[Q] Android Devices Currently Not Supported By Cyanogenmod

Hello Guys,
Could anyone please provide some info about this case:
o What are my options if I have an Android device (smartphone) not supported by CyanogenMod?
o Is there anything than waiting until my model will be added to the supported list? I bought a very simple and reasonably priced "no-name" phone (Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM), and I learn now one disadvantage is that it is not supported.
o I also did not find anything about rooting, flashing or even booting it up into safe mode / recovery.
Any help and info is very much appreciated.

Hy there, you can try TWRP Manager. It's a similar program

Well, here it is straight forward, your device only gets official support if the Cyanogenmod teams deems the unofficial build for it stable and reliable to gain official support. If there isn't any unofficial builds then it's safe to say that it will never have official support. As for rooting the device there may be methods for it available, a universal root for example, flashing as in roms and other things, no clue, never heard of that device before and there might not be any support for it either. So with that being said, hope this helps you.

Hi Yoelpro,
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device - was very happy. It was not too easy, given that it is extremely minimal supported. I already tried TWRP with GooManager, but when I try to install an open recovery sript, surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device".
Any ideas if there is another way to find one and copy it on the phone? I have to confess being too scared even trying to flash a custom ROM without flashing a backup first. I managed to find out that the stock ROM is a Vanilla on my Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM.
Thank you.

Hey there Critical Detox
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device: Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM - was very happy to see that it is working.
Unfortunately, I could not even find an unofficial CM build, I'm quite sure that an official build does not exist. Interestingly, my device was once perfectly recognized as SP-2X.SLIM and once recognised as HTC (for drivers) during the rooting. I'm very curious IF or AS WHAT my device would be recognized if I started the one click install of CM. I might be a chicken, but a careful chicken as I don't want to do it before saving a backup of the stock ROM to my SD card first. When I try to install an open recovery sript (GooManager), surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device". I managed to find out that the stock ROM on my device is a Vanilla 4.2.2 but could I not find this ROM to download yet.
Any help is very welcome, as I am not quite an expert and my phone is a quasi no-name model.
Cheers,
schmayer

Android 10
I've looked into the lineageos gsi and it seems to work with very few issues.
I did have a bit of issue as the partitions disappeared and it now only sees barely enough room to install Android itself but otherwise it's quite good.

Anyone working on Ulefone Armor 6 LineageOS?

Hi,
I've been thinking buying Ulefone Armor 6 and I'd really wish I could have LineageOS on it.
Is there anyone working with it at the moment?
Some other custom rom could work too.
So far I've been able to find Nokia 5.1 Plus kernel sources which uses same MT6771 cpu and appears to have quite similar hw setup.
I've downloaded Armor 6 stock firmware and found ProjectConfig.mk
ROOT Armor 6
Does anyone know how to root this baby? Can't find anything anywhere.
In a hurry. Thanks!

I searched the forum and found only this topic.
Want to share this news about some backdoors and viruses, link:https://news.sophos.com/en-us/2018/10/02/the-price-of-a-cheap-mobile-phone-may-include-your-privacy/
is there a chance of someone checking the armor 6 and armor 6e for this things?
And I guess this is the only topic about getting custom ROM on these two devices. Correct?
I would be interested in Lineage OS as well for them.
Was looking into that and found out that Armor 6 is Tremble enabled, anyone tried that?

I can confirm there is few suspicious apk's in /system/app, /system/priv-app and /vendor/app.
MTKLogger, MTKLoggerProxy for example.
Thanks to @chankruze after I got root with pbrp and Magisk I was able to rename (disable) all suspicious apk's.

I tried LineageOS 16 GIS image with Magisk, bootloop. I have to look more into that later on.
I was able to boot LineageOS, but not able to flash Magisk.

If I can help in any way, let me know. Currently playing with the original ROM just a bit. And it seems there's lot of functionality missing from the pure android. They definitely modified Android 9. Build number is Armor_6E_RF3_EEA_V01.

It seems that Armor_6E_RF3_EEA_V01_user_20190509 rom doesn't have MTKLogger, MTKLoggerProxy or such.
I have not looked properly yet
Scatter file has some differences.
I might try flashing Armor6E rom on my regular Armor6 phone when I have time to play with it again.

Given it's a MediaTek chipset, might it not be simply that MTK* is related to that?
Ota update
Hi,
I just installed 06-05-2019 update without any problem, but no improvement so far.
Any news on installing armor 6E ROM on an armor 6?
I hoped they would add physical button triggered camera for underwater picture like armor 5.
Exists any Custom ROM for Armor 6?
did anyone install a GSI ROM by Treble?
I tried Resurrection Remix and ViperOS, but it gives infinite loop.
Also unable to install TWRP with Stock Rom, when I installed the stock system did not start.

Yes, MTKLogger was logging atleast GPS location to internal memory. I assumed it was bad and renamed .apk file to .apkz.

but no success till now...

Looking for a googlespy-free rom for privacy, any idea ?

Hi !
I'd like to buy the Xiaomi A3 to replace my galaxy s7 that has an POOOOR battery life. The A3 is very interesting because it is not-so-big smartphone with a huge battery.
I would like to get rid of all the google apps and other tings that spy me and slows my smartpone down. I know it is a new model and there is not so many developement actually, but is there any option/rom to install to remove that and that is completely open-souce ? MIUI ?
Do I have to wait for a moment ?
I usually install LineageOS which is awesome but I am open for any other options.
THANKS !!
Havoc, atom there are a few that have no gapps installed but they are android 10 ROMs and I don't think microg currently fully supports android 10. You might get it working properly though haven't tried myself yet

Hi thanks for the answer. SO most of the rom are truely open-source, right ?
Ok i will wait a moment and go for the A3, I think I can even go without microG. Most of the app works without anyway.

Best ROMS for my device Huawei p20 lite(ANE-LX1 - Kirin SoC)?

Hi all,
I have unlocked my device and is currently running LineageOS 16 from OpenKirin. There are a few things which does not work, like the camera app that comes with the OS as well as the notch, where icons goes beyond the notch. Someone suggested I try the OpenKirin Rom and that is how I got that specific ROM on my device.
I was wondering are there maybe other ROMS for this device? Like the one's mentioned in the article below?
https://www.getdroidtips.com/best-custom-rom-huawei-p20-lite/
It took me a long while to get everything running on this device, Magisk and EdXposed. So I just don't want to go and wipe my OS just to try 4 ROMS that does not work. Sure you have app backup for that but it would mean doing everything over almost on the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I am rather new to custom ROMS so please bear with me!

There is nothing like perfect Custom ROM. It is highly dependent upon the requirement of the user and his likes/dislikes. Every ROM has its importance and downsides. You can try flashing multiple ROMs to find the ROM which is suitable and best for you. There is no Custom ROM that is 100% bug free (it depends, among other things, on model, FW built number etc. etc.).
If you don’t prefer EMUI,* choose Havoc OS , AOSP Extended or LineageOS.
If you "hate" Google and Google's bloatware (like me ) only, you can simply rebrand your phone to chinese Nova 3e (among other things, better battery life, lower data consumption etc.)
Or, choose Custom ROM based on Stock with KangVip settings ( to get away from GAPPS) , stable enough to be used as your daily driver.
Availability of custom ROMs for Kirin devices is scarce.

Hi,
No i have not tried one of the recommended in that list i provided. It took me a very long time to get the phone unlocked! Then more bricks, soft and hard through the process :crying:
Magisk was not as hard to install but EdXposed was, and I also got my device stuck on a boot loop trying to get EdXposed to run. So yeah I took me a while to get it working.

AB or A-only depend on EMUI version : 9.1 = AB, 8.0 = A-only.

Don't bother trying any one of those ROMs listed in that post. I wasted a whole day trying to flash a ROM specified by that website. Look specifically for ROMs on XDA website.
I get more help here, and it has been tested already on our devices.
