Mi 10 - M2001J2G? - Xiaomi Mi 10 Questions & Answers

Hi alll,
I was recently gifted a Mi 10 and looking to retire my Pixel 3. I'm not a huge fan of the MIUI firmware and was hoping to flash with a more vanilla Android ROM.
A few questions:
- this specific phone is the mi 10 5g...can I flash with one of the roms posted here?
- in the event of a brick, is the stock Xiaomi firmware available for download from somewhere?
- any suggestions for cases/protection?
I've been on pixels for over 6 years now, and love how easily I can flash Google's stock firmware. Is this possible with a Xiaomi?

Thanks!
I managed to boot TWRP and formatted then flashed the latest Global ROM (12.5.4, I believe).
All is well for now. Had to manually remove all the MIUI system apps, but otherwise running smooth on MIUI 12.5.

Unfortunately I didn't note the original ROM name before wiping, but I recall not being able to find any details on it through a Google search (no search results with the ROM name).
The ROM I flashed is V12.5.4.0.RJBMIXM

My supplier says Miui6 or should i go Miui7

Just received my phone and it has Miui 6 installed on it, Miui version 66.66.77.00(LHMCNCF) I queried it with my Chinese supplier his reply was ……
We flashed the phone to Miui 6. Because Miui 7 is not stable now. Pls don't update to Miui7.
He supplied this link to download the above rom in case I lost it off my phone: http://www.miui.com/download-290.html#430, but this link does not mention the above version.
Should I stick with his advice or is there a reasonably stable Miui 7 version out there.??
I am running the china dev rom miui 7. It performs far better than miui 6. Btw, my phone came with exactly the same rom as you. It is filled with bloatware and some functions dont work. I suggest you flash to the stable miui 6 or go for beta miui 7. Either way, you will be in a much better position that you are now.

Thanks for the reply, did not have much bloatware so guess the supplier took it off before he shipped the phone, tried the apex launcher with this rom and it has various problems so gone back to the rom launcher, i guess you mean one of the roms from this web page, http://en.miui.com/download-218.html.

Can you share with us what version of MIUI you have used? Does it work with OTA updates?

New camera features

Hello,I just got my redmi note 4 mtk and was wondering if there was a way of editing some lines in system files to get tilt shift and fish eye for redmi note 4 mtk? Thanks in advance
Actually you don't need to do that, just installing some third-party camera apps, most of them have these additional features.

Yes, it's for mediatek varient.
It's a bit tricky to find the links 'cause it's a Russian ROM.
The official page it's: miuipro.by
This is the link of the last version they are gonna support of MIUI 8. Until our device gets MIUI 9 there would be a new version of the ROM. https://miuipro.by/obnovleniya-miuipro-7-8-24-opublikovanyi/
By the end of the page there is a picture of a orange cloud, Clic it and it will reach you to Drive. Look for the nikel version.

Big thanks to you I only had one little "bug" (i guess) . I read you had to wipe system, data, cache and dalvik, and I had cofface twrp.I tried to wipe all of those, and data cache and dalvik did wipe but i couldnt wipe system,so I installed zcx team twrp, and I wiped all of those, installed rom,but when I booted I didnt get setup screen,I got to my old homescreen.I have all the features of the miui pro rom but it didnt wipe any of my files,my apps,or my password, saved wifis and all that ****.Weird lel

Could you please send me an apk of your camera app (my rom didn't come with one so I'm surviving on a crappy one I found on xda) you can use an app like apk extractor off of Google play to get the apk.
Thanks :good:

Which is better: globe rom or xiaomi.eu?

I like miui rom better than stock android roms. Because of that I found out that there are two miui based roms. Globe rom and Xiaomi.eu rom. Can you tell from your experience which one of them is less buggy and a better customizable ?
Eu miui is more customizable but tbh i didn't try it yet i use V9.6.25.0.OEJMIFD global stable its very smooth and give me great battery life more than a day with 10+ hours of sot and i don't face any bug what so ever i was before on miui 10 beta its was less smooth and less battery life
I'm using the EU beta version already and I have to say it works very well.
It also has more options than the global version.
Just try it yourself and be surprised.

I'm not talking about the global rom. There is a customizable rom based on miui rom which called globe rom.
I tried globe rom today (first time flashing for poco) you can set it up wit the globe website.
But not all functions are working, i switched off browser, included root/magisk/ad away but it diddn't work.
I renamed the rom zip to rom.zip (so not the orginal name)
Rest of rom function i'm testing atm
Could that be the problem

adaway (or other apps you chose) are stored in sdcard/globeROM_apps for you to manually install after flashing, they are not (i believe) installed automatically.
it says on the site that sometimes magisk doesn't work or doesn't even allow boot. if that's the case just manually flash/install it
are you also saying that the browser didn't get removed? not sure on that one, did you clean flash - wipe data, cache, dalvik, system? you could try re-building the rom or flashing again

No, I'm not sure! I've just read at the rom builder website people asking for gapps to be optional in the expert settings. So thought I'd ask. Hopefully I'll get the device through the post this week and will try it. I'll report back!
I reflashed without wipe data with orginal final name, it worked better. Apps got deleted and it update magisk from .1 to .2 version.
I only can't find center clock mod and adaway, it is stated in the install log as succesfull. First have to look into what i'm missing.

Might be a shop room. Got one from AliExpress and was unlocked so loaded xiaomi.eu on myself. If it says MIUI Global in the about section. Don't do anything until you have flashed China stable or xiaomi.eu

There are some text issues with the xiaomi.eu tools (their built-in tweaking tools), which doesn't affect functionality.
Then, there is the widely-reported issues of the Power app crashing whenever you're installing an app. You can read similar reports at xiaomi.eu forum.

I am a total newbie at this. How do I install this Rom, please? Is it very technical or straightforward?
Thanks
Hi installed the latest January release, and it seems like double tap to wake and raise to wake is missing?
I'm sorry but this is a multi-languages ROM, isn't it?
As I saw its name has a "CN" inside: "xiaomi.eu_multi_MIPAD4_V10.2.1.0.ODJCNXM_v10-8.1
I wonder if I flash this ROM, it will be back stock ROM with China apps, no Google Play and only Chinese and English languages
Please help to answer!
Thank you so much!
Hello. I decided to use eu-rom since magnetic cover does not work on the other custom rom.
On the rom I encountered that system partition does not allow "write", but read-only even I rooted with magisk and I use ES explorer or root explorer to modify the system file.
The purpose of changing system file is I like to use my favorite font on the device.
Is there any solution and why it does not allow the change?
When I install a custom rom like hovoc, permission is granted and I can change the font, but magnetic cover does not work....
I appreciate your advice to solve the problem.

10.3.1.0 rom can't download app in playstore always waiting network. Especially if connected to mobile hotspot. Maybe the problem from downloadProvider ?
10.3.1 installed, but no root anymore.
Magisk 19.1 install is failing from the Magisk manager app :
"unpacking boot image
unsupported/unknown image format
installation failed"
How to get root access with this ROM version ?
Edit : it worked when installing from TWRP

so i found a afh (Android File host) user named cookie.....

UPDATE:
I was able to contact him and got an answer
He stated that he did not have an Xperia x to test this ROM
But told that I could test and send feedback if it works or not.
Maybe you can write a PM asking if you can test too! (Anyone who reads this can ask!)
This whole thing feels weird.
On first flash, recovery says the ROM was created by jhenrique09, who is an official maintainer of PE. But after searching both jhenrique09 and PE's official Github, there's no sign of suzu on the list. I'm assuming this is a port. This brings us to another problem.
A quick look at the file name reveals this ROM is based on 4.4 kernel. As far as I know, there is no Pie ROM out there that is using 4.4 kernel (Chippa_a's LOS uses 3.10, Omni and Treble uses 4.9). The closest thing I could think of is Omni 8, but why port a Pie ROM using an Oreo base?
Lastly, who would make a ROM for a phone they don't have?
