Hello all. I hope I have the right forum for this question. I have recently moved from Iphone to a Galaxy S2. One of the most useful apps on the Iphone for me was the factory supplied 'Notes' app on the iOS platform. What was even better about this was that it syncs with notes on Gmail/google and on more than once this feature has saved my skin as I tend to store a lot of everyday notes on this, so rely on it a lot.
Question is, is there a similar app on Android - preferably free but the most importance feature must be the same ability to sync with Google.
Maybe you try ColorNote or Evernote, both support online sync.
Hey everyone,
I've been googling for many hours. I've been to many shady places. But I've come up empty handed.
I'm basically looking for an app, that can provide syncronisation between a folder on my device, and a folder on <insert cloud storage here>.
I'm personally trying to migrate away from Dropbox, of which I've been a heavy user for many years. But in the light of the recent NSA gate, I thought I'd take a look what else is out there. I've chosen MEGA, as they provide (on paper) the security I like, and enough storage for my cloud-storage-needs.
I've been using Dropbox to automatically store the images I've taken with my phone camera and I take a backup of my texts every night at 2pm, which is also, automagically, uploaded to Dropbox. The official MEGA app takes care of the first, but the latter is taken care of within the backup app itself. It can be disabled, though.
I've looked for sync apps, but neither those or apps like Helium doesn't support MEGA.
So dear XDA,
Is there hope for me?
ownCloud provides universal access to your files via the web, your computer or your mobile devices — wherever you are.
It also provides a platform to easily view & sync your contacts, calendars and bookmarks across all your devices and enables basic editing right on the web.

Hi all,
I own three android devices, a (more compact) Galaxy S3, for using when going out to more formal and elegant events (as it hides away better in a suit pocket or my wife's purse) or situations where I want my phone to be less obtrusive, the Samsung Note 2, which is my workhorse, use it daily all over, as well as a Note 3 (the tablet, when I need screen space, or are taking more serious/longer notes, edits, reading books/articles etc, etc).
I have different apps on the different devices, but would like to sync the apps. NOT the APP DATA - that's simple with Google and/or cloud integration etc. I'm talking about the actual apps. In other words, say I'm at the restaurant, and a friend and I are discussing something relating to photos (since we just took a pic and uploaded to FB), and I install an app that we discover....I'd like that app to automatically install to my other phone and my tablet.
Anyone have any suggestions? Whenever I search for "sync" of any type, including various ther words, I always get to advice on syncing your app data via Google or Kies or other cloud services etc.
Thanks all
On my Note 10.1 2014, the SNotes are integrated into Evernote
This works well for me as I can see my notes on other devices.
Does the S3 offer anything similar? How do you get to view notes on PC for example?
I´m working with Evernote. The new Evernote-App recognizes the S-Pen once it is used to draw with and then doesn´t take the hand as an input device any more. So I can rest the hand on the screen while writing. Evernote syncs with all devices.

Hi, can you please clarify? I have evernote premium as well. I am able to write in the note with spen ( not in the keyboard area) only if i chose new note handwriting. And even then, any touch with my hand still draws on the note.
I would like to be able to write in any normal note with spen, whenever required, and my hand touch to be disabled.

I am not talking about the keyboard area.
When I open a new handwriting note, I can use the finger. But when I touch the screen once with the S-Pen the app discards the finger touch and it takes ths S-Pen as Input device only for that note.
BTW:
When I don´t have to sync inbetween devices, but use a notepad for writing a whole seminar instead and share it later with Evernote, Onenote oder PDF, I´m using LECTRURE NOTES. Since years this app recognices active pens (to be enabled in the settings) and it can be used like the old paper, with hands resting on the screen while writing. Some years ago on my Note 10.1 this app was the only way to do that (Evernote didn´t recognize the S-Pen), but now Evernote seems to have changed it
Thank you for the answers. I am still unsure about the level of integration between SNote and Evernote on the S3. On the 2014 edition handwritten notes in SNote are automatically copied to Evernote and hence synced across devices. As I find SNote much easier to use for recording handwritten notes, I really appreciate the syncing feature of Evernote that allows me to view these notes on other devices. My question is does this still exist on the S3 or has it gone?
If I have to just use Evernote then so be it but I would much prefer to keep using SNote for handwriting and then rely on Evernote to synch. Regards.
I did a bit of digging and discovered the S3 doesn't support SNote. It has another app called Samsung Notes. This doesn't appear to have any Evernote integration at all and can only be synced using Samsung cloud (which IME is useless) and Google Drive which might work but wont help viewing the notes on other devices. At least with Evernote you could actually see your handwriting in the SNote if not edit it.
Looks like you have to use the native handwriting in Evernote if you want cross platform compatibility now. Samsung really like messing around with stuff and breaking the link with their users. I will look at IPad Pro 10.5 very carefully now.

You can install S note on your tab S3

Try OneNote. The pen works with hand block detection.

Hej, so i use macbook, ipad Pro and instead of an iphone14 i went for s23 ultra. So far happy but facing some difficulties to get used to. I know apple and samsung apps do not really 'talk' so looking for your inputs regarding sms or call app that informs both OS at the same time? Also, how do you share images to ipad now that airdrop is not a thing for me anymore.. Need to find a way.
I also ditched apple books for amazon kindle and paid for moleskin journey app that works with both iPadOS amd Samsung platforms and syncs well. Looking for any app suggestions that works on both iPad OS and samsung/android.
Thanks in advance .

I use Google Drive to share files between iPad, desktop computer (Linux) and smartphone. Sometimes an external SSD drive.
Regards.
I have the same devices, Images I offload them periodically from the phone, you can use for example Lightroom, google photos, foldersync and a network share like on a NAS.
SMS Infos , you can switch from the standard messages stuff to the google messages, they have an option to view online. Calls i dont know, i am sorry...
Feel free to ask any other app types or workflows and can share infos.
BR
File sharing between devices , i use cable and Android Transfer , or cxfile explorer and filezilla on a mac , or just a network share where i copy the files from the phone , or sftp and copy directly on the mac from the phone.

Gdrive and google photos is my solution as well since my cloud storage now is google.
Lightroom could be a good idea. I have little knowledge about network share will check it out. Feel free to write any new app you find that syncs on both platforms.

for contacts and mails I use google services, on mac transfer all the contacts to the google account ,and calendar aswell , just use the google one. that will be present on the phone aswell , you have notes too that you can use on a mac. Alternatively you can use onenote if you like that better. these should cover it.
You got the basic answers except for sms and calls. If you happen to be on Verizon, their Message+ app will allow you to text and call on the iPad via your phone. You have to run the app on both devices. I did this a couple of years ago, but didn't really care for the app that much. I'm not sure what it is like now. As an aside, you can do this and still use a different texting app on your phone. If I recall, texts you send from the iPad won't show up in the other app though. Incoming texts show in both.

For notes i found a hack. Install google keep in ipad or mac, you can now share apple notes to google keep. Install keep in your phone and voila, shared apple notes are here. They won't auto update though but gotta live with it i had to sync my old notes from apple.
@Ornisense found another way. in the samsung notes app you can enable sync with onenote. then on the mac just use onenote
This is my setup:
MacMini M2 Pro and ipad pro 12.9 6th
Galaxy S23 Ultra and S22
Windows AMD based pc
I'm using Office 365 on all devices (family version, purchased with great discount on Amazon. It is happening sometime). This include 1TB of OneDrive space for all the users.
I've installed Onedrive on all the devices and Samsung Gallery automatically synch with OneDrive so I'm finding the pictures on all the devices at the same time.
Same tool also for the files (Onedrive is integrated in the Mac Finder and iPad File application so it is very convenient to use). Unfortunately Apple Photo is not synching with anything else but iCloud but there are alternative for picture magament (e.g. XnView or similar).
For notes I use OneNote. Working well everywhere.
PDF I have uPDF that with one license is working on Mac, Windows,Android and iPad.
VSCode is working in Mac and Windows very well.
Office app (word, excel, powerpoint, outlook) is installable on all the devices (Mac,IOS , Android and Windows)
NAS is where I store data in my house so it is a common place for all the files.
As file manager I use the great TotalCommander on Windows and CommanderOne Pro and MuCommander on Mac.

You have all the answers! My wife uses my google one subscription being a pixel user so it will be hard for me to change to onedrive but I'm keeping this in my head...
If you have a mac you can plug your s23U into it and in usb settings enable photo transfer to send your photos to the mac photo library.
There is also Macdroid and other apps if you need to copy files back and forth.
Too bad apple doesn't allow Dex any more as then it would be easy to run dex on your Mac and drag and drop between the 2.
