Question No OTA updates after emergency software recovery - Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

Hi all there!
Two weeks ago I connected my phone to my PC to download some pictures and Smart Switch told me that there's a software update available. In the past I updated the software of my old S7 this way many times and always it was ok so I decided to go ahead. The process started but it failed at 40% and phone was soft briked. Smart Switch told me that I need to do a emergency software recovery. Not having other choice I proceed with it but it also failed saying that there's error in the phone. Not knowing what to do I decided to flash the phone with Odin. Downloaded firmware from samfw.com loaded it in Odin putted the phone in download mode connnection was OK and pressed start. Process started but after short time also failed. When I tried to reboot it only showed the green screen saying that there were error while updating software. Not knowing what to do anymore tried several times emergency software recovery but always failed. After that I decided to bring it to a service center next day. On the next morning I decided to try emergency software recovery for last time before bringing it to the service and this time was successful. Now phone works ok but when I check for updates says that theres none but when connect it to PC Smart Switch says that there is update available. After all this bad experience I'm scared to use Smart Switch again. So the question is why the phone can't see the update and will it be possible to update the software with OTA again. If someone has similar experience please give me advice what to do.
Thanks in advance!

I thought that after all this that happened phone won't receive OTA updates but that's not the case. Probably there were some delay because it was available with Smart Switch but not via OTA. This morning I cheked for updates and there was update available and I installed it.

[Q] Updating Firmware failed.

Hi guys, not entirely sure if this is in the correct place but I believe it is, sorry if it is not.
Today i plugged my Samsung S2 into the laptop and Kies proceeded to connect and everything seemed fine. I then saw that there was a firmware update, I then proceeded to download and try to install it, this failed some how and it then tried to do an emergency recovery which also failed. So i turned the phone on and off again and the screen that appeared was a phone..warning triangle...computer.
I tried plugging it back up but Kies was not connecting with it anymore, and everything i have search about it talks about something called "Odin" and rooting, neither of which i have tried or read about in any great depth.
I contemplated going up to the local shop and seeing if they could do anything although i think they would be just as good as me.
Before today i hadn't updated any firmware at all since getting the phone in January, i have just been using it straight out the box. So my question is, can i fix it? And how would i go about fixing it?
Im am in the UK and on the O2 network if that is any use?

Can you try turning the phone off, then simultaneously press the Down Volume Key + Home Button + Power Button, keeping same depressed for about 10 seconds to see if the phone will boot and enter Download mode?
If it does, then you may be able to use ODIN as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 to properly reload an image.
Better send it to your near Samsung service center to have it replaced if it still under warranty.
if download mode works then jus flash stock rom via odin...an kies dosnt update the device if the space on main drive(ex--c drive )dosnt hav enough space i think around 30 or 60gb is required...an if u wan to update via kies only then flash old stock rom an connect to kies hope all goes well...if none work then try the jig (search on forums)well i made my own jig tht jus pushs the phone to dounload mode........cheeeeerz

[Q] Tried ICS update, now 100% bricked.

I went to upgrade my unrooted, totally stock Gs2 this morning to ICS via Kies. It downloaded the actual firmware to the PC, but froze on 2% for about 2 hours when upgrading the firmware to the phone
I unplugged it, and when I tried to turn the phone on in recovery mode to do an emergency firmware restore, it simply went to a screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Select Recovery mode in Kies and try again". I can't get out of this screen, and when I attempt to recover in Kies, it stays at 0% or cancels out...HELP!!!!
It wont let me do a hard reset or boot up in recovery mode.
Btw- The samsung rep I spoke to on Livechat said he had no information about the ICS update and refused to acknowledge it's release.
Am I totally out of luck, or is there a way to save my phone?
If you were running stock, and using Kies for the update, I would call AT&T for a warranty replacement ... unless you bought it as a refurb more than 90 days ago.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I think any sign of life (screen coming ON) means you can still recover it. Ask creepyncrawly on these forums, he has a ton of information on this. If you can't find him try mobiletechvideos they have JIG's and can recover for a price if you send your phone to them.

Checking in, I've got the same problem. I'm beyond frustration at this point because I can't even convince it to boot into recovery mode, which means that it can't conduct an emergency recovery...
Edit: Emergency firmware recovery just started working for the first time! I'm at 85%...updates as they come.

I would suggest flashing back to stock UCKH7. Follow the guide How to Prepare Your Phone to Return to the Store or for Warranty Replacement which is linked in my signature. Do this whether you were originally on UCKH7 or UCKK6.
If you know you started on UCKH7 then you can probably flash without doing a wipe data/factory reset. If you know you started on UCKK6 then you must do a wipe data/factory reset, and may have to do it anyway if you have any problems. You will lose any installed applications and personal settings.
In Kies "recovery mode" means "Odin mode". Pull/replace battery, hold down your volume keys, plug in USB cable and see what Kies does.
You should have posted in this already existing related thread. Read it, you might find an answer.

Yup, as out friend Miami pointed out, there is already a thread for this. Lets keep this conversation over there to avoid confusion.

[Q] Help rooted for wrong ota

Hi all,
Im new to the forum and did some searching but cant find the info i need. I tried rooting my verizon note 2 to casuals one click and didnt realize i had updated to android 4.3 prior. So it tried to root 4.1.2. Now my phone has the yellow triangle and says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I tried kies and kies 3 and neither one recognizes my phone. The only way to shut the phone off is to pull the battery. When i reinstall the battery i have a brief window to volume down+home+power and it takes me to odin. I saw this problem in the forums for roms but couldnt find anything on rooting. Please tell me i can fix this and go back to stock, and i didnt lock my phone up for good.I know im an idiot and i didnt back up anything. Ive learned my lesson and will do more research before attempting this again.I also realized there is no root for 4.3 yet. My phone was stock before i tried all this. Its the verizon sch-1605.Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Couple of things:
- if you've received the 4.3 update, your bootloader is locked and (currently) un-touchable. Don't try to flash, well, anything.
- if you've received the 4.3 update, you've also received Samsung's odius KNOX technology. If you do try to flash anything most things (especially recoveries), you'll trip the KNOX counter and invalidate your warranty (I believe it also means you can't use your phone in enterprise setups that use KNOX)
The good news is that you can restore your phone to working order! You'll need to install the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. XDA member scoobysnack posted a link to download the software, though you can also get it from any functioning Verizon Samsung smartphone that's plugged into a computer.
After you've installed the software, turn your phone on and plug it into the computer. Run the software and select the tab on the left column titled 'Repair'. Click on the repair button near the right side and sit back & wait. The software will download the 4.3 OTA and install it. Like ODIN, it is imperative that you not unplug your phone during this process.
If you have trouble getting the software to recognize your phone, it may help to put it into download mode. I had to go through this myself (I foolishly forgot about the bootloader issue and tried to flash a recovery. Sigh).
You can achieve root for 4.3, but there are some serious concerns about Kingo, the software the provides root. XDA doesn't allow links to them due to unanswered questions about privacy concerns due to unusual traffic capture going between the software and (apparently) servers in China
thanks so much. ill try it in the morning when i get off work.
Also when i was in odin and plugged my phone in, the software on the pc didnt recognize my phone either. Is that something i should worry about. I guess the box was supposed to turn green but never did. Many thanks
ok so i got home today and tried downloading verizon software update from the link you gave and it wont open the program. Ive tried on 2 different computers. so i called verizon tech to see if they have it cause i can only find it on the website described eariler, and they said they dont have it. Its only in your phone. Well i cant access my phone to get it and im stumped. They said to go into a verizon store and they should be able to fix it. What are my options? I dont have any data on the phone i need to save so can i just go back to a previous version or wipe it out? Or do i have to do a custom rom? Thanks in advance.

When you go into ODIN mode (turn off your phone, power on using POWER+HOME+VOL-DOWN), do you a line that reads 'KNOX WARRANTY VOID'? It would be in the upper left corner under 'SYSTEM STATUS'.
I ask because if you don't have that line, you didn't upgrade to 4.3 and your bootloader is NOT locked. You should be able to flash to 4.1.2 from ODIN and go from there (CASUAL to unlock & root, et cetera).
If you do have that line, then your only option is the VZW Software assistant. I'm uploading it now and I'll send you a link via PM. Please keep in mind that if you use the VZW Software assistant, whether your bootloader is currently locked or not, it most definitely will be locked after using it. If you're already locked, no harm done, but I'd make sure first.

I soft bricked my phone

I successfully rooted my phone about a year and a half ago, all went well. Sunday night I had my phone plugged into my computer, and somehow I must have clicked "update" in the Verizon Assistant thing. So it starts updating, and about 2 seconds later I realized what I did. So the phone finishes updating and then goes into the setup wizard. I got a couple questions in and got a message to the effect of "The wizard stopped working", I'd hit "ok" and less than a second later the message would pop back up. So I figured I'd reflash the existing ROM in Odin. "Fail".
Now my phone turns on and goes straight into what I believe is Odin mode. It says "ODIN MODE" with the same text it has in what I know is Odin mode. The only difference is that it doesn't have the green android in the center, it says "Software Update Failed - Your device didn't update successfully, Use the Verizon Software Repair Assistant on a computer to repair your device and complete the update". (Is this the same mode as entering Odin mode with the power/home/vol dn buttons?) So I tried that. Five times. Each time it stops at 83% and says the phone was unplugged. It wasn't, I tried combinations of different cables/USB ports.
From what I've found so far, you need to know my bootloader to help me. The ROM I flashed all those months ago (and tried to reflash recently) was "I545VRUFNC5_I545VZWFNC5", My original build was "KOT49H.I545VRUFNG6", The Verizon Repair Assistant sees "Version OF1"... So I guess I have NC5 or some screwed up combination of NC5 and OF1?
I *may* have had a little bit of data on the phone that I'd like to save, almost everything was on the external card, which I have now removed to prevent accidents. However, I believe I've already lost any data that was in the phone? I'd be perfectly happy to get it working at all, but I would like to update to OF1, since it appears it can be rooted. If that's wrong, I'd like to have the newest version that can be rooted. But like I said, working at all would be great.
Thanks so much for any help

Fairly new phone getting stuck on Odin after failed Samsung Update

IDK if this is the correct area for this, but Imma try here anyways. My friend upgraded his old S8 to the S21 5G about 2-3 months ago and has been having problems since a Samsung firmware update said his device had an error that needed to be repaired and had pronmpted min to check for an update, which it apparently found, and he had attempted to download and install it while he slept. Well, he woke up to find that his phone was now on the Odin screen for some reason. He took it to a T-Mobile tech center and they were able to get past the Odin screen by doing a Soft-Reset (Power+Vol Down, then Power=Vol Up after the device shut off) and it had worked for about a month. Queue the current issue... He's right back where he started, supposed device error, update found, attempted download and install while he slept, and waking up to the Odin screen. Only this time, doing a Soft-Reset does nothing. We've tried multiple tech centers and they all say the only solution is a full firmware reinstall, or to send the device in to be serviced, either way, that's the cause of the next issue. He has never used a Cloud service of any kind to back up anything on his device, and in doing a reset or service, he'll lose everything on his device, which includes numbers of recent friends and co-workers, photos that had been transfered from his old S8 to the internal storage since the S21 doesnt have Sd/Tf support, and a ton of other important infot hat he can't just lose in the process. Is there anyway to figure out how to potentially install a firmware w/o losing all the internal storage or some off-device program that could remove them. I have tried many different programs that say they can do what we're trying to do, but none have worked or have been up-to-date enough to even support the S21. I'll attach a couple files to show what I recorded of the kernel and the boot screen issue from my phone of his phone.
