Is it possible... In any way... to have two buttons/windows that overlap on top of each other, both respond to a singular mouse/touch event? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Android x86 (therefore, rooted by default) on my laptop, with a Desktop Mode launcher installed, this allowing me to running multiple app instances on-screen at the same time in the form of little windows.
I managed to install the same game three times and have them each open as if we're three individual apps.
Now, I wish to fully automate my tap farming by perfectly aligning these three app windows on top of one another, and then commanding a macro to continuously click on the given XY screen position.
With my initial question above, my goal is to have the three identical games farm at the exact same time, with a certain button within the games each being pressed at the same time regardless of which window is at the front or back the screen.
I hope this question makes sense. I want to know if this is all possible with the way Android is designed, and if there exists any software that does exactly this. If possible, but no available app, I am ready for negotiations from a dev.

Length of long press and space after full stops

Been playing about with the Modaco 2.2 ROM and just wondered if anyone knows a way to change the following:
The message editor now automatically puts a space after a full stop. Can this be disabled?
Also, the length of time needed to long press a shortcut on the home screen seems to have increased. Can this be changed back to the default setting?
Thanks
Yeah, these are new 'quirks' native to the new ROM revision, but i'm almost sure these kind of tweaks are not gonna happen until the Hero kernels get officially released from HTC to allow a lower level of system customisation.
I'm afraid we just gotta live with it until the kernel code is released and some of the guys on this forum get cooking some optimized ROMs for us all.
Not long now hopefully...
I can live with the longer long press, but the full stop thing drives me mad. If you leave it to add its own space, it doesn't realise you've started a new sentence and therefore doesn't capitalise the letter of, or correct the next word. If you do press space it's fine, but then you get two spaces!
Well i've found that if you press space twice you get a full stop and proper capitalisation, like the iphone.
Still, I don't know why they had to alter the behaviour of the full stop button, I prefer to press it then press space. The two methods could have run alongside eachother.

[Q] Switching between 4 apps in the car and other environments

What is the fastest and easiest way way to switch between four apps in the car. For example Google Nav, Poweramp, Trapster, and a speedometer app. A wave of the hand would be nice. I have looked at several and used a few. Smart Task Switcher, a reviewer said “Was warned about this app due to access to contacts permissions which dev says is used in China for advertising”. AppSwipe only does two ( the last opened). The “car apps” say nothing about task switching or is it shown in the Youtube videos. It would be nicer if an app would isolate and load these four programs from one key push then allow fast switching. A snap of the fingers would be another way to switch between these four apps. Also, a slideshow type thing of these four apps with the option to stay on the current one showing might be an idea. Or, one app that puts to the front the needed app, like the media player about the first and last 5 seconds of a song, trapster like app that would popup during notifications, navigation about 10 seconds before and after turns, and the speedometer the rest of the time. I'm just thinking out loud. Holding down the home key is not a good fit. Bottom line is I need a better task switcher (not killer) for the auto. An app that would allow me to map a steering wheel button in my 2011 Ford Fusion SEL for task switching would be golden! A friend's suggestion was to get four phones, so that one is already out there.
I tried Car Dock Home v3. It works by using a launcher that uses the back key to return to it's home screen, then another task can be selected via a shortcut. Unfortunately it cancels Google Navigation when the back key is hit to go to CDHv3 home screen. This would have been a better solution as it takes two key presses. It would be the best solution to perform one action to cycle through the desired programs. I installed Smart Task Switcher and that was good in theory but I could not find how to configure correctly and the floating button is far too small and often requires several taps, and that is sitting at the desk. There is a paid version where some of this is supposedly settable but from my experience with this app I don't think this is a solution.
The car was the first place that came to mind. But the need to quickly and efficiently switch task is useful in several environments.
I have hit a dead end and any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hey man,Im surprised you expect a phone to act as a tomtom,mp3 player and christ knows what else simultaneously.

Click to collapse
The S2 runs everything just fine, there is just not an efficient way to switch between them.

[Q] Android writing tools

Hi, how is it for all the years android has now been around. In what must be millions of iterations and formats.
Regardless whether it be on a small device or large touch screen.
One constant has been universal.
Whenever we try to type on the screen, whether its a dedicated app or a text box in facebook, the designers and developers have seen fit to grace us with the most painfully idiotic text select tools and the most ridiculously small box to type in that could ever possibly be imagined.
What you think is half a screen of real estate to compose your master piece, once clicked, a text box magically pops up a tiny java esq stamp sized patch, and an infuriating scrolling box that lets you read three whole words at a time.
Does anyone know a reason why this is? or what can be done about it?
I would surly love to know. And is it due to android interpreting the requirements of the app/webpage.
Or the other way around.
Thankfully xda is one of the very few exception websites
And sorry if this isnt the correct section to ask.

Changing mouse clicks

There is any way to change the mouse clicks behavior globally?
I saw that they did a launcher and a file manager that supports right clicks like in Windows, but I think that is a waste of time... All apps from android don't use that "right click menu" and I don't think that will happen in the future. Instead I will like to set the "right click" from mouse to "long press menu" action in android, that way will work like a "right click" in all android apps. For example if I press right click on a browser link -> will activate the long click action from android wich opens the right click menu on Windows. This applies to all current apps from android, in music players a right click on a song will activate the long press action menu from android... Same with all file managers and all other apps.
It's frustrating to select text only with long clicks ... And what is the purpose of having 3 buttons on mouse which all does simple clicks most of the time?
It is this possible or I'm dreaming?
As far as I know it's not yet possible, because left and rightclick mappings are hardcoded as "tap". Some months ago I've tried to override these mappings, but it's impossible to remap these 2 keys using official, standard method - keylayout and keycharactermap files editing.
Here is my topic regarding this issue, it should say everything needed:

Just after I installed Remix OS watched the introduction video "Remix OS : The Future of Android PC" and I heard this sentence: "At Jide we believe that future of computing is Android" and immediately felt the same thing... but once I started to use android on my pc I realized how far they are...
Seriously, I use my mouse in Remix OS exactly how a fingerless man use the new Samsung Galaxy.(no offense to anyone) But I simply don't know what to expect, sometimes when I press right click I get right click menu, sometimes without selecting nothing a copy option apear, sometimes I get a text selected and a dictionary apear to change the words and sometimes it acts like simple click. Most of the times I have a mouse with 3 buttons:first button click, second button click, third button click... Yeah that's what I call future of computing
If re-mapping the mouse buttons can't be done, than the logical approach will be to make a new hardware, a new mouse which fits for the purpose. Anyway re-writing all the android apps to fit the actual mouse behavior isn't the best solution.
I hope some Remix OS dev read this topic and if is kind enough, will share with us his vision about the Future of Android Computing.
@Domnea remember one thing here: Remix bases off Android-x86, which bases off AOSP. If a feature X is hardcoded in AOSP, then it will be hardcoded in all spinoffs unless they put the (mostly hard) effort of improving it.
This is the case with mouse. Android doesn't officially support rightclick for menus and because it's not yet made for PC UI, it's system apps and 3rd party are not made with desktop use in mind.
It will take a long time before a true android pc experience will be a thing.
Also remember that Remix OS is still beta.
To add more: try Phoenix OS, as far as I remember, they've modified mouse keymaps globally and generally, Phoenix has better UI.
Lastly: I think I know how to keymap the mouse now. I'll test and get back with results. I'll try to do that now or tommorow.
UPDATE:
i've tried again, but failed
Remapping is definitely possible, but I'm almost certain it would require modifying more "low-level" code files and then recompiling the whole Android image just to have a different mouse mapping. Google just needs to remove the hardcoding and add an option to map any device however you want - just like it is with keyboards.
I hope to find some more time soon to really solve this problem. Even if it could be solved with 3rd party apps, I wouldn't like that - it should be a basic built-in feature (keymapping).

I'm not a software developer, I'm just a software enthusiastic. When I found out about remix os (thanks to Google) in less than one hour was installed in my notebook. For me this is a hobby.
Yes, I know that android for pc is in early development, I'm just wondering in which direction will go...
I will keep RemixOS next to Windows and Ubuntu, tomorrow it's time for a new partition for PhoenixOS to give it a try. :fingers-crossed:

Mod to set different functions to swipe left and right on home screen

Hello fellow Android users.
I've always been obsessed with customizing the functionality of my devices to make it really practical to use.
I've been playing with the settings of the Xiaomi Redmi 9 for a week now and everything is set to perfection except one thing which is not available in the default settings but would be incredibly convenient, not only for me but for many people too.
I set all the apps I use in one single home screen (not multiple pages). The ones that don't fit there are all in one folder and that uses up only one button slot.
Since I don't have multiple pages for the apps, the swipe left and swipe right functions are available for other useful things, I'd like to set that up to be shortcuts to apps that I use a lot, like whatsapp and gmail. This would also free 2 slots in my home screen.
I suspect there's a way to do it, just don't know how and have tried several google searches like "how to assign left and right swipe functions on android home screen" or "how to customize left and right swipe on android home screen" and many other similar combinations of words. Found nothing.
Does anyone know if there's an app or a mod that allows you that level of customization? I'm a video editor and I'm not very educated in programing android apps or anything similar.
Hope someone can give me a hint. Thanks a lot in advance. Greetings from Barcelona, where many of us are locked down and unemployed :cyclops:
