The problem in my case is this not work for me for some reason. I tried others methods (backing up all partitions before, less userdata) but no luck.

Is it possible to root Redmi Note 2 using MI-Recovery and some "rootpackage.zip"? I don't need TWRP or other recovery. I just want to root my phone.
I know that you can do it with Redmi 2, but I can't find any information about Redmi Note 2.
Redmi 2 have a public sign key, Redmi Note 2 not.
You can root your phone in 3 ways:
- Flashing an official developer rom via Mi Recovery (for root go in Security > Permissions > Root Permissions)
- Flashing a root package (for example SuperSU) via TWRP
- Using an app for rooting, for example TowelRoot, but I don't know if it work

Kingroot doesn't work.
But maybe downgrading to some older developer build via edl mode would work.

No. Kingroot & other 1-click root apps can possibly soft-brick a Snapdragon device.
- Unlock your bootloader & Flash TWRP
- Boot into TWRP & Flash Universal Boot Img Patcher Zip
- Reboot to TWRP & Backup current ROM
- Flash SuperSU Zip & Reboot to System

I have V8.5.7.0.MHOMIED (MIUI8) on my Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon 2gb ram, i haven't unlocked my bootloader, and don't want to lose time by doing it officially.
Tried to flash ZXCTWRP a few times with miflash but it was stuck on copying some file... though the guides are very very old and probably not updated.
i am guessing i need twrp to flash nitrogen and thats all. thanks for all the help. :good:

Now Mi unlock tool is not giving any error while unlocking the phone. So it will take maximum 10 minutes to unlock your phone. Just request for unlock on the mi website. You will get confirmation in 5 minutes. After that try to unlock using MI unlock tool. It will success without any error. After that install any TWRP recovery(Red Wolf Recommended) and install the Rom.
