This module removes the restriction when selecting folders (Downloads/Android) through the file manager on Android 11 and higher (also available as a Magisk module through Fox Module Manager)
2.0 Update
* Enabled Managed Mode on the DocumentsUI (make sure to apply the module to the Files/Documents app)
* This change allows selecting /data and /obb folders on the Android folder (where as before they were hidden)
### Note
The signature has changed on this version so you'll have to uninstall the previous version before updating

This works brilliantly - better than the Magisk module! Thank you!

Hey, thanks for this, first time poster here, tried installing this on my Xperia xz2c (lineage-19.1-20221111) but couldn't get it to work, folders remain inaccessible when trying to move files... Any way you could share a .zip of this to install via Magisk?

Thanks for getting back to me. Sure thing, here goes:
As you can see, the "data" folder and the "obb" folder are missing. By the way, the first time I tried to move stuff, immediately after installing the app, those folders were actually visible as intended, but once I quit the moving process and tried a second time (and from that moment on) this is what I get

Oh, that's a different restriction (imposed by a different app)
My module is mainly to allow granting access to folders (downloads/Android) where it would normally tell you to create a new folder and not allow you to select that folder
The data/obb folders being hidden is a different thing
You could try this zip, tho it's a bit sloppily made, so i can't guarantee it'll work

LnkMgr v0.0.2.7 Alpha Released
Now includes fix for shared folders and minor graphic improvements
LnkMgr is a link/shortcut creator and editor for the Pocket PC. It allows a user to effortlessly create and catagorize links en masse in the Start Menu folder. It also allows you to remove invalid shortcuts.
More information and downloads are available here: Please note the site may go up and down, Apache/Mono is kind of flaky.

Hi dtsouers,
You have created a little tiny tool that helps to organize things better.
One question from me for what i have found on your website:
>>P* is the Programs folder located in StartMenu
>>If nothing is specified it will go into the StartMenu
It is possible to move links to P*?
Sample: the *.lnk it is in the main directory of \startmenu\programs.
Now i will move it to \startmenu\programs\sample_dir.
Great app! Now only if it looked and functioned a little better.. I'd cook into into my ROM for good.
First you need to use the Category Editor to create sample_dir in P*.
Once that is complete, find your link in the list and change the category to sample_dir.

I have it installed to my storage card, what is yours named?
Do you have a bluetooth sharing folder on your device? I've seen a issue where sometimes that folder is not always accessible and can cause errors when I traverse the file system.

Hi dtsouers,
my is named as: opslagkaart (dutch for storage card - system name)
>>bluetooth sharing folder
No it is a network sharing folder to get software from my server.
It is created with the Schaps_NetworkPlugin_1_0_30468_1.CAB
>>I've seen a issue where sometimes that folder is not always accessible and can cause errors
The network directory is NOT allways accessible.
Whoo linking managers; I like them!
Yet another nice application which I've added to my Feature Settings LNK overview page (hope you don't mind);

Installed on the memory card. Program's 1st start needs a little bit more time.
I think it is the link searching function?
Updated:

Now i have running the newest official htc ROM. This comes later on the day.
I will report later the rest of my tests, but so far so good.

[INFO] How to change startup screen

Aparently there are three distinct startup screens. This is a guide to changing the last one, in my case its the O2 bubbles screen:
You need a 800x480 pic, rename/convert it to '00.png'
1. Use 'Root Explorer' and browse to the /system folder. (you can of course use any of the other file explorers with root permission out there)
2. There is a button above the folder list called 'Mount R/W' click it.
3. Now navigate to your '00.png' file and copy it.
4. Navigate to the /system/customization/BootAnimation/images/ folder and rename the '00.png' thats there '00bak.png'.
5. Paste your '00.png' file in there...DONE
Heres one I made earlier:
Thanks for the info mate
hello thank's for the info dude. can we use a .gif file ???
and how to get sound with image ? thank's again!
Thanks for the info, if it wasn't for you I would most definitely be interested in how to change the image.

Sorry for the bump... Any tutorial on how to do this on 2.1?
I would imagine its the same.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Nope, the /BootAnimation/images/ folders don't exist.
On 2.1, I found a /system/media/bootanimation.zip
with sub dirs /part0, /part1
in /part0 there is a 00000.png (which is the O2 boot screen).
Didn't try changing it, but I bet that will do the trick..
Will try & let you know..
Awesome, thanks. I'll also give it a blast once I get home fom college.
That didn't work, that is a zip file, cant find where it is being extracted in 2.1. Will keep searching.
Only got a quick chance to play with it yesterday, but I think the .zip file is the answer. I think the reason it didn't work for us because it wasn't signed. Will try editing, and then signing, the zip file later.
Sorry to bump an older thread, but I'm still having no luck. Anyone have links to a recent tutorial that'll work on 2.1/2.2?
Of course it doesn't work, it was just some developers attempt to get you all to spend money on 'Root Explorer' apps!
You didn't fall for that one

For all the Trolls out there, you can use any file manager that gives you root permissions.
I was simply giving the steps 'I' did to get a different startup screen.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by trying to help the community.

The bootanimation.zip IS the file you wanna change if you want a different boot up screen. I have a bunch of bootanimation.zip from previous Android device and they work but for some reason when I try to create my own or even just modify the stock one and re-zip, it just comes up with a black screen.
didnt get the stock dell logo animation that comes with the att streak, but i did get rid of the o2 logo and its been replaces with the stock android one (looks rather android 1.0 -ish). and i guess thats more relevant.

How I fixed a broken note (can't open it, stuck constantly saving)

I had trouble with a note that crashed while recording and since then it wouldn't let me back into it. It just continually had the syncing icon in the middle of the note and when I tap on it to open, a toast message appears saying saving.
I have seen posts from others where they fixed a broken note by opening the note on another device that you sync your Evernote with, rename the tile or move the note and that fixed it.
kaze00 said:
Just ran into an issue where the app crashed while saving a note, and now I see the saving icon on top of the note, and if I click it nothing happens except I occasionally get a toast that says saving. I tried rebooting too. Going to try moving it around on the desktop and see what happens after a sync.

Update, editing on my PC by moving and changing the title seem to fix it.

Unfortunately for me though, my broken note was not synced to Evernote so I could not open it on another device.
Thank's to kool2zero who posted this reply from HTC because that helped me fix the problem.

Update from HTC regarding using notes offline and trying to sync an bunch of pictures and notes:
I understand that you would like to know if there is a way to retrieve a note that was apparently deleted from your HTC Flyer before it was able to sync. I tried to duplicate this issue by disabling Wi-Fi, creating four new notes with pictures, then reenabling Wi-Fi and attempting to sync but I was unable to replicate the issue. Your best bet for seeing if the notes are still cached somewhere would be to download a file explorer, such as Astro, Linda or ES File Explorer and search the contents. You may want start by looking under SD Card> .data> HTC Notes or if you know the name of the file you lost, try searching by the file name using the file explorer.

This is is a guide how to do it the way I did:
I basically went to the .data/HtcNotes folder on SD Card, found the files for my broken note, created a new temporary note, and overwrote that new note with my broken one.
* Create a new blank note on your flyer
* Record a few seconds of voice on that note (optional) only needed if your broken note has a recording on it you need to recover too (this is so it creates the.amr file to replace)
* Plug Flyer into a PC in Disk Mode (or use a file explorer app like htc suggest)
* Browse to .data/HtcNotes directory (see attached screenshot)
* Find the folder and files related to the broken note (tip: the folder should have the same 'modified date' as your broken note)
* Copy the folder to a temporary location
* Find the folder and files related to the new blank note
* Overwrite the blank note files with your broken note files, Note: make sure the filenames of your broken note are renamed to the blank note's filename
* Disconnect from PC and open notes app on Flyer
* You should now be able to open your note and sync it to Evernote.

It worked for me but I accept no responsibility if you loose your notes, any loss of data or any other problems at all if you try this.
Hope this helps anyone else who has trouble with notes
Thanks very much for the tip. Had been struggling for quite long. I had recorded a couple of interviews and as the recordings were quite heavy, the HTC Notes app was crashing. The note wasn't even syncing with Evernote too.

Where Does MetaMorph Store It's Files

Can someone please tell me where MetaMorph stores it's files/images once it loads a theme/etc.?
I'm not talking about "/AndroidThemes",..I'm talking about where it stores everything once it unzips a theme or lock-ring or whatever...
I installed a battery zip a while back and now they battery image just shows up randomly every once in a while...I wanna remove it from the device comletely & don't know where to look...

I think you misunderstand how Metamorph acts. It actually changes permanently your patched system files to theme your apps. Depending on which part you are theming it patches different files.

ahh...I obviously did misunderstand....I figured there was a folder somewhere with all the files/images in it.
..I notice when I flash a new lock-ring, in my image gallery there's the lock-ring image and a "drawable-xhdpi" & "drawable-hdpi" images...that's what gave me the idea there was directory somewhere storing files...
is there a way to make the battery image I flashed a while back stop showing?

That's likely an extracted zip from Metamorph. I think I misunderstood your question.
In light of this new information, you can long press the image file, then press the context menu button then Properties (last menu) and at the bottom of the dialog window you should see the path to the file. You can navigate to this directory using a file browser and create a file named ".nomedia" without the quotes. This will make the media scanner not scan this folder and thus you won't see it in the gallery.
Example:
File is located in /sdcard/Metamorph/theme1/folder
Create a .nomedia file in /sdcard/Metamorph/
Everything in this folder and the folders in it will not get indexed.

I appreciate your help!
this explains alot, but the problem I'm having is (see screenshot below please) on the top-left-hand side in the notification bar you'll see the small blue battery icon..I flashed that through MetaMorph maybe 2-3 different ROMs back, I'd say at least 3 weeks ago, and, at the time, the battery icon didn't show for some reason....and hasn't since then...
now it just showed up out of nowhere
I flashed a new ROM a few days ago (battery icon did NOT show up then) and then last night it just showed up....outta nowhere...
I want to get rid of it but, unlike the "drawable" lock-screen images in my image gallery, this actual icon/image is nowhere to be found (or seen)...
is there a way to remove it?
I mean I thoroughly wipe the cache(s) & system a few times before each new ROM so it kinda has me confused why it just showed up all of a sudden...

If you've flashed another ROM then that's not coming from anything you've done with Metamorph. The system files that would have been modified would be gone.

[Tutorial] Build Your Personal Magisk ROM

Figured some adventurous soul might have fun with this.....
Anyone who follows our thread in the development section of this forum probably has figured out that I am a huge fan of @topjohnwu and Magisk.
Our team maintains a Magisk ROM there. So I decided that I would try to show anyone interested how to make their own personal Magisk ROM that they can flash over the stock ROM provided by ZTE.
I'm not big on disclaimers. You flashed a custom recovery, Right?
This may or may not work on LOS based ROMs. I am an audiophile from way back, and I'm not gonna flash and test any of it until someone says," sound is fixed 100% " Not, "I can kinda get by w/ this or that".
It's why I bought the phone.
Attached to this post you will find two templates. ROM.zip, and badboyz.zip (I'm feeling lazy, didn't feel like messing w/ the updater script). Download them both, and unzip onto your desktop. Most of the editing will be done in the badboyz.zip. We will deal with that first. Here is what the file structure should look like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In the first folder, \common, there is a file named post-fs-data.sh. This is where you put your build.prop edits. I have left two examples to demonstrate proper syntax. Note that:
Code:
persist.adb.notify=0
As it would normally appear in build.prop becomes
Code:
persist.adb.notify 0
Feel free delete the demonstrative entries when you are finished with your edits.
You also will find a \system folder. If you have an app you would like to add to your ROM as a system app, or a system app that you have edited, i.e. SystemUI or Settings this is the place. Magisk will overlay the apk included in the stock ROM. You can also add edited files to /etc, /media, etc. just make sure to maintain the proper file stucture
Next we move on to the config file:
1) Call it what you want w/ no spaces (you'll need this later)
2) Call it what you want- This prints out on the twrp screen when flashing the module
3) This is where you debloat. I left two examples in the template (as seen in the ss). Anything you don't want to run, show up in the drawer,or on all applications, list it here keeping the proper folder structure.
Again, these entries can be deleted. They are there for demonstrative purposes.
The module.prop file is pretty self explanatory (tbd= to be determined)
Do notice that the module id matches the one from the config file........(where I said you'll need this later)
You can change both of these. Just make them match.
The rest- you can put your mom's facebook page, donation link for the red cross- whatever you want
So all that is left is to zip all those files up, and your ROM module is done.
Now let's make a flashable. That Rom.zip that you decompressed-
Inside there is a data folder. Leave the Magisk.apk and the PHH su apk there. You will need those. Anything else you have that you want to add throw it in there. Teeter.apk, Netflix whatever.
Then put your rom module (should be named badboyz.zip) into the magisk folder w/ the magisk.zip.
Now zip the whole shabang up and flash it over a bone stock ROM w/ a stock kernel.
Please follow THIS guy and donate what you can. Android will be a better place w/ him

Super info, thank you. Can Masquerade be integrated to allow Substratum theming?
HERE is some detail I have found, but I don't understand exactly what to do.
Is there a working nougat kernel for a2017G knocking around which patches for Safety net? The ones i found only worked with A2017U, so WiFi and a few other things don't work

Maybe a bit late: this https://xtremetricks.net/theme-stock-android/ seems to indicate stock ROM can be themed with substratum. If that is so, then you could include substratum in your personal magisk ROM.
Will this work on any android phone?
