Question Battery standby drain - Sony Xperia 1 IV

Hey guys.
Just for the record I am testing the Xperia 1 iv battery drain in standby.
The phone seems to drain over night by 20% that's alot for juice compared to the Google pixel 6 pro or over phones like the oneplus 10 pro etc.
I have started this discussion to see if anyone else here , having drain issues maybe due to the overheating issue to drain battery down but that's only if the phone is using apps that are demand CPU etc.
I will keep testing this ,my thoughts are, thats alot of battery drain for standby mode.
I think Sony my need to do more future firmware updates to address this issue

mine uses some 5-6 % overnight, generally veeeeery happy with battery life.
Maybe you have something running in the background that is killing it. Something that pings the network all the time. What does batt status tells you?

2nd time charging the device is a little better working out 2 percent per hour at present.
Thanks for the reply

Hi could you please give us your build number ? We have 64.0.A.8.25 in Europe, released the 1st of August, thanks .
in that thread* we 've been said , the 64.0.A.8.25 is only a safety one
* https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xperia-overheating-problem.4467263/

I am on 64.0.A.5.71 Running a dual SIM mode with a digital SIM. I am also rooted with Magisk 25.2. All my Google apps are removed, so my phone runs without Google support. No Facebook or social media apps, also no games. No battery drain happening. It mainly depends on the apps you have pre-installed. Some apps are capable to use mic, or gps in the background even when they are not active. Any unrooted device is a potential privacy, and security risk, specially when you have facebook and google apps installed.

build number please!!!

The august build

I am getting over eight hours sot. Now also a tip is to calibrate the gaming app to battery prefer and then select samina mode on on all your games
Theae settings on you get no overheating issues also if you play retro games or name it's not too demanding on your CPU.
Also I have social media apps installed over 330 apps including games etc and utils.
No need to root the device at all. Thanks guys

There is a new firmware available. 64.0.A.8.25 I am not going to try it, i don't want to root and reinstall my device from scratch. Mine only have 40 apps installed, mostly root related. Nothing allowed to run on the background, except call recorder. All my apps only have internet access if they are in the foreground, except my banking app and skype , icq . The device does overheat when the camera is active for a while, however I only have it about a week.

[Q] SGS 3 battery drain (system_server)

Dear Community, I got a huge problem regarding battery drain.
My Android System soaks a huge amount of battery, even so much, that my phone is using more energy than the charger provides.
This happens on XperianZe 0.9.8 ROM (with stock kernel) as well as the new stock ROM (XXEMC2) and I got no clue what I may actually do?
Any suggestions?
//edit:
Elixir2 shows that com.sec.android.providers.downloads (15,74% CPU usage) and security providers (com.android.providers.security, android, com.google.android.backup and com.android.providers.settings) (26,75% CPU) seem to be the main problems.
Play store is using 5% and the other processes are between 0 and ~2-3 percent....
//edit2:
Even if I stop these two the phone itself is charging quite slowly and if I start Ingress it slowly discharges...
Thanks in advance,

Try a different kernel with that ROM...let us know...
The problem itself still remains, I did also do a clean install of XperianZe 0.9.8 again (this time with Boeffla kernel instead of stock one).
And Elixir still shows the same processes as cpu usage hungry, but in difference from the stock kernel the phone charges while running Ingress, if I end these two processes.
But why do these 2 need so much CPU power?
Has anybody got an idea how to fix this malfunction?
I found out, what it actually has been...
The original cable seems to be defective, another cable works just fine.

[Galaxy A40] Battery discharging quickly with Pie - Solution or donwgrade to Oreo

Good afternoon,
I'm new to this forum and I don't know if I'm posting in the appropriate section. Please, relocate my post if necessary.
I'm quite a newbie regarding phone hacks but I can make my way through the various general processes related to phone updates.
I recently updated my Galaxy A40 to Pie (A405FNXXU2ASJ1, Oct. 2019) [update: after checking on the official Samsung website, I updated the original April version of Pie with the August update and the battery issue started aftewards] and the battery started discharging way faster since then. I'm really not satisfied with this issue and I would like to do something to solve or improve battery life.
I tried Package Disable Pro and disabled a few apps and packages, although I don't really know which services to disable exactly. I also added most apps to the standby app list in the developer options, but it didn't improve the situation as much as I expected. I used to charge my phone every 24 hours or so with Wi-Fi on all the time, no Bluetooth or NFC.
Would anyone have an idea to get a similar battery life (charge once per 24 hours) or explain to me how to restore Oreo (downgrade or flash).
Thank you very much for your help
Weird. My Pixel XL is experiencing slightly better battery performance on Pie. I OTA updated from Oreo.

Well, as regards Galaxy A Series, numerous forums evoke a decrease in the battery performances probably due to some bugs in the update energy management pattern.
The problem is that I had to change the phone to night mode and also charge a black theme in order to slow down the battery leakage while in use.

How much battery, RAM, and CPU optimization matters on Android?

How much battery, RAM, and CPU optimization matters on Android? Cause I'm getting 10hrs of screen on time on a 3700mAh battery.
So I have been using this Snapdragon 710 phone for over a year now and it's giving me at the very least 10h screen on time. ( Yes you read that right. 10 hrs on an average )
Things to note here -
• I don't use a SIM card
• My phone is constantly connected to a Wifi and a VPN
• I play games like FIFA or PES 40 minutes to an hour a day
• Rest of the time I browse Reddit, Insta, FB, watch Netflix and Youtube
• I do not use auto-sync and location
I recall using stock ROM (realMe UI) 8 months ago and it used to give me 6hrs of screen on time at best. Now that I'm using ROMs like Pixel Experience, RevengeOS, Oxygen OS, MSM Extended I get a much better battery backup. I don't close apps. Simply minimize them when not in use. My CPU always runs at a lower clock speed but the phone never slowed down or stuttered, thanks to 6GBs of RAM.
I went to stock ROM a few days earlier and used it for a week to check if I was wrong. Found out stock is still giving me 6hrs on an average which makes me wonder how much difference good software can make.
I do comprehend the fact that using a mobile network would cost some more juice. Then again, since I'm rooted I could use WakeBlock or Servicely to limit a lot of unnecessary background process that Play Services or apps like FB, Insta creates.
I'm sorry if it was poorly written. I hope you get what I'm saying. If you've ever encountered something like that please let me know. I saw people complaining about bad battery backup on phones with a 4500+ mAh battery. Can't phone companies do something about that?

Question Redmi Note 10 High battery drain even when not using

Hi y'all .
Recently I got a Redmi Note 10 4/64 variant . I'm currently using my old phone Redmi 6A , while Redmi Note 10 just lies in desktops corner.
MIUI 12.0.1 , 5000 MAh and 33W .
I installed one game to try the performance , then cleared all the apps and went to sleep . In the morning , I saw more than %25 battery drained for almost no reason .
•I don't even use the phone
•Bootloader is unlocked
•The phone doesn't have a SIM inside , so it can't get signals would cause battery drain
•The phone doesn't have any apps installed besides stock ones . I only installed one game and two or three local shop apps.
•I always make sure nothing runs in the background(the way I use the phone)
Here is the graph
Edit : I can feel device's little heat even when posting this.
The phone call you see is made by my mom . I did let her borrow my phone one time , except that the phone doesn't have a SIM inside as I mentioned
Same here, Android system draining too much battery

Hi guys ,
As I am using the same phone and same varient(4/64) I can suggest some tips to save your battery.(working for both 4/64 & 6/128).
This measures can be applied in Redmi Note 10/ Pro / Pro Max also.
•You should turn off your Wifi / Mobile data when not in use otherwise apps like analytics play store etc. can run in the background and drain your battery.
•Uninstall the pre-installed apps which can be removed from your phone like Mi credit, Mi store etc. If possible change your keyboard to google keyboard(g board).
•Don't Software update your phone it may consume more memory and also cause to drain your battery faster than before.
•Go to setting search for Authorisation & revocation
And disable the permissions of apps like msa, MiuiDaemon, System apps updater, Get Apps, Updater.
•Then disable the following :
Disable it ↑
• Then open a folder and click on its name and disable promoted apps option.
I think I have covered everything. If anybody wants to add something just reply. I hope you find it helpful, if so please subscribe my youtube channel:
The road to great battery life doesn't require extreme restriction. Here you can see the power consumption results for my phone. I should mention that Wifi and GPS are permanently on. Synchronisation is also permanently enabled for Email, Messenger and Smart Life.
It consumes about 3% of the battery in 8 hours of standby time.
I use the Pixel Experience Plus ROM.
It is important not to use any functions that permanently (even during standby) monitor any of the sensors. Such as preventing waking up in the pocket.
I have disabled all automatic updates.

I've been tuning battery saving on smartphones since Android 2.1
Current hardware doesn't suffer as much from sustained discharge as it used to. Today, it is no longer necessary to turn off Wifi and GPS. But now it is advisable to reduce the CPU power in standby mode, because the manufacturer leaves the power at an increased frequency in the base to improve the phone's response.

Problems I am facing with this phone after two years of usage.

I am currently facing many problems. Everything was so smooth when I first bought by this phone but after several updates,it began to lag.I can't play games for more than 30 mins anymore.I know the solution would be to downgrade the miui,so my question is,which miui version is best for this phone for gaming. Another horrible problem I started facing recently is overheating. The fingerprint facility disappeared completely, and just from 5 min of usage, the fingerprint sensor would heat up to around 100 degree celcius. How would you approach this problem?
Find the power hogs and deal with each on a case by case basis. A logging firewall can help you spot them. Debloat the useless apps that are using battery or bandwidth either with a Package Disabler or adb edits. Try temporarily disabling Google play Services, see if that helps.
Disable all carrier, Google and app feedback.
Rule #1 - if the firmware is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission let it be! This N10+ hasn't been updated for over 2.5 years, the current load is over 2 yo and it runs like a bat out of hell. Security simply isn't an issue in real time.
