yes it boot in MIUI recovery but impossible to get access to the SD Card...
I tried to put the file on the SD card but you can't choose the path, I think the recovery will look only in the internal memory ... And as I can't access the internal memory..
I despair !!
Thanks o lot for your help

Ok - but have you tried the Mediatek SP Flash Tool?
Of course yes but the real problem is that the phone is not recognized by the PC and therefore can't load anything ...
Even changing drivers or cables or PC, nothing to do.

So, when the battery is removed, and you connect the USB cable, the phone is not even vibrating (and making that weird sound) every couple of seconds or so?
Yes you're right : every 10s the phone vibrate...

Well, then it is very strange that you can't use the SP Flash Tool. If the phone vibrates, then the device is recognised, and you should be able to flash anything you want with the SP Flash Tool! How exactly were you trying to use the Flash Tool?
I tried so many solutions I really don't know exactly how I used the software.
I will again try everything.
But against any changes when I look in the USB settings of the PC, the phone doesn't appear.
I try again just now, thank you for your help.

With the SP Flash Tool, all you need is the correct "scatter" file (MT6795_Android_scatter.txt), and the image(s) that you want to flash. If the phone is vibrating, then the SP Flash Tool should be able to connect to it when you click "Download". Just make sure that you first untick everything that you do NOT want to flash. I would try flashing the boot image (boot.img) first. If that succeeds, then try the TWRP recovery image.
Ok. I'm going to try again with "http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=196175&highlight=sp%2Btool%2Bflash%2Bredmi%2Bnote%2B2"

Strange! I am assuming that when you connect the phone with the USB cable, the battery has been removed from the phone? If so, then it should work.
Perhaps you should try first connecting the phone, and then waiting until it has vibrated once or twice, before clicking the "Download" button?
Yes I removed battery before connect the phone to PC. I tried also with battery and nothing changed.
I even changed the cable to be sure.
Which seems to me most strange is that I see nothing in the device manager, as if the phone wasn't connected. Whatever the installed driver is the same result. I think it should at least have the phone on the COM or USB port ...
I will try again this night to be sure with all steps one by one. And I will also try with ACER tablet I and runs Android 5.1. Maybe it will be recognized.
Otherwise I also tried to pass a Linux PC as a last resort.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, it should. The fact that the phone vibrates when connected indicates that the PC and phone are communicating - but it may well be that a low-level driver in the phone has been overwritten (which may mean that this is a lost cause). A final idea - can miui recovery access usbotg?
Hum good question. In fact I don't know. I'll ask the MIUI forum.
I got home late from work so I don't do tests tonight, I'd see it all tomorrow including the connection with my tablet ...
Thanks

Hi,
I tried to connect with an Acer Tablet with Android 5.1.1 but nothing appends...
I tried also with a Linux PC (Debian) and if I can see a Samsung A3 phone dirrectly, no way for my Redmi Note 2...
There really I despair : I think I can't access any of the phone. Can't do anything !
If you have any other solution but you help me a lot already, and thanks for that.
Can be a micro crack on the USB plug into the phone if it's not a software problem ... Let's go for it apart and look at this ...
Thanks again bro.

I don't think it is a crack on the USB plug. It seems to me to be a low-level driver problem - ie, the drivers on the phone that are active when the phone is not (fully) booted up. I don't have the right terminology for these drivers, but they are possibly part of the bootloader. If that is the problem, then I don't know how you would solve this problem.

Does anyone know how to install an update downloaded from FirmwareFinder?

FirmwareFinder lists the beta 9 available for my BKL-L09C432, but as the update is not approved for my device I'm unable to install it, neither through VPN nor using in-app proxy . Does anyone know if it's possible to manually install the update?
Thanks.

Unpack your downloaded file on a computer.
If you see a dload folder :
Copy it to a clean micro-SD card
Power off your phone
Insert the micro-SD in your phone
Hold VOLUME UP, VOLUME DOWN, and POWER
When you see the Huawei/Honor logo, release the three buttons.
If everything went right, the phone should boot in reinstall mode and flash the ROM contained in the dload folder.
If, for some reason, your phone won't stay off and keeps rebooting, it can help to hold down VOLUME DOWN and quickly connect the phone to a computer with a USB cable while the phone is briefly off.
The phone should then boot in fastboot/rescue mode. From here, you may have more success of rebooting into reinstall mode.
