Question Having a hard time rooting my Motorola Moto G Power (2021) - Moto G Power (2021)

So I have been trying to root my Moto G Power 2021 all day. I have been following the guide to using Magisk the non-twrp way, and I keep hitting the same snag over and over again. So far, I have successfully unlocked the bootloader, downloaded and installed the latest Magisk apk (Magisk25.2.apk) form the github page, and downloaded and installed the official Rescue and Smart Assistance (LMSA) on my computer. The problem that I am having is that whenever I plug my phone into my computer while I have RSA open, it asks me to authorize the computer to use it, but nothing opens on my phone to give me that option.
Before I am asked, yes I have Developer tools unlocked, the OEM is unlocked already (As I said above), and I have made sure that USB Debugging was allowed.
Please, tell me where I'm going wrong with this if anywhere?
The only other information I can think to add is that my phone IS running Android 11, but I'm unsure if that matters as I have seen other guides that explain how to root on Android 11.
Thanks in advance for any information that can be given!

Yes I did. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling it when you linked it in case I didn't have it installed correctly, and that still did not work.
The below image is what I keep getting when I attempt to connect to RSA with my phone, and nothing at all like that shows up on my phone to verify.

Had you previously authorized the phone on that PC, i.e., using adb, etc? If so, you may not have to authorize it again. Have you actually tried to do anything with RSA or just wondered why the authorization notification doesn't show on your phone? Does the USB debugging pop-up show in the status bar on your phone when you're connected? If so, you're connected and were already authorized.
Other than that, your antivirus/firewall software may be blocking the connection and you'll have to allow the app to connect to the phone there. May also want to check that your USB cord isn't the issue by trying another one with data capabilities.
Please see the N.B. in my signature below.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot and update when I've got a chance. I don't believe it's the USB cable since it's the cable that came with the phone, so I'll try the antivirus/firewall software side of things first.
Small edit:
I forgot to actually answer your question before. No, I hadn't already authorized this computer, as this is actually a pretty new computer (Only a few months old at this point). The USB debugging shows up at the top of my phone yes, but RSA won't do anything unless I authorize it, which gives me conflicting impressions that the phone seems to think it's verified the computer, but the computer and program don't see the verification.

Thank you! That worked! I was able to get it sorted out, AND following the root guide, I was able to get my phone rooted too! Thank you very much again!

@Cloud557 How did you unlock bootloader? I have cricket moto g power 2021 but I checked with Motorola and apparently this model cannot be unlocked? Thanks

[Q] Help restoring my rooted, S-OFF, moonshine DNA to stock

Hey!
This is my first time posting, but I have read tons of threads on here over the last year or so with my Droid DNA.
A while ago, I rooted my DNA, and unlocked the Bootloader, and used moonshine for S-OFF. I now want to undo all that I have done. Wiping data is no issue, I backed up all my info. I plan to get a new phone soon. Basically, I can't get adb drivers to work. So I deleted my drivers, and installed the ones mentioned in the thread linked below, and I can't find how to get these drivers to work.
My plan is to follow this thread, using step 3 (for moonshine). I have TWRP installed, and flashed the lock_bootlader.zip file provided there. I cannot get adb to work, however, for the next step. For example, "adb devices" returns no devices. And thus i cannot use adb commands. When I run "adb devices", it shows this. What do I do??
Thanks
Some more clarification:
I might also add that Device manager shows my phone as "HTC6435LVW", under "Portable Devices". It seems to recognize it as an MTP Device when I try to update the drivers, and won't let me update the drivers, because "The best driver software for your device is already installed".
In addition, HTC Sync Manager does not recognize my phone either. I should mention that I already chose "Reset Phone" from the Settings menu, and then also did a Factory Reset from TWRP.
I'm so confused by all this - Why can't I get ADB to recognize it?? I have been and will continue to be searching for solutions to this problem here on XDA and also on Google. And do I even need to do all this to give my phone back to Verizon?
Try getting the drivers from PDAnet. If you are using Windoze 8 or 8.1 , good luck.

I tried that, it gets stuck at the USB Driver Installation page, when it asks to connect your phone. I have USB debugging enabled, and I even installed PdaNet on my phone to try to use their "USB Mode". The DNA has not USB options for Mass Storage, etc like the pdanet driver help page ( pdanet . co / driver ) (It wont let me post a link because I'm a new user, sorry) tells me to look for.
Windows device manager does not recognize it as an Android phone, but instead as a portable device, could this be a problem?
Thanks for your reply
I am very interested in this as I am having a similar problem. This is the guide I attempted numerous times with no success http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293919.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try it when I get home and report back with an edit to this post!
EDIT: Nope, didn't work. Momentarily, I got it to install drivers. During that time, adb worked but not fastboot. So then I deleted the drivers to try to reinstall for fastboot, and now neither of them works.

[Q] GWatch in some weird debugging mode

Recently picked up a refurb G watch. However it appears to be in some debugging mode with a hidden menu of debug type tests. So I went into the about device section of the watch and something didn't seem right.
Software version: KKWT
Build number: platina-userdebug KKWT OPENMASTER eng.yjyj.kim.20140818.1125 39 test-keys
This doesn't seem like what I though it should say normally.
So I tried factory resetting the watch and after I got it set up again, I went into the settings and nothing was different.
Any ideas on how I can revert this back to the correct version of android wear or something?
Here is a link to the dump https://www.dropbox.com/s/vyp4ejxnipkjlnm/wearable-bugreport-2015-06-05-08-30-25.txt?dl=0
I figured it out. Once the device is connected to the dock and shows USB debug on the screen, you need to go to the hidden menu and find the port settings. There are four different options. The first and third are the same type of connection. You should be able to choose the first or third. Pay attention to the Device Manager, you should see ADB Interface, G Watch and CDC Serial. If you see that, then install the LG United Mobile Driver. After that you should be able to use the tool from XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-watch/development/script-lg-g-watch-tool-t2820863. Once you use the tool and get to the bootloader screen you will get another driver prompt in device manager for ADB Bootloader. Once the driver is installed you can completely use the XDA LG G Watch tool and Bob's your uncle!

I too got one of these watches. Unfortunately, all of them have a pre-production software version (KKWT). Because this was pre-production software it was never meant to be updated and cannot be updated
tha_bigga78, I tried what you said but something isn't happening right. To be clear, I tried this on two different computers: one that already had Android SDK on it and I have successfully used for ADB connections with my phone before, and one that had never been used for any adb/android software before.
The first time I got what you said, the three things in Device Manager: ADB, G Watch, and CDC. I installed the LG United Mobile Driver. I then downloaded rootjunky's tool from the link you provided and was able to see the device and to unlock the bootloader. Brilliant. But then after the watch rebooted rj's tool would never see the watch again. It sees my phone just fine. I made sure the watch has USB debuging enabled. After beating my head for an hour I did a fresh install on the 2nd, virgin, PC and got the same thing - it doesn't see my watch but if I plug in my phone and run rootjunky's tool I can see my phone show up in the list of devices just fine. Of course, on both PCs I did at rj's tool said and reinstalled the ADB driver through menu option 1. It didn't make a difference in either.
So now I am stuck with a watch that can't be updated and now won't communicate properly with my PC. I am left with a stripped down, pre-production phone and no way (that I know of) to fix it. Any ideas on what to do next would be great appreciated. Thanks!

I think I may have left a part out....
Once you get the bootloader unlocked and the watch rebooted, you have to get the watch to the bootloader again from a powered off state. Follow the instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftSCH7qihRI
Put it back on the cradle and see if it is showing ADB Bootloader in device manager. Install the drivers and continue from there.

Thanks! I will give this a try when I get home tonight.
This worked. Thanks a bunch!
I bought the same watch and same problems. Mananged to unlock the bootloader in windows. Just couldn't complete the proccess so I switched to linux and chose "restore" from "[UTILITY][RESTORE][UNLOCK][ROOT] LG G Watch Tool" menu and now its like a new watch. Maybe should have just started in linux but its fixed now anyway.

Cave get adb to work via any methods

When my watch connects to any PC via cradle, it's never detected. On Windows, I get a USB device malfunction. On Linux, it's not even detected. Via Bluetooth, it's unauthorised. So I can't even do basic file transfers to my watch. Anyone have a clue what I can do to get this working?

I don't mean to insult, but do you have usb debugging enabled under the developer options and bluetooth debugging enable in the watch + app? If so, you might try an FDR on your watch (unpair with phone). I used a MacBook Pro when I unlocked the bootloader on my g watch thinking I was going to try Asteroid OS. I had just re-rooted my 6P using the Mac so I knew ADB/Fastboot was working on the computer. It wouldn't work initially and I knew the unlocking process was going to reset the watch either way. After the FDR everything started working again and I was able to unlock the bootloader. Don't know why but that helped me. Good luck.

You're perfectly fine, no insult taken.
Debugging is enabled on the watch with Bluetooth as well, debugging is enabled on the phone and in the companion app. I get an authorization error and never get promoted for key on the watch, and when plugged in I get a USB descriptor error. I tried using another dock, another USB cable, and another port, and had no luck. I factory reset several times but I just redid it, so I'll give it another go and see if I can get it to work.

I had this issue for the longest time, try copying your adb_keys.pub from the ./android folder (I know it's C:/Users/yourusername/.android on Windows, and I believe it's ~./android on macOS/OSX, but I don't have a Mac to verify) on your computer to /data/misc/adb/adb_keys on the watch. You may need to either be rooted or have TWRP, I can't remember for sure because I was already rooted when adb had stopped working for me

Android Stuck in Charging only mode - No connection to computer

Hello Everyone
I am putting my problem in this general section with the hope to ask for help to more people compared to the Mate 8 section where not a lot of people go these days.
Since a while I am not able to connect my phone to a laptop. If I connect it to a laptop it just starts charging but nothing else. I have tried everything like:
Changing Cables (tried more than 5. I dont have the original anymore)
Changing Laptops
Changing the USB port of the phone itself
Updating Drivers
Installing Hisuite (current version 5.0.3.300)
Restore phone to factory settings
Complete formatting
Updating to the latest version (Current version Nxt-L29C185B582)
Changing the USB debugging/ Connection (MTP/PTP/etc)
And what not
The problem is, it doesnt get detected on the computer and cant connect to adb as well. All I want is to unlock bootloader and Install TWRP and Magisk. I have the unlock bootloader code but no way to unlock it since I cant connect.
Can anyone help me in fixing this stupid problem ? It is getting frustrating. If there is a hardware issue, what part needs to be replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the Settings of your phone---> About phone----> Build number tap this 7 to 8 times-----> Developers option is enabled----> back to settings ----> go to developers option ----> enable USB debugging.
When you connect to the phone to the laptop you will find an icon on top of the screen of your phone with a USB mark "like a trident", pull down the top menu and find the USB connection tab, (like changing the sim card if you intend to call through a specific card) e.g quoted, double tap the USB tab to obtain options ---> 3 options 1) MTP 2)PTP 3) USB charging only----> select the first option MTP (Media transfer protocol).
Now connect to the laptop you will find exclamation marks in the device manager of your laptop. Load the appropriate drivers on your computer and viola! this will establish connection with the device you are having. if you find difficulty in installing USB drivers, search the thread "Attempt to load USB drivers for Micromax E484 on win XP is a fiasco" in this forum. Nope. Doesnt happen
When i connect with the laptop, my laptop doesnt even make that sound for the connection.
What is the model and OS version of the device and the model and OS version of the computer? According to your symptoms your phone appears to be in option 3) USB charging only. The phone will not be detected by your laptop or the like(Computer) in this mode. Merely remains in a charging state. Are you certain the option 1) is picked MTP? If the phone is not detected there appears to be some hardware failure, try another USB port to connect to the laptop. if all else fail a service technician will pinpoint the fault. It may perhaps be a data transmission failure of the devices port to the interior of the phone. This is merely an assumption.
best remedy would be a service technician.
Hope this helps

I quite doubt the cable will be the culprit as your device charges the battery while in an established connection with the laptop. As you state the phone USB port was replaced, it could be a some glitch before the USB port in the device where there is an interruption in the data transmission signal that cannot be detected by your laptop.
Could you boot your device, computer and connect the two and take a snapshot of your device (whilst connected to the laptop) and paste the same in the forum?
Perhaps visual cue could be better at dealing such mishaps.

Your USB trident icon is not indicated on the device, If you were to receive power from the laptop the trident would be displayed on top of the screen, even for charging the battery. The power source for your device appears to from other than the laptop.
I have pasted my device after connecting to the computer and the second icon from the top left is the USB Trident icon indicating connection with my laptop. Have taken the snapshot of the menu that I was describing .
I strongly feel you have a hardware failure rather than a simple fix and would require the help of a technician (ordinary if professional is unavailable). Am skeptic you could mend that on your own unless you are proficient in electronics. This mishap is not due to flashing wrongly too, unless you have changed the stock ROM with some custom ROM which has some bug that affect the USB alone.
Take the assistance of a technician whether professional or less is my counsel
Thank you

I did flash a different rom .. but then back to stock recently.
I can do basic electronics but the if the problem lies in Mobo .. then nothing can be done .. as I don't have the spares available in India. But I would hate to lose this phone as it was a perfect fit for my needs

Then the question of wrong flash or ROM issue does not arise

If you do not have spares is best left alone rather than tampering with it and rendering the device useless if any untoward incidents tends to occur.
But I would hate to lose this phone as it was a perfect fit for my needs
Send to the vendor directly if you have warranty for the device stating its complaints or request your relative or friends who live in the area where you bought your phone to hand it to the vendor or service technician and bear its expenses

Is there a way to unlock bootloader somehow without connecting to usb ? That would also solve the purpose.. I want to root it for some of the things to work and with the latest upgrade to latest version I lost the unlocked bootloader and root.. if somehow I can unlock and root .. I should be fine without the usb connection to computer.. but I have ran out of ways
Does Kingroot work for you?
I mean did u try it or u just want magisk?
If u didn't, kingroot may be able to root ur device and unlock ur bootloader, then u can flash TWRP using rasher.. & make a backup BTW...
After that, try using the adb sideload in TWRP to test ur connection with ur computer.
TWRP for ur device : (q.gs/DxuAH)
There is a way to unlock bootloader without USB via developers option.
Go to settings-----> About phone-----> Build number ( Tap this option around 7 or 8 times) till developers option is enabled------> go back to settings-----> developers option-----> OEM unlock option (Enable this option) to unlock the bootloader.

There is no FRP unlock, to circumvent FRP you need to factory reset or flash your firmware. The above quotation was to unlock the boot loader as you cannot access through your computer. Your sole option to unlock boot loader was through the above directions.
Moreover, King root application never ask for boot loader to be unlocked. Although a little unstable this is the initial program to root any device. Once you have the TWRP setup then you could switch to Super Su etc. according to your preference.
Could you paste your developers option snapshot here...

My phone was Micromax and I am not aware of your phone's firmware, try and google or search the Xda developers forum under your phones model number for the original firmware.

Your phone has not installed TWRP duly, therefore it boots straight to the system. Search again in this XDA forum, with your pnone name and model number to obtain instructions

How to Shut Off: Usb connection "allow this computer to access your phone data?" CANCEL/ALLOW

Good Morning Ladies and Gents;
I am working with an LG G4 H811 (T-Mobile) on 20v (MM 6.0), which I would like to root. I have unlocked the bootloader, which is confirmed every time I start the phone. I then tried to root using LGUP, but the phone wasn't recognized, so I did an error recovery reinstall in LG Bridge, thinking a fresh software install would re-align things.
Now, whenever I connect the phone to the computer, I get a pop-up window on the phone saying "USB Connection - Allow this computer to access your phone data?" CANCEL/ALLOW and the phone does not show up on the PC screen or in Device Drivers until I tap "ALLOW". Therefore, it is not recognized by any software without tapping ALLOW.
More than an inconvenience, this effectively prevents me from any mods on the phone, because I need to shut off the phone and disconnect from the USB port, then reconnect with Volume UP pressed to get to download, and in download mode I have no access to ALLOW the USB connection, so neither ADB nor FastBoot recognize any devices, and the phone is not included in Device Manager.
Of course, the bootloader is unlocked, Developer Options enabled, OEM Unlock on, USB Debugging on. I am using an original LG USB cable. I have tried 4 different computers and three different sets of drivers. I've tried older drivers on older and newer computers, and vice-versa, for every combination available. Each time, I plug in the phone after a fresh computer install and let it install it's own drivers. Two of the computers are Windows 7, two are Windows 10. I've tried connecting in MTP mode and PTP mode, with no difference. I've removed the SD card in case it was affecting things, and done a factory reset on the phone. Auto Play options have been set on the PC to "Do Nothing". I've searched the internet and this forum without results.
Basically, I've spent two days on this before asking for help. Has anyone else had this experience and solved it with something other than drivers? I think I've just about run out of ideas! Thanks.
I don't root however it's probably Developer options>usb default settings>usb tethering
Try connecting directly from Disk Management on the PC. Use the scan for new drives option if it's not visible.
Thanks buddy, appreciate you trying to help out.
Tethering is a way to allow a device connected to your phone to use the phone's data connections. In the tethering instructions:
"You may not be able to access the data files stored in the phone's memory, such as pictures, music etc, or transfer such files between your phone and your PC when USB tethering is on"
However, its worth a try - so I set up tethering, unplugged the phone and plugged it in again - the same Cancel/Allow screen came up, and no device in DM until I tapped Allow.
I then opened Disk Management and plugged in the phone. I still get the Cancel/Allow screen, and rescanning devices didn't show anything new, because the phone is not in the Device Manager until I tap Allow.
The key here is finding out why the phone or computer do not store the "Allow" command. Normally, the phone will show this screen the first time you plug it into a computer, and when you tap Allow, it will store that someplace such that the phone and computer are recognized as safe devices. You should never have to see the permission screen again. My challenge is that I don't know where that permission is stored - is it on the phone, the computer, attached to the driver? Don't know. And I don't know why it's not being saved. If I had those answers, I could probably edit the registry (or whatever) to make this a permanent attachment.
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Maybe debug mode?
Try turning off Developer options.
Obviously there is a way, sorry but I never had to use that function.
Try some Google searches which is how I usually find answers and/or by just playing with it
Well, I wouldn't be able to communicate via ADB with Developer Options off. And I spent two days searching the internet before coming here, and all I found was people updating their drivers, which is why I tried so many combinations of Windows versions and drivers versions.
I'm actually kind of surprised that this seems to be such a unique problem, I was hoping someone would notice the post who had actually had a similar problem and fixed it. But I do appreciate you trying to help!
Sorry I can't help, but I never choose to root.
It's time sucking black holes like this that I deliberately want to avoid.
At least you didn't brick it...
ha ha... you got that exactly right! Every time I do this I end up spending DAYS trying to get up to date on everything that has changed since my last phone!
Well, I appreciate you taking time to try to help.
