General Realme GT 5G 2022 Review: Still a Gem + video MIC issues + solution - Realme GT

<Moderator Edit>: Removed self-promoting YouTube video.
Hi guys,
bought recently the Realme GT for a secondary phone, and tested for a good quality time. Here is my video review of the Realme GT 5G and how it`s holding up in 2022!
Honestly for the price I paid (350 EUR) for almost a brand new phone with 2 years of warranty and the stock screen protector on it, this phone does the job! The only BIG issue that I had was with the muffled sound on the videos (you can check my video samples).
This was so frustrating for me as one of the purposes for the Realme GT was to use it for video creation (shoot some of my other phones). When I did the video samples in the outdoor especially the part where we are riding a buggy in the mountain the issue was NOT obvious, but when I shot my first video on the Realme I instantly recognized that the sound was somehow muffled!
As if Realme UI 3 is trying to perform a very aggressive noise cancelling or heavy EQ processing. Anyway - was not happy, but I read here and on reddit and indeed using Open Camera with different settings for the audio fixed that issue!
So now I am completely happy with this phone and it will probably stay with me for some time.

<Moderator Edit>: English translation added to the top.
Hi how are you? Where can I find this tutorial to improve audio using open camera?

[NEW] Xiaomi GoPro!!

Hi everybody!
This is my first post here in xda, so lets get started!
Xiaomi has anounced that they are working on a new action camera, like the gopro, which will record at 4k in 30fps, and 1080p in 120fps!!!! The sources estimate the price about 130€.
I'm so excited because this christmas I've thought to buy the new GoPro Entry Level, but with this Mi Camera... And this specs... I think I'll change the present [emoji23] [emoji23]

me too haha....some months ago i bought a sj4000, for the price is a very good camera
do not like xiaomi gopro...
Blackview DV800B is better than xiao mi action camera
Hi, somethings you said about xiaomi action camera are wrong:
1. xiao mi action camera not a 4K camera,it is 1080p camera,
gopro is 4k camera > blackview DV800B 2.7k camera > xiao mi 1080P camera.
2. 1080P/120fps? no xiaomi max resolution is: 1080P/60fpx
you can get more details about blackview dv800b and xiaomi official website.

Sorry man, but my info was wroten more than 4 months ago, so was only rumors as we knew. A few weeks ago the yi camera was released, so now you can compare both info, the good ones with the rumors.

I am not much into xiaomi yi cam. Its housing material is plastic, and it feels like cheap plastic.
Here is a detail review on xiaomi Camera and the Specs and Features for Xiaomi cam and Gopro.

[Review] 960fps Slow Motion

Hi guys, in this video i show you the new 960fps slow motion feature on the Xiaomi Mi 8.
I'm using the Global Developer 8.11.29
Officially the Xiaomi Mi 8 supports up to 240fps but with the new updates we have the possibility to record at 960fps.
With this modality we can record about 5 seconds and the first seconds of the final clip will be played at normal speed and the final seconds will be played in slow motion.
The video quality is 1080p. So i was very excited...at the beginning.
But as i suspected... the video aren't in 960fps, but everything is slowed down by software.
So probably it's a 240fps fps slowmotion and then we have a digital editing that applies a kind of plugin, as the famous Twixtor and Optical Flow for computers.
So at the end the result is ugly too see and you need perfect conditions to achieve a good effect.

Not only Xiaomi is doing this "960 fps trick".

Yes there are a lot of devices that are "cheating"

Before buying, few questions about Redmi Note 5 (EU version or global) 3GB version.

To whomever hold the stock version (will not root) of latest firmware I have few questions, before buying Redmi Note 5 (please include screenshots):
1. What are the options for camera and manual (pro camera if exists) camera? Resolution list for both photos and video and every available option in settings, on actual camera menu (portrait, regular mode, video mode...etc.) for both cameras (back and front).
2. Can you change themes (like Huawei has)?
3. How loud is the speaker and quality? (Both earpiece and loud speaker).
4. Does notification led work on every app? (FB messenger, Skype, Viber)
5. FM radio and IR blaster (remote control) how does it look?
6. How good is the WiFi and network (cellular) reception?
7. How fast is fingerprint unlock?
I'm buying it for my wife, to replace her Galaxy S4...finally, to suprise her. Salaries in Serbia are crap, but I managed to save some money.
Thanks in advance.

I'm running MIUI 10 on Redmi 5 Plus (64gb, 4gb ram, global version).
Redmi Note 5 is definitely worth the upgrade if your wife owns galaxy s4. You would surprise your lady in your life.
1) the stock camera app in MIUI has some interesting features. She'll like it.
2) themes are very much customizable.
3) sound quailty is much better than galaxy s4.
4) led light always works (depends on settings).
5) I don't use fm radio/ir blaster.
6) the phone communicates well without any noticeable loss.
7) the back fingerprint scanner unlocks fast. It's just awkward to use with short fingers.
One more point to note that you will get a free phone case and 5v*2a charger. And obviously you will continue to use your wired earbuds. Thanks to 3.5mm audio jack. Your wife won't like large/bulky wireless earbuds.

I have the global 3/32 version with latest miui, no root.
1) Camera is "fine", it's not a camera phone, I suggest you watch one of the many reviews on youtube.
2) You can change themes but not in all countries, you'll have to change country setting to have it work. I don't use the function, I like miui as it is out of the box.
3) Both good
4) It does, I don't use the apps you specifically requested but for whatsapp, twitter, reddit etc it does.
5)FM radio works with earphones plugged in (the serve as an antenna); I use the Ir blaster A LOT for work reasons and the pre installed app has a list of codes but it's mainly chinese stuff, I use Anymote for TVs mainly.
6)I guess it depends on the service provider coverage in your area but I noticed that my note5 has way better reception than my p8 lite 2017, and it shows on battery life, when I have low reception on my p8 the battery drains faster, this does not happen on the redmi.
7)Really, really fast.
Also, battery life (for how I use it at least) it's awesome. I can effertlessy achieve 6 hours SOT with a charge.
Thanks for the info. But, can you provide me with some screenshots of some of the items I had questions for. Especially for camera.
Yes, I found some reviews but it was from firmware long ago. I need to see if they changed something for manual mode on camera.

I recommend Redmi Note 7 or some other device like Mi A2 which are same price/higher a little depends but they give better quality If you don't use gcam instead of Redmi 5.
1) Stock is pretty decent nothing to be proud of and the manual mode is pretty meh... you can record in 4k 30fps which is better than 1080p and you can use EIS but It'll crop and only works at 1080p which is meh there is portrait mode for the front camera which is also meh and edge detection depends on the lighting there is no portrait mode for rear camera aka back camera. GCAM greatly improves the quality on front and back camera It's way sharper, less noise/at all and for video recording well that's not that good but there are manual cameras on Google Play Store which I use and they're perfect with some post processing It's very good. Also GCAM unlocks Portrait Mode for Rear Camera and It works great... I mean If you want to take pictures that r serious then use GCAM but If you want ok pictures just for memory then use stock. However If you buy the Redmi 5 Pro version It has portrait mode in the rear/back camera.
2) Yes themes are ok but last time I checked you can't apply 3rd party themes which is extremely annoying from Xiaomi but maybe It's changed now but I can't help you cause I use HavocOS but they can change alot and even better If you use substratum along.
3) They're pretty ok/loud but Viper4Android greatly improves that but requires root.
5) FM Radio works not sure how It's on stock cuz I use Pie but It works and IR Blaster works too you can download the Mi Remote app even on Pie to use it. (U need to have headphonoes plugged for me)
6) It's good for me 4g but not 4g+ or something like 5g lol and Wifi is good.
7) Fingerprint is fast even on custom roms It's good.
Thanks, but I do not want to root it. Even my Honor 7 isn't rooted, has no bloatware, but I use crc apps which work fine.
Mi A2 has stock Android (Android One) which I do not like, due to call/message/contact app and some other things and note 7 hasn't arrived yet in my country and I'm afraid when it comes, it will be 250 Euros.

I think the only way is to root your phone.

Mi 10 fingerprint and camera problem

Hi,
My Mi 10 (umi) got hard bricked. I have sent it to authorised repair shop and they repaired it however the first issue I came to was that I could not add my fingerprint scanner to work but later I have sorted it out by calibrating the sensor. Today I wanted to record some video and opened the camera app. When I tapped on video I came to an issue. I cannot set higher resolution of video than 720p and 30fps. If I click on lets say Pro mode or Portrait mode the app crashes. Does anybody know what could be the problem and how to sort it out? Thanks for the response and sorry for my english.
Phone details:
Model: Mi 10 5G (umi)
Storage/Memory: 128GB/8GB
Software: MIUI 12.0.6.0 Global EEA (QJBEUXM)
Everything worked perfectly before hardbrick.

General Pixel 6 vs S21 Ultra - 4K 60 FPS Video - Who will DIE first?

I have updated my Google Pixel 6 now to the latest December Update so is my Samsung S21 Ultra.
This time - NO benchmarks - but... let`s just record 4K Video on 60 FPS with both phones!
Recently I had issues with Pixel 6 recording 4K Video on 60 FPS - after 13 minutes of steady recording the phone just becomes TOO HOT and video STOPS.
Did Google FIXED this with the recent December update?
Will the Pixel 6 phone BEAT the Samsung S21 Ultra and record LONGER 4K 60 FPS video?
Mod edit: YT link removed
Damn!
A friend of my just shoot 45 minutes straight 4K 60 HVEC but on the Pixel 6 Pro - so yep, I suspect Pixel 6 cooling is definitely better.
Also I got another friend with a regular Pixel 6 do the same test and the phone got too hot on the 11th of minuted and video stopped recording,
All 3 of us running the latest December build.
Can you guys test as well?
P.S. My friend with the Pixel 6 Pro got 45:36 minutes, and the phone split the video in 2 files (screenshots attached). So it seems there is a 10 GB file size limit for 4k60 video.

It's so amazing that the Pixel 6 can hold that long in 4K video recording and I just bought the phone a few days ago. This concluded my doubts that this is the best phone I've purchased.
The pro or the regular one?
Seems the pro is really the champ, probably better cooling and thermal behavior.
The pro actually, it is the best new flagship phone.
Well - I think it`s very close. I do prefer the S21 Ultra still (3x and 10x optics) and design and etc, but the 6 Pro is a killer phone.
Sadly - Pixel 6 is the best Pixel I can not recommend - as in my country the operators do not support VoLTE, VoWiFi and 5G - so you have to root it, use magisk modules, mess with the profiles to get some of that working and it`s just not fair for a premium phone

OMG! that is so sick, I hope soon there will be a 5G network in your country so you don't have to face this issue.

It's not about there not being 5G networks, but that google phones can't connect to the existing ones if you have a sim from a country where they are not sold officially.
