Certinaly doesn't come off like a pre-order. No mention of the headphones, either...
I "pre-ordered" anyway. Hopefully it doesn't have any major problems in the lead up to fulfillment on October 20-24.

Yeah this NA release is a gigantic ****show

I messaged the seller (Mobile Advance) about which version the USA was getting (A, B, or C) and they replied it was C. Take from that what you will, though; I know ASUS North America tweeted that it would be the B version.

ASUS did not tweet it's B, some random guy talked to a clueless support rep who said it's B. Consider the fact that band 71 is literally not used anywhere else in the world (Digital Divide), we can assume the ASUS chat rep is a your run of the mill clueless rep.

Majority of places - and all places today, now that Asus announced US release dates - say that it will not arrive in Europe before 2012.
When it comes to the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe, it appears we will not be able to play with the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime before Christmas, as the device will not release in Europe until sometime in January 2012.

That's not quite true.
All these blogs use the same source, which was obviously wrong.
The source said, the Prime would be released in the US on december 8. Which is wrong too.
So the other information may be wrong too.
Still hoping for a this years release in germany...

Incorrect, Asus spokesperson stated that it will be released early January in Europe. 1st of December was the announcement of US release dates by the very same person, where the 12 and 19 december came (online and retail dates). Web is all over it.
January being the release date in Europe is currently most accurate out of all estimations. That might change, but for now that is the most accurate one.

Nobody knows that "spokesman", the only correct thing he said was the dec 1 for taiwan.
And ALL the internet has it from ONE source. So there's no real need to believe that.

Sign that!
But this proves how stupid ASUS is in that case. Cause currently this news spreads all over.
Meaning people get upset and maybe cancel their preorders / buying other tablets.
So I can't understand why they don't say anything att all! At least something like: sorry we really don't know yet.
All Asus Germany says all the time is: we can not give a statement.
Asus on their UK facebook page as still officially saying early January 2012 for the Prime. They seem well aware of how desirable it would be to get it out before Christmas ideally though. Also, the only model confirmed is the 32GB version with the bundled keyboard dock for £499.

Same as in Sweden. Early January 2012. And only the Champagne 32gb+keyboard package. They will eventually release more versions when they can meet the demands. But for starter they focus on the China and USA market and ships all tablets there.
And once again Europe is left outside and have to wait :/
And that's is from Asus Sverige

I wish! Just don't see it coming out so soon - gut feeling nothing else. Anyhows, I've subscribed to the thread so I can pre-order asap.
Silverwings ask them to put it in writing as everyone I've seen who works for Asus will only commit to an early to mid Jan 2012 release date.
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=2884857
for example.
Asus UK emailed me and told me it would not be released in the UK until January 2012.
Clove, Expansys and Amazon UK have all declined to comment on when they are expecting to have it available for pre-order. These emails were all received yesterday.
Zoro25 - I do actually have an email from them now stating 16th Dec but is that the date its being announced, or sold to the reseller or available to buy as a consumer? Your guess is as good as mine!
A copy of the email for what its worth:
Dear Customer,

Yep as you said it reads to me like 16th dec is uk release date for going in sale.
Let's hope its true.
A lot of places have said that Asus has rushed this to market to be first with tegra3 and has therefore messed up marketing and communication channels.
At the moment it seems that no one in their business knows what its happening.
Even the us release date is up in the air

In France, we have the same blurry statements.
One web retailler (tablette-store) announces an early january release when another (ldlc.com) has opened pre-orders for sending on december, 26th (too bad for Santa !).
Only FNAC (big stores in france and online) has opened pre-orders stating "avalable on dec, 16th". In my order status, they even say "sendin on dec, 15th". But some french bloggers seems to think that fnac is bluffing to get the early adopters.
I know both our markets are a bit different (with our azerty keyboards... ) but here are my 2 cents !

I sincerely hope that this price point turns out to be incorrect - Even accounting for a bundled keyboard dock, we would be paying about $200 more than our friends across the pond.
the next obvious question of course is, once it's in country. where can we buy said item? I have money to plonk down.
499 GBP for 32gb with dock is a great price. Take in cosideration that prices stated in the US is without tax. When it comes to sweden, it will land on approx 570 GBP with the dock.
Here in Lithuania we have 3 online shops stating they will be recieveing it on Dec 22nd as well.

So is there a dalay or not?

ok quick question? Is there a delay or not? Will prime launch at 19th of December ot not?
It depends on who you ask. So... no one really knows.
The Verge (I think it was them) got a response from Asus that said shipments will be going out the week of the 19th.
well sir, if you read any of the forum posts,
NOBODY KNOWS
its ALL speculative
You must not have noticed the 30+ threads trying to glean every word spoken or written by anyone even closely associated with Asus or any one of their delivery partners, tech blogs, forums or the palm reader on the corner to ascertain the actual day, time and second the Prime will begin shipping.
If we knew for certain the day I am sure there would be several posts clamoring to be the first to announce it.

Most of today's comments from online resellers are that they don't know when they're receiving their shipments and some saying delivery will most likely be after X-Mas. Check the Adorama, B&H, and Fry's threads for detail.
Best Buy's saying the 19th is on and people who pre-ordered there are trying to guess the hidden meaning of having their credit cards re-authorized (apparently they periodically re-authorize on pre-orders).
Amazon's canceled all 32GB and calls today indicate the 64GB won't ship before X-Mas.
GameStop has demo units and people have said some stores have inventory but aren't allowed to sell it yet.
Asus Canada's said shipments are delayed indefinitely while a Wi-Fi range problem is resolved.
And there you have it...

Let's look at it this way. No one besides asus know that question. So that eliminates almost everything posted on the internet by anyone besides asus.
Now let's assume that only asus can tell us the answer. Asus USA says it will be released on the 19th. Now you have two choices, believe that or don't. So you got 50/50 still. According to asus usa it's not delayed.
Bottom line seems to be this, in the interest of maybe forestalling other such threads (ha!): ASUS is shipping SOME stock to SOME retailers on or before the 19th. So, they'll live up to their public statements. However, they're shipping far fewer units to far fewer retailers than expected. So, only a select few with the right pre-orders at the right retailers (Best Buy and Gamestop, most likely) will actually get Primes before the end of the year.
Pretty much anyone who wants one should be able to get one by, say, February.
I think that's probably as solid a bit of speculating as anyone is able to conduct at this point.
Engadget is pretty reliable, they got something from Asus saying that it will ship on the 18th. Pretty sure it's shipping.

All of this.
Asus may have screwed themselves by not getting more inventory out prior to CES. People buying tablets for X-Mas will have made a different choice and people who haven't gotten one by January may wait based on how soon what's announced at CES is expected to be available. Once the "I have to have it first" wave passes there's no rush for existing first-gen tablet owners.

This appears to be their latest. It changed from the "19th" to the "week of the 19th" which may or may not mean anything.
Update: We heard back from ASUS US and were told the Prime is still scheduled for release the week of 12 / 19.

Amazon cancelled all 32GB Amethyst Grey orders. I still have my Champagne order in place.
I do agree that there is nothing much other than speculation, but reading that all 32 GB were cancelled scared me a little (That's my only pre-order) Even thought, I have already resigned to receive it after Christmas...

Boy, is there any better forum post to insight such a riot.
I personally think that Asus planned a Dec 9th release, but this was moved to the 19th for them to fix the minor wifi issue that was in the preview units. So the delay was already incurred. The problem would then be inventory ramp up which was slower due to fixing the issue. Since most of the rumors are coming from non-us sources or smaller chains, one can assume that this is really a supply issue and not an actual hardware delay.
I am willing to bet that if you haven't heard from the retailer you pre-ordered from about a delay, then you will probably get one shipped the week of the 19th. However, its all a guessing game which obviously has people sensitive.

If that's all it was, then Asus are idiots for not just coming out and saying so. When there's a problem, people are much more forgiving if you're frank and open with your communication. Asus Canada at least had the balls to tell their resellers that there was a problem. Asus U.S.' terse one sentence responses to inquiries by the media mean either: A) something's going on or went on that they haven't wrapped their hands around, or B) what you said is true and their PR people should be fired. And any one that says this is all intentional to build up buzz and intrigue doesn't know PR.
Bottom line is if the early units people receive work flawlessly then all of this will be forgotten in a couple of weeks and Asus will come out unscathed. God help Asus if after all the gymnastics people went though to get one there's common issues or problems. Especially Wi-Fi related issues because that's what Asus Canada reported as the reason for the delay and Asus U.S. has denied via their silence. If that happens their obvious rush to get it to market and all the secrecy about the delay will come back and bite them in the ass.

Absolutely No it Won't! Wait, I just read a site that claims that they heard another site that said that their little brother knows a tipster, that knows a friend who's cousin is a friend of a social worker, that knows a guy that used to work with Asus and says his inside source is as confused as this post is and all these other ones are!

Small Retailers In Canada Release Date?

Sorry If theres a thread like this anywhere, but i once heard that small retailers should be having a different release date. I looked around and couldn't find an ETA
for small retailers in canada anywhere.
I'm sure it must be different for many small stores, but i general estimate would be greatly appreciated.
None have a date here in canada yet. NCIX I have contacted and they do not have a date.

Not sure why they put up preorders so early when they can't even delivery their products a month later.
NCIX emailed me that they should come in either late last week (obviously didn't happen), early next week, or not at all this year... So vague. The fact that American retailers are shipping them to online customers is really pissing me off... Anyways, that's what I know. I don't know if I'll be waiting much longer than early next week (week of the 19th) for it to ship.
If it is not possible to get mine here in Canada.. I will more then likely just buy from the states. I do not know if NCIX is a big store compared to BB or FS. they were on their Pre order page.

WiFi/BT repair/replace Non-USA

I am one of the ones who is having the issue with WiFi/BT. I am in Australia. Based on Gary's note in the thread, I rang the local Asus customer support line.
The agent I spoke to was not aware that Asus is repairing/replacing Prime units. He said there was no repair or replacement program in place. He said he could give me a RMA number but I can only go back to the shop where I bought it and get a new unit except it also would be from the same C1 serial number batch that is being sold in Australia and so I would not necessarily be any better than just keeping my current unit.
He was also not aware that Gary or anyone from Asus are engaging the Prime user community via XDA.
What do I do now?

Received the wrong device -- thread

My contempt and loathing for Omate has grown to disproportionate sizes.
I started the who pledged and has not received a developer edition thread, and finally I was rewarded with a developer edition arriving on my door steps last week, but much to my dismay they sent me the wrong device. I should have received a 1/8 device yet I have a 512/4 device. At this point I think all is lost and I have no faith in Omate to make this correct.
Are you in the same boat and if so what steps have you taken to get this rectified?

I am in this same exact situation.
You can read about some of my debacle here on G+ with some screenshots:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/+Leeepster/posts/BSHt4vMXEkp
At my last count, there are at least 6 of us on the G+ community with this issue... if you are not one of them, you'd be the 7th so far.
I have contacted [email protected] (along with [email protected] and [email protected]) to seek a solution on Thursday, but there has been zero reply so far. One other user in the same situation on G+ indicated that Magan replied to him that he would have to pay international return shipping to HK for an exchange... which is beyond ridiculous.
I set a deadline of 4/11 in my original email to her and if there is no positive response by then, I am going to contact AMEX to rectify the situation via charge-back. Enough is enough.
I'm in the same boat here as well. However LLP commented on G+ and told me he was sorry... Which makes everything better </sarcasm>
I've emailed magan as well with no response as of yet. Not holding my breath though. (Tim Bass from G+ here if anyone is wondering.)

I'm the 7th, I expect nothing to be resolved with them.
If it helps I received an email from Magan today. She asked for my address, no mention of return shipping. I guess we'll see what happens. I kinda thought they already had my address? Lol
This was the email I received from Magan on this today:
USMART ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS LTD.
Address:Unit 501,5/F,KAM HAN INDUSTRIAL BUILDING,8 WANG KWUN ROAD,KOWLOON BAY,HK
Attention: Cammy Yip +852 3666-9964
Send back the defective one and I'll prepare you a new one

Not very helpful. I replied politely asking Omate to foot the bill for international return shipping. If they do not budge on that, I will just proceed to file a claim with AMEX on the matter and handle it that way.
Those of you with EU devices, what would you be asking for it, I'm in Australia and have given up on receiving my Developer Edition but maybe I could buy a 512MB model just to see if it's worth getting.

I've been contemplating selling mine. Would only want to do it if I could get enough to replace it with a 1/8 off ebay, which are going for roughly $300 USD.
