Question [DN2103] OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 2 - Wanting A Custom ROM. No way to go back to Android11? - OnePlus Nord 2 5G

I flashed OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1 and updated to 2 when it released. I'm desperate for a custom ROM so I tried going to fastboot mode. Instantly going back to OxygenOS.
I tried the rollback package but it wouldnt work. I tried mtkclient on Windows 11. Detecting but taking too much to connect. It says waiting for some VCOM thing.

ok, as long as I can understand tou should try to go on fastboot by using the tool with cmd (I don't know if it has compatibility issues with windows11).
other than that in a week the phone will arrive at my place and the first thing I will do is unlock bootloader and probably flash AncientOS because of OOS12's lack of problems.

The problem is that if I do 'adb reboot sideload' it gives me a fastboot_unlock_check fail or somethingand then reboots

adb sideload isn't that reccomended if you have to flash stock, you should do 'adb reboot fastboot' or 'adb reboot bootloader' and then follow this thread to flash the version you prefer:

but it's strange, if you unlocked already the bootloader, "oppo's roms" shouldn't block you to flash anything else, the bootloader relock could be a thing (you should tell me if when you reboot your phone it gives you a 3/5 seconds splash that tells you the bootloader is unlocked) if not you should try to do again the same steps you did to unlock bootloader as ex novo

Here's a question for ya. Why the **** did you install the INDIAN ONLY beta on your EU device? It clearly tells you that you'll **** up your phone if you do it and won't be able to roll back. And here you are complaining that you can't roll back. You should have waited for the EU beta or stable which ISN'T AVAILABLE YET.

Stuck in fastboot mode

Hi everyone!
This is my first time here so bear with me. I recently tried flashing cm12 on my kindle fire hdx 7" and apparently flashed it in the wrong place. Right now its stuck in fastboot mode and everytime I try and flash something it gives me this error:
Code:
FAILED (remote: flashing not allowed for locked hw)
I don't know what i'm doing wrong and it won't leave fastboot mode. Can any of you all help me?

Adb commands do not work in fastboot. What you need to do is reboot it with the fastboot version of the adb command that got you there.
Something like fastboot reboot recovery (I do not remember if there was a reboot system command). You can find the commands in the unlock boot loader thread in the original dev section.

I've tried that but I'm stuck in a bootloop.
In the bootloop, if you have a grey and orange logo, and you have enabled adb, you can use adb commands. With root, even shell. However, if it only boots to fastboot, your system is corrupted. Try holding down the plus volume button on boot to see if you can get to recovery.

Yeah that doesn't work. Is there any fix for a corrupted system?
The only fix if your bootloader is locked (which it almost definitely is), is to get fastboot to install an oem system or recovery image. I do not think it will work though. Read up on fastboot. Use the number code for our device before each operation.

No, those numbers are custom to devices and non-transferable. Also, my bootloader is old and unlocked. Sorry.

Nope. I tried a bunch of stuff but it didn't work.
Well, the bootloader of versions 3.2.3.2 and lower can be unlocked only, so unsurprisingly your (tekmeister98) 4.5.2 bootloader couldn't be unlocked. But why you, bowman1966, can't do it if you had TWRP installed remains a mystery to me.

Can´t unlock Bootloader

Hello,
situation ist this:
Cyanogen Recovery is installed and there is no rom on the phone. But it won't install a new one through apply update. So I tried installing twrp through fast boot. But it failed with:
FAILED (remote: Device not unlocked cannot flash or erase)
So i tried to unlock it which gave me:
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is disabled)
oem devices gave me tampered = false and unlocked = false
What can I do.
Would appreciate help
Morishno
Flash stock recovery and try unlock again.
Dumb Question but how exactly do I do that?
Just flash it via fast boot? And where do i get it?

You dont need to be sorry, thats okay i jus asked... Maybe OP didnt enable oem unlocking.
I didnt enable oem unlocking because it wasnt necessary. The device was unlocked and twrp and cyanogenmod were installed. But somehow cyanogen recovery was installed. Super user was away and I tried to reinstall it. Not knowing the recovery had changed I chose twrp/cwm to install it what resulted in a boot loop. No problem I thought just flash a ROM which didn't worked. No problem just flash a proper recovery it didn't worked. And somehow the device is locked again..
Sorry I was little brief when I said flash stock recovery. I believe if you revert back completely stock you can start the process from the beginning again. That would mean fastboot flash stock recovery then any firmware of OnePlus X. I'm not sure how a bootloader can relock itself.

Boot to fastboot and try to unlock bootloader, it will either says it's not allowed if OEM unlock is not allowed or unlock the bootloader. After that if you manage to unlock it, you have to flash TWRP

Bootloader is locked by default ? do you have unlock code? You may check my threads for getting unlock code. In order to flash TWRP, you have to downgrade from B370 to B320/B340 ? otherwise you will get endless boot loops. Download B320 firmware package, extract it, copy "update.app", create a folder "dload" on External SD card and paste "update.app". Turn off your phone, hold vol up+vol down+power button simultaneously and release all the three buttons when Honor logo shows up. Wait until stock rom flashing finishes. I recommend you to do a factory reset. Done! You may proceed to unlock bootloader and flash twrp.

Can anyone list the steps needed to get AOSP/Lineage OS on a clean device?

As there are different steps and threads all over xda as to how to go about rooting redmi note 3 and then installing a custom ROM, I was wondering if someone could list or direct me to the correct working method to unlock bootloader, root, and install a custom ROM.
Note: I haven't done any tampering with the device, no TWRP, no unlocking bootloader via the hack or official method. I have only installed OTA updates sent to the device via Xiaomi.

Are you suggesting that because the unofficial method is unreliable or because you think I am a beginner?
Both.. official method is simple and with unofficial u may get into firmware probs later while flashing roms which leads to soft/hard brick
Official unlock is recommended to avoid something bad for your device

Forget it if you don't have windows. Xiaomi's unlock tool does not support linux. So you can't go with official method.
And the unofficial method requires a modded fastboot ehich is only available for windows. You can't go with this way too.
So, no way out if you don't have windows.
Also don't think of unlocking it unofficially if you don't have windows because most of the unofficial unlocked devices get locked which again requires the modded fastboot to unlock it.
The last problem, seriously and sadly, doesn't have any other solution
I am unofficially unlocked and few days back i had clean installed ubuntu on my pc but now i am back on windows. Why?? Because my device got locked and i couldn't help but install windows. You have been warned!

Yes it can. Actually it hapoens mostly when we flash firmwares which have the unmodified emmc_appsboot.mbn file.
When we unlock unofficially this file is modified.
Thus flashing the firmware locks it.
I would not call it softbrick. When that happens you cannot boot anymore. Only fastboot mode is available and it doesn't allow us to flah any files since the device got locked again.
So we again need to go to edl mode which is only accessible by the modified fastboot available only for windows.
Enjoy linux?

Magisk (Root) install with Unlocked Bootloader

Credit to @user_ScoTTT for providing the files and instructions.
So @user_ScoTTT has unlocked his bootloader for his Chinese version via official methods and was kind enough to share with us the files and instructions.
The instructions he provided are as below as are the files if anyone wishes to play around.
Disclaimer: I have not tested this.
1. Download and Unpack the latest ozip full update package of the Chinese version of oppo find x2 pro by dragging the Ozip onto the ozip2zip.exe. (You can use the boot.img file i have provided if you prefer)
2. extract the boot.img from it (be sure to back it up), (after unlocking the bootloader) you only need to transfer the boot.img file to your phone.
3. Install magisk manager on the phone, click "install", click "fix a file", select the boot.img you extracted from the ozip image.
4. Turn off the phone, press and hold the volume-& power button to restart to bootloader, connect to the data Connect to the PC, use
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
5. flash vbmeta.img with "fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" to disable Verified Boot otherwise you will face the problem of not being able to boot.
6. "fastboot reboot" (reboot)
After that, your phone will reboot and enter the system, open magisk manager, it will show that magisk has been successfully installed. (Before this, you will be prompted that you need to repair it, click OK, and it will automatically restart once)
Enjoy Root!

Can I flash global rom after I unlockbootloader ? And what if I can flash, do I need to keep bootloader unlocked ? Because maybe OTA will be affected if I doesn't lock the bootloader again, but is it the same method as pixel phones ? Fastboot oem lock ' will work like this ? 2. extract the boot.img from it (be sure to back it up), (after unlocking the bootloader) you only need to transfer the boot.img file to your phone.
Enjoy Root!

So does this apply to the models bought in the UK? Don't tell me this is another Huawei situation all over again? They're notorious for not allowing bootloader unlocking!

Yep! EE Model here, the App says "Customised Carrier Device" so it wont let me Unlock, so yes. UK for the most part / carrier phones are not allowed..

Oppo has Released an App (works very well in China) and allows you to setup "in Depth Testing". Check the "Root Guide" Threat out in relation to this phone...
Hope this helps.
Hello,
My find X2 pro and unlocked but I can't rotate it, it doesn't start, there is a red triangular at startup indicating a problem with the recovery.
I think the vbmeta.img file doesn't want to install.
Anyone have an idea? thank you.
