Question Zenfone 9 Viper4Android No Driver Found - Asus Zenfone 9

Hello,
I've trying to install Viper4Android on the Zenfone for the past 2 days, but with no success I keep getting the Driver Not Found even after adjusting the post-fs-data.sh files with the proper locations. Also tried multiple fixes from other threads . My question is has anybody managed to get the Module to run?
Update: It seems the application is processing my headphones when it's connected, but still cannot get it to install the drivers

No. I tried several ways and always same issue..... other audio mods not working too

Update on this Thread since the Zenfone 9 probably has 64 bit audio drivers, viper4android uses 32bit and cannot be used until it is updated for 64bit, which the devs of V4A are working on, hopefully soon enough our ears will be able to enjoy better sound.

@Thecurse21 message me on telegram, I have a 64 bit test version you could try https://t.me/iscle

I also send you a message on telegram yesterday. i think its best if you could share it publicly here so more people can test it and provide feedback.

I would share it, but I've been told it contains code that they don't want to be made public, so after that code is removed probably they will maybe do a beta test or something, until then probably better to ask in the telegram chat or DM for the files. So far the working things for me were the Clarity and Bass, but the dynamic system doesn't work properly for me at least.

Oh i think it's better to wait then. I never really understood telegram, so could you provide a link where i can keep track of the progress? Is 64bit an official effort from those who initially developed v4a, or from the community?
I really can't understand how manufacturers can't even come close to the quality of v4a on their integrated DSPs. The one in the Zenfone is pretty good, but still far from what you can do on v4a.

yes i stumbled upon this a while back, but there hasn't been an update for s year so i thought it's not active anymore. I will keep checking it thanks!

Update: The developers have released an 64bit version of V4A I've installed and it works. Some of the features are not yet available due to the release being in an Alpha, but we finally have a working 64bit version working.
Here is the link for the build: https://github.com/AndroidAudioMods/ViPER4AndroidApp/releases/tag/v0.1.0

Does Not Work for me with VLC. Do i need to install audio compability patch? Installation fails with hint audio modification lib is missing. Where can i find latest acp binary? On GitHub i can only find source.

Its working with VLC (and everything else) here on latest Android 13. To make it start processing, you need to close all audio apps from the notification bar and enable legacy mode inside the option in the app. I didn't install the compatibility patch.
Keep in mind its not like the old version, the application won't even ask for root access or install the driver and restart like it used to. If you close everything that plays music and enable legacy mode a few times it will work.

I had to turn off LDAC in the soundcore app on my phone so I'm guessing it does not support LDAC.

This firmware:
- Does not include root management (I suggest flashing SuperSU from recovery)
- Installs TWRP as device recovery
- 5.0.x Tested using PA Pico GApps
- 5.1 Tested using BaNkS Gapps via euroskank
or these other minimal GApps (untested)
Known issues:
- No sound during calls until toggle speaker phone
- Time zone bug
Installation notes:
- Do not use Mr.Cook's rom-wipe script; [ here's why ]
- I do NOT recommend dirty-flashing over other i777 firmwares

So what are the bugs in this rom. Is it same as cyandel?
On this firmware, WIFI works, and mobile data works.
I have not been running this firmware long, so I don't know all of the bugs yet. I am still testing the firmware myself.
I will keep the OP updated as I learn more.

Can you shoot videos??
Is sdcard detected?
It looks like there's no multi-user support. Or maybe I'm blind and I just can't find it. The other problem I found is that ES File Explorer doesn't work; it crashes and causes the phone to restart. Updating from the Play store doesn't fix it.
Otherwise, it seems to run alright. Wifi is fine, but I don't have a SIM for it.

Sdcard is fully functional. When shooting video, the stock camera freezes.

I intentionally disabled multiuser support. If that's something that you use, I can enable it.
The stock file browser, and solid Explorer both work well on this firmware. I therefore suspect that ES crashes are an app compatibility issue.
SIM card works, I'm daily driving it right now.
I appreciate the feedback.

Can you give specifics? Just curious as to what you like best about it.
When trying to flash Gapps from here, I keep getting "Error Code: 70". I tried it with both Stock and Micro versions and it sayd "Error executing updater binary in zip". Does this mean it's just a bad zip? Or is there another issue I'm missing?

I like the refreshing nature of the interface. I'm eager to see what the big three add as customization.
This device doesn't handle the animations very well yet though. Maybe device tree refinements will improve it, maybe succeeding versions of Android, or both. Either way, only time will tell.

Has the same bootloader and radio as all the other builds
this is awesome!
i have 2 questions. is it possible to add double tap to wake and long press back to turn screen off to the stock rom. these 2 features are so convenient to use.
thanks
I am on the E bootloader and 95r firmware. If i were to update it would this cause a brick? I am no longer on verizon and E was the best firmware/radio to use (98r). I wanna make sure my system is running up to par with att or is the bootloader the same for all the updates?
@scrosler
Its taking forever to install any System App updates like GMail or Keep for example. All other apps like Whatsapp or Facebook, etc install quickly from the Play Store, been sitting for 30 minutes now trying to get a few apps updated. Playstore gets stuck on installing and after a few minutes it jumps to the next download, which happens quite quickly, but then once again hangs around trying to get the app updated.

That's not how WiFi calling works.
You will see a notifications and its not enabled by default because you need to set an E911 address. Plus, you'll see a notification at the top if it actually worked in this build, which it could possibly but it seems like its not finished yet. This build has Tycho.apk which is also called ProjectFi and requires calling/texting/voicemail/contacts permissions and such. So that's probably at least an early WiFi calling build.

Can you release the "leaked" version? That one is more stable and even has google play store preinstalled. It is even more stable than this official release when it comes to running games and stuff.
Also, would you kindly upload it to somewhere that is not mega. I hate the god damn mother hugging, son of a biscuit website. No support for accelerator support, no nothing. And when I use the browser download mode, it always fails at 580mb or something.

Thanks. The leaked version is very easy to find. Its quite popular after people found out that the official builds had no google play and were also very unstable. Funny, how an older alpha is better than newer alpha.
Also, can you make screen recording work on it? I just cant make it work no matter how hard I try.

To start off, credit goes to @GioBozza, @CappyT, @pioccd, @TotemFallico, @SimoIanni. They made this mod. All I did was port it to the V20.
ORIGINAL THREAD (go drop a "Thanks"): https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/development/wakeblock-blocking-drain-late-t3526313
Next, some caveats:
Neither I nor the users mentioned above take any responsibility for anything that goes wrong with you installing this.
I have personally tested this on the H918 on the 10k firmware. I see no reason for it not to work on other variants, BUT MAKE BACKUPS!!!
This mod is unofficial, and will remain so, meaning I may not be able to update it for every release, whether that be a new Android version for the V20, or a new mod version.
This is for STOCK ONLY.
This mod requires ROOT.
Again, MAKE BACKUPS!!!!!!!!!
Instructions (READ THROUGH THEM FIRST):
Backup `/system/framework/services.jar` and `/system/framework/oat/arm64/services.odex` (The latter is only relevant for ODEXed ROMs).
Download and install the app from the linked thread.
Download the `services.jar` file attached or linked in this post.
Copy it to your device somewhere safe (such as `/sdcard/`).
Use either the command line or a root file explorer to copy the downloaded JAR to `/system/framework/`, overwriting the current one. (YOU MADE A BACKUP, RIGHT?)
Make sure its permissions are set to 0644 (rw-r--r--).
Use either the command line or a root file explorer to delete the `services.odex` file that you made a backup of I'm sure C_C.
Reboot.
(If you have TWRP 3.1.1-1, you'll have to keep the backups on your device somewhere, since it doesn't support MTP right now!)
If all went well, your phone will boot successfully and you'll have some pretty fine control over your wakelocks. If not, restore your backups using the TWRP file manager and try again.
If you have any questions about the installation process, ask here. Otherwise, ask on the linked thread.
Nice job!
Good job everyone!

Excellent work! Been hoping this would get unoffiical support.
Edit: Damn, doesn't seem to boot on NotSoStock for the H918. I wonder if Tilde changed something in services.jar
@Zacharee1 nice find.
What are you using to compare before and after results of the mod?
Using the link you posted and github I've added the the mod to my rom all seems well but not sure which app will measure this best?
Also is there an app or something you are using to control which wakelock you want to block?
I tried the playstore version, but says device not supported...
Either way it doesn't seem to have any negative effects so far so I guess I'll just wait for a few days to see if there are any noticeable improvements...
Thanks for your work and contributions to this community!
Hopefully you'll still be using this device by time I finally go public with oZoP! Hopefully soon, but can't really say how much longer. Still many, many hours

I'm using Wakelock Detector Free to see which wakelocks are still happening. Some of them can't be blocked without causing systwm_server to continually crash, so you have to be careful.
The core kid is unsupported on this phone, not the app. If you swipe to the wakelocks tab, you should see a bunch.
I'm going to be on this phone for at least 2 years, so no worries there.

Hi, the playstore app says "Unsupported" because it checks for official build of WakeBlock, now I am on DU wich is Unofficially supported and my home screen looks like this

If yours looks like this too you can proceed blocking wakelocks. Please refeer to this thread to see which wakelocks to block(remember that the WakeBlock app asks for the block time in milliseconds so you need to add 3 zeros to the guide's times)

Strange. If you send me the working jar, it probably won't be hard to edit, since NSS is deodexed.

OP is correct... It was am error on myside and have since fixed and been blocking away those dang wakelocks!
Haven't really ever used anything that gve me control like this to pick and choose which ones! Very nice, now the problem is figuring out which ones to block! Haha
I have started lite with mainly just gms.core and will go from there.
Thank you for your work and thanks OP for bringing this here!
Awesome thank you!

Quick update:
Don't use WakeBlock to block WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed. Your phone will reboot when connected to WiFi, disconnected from power, and put to sleep. This wakelock has been causing me some headaches, so here's an experimental JAR that just disables the wakelock altogether. Test it using the same instructions as in the OP (it does boot; I tested that far), and report any weird behavior. I won't be able to fix anything that happens because of this, but it'll be good for others to have that information.
If this goes well, I think I'll try packaging this into an AROMA installer. I've always wanted to try making one of those.

Thank you! Sorry I was unable to reply yesterday. I'll give it a try
Edit: No luck unfortunately, still fails to boot. I've attached the services.jar from NSS 6.5
Just tried this on stock H910 and it couldn't get past the ATT logo. I replaced the .jar file and changed the permissions to 0644. Did I need to delete the .odex file in the .jar?
Will this work on G5?
Looks very interesting - out of curiosity has anyone had the dreaded "anx_wlock" kernel wakelock/battery drain on the V20 and managed to fix it with this?
Thanks. Works great on WETA 5.0.7 H918

Hello. I really liked your custom firmware. Everything works well. There is no bluetooth in the settings, you can install it or give firmware with working bluetooth. Loved but lacks bluetooth.:good:

Great custom Rom, I tried flash to HG680-P which using Armlogic S950x, 2GB/8GB, unfortunately I got error on 7% with error message "[0x32030201]Uboot/Get result/DiskInitial error
Any advice regarding case above?
Ps: After that error, I tried flash HG680-P stock rom, and success, i mean i think there is no related with software version of flashing tool or usb to usb cable.
Any feedback will really appreciated

Hi,
I am very new to this, but this looks great. I was wondering whether you could tell me if this would also work for a S905 chipset device? I have a Trongle S2 on 5.1.1 so would like to upgrade, but cannot find any official firmware for it. Thanks!

Hi, i dont think it has anything to do with the build prop, more lightly either its a drm issue or it could be a codec issue, Android tv seems to have issues with D+ alot of the time
You could maybe try the settings and turning off any audio processing, i dont have Disney plus so i cant really test that specifically
aldo read somwhere if you start downloading what you want to watch then play it that maight work as a workaround, Good luck

Hi ,Thanks, i think it has to do with the device not having Widevine L1 certifacation, its the reason netflix wont work either, you could try the mobile version of the app as that (as far as i know) only needs Widevine L3 (wich this rom supports) the prime and netflix (TV Verions) wont work due to this, i dont have a prime or netflix account to test the mobile versoins, if it works let me know please
