boot.img for a BE2028 - OnePlus Nord N10 5G Questions & Answers

"Just flash a GSI and be done with it bro" comments will be ignored.
The BE2028 is the T-mobile variant of the Nord N10 5G and before I do any thing on this phone, I want to be sure of a few things.
I want to be able to get back to EDL mode should something go wrong and I want to be able to use a good boot.img and if there are any decent boot.img file(s) for this phone.
I realize that this isn't a very popular phone and I plan on compiling a few custom roms for this phone which i'm in the process now. But is anyone else working on the BE2028 variant of this phone? When I fan thru this forum, mostly what I see is the other variants and not much is spent on the BE2028 so that's where I'd like to help and if anyone else would like to help would be great and if you want we can stay in contact on Discord or telegram or whatever.
If anyone has any experience with this phone, please let me know.
Also, is there a good way to make clean backups of the partition tables, partitions and data as well as ny hard linked code if something goes squirrely like IMEI lost or whatever. I believe once I get a good custom rom built for this phone it can be a very nice budget phone.
I'd also like to remove the tmobile branding from the rom as well which is why I want to get a good feel for this. I've built custom roms for my Xiaomi and Samsung Note 2 but I feel this is going to require a bunch more work than just building a ROM out.

I've written to OnePlus support in regards to debranding this phone and if there is an official way of putting a global OS on here instead of a TMobile only, since I own the phone, I want to use my phone.

[Q] how can I help with this project?

*edit* sorry, didn't notice general warning, please move to Q&A
I migrated from SGS i9000 to a huawei G700 phone featuring a mtk6589 chipset.
Sadly, the android version limits the possibilities of the phone really hard: it's oriented towards users who play nicely with their phone, not towards me!
so, to keep a long story short, I'd like CM to be ported to this device. this is not a top-of-the-line product, so I'll certainly have to do it myself.
I already got the complete OS image, kernel properties, installed applications, and so on (boot.img, uboot.img, ...), locally installed here.
the question is: where to go from here? In your guides, I can follow what the developers explain to do and why they are doing it, but I got no idea how to convert this OS image into a CM image ...
Also, as there are apparently developers waiting for mtk6859 roms, should I send them a message asking for their help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375957
the only issue here is that I can't contact them yet because of the noob limit.

What's with the treble hype?

Is there a reason why every custom ROM seems to go treble? There's no real proven benefit when having unofficial treble. As one of the LineageOS devs said on their subreddit:
You don't get treble. You have it or you don't. All those "ported treble" are plain fake and they don't have the same capabilities of the "real" treble (the one that you have on your device out of the box or from your manufacturer as a stock ROM update).
This because treble requires appropriate changes to the proprietary files (those stored on the vendor partition) that a device without "stock/real" treble won't have

There's only one partition instead of both. The one for seamless updates is missing (I think).
As for treble ROMs, they are pretty much a gimmick unless devs actually make use of them. But I have seen reddit comments about people trying out generic system images via treble TWRP: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/8ac2gc/project_treble_is_amazing_and_because_of_this_my/
You can try it for yourself: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
What this could mean is, in 2 years if dev support drops for the Note 4, you may still be able to get the most recent version of AOSP or some other ROM as a generic system image. No need to wait around for devs to create ROMs or compile one yourself.

worth buying if i want aosp

I'm someone who always buys the phone to flash an aosp rom like PE or LOS. what is the development potential in this phone? is it worth buying if I dont want features but jsut a clean aosp experience without bugs?
no absolutely not
Bad but there's better devices around. Especially the redmi k20
The flash tool for realme is still unreleased and you have to take your phone to service centre in case something goes wrong
Lengthy process to unlock bootloader
Kernel sources out of date
Encrypted ROMS that makes devs difficult to obtain files.
Overall, this is a namesake developer friendly device.

Question Successfully rooted Metro Pcs variant w/ Magisk and stock rom

Ive been rooting and tinkering with various different android phones for years now . Motorola has always been my favourite when it comes to rooting . Now my question is now what? I would love to finally pitch in on development starting with this device seeing as there is very little on this one as far as custom roms and what not. This device reminds me of the G7 Power with the A/B format. I was looking in on possibly bringing Ubuntu Touch to this device and as far as i can tell I just would need to make a halium kernal for it . Can someone maybe help me or tell me how incan possibly help on makimg that happen? Please bare with me . This is my very first time posting on this website . Im very savy when it comes to the android, ios and computers in general , Im running the stock rom and have done very little besides install some root apps. I would love to help out with any kind of development so please someone let me know . Ill be regularly checking my notifications and messages . Cheers!
I'm not a programmer, but I'd love to have LineageOS on my device. I haven't had the opportunity to play with Ubuntu Touch, but I assume that the F-droid store alone surpasses the app development for the Ubuntu Touch. Have fun!
Im suprised more people arent all over this device like when the G7 came out ....this device is awesome and the battery life alone is enough reason to want to buy it ...Guanma FTW!!

What i found appealing about Ubuntu Touch is i recently read that you can now run android apps on it and i totally agree Lineage would be awesome and an obvious first step to take with this device now that we know it can be rooted...also TWRP development is a must
So far I'm really happy with it. The only thing is with how big it is, people with smaller/weaker hands are going to have a tough time. Good to know about Ubuntu Touch supporting android apps!
I too just got a G Play (2021), after spending the past 8 yrs. with my beloved HTC Ones (m7,m9). Ironically, it was Motorola that I left for HTC. I've been somewhat impressed with this phone's performance in stock bloat (I mean stock TRIM). I came in here today not expecting to see much, if anything, on this phone; but I've found enough info to get me started.
TY XDA, for all your hard work.

I believe the OP use followed this guide.
[Guide] Root Motorola with Magisk (UnLocked Bootloader)(Non-TWRP method)
Root Motorola Devices with Magisk Note: This method has been working with most Moto Devices that the Bootloader can be UnLocked. If the Bootloader cannot be Unlocked this method will not work. Please only use this as a reference. If you require...

I have a new Moto G Stylus Metro. Anything for this yet?

Custom rom development?

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody ever worked on a custom rom for the LG V60 or why we don't have any rom yet if we already have root and custom recovery, yes I know we need more than that to make a rom possible.
If somebody could make it real, I'll be more than happy to donate.
PD: Sorry if I have bad written English, just wanna start some discussion about this topic
We have about zero developers who are ready to work on that. And one problem is, no one has built device tree for v60 yet and that alone is a big task but I know developers people in the v50 group who are ready to work on v60 once they buy one. So with time, I think developments will start for v60 since it's a great device.
