Question Could be that Camera lens protector impacting the Pixel's camera? - Google Pixel 6

Hi
When i bought my Pixel 6 i added ringke's camera lens protector made of tempered glass.
Google Pixel 6 | Camera Protector Glass [3 Pack]
Protect your smartphone's rear camera against scratches and drops with the ultra-thin, full-cover Ringke Camera Protector Glass.
www.ringkestore.com
Anyone is using the Pixel without the lens protector and share some photos with and without the lens protector ?

Yeap, sure can. Refraction and back reflections (ghosting).
The outside rear cover "lense" is the lense protector. These are normally cheap and easy to replace if damaged. Use a case with a raised cam guard and it will likely last the life of the phone.

Hmm i removed the tempered glass that i applied, will check today if it fixed my photo taking experience.
I do know that "glue" is applied and the heat from the phone might cause blurriness due to that.
btw i do see improvement already, focus wise not that much, damn even with laser based focus and PDAF it's not working well..

I got this for the 6 pro and works really well only prob I have seen is lense flare from the sun other than that it's good I did make a post about it

I never use one again, it causing color issues, weird haze, photo which looks un natural and lots of artifacts on scenes with Wide Dynamic range, but the one which you shared is only protects the surrounding area of the lens, and not touching them.

Camera lens glass issue

Hey guys, my camera has been taking not so great pics lately, and Iv always suspected it was because of my camera lens glass cover that is on the midplate
the glass itself has some wear on it from light scratches, and it has a group of tiny bubbles on the glass itself (im thinking there is some protective film on the glass on the other side)
anyways , I took off the midplate and took a picture without the glass.
results = my pictures were AMAZING... the clearest, sharpest ever seen on this phone.
how can I make this permanent?... is the glass replaceable? ... can I remove the glass and let it run naked?... is it safe?.. (with a battery cover and silicon case over it)
any suggestions?... thanks guys.
I think the same thing that happened to the glass can happen to the lens.
直接更换玻璃,贴个保护膜!一切ok

Hi,
Do you have the pics to show how you removed the midplate? I am thinking of modding my samsung vibrant to a non-camera one. I know it sounds silly but my workplace doesn't allow camera phones

[Q] Camera lens scratching?

Hi Z5C owners,
The Z1C and Z3C camera lenses scratched very easily, leading to flare from bright light sources.
How is the Z5C lens holding up for you? Are there many scratches on it?
Thanks!
Aidan

I also have the same problem, it turned out that this was not glass and a small circle of plastic, for the money, and could attach glass
i bought devilcase lens protector, it's great, pictures are clear and sharp
Nillkin tempered glass comes with back screen protector and for the lens as well.
You really need to put something on that "cheap" lens cover. Else, by time, pictures would flare badly on light sources.
Had to learn from my Z1C and Z3C

Rear camera lens replacement

Does anyone have any idea where we can find a replacement for rear camera lens , as many of us are facing scratches on the lens
There is no separate lens, you need to replace the whole camera module. That's why I pay more attention to that rear lens than to the LCD screen that is protected with a glass protector.
I think Motorola should give a free lens panel replacement for Moto G4 plus users 'cause most of the phones have this issue including mine, I did notice that there's a little difference in the quality of pics taken from the rear camera now that I have a few scratches
The lens on any photo camera need care in handling to avoid any scratches. Some pro lenses can take filters in front of the glass, but the point and shoot cameras don't.
Why would be different for the phone lens?
After doing some research on Google & our very own XDA I found out that the scratches are actually not on the camera glass but on the Oleophobic coating applied on the rear camera glass. There are lots of videos available on Youtube on how to remove scratches on mobile camera glass, the procedure usually needs regular white toothpaste or Rubbing Alcohol etc. My moto g4 plus's camera was giving blurred pics due to those scratches but I finally got rid of those issues. One thing is for sure that Moto has used a cheap quality Oleophobic coating on the rear camera glass & they must provide a replacement for that.

I used Colgate and seemed to remove the scratches(to some extent). What's more important is that the rear camera quality was bad with those scratches and now the camera quality has improved significantly.

Guys i too got scratches on my moto g4 plus...tried all methods but dint worked...but i tried a diferent method and it realy worked...just use transparent cellotape...bt b sure that the tape doesnt have any marks and lines...should be clean without any smugges...simply paste it over the rear camera outer lense and gently place it and make bubble freee...and c the magic..the celotape takes away scratches away and ur good to take pictures wid it...but this is just a temporary method...later just replace the celotape with another if it gets scratched again...try it guys ...itz better dis way dan rubing all dos stuffs..coz it made more scratches trying house hold items...use Cellotaper transparent n see the magic.....
Rear camera glass repair.
After my recent findings....I see that the olephobic coating on the rear camera glass got scratched. It is now of no use for me to use Colgate toothpaste or alcohol on the glass. Can someone tell me the permanent solution for this?
I got mine fixed from a mobile repair shop, where they replaced the rear lens with some plastic cutout lens. took like 15 minutes, works perfect now .

Sadly I tried the toothpaste trick and it actually ended up making more scratches ?
However on my Nexus 7 2013 it removed all scratches ?
Is the Oleophobic coating thicker on our Moto G4?
Should I scrub the toothpaste for a longer period of time?
Use Baking soda to remove scratches . It worked like a charm for me. Rub it for longer time until the camera quality is restored.

i dunno if everyone know about this. but there is a thin oleophobic coating or sheet over the lens. I got scratches on that. what i did was i removed it and replaced it with camera lens protector

Anybody replaced their camera lens? Is it available at care center? Also if you did,how much it costs?

Camera lens protector

I saw there are camera lens protectors available.
Are they useful.? And do they not affect the image quality?
I do not have experience with them.
Guess no one does...
Haven't seen those yet. I'm wondering if they're using a sapphire lens like they have been? Anyone know what its made of on the u11. If it is, you're fine without.
IMO camera lens protector are not necessary if you are using any kind of case to protect the phone, usually the cases are thick enough to prevent the camera lenses from getting scratched

Protector for camera bump?

Is anyone planning on putting extra glass over the cameras? This shouldn't effect the photo quality or AF, right? Any recommended brands out there? Or are you just relying on the raised bezel for whatever case your're using to protect the camera array?
I'll only protect mine with a ringke case, although I'm worried about possible scratches in the future.
The usual go to case for my phones, Spigen Tough Armor, this time comes with only a thin lip over the camera lens and screen. There is like a 0.1mm clearance once I installed dbrand camera skin. I am disappointed in the casing. The past 2 series (Samsung Note 10+ and iPhone 11 Pro Max) had thick camera lens clearance (almost like 0.5cm).
im worried that it may screw up the TOF sensor or somehow mess with the quality of the pics...
anyone have experience on previous phones?
I protect my camera lens with the gadgetshieldz skin or camera protector, The camera protector protects my camera lens from scratches.
I have a dbrand skin on it that covers everything but the actual surface needed for pictures. Don't think I need more than that. Also after watching all the drop test the camera is the last thing that will break or stop working.
They have "tempered glass" screen protectors on Amazon for preorder. There is a hole cut out for the flash and mic. I know it's not quite the same but I've had a tempered glass screen protector on my gropro without any issues.
The camera glass is so big on the s20 ultra, it feels like it needs a screen protector. For $10 on Amazon it might be worth trying out.

Only problem I'm concerned with is the auto focus having even more issues with an extra layer of glass.

Yeah I rock my phones ceaseless but have the entire back with dbrand and a dome shield on the screen. I feel really good about the look and feel of my device.
Just applied the tempered glass screen protector for my phone. It looks good without flash. But when I use the flash, the shot looks hazy. This is going to be a no go for the tempered glass screen protector. See the picture I attached.
How do I record calls in samsung s20 Ultra. Can some one please help ?

Be best if someone did a glass lens cover that had cutouts for every camera / sensor - rather than risking performance issues by covering them.
Does anyone know of an option like this? - All the ones I can see only have the cutout the for the flash or flash and TOF .. but not the cameras.
Other option is to use a transparent skin i suppose..
Spigen Neo-Hybrid.

Otterbox defender pro. 44 at walmart. Best money I spent. Shockingly not too bulky.

I got one with the flash & mic cutout & it works great, not noticing any auto focus issues or flash diffusion. They're pretty thin and scratch resistant I'd say its worth giving it a go.

Got a link?
I got the ESR one
I've got a Mocolo 9H hardness lens protector, works perfectly
I found this and installed it to get a little extra protection for the Camera Glass - the fit is good - installs easy and I have not noticed any issues when using the Flash. It does require that youi carefully place the screen protector on the camera bump (glass) lining up the holes correctly - but they do give you four screen protectors if the first attempt doesn't work. You can find them here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08546Q3LJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
