Old Android Apps - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to get old Android Apps for Android 2.3 ( gingerbread )? I need the old VLC to play some .m3u InternetRadio Files and one of a Kodi Remote App, like Kore, Yatse. I was searching the Internet but I didnt found anything to get the old Apps.

If you go to a trusted source such as apkmirror, you can look for previous versions of apks. I believe that some of the apps you are mentioning weren't created at the time or made to support gingerbread.
You could try installing a lollipop or marshmallow custom rom to get access to most latest apps. Marshmallow is currently the minimum api, though lollipop still had great support up until recently

Android Gingerbread is from 2010, by doing some google searching I found out that:
-VLC's android app was first launched in 2014, so you won't be able to get that for gingerbread.
-Yatse was released in 2011, so a primitive build might be available, but it wouldn't be too useful.
-The XMBC Official remote app was launched before yatse, so a primitive build of that may also be available.
The point is, Android 2.3 is heavily outdated and long gone. If you mention your phone's model here then I can walk you through the process of installing a custom rom, and also find a suitable rom for you if you need any help in that category.

But I have used VLC and XMBC remote apps on my Mobile, with Android Gingerbread, 2 years ago. But I cant find the apps anymore.
Do you have an link for Anddroid Marshmallow or Lollipop? My mobile is a Samsung GT-S5300.

Android 4 is available with some googling, but has some bugs.
My bad regarding the vlc apk. It was released in 2014, but is compatible with android 2.1+, let me give you a link to the latest stable version for android 2.3:
VLC for Android 3.0.13 (arm-v7a) (Android 2.3+) APK Download by Videolabs - APKMirror
VLC for Android 3.0.13 (arm-v7a) (Android 2.3+) APK Download by Videolabs - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads
www.apkmirror.com
Yatse and Kore are both android 4.0+
You could try this xmbc remote app apk:
Download Official XBMC Remote 1.0.9 for Android | Uptodown.com
Download the latest version of Official XBMC Remote for Android. A remote control for XBMC. Official XBMC Remote is an open source application that allows...
official-xbmc-remote.en.uptodown.com

The XBMC package works well. But On the www.apkmirror.com site, VLC is not available

[Q] CM 6.1.0, Froyo and Latest Version of Market

I have since a long time ago installed CM 6.0.1 with Froyo 2.2.1 on my Viewsonic G Tablet. It seems that I am stuck on the same version of Market that I have had since this installation late 2010. Is it possible to update to the latest version of Market given the above version of CM? I have at least one application, Pleco, that does not allow me to download in-app purchased content to the tablet although I have no problem downloading same to my Google Nexus phone running Android 4.3.
Market is version 1.82, Google Services Framework was recently updated to 2.2.1 but I also have Google Play Services which is at version 3.2.25. Is it possible for me to get the latest version of Market, or Google Play, as it is now called, or am I forever stuck on version 1.82?
Thank you.

Android 8.x on Pixelbook - It's possible?

Hi,
I want to play with Moonlight ( play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limelight ), but capturing mouse on Android < 8.x ( github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-docs/wiki/Setup-Guide ) is impossible without root:
Android 7.1 (Nougat) or earlier, using an external mouse with proper mouse capture on Android requires a rooted device. If you want to use an external mouse on your rooted device, you should download "Moonlight for Rooted Devices" on the Play Store or app-root-release.apk from releases. NVIDIA SHIELD devices and Android 8.0 (Oreo) have mouse capturing built-in that Moonlight uses without needing root. Moonlight for Rooted Devices is not available for Android 8.0, since the non-root version contains all features that required root using the new Android Oreo APIs.
To toggle capturing the mouse cursor on Moonlight for Rooted Devices, press Ctrl+Alt+Z.

We've got Android 7.1.1 on our Pixelbooks right now, so there is any way to upgrade it into 8.x?
If not - what's the easiest way to root it? Do we need root (turn on dev mode) on chromeos first?
Google said they will skip Oreo and go straight to P, so the only thing we can do is wait unfortunately.
Thanks for response. That's not ideal situation, but at lease I know what's to expect. I've got already Android P on My Google Pixel 2 via Beta channel. Do you know if it's available on Chromebooks beta channel?
Unfortunately it's not available on any channel right now and I'm afraid it won't until Google releases final AOSP code.
There were some code commits on Chromium code repository that mentioned Android P, but so far there is nothing in the public releases that we could test.
Thanks again.
So looks like only way to make it works it will be root android on my chromebook.
Do you have any experience with that? I guess first step will be switch ChromeOS to Dev mode and then we can start play with @Nolirum script provided on this topic:

No, I didn't have the need to use root on my Chromebook so far

How can i install an app, which is said not compatible?

Its the app: apkpure.com/transit-menetrend-mvk-zrt/com.menetrend.mvk, MVK Zrt, TransIT
It can be found in Play Store too. I've a Doogee Titans 2. I was with originally 4.4 android. My friends version with originally 5.0. I use it without problem on 4.4 but my phone was updated to 5,0 rom.
This app says not compatible now. If i try the apk, only say: app not installed.
The phone is not rooted yet.
How can install this app? - the only reason why I need, its the only app what can show the real time information about local public transport (bus, tram).
Someone use it on 5 or later android (but not on this Doogee).
Thank you very much on any help!

Having problems with Netflix running on rooted android

I run an unofficial AEX OS on my Samsung J7 2016, I tried installing the apk recommended on Netflix's site but it shows a message saying this device is not supported by the app. The only solution I found so far is using a modded version of Netflix from 2017. I really want a newer version of the app, even if it's not the latest. Can anyone help me out
Netflix are indeed blocking users who are rooted or have unlocked bootloaders from downloading their app off the Google Play Store. Their latest 5.0.4 release also It's reported that it seems to remain fully functional on rooted/unlocked devices when the application is downloaded from a third-party source, and then installed.
