Question Where/How to get the Cast tile for casting your screen? - OnePlus 10T 5G

I can't seem to get the screen casting option on the OnePlus 10t. I have tried using that quick settings application from the play store and added the tile, but it doesn't do anything when you then click on it. Anyone know if this is something that they removed from the Oneplus 10t and it just won't work?
I am currently on the 13 beta.
Edit:. I erased my system partition and the flashed the 15 latest beta to it. Then formatted data. This seemed to have fix it. So maybe it was something I did prior. Though a 'full' ota update wasn't fixing it.

Well I updated chrome to the last version, but it still shows the older ui, even forcing the flags, no changes
Are you experiencing a similar issue?
No issue for me. Nothing to do and the new UI is here.
Are you sure the update is really done ? For my OnePlus 5T, An error occured during install of the update that disappeared only after reboot.

well, i have:
installed the updates from playstore
installed the apk alone
removed and reinstalled the updates
rebooted
closed and restarted the app
wiped cache partition
forced the flags in chrome settings
no way to have the new ui

It's working with Chrome Canary
I have the same problem. I have the latest update but the old UI, only on my phone is the new UI.
same here. Chrome Beta 69 dont show the new ui. canary works... idk whats wrong ...
Chrome 69
Full release on my MPad 8.4 with the new UI is fine.
I don't have the new UI on my US 10.8 or my phone for that matter. A LG G5. And both have 69 installed.
No solution for this problem?
I don't get it... Chrome Canary work's ... Chrome Beta...nope...
Can't find a solution [emoji58]
Finally Chrome Beta 71 works perfect. Looks like on Dekstop with the new Material Design. Nice.
You probably have your VIEW set to SMALL under display settings, I noticed that on my M5 8.4 it didnt got the new UI unless I had the VIEW mode set to DEFAULT.
I've tried this but doesn't work on my M5 10 tab

I got pie on sprint

The update is for carrier devices, not U1 devices. Your have to ODIN to N950U firmware then apply the OTA.

My device is a carrier device on stock nougat. It is a Verizon Note 8.
Hey guys, I just got the OTA update on my Sprint Galaxy Note 8 as well, and so far I'm loving it! But I'm experiencing a Google Play error, "DF-DFERH-01, error retrieving information from server"
So I went ahead and cleared cache and data, uninstalled Google Play updates, and did the same thing to Google Play Services. I went as far as factory resetting my device, and I'm still recieving the same error. It wasn't like this before I installed the update 2 hours ago.
I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing the same thing?
Edit: Just like magic, Google Play seems to be working again. Finally to enjoy Android Pie at last!

^^ Also had / have same issue as well. Mine however is a carrier unlocked Galaxy Note 8 and using Sprint service (not rooted). I did clear cache, have not tried factory reset but thank you for informing me as I've been trying to determine the next course of action. Also, my menu / ui / settings / colors (font / backgrounds / forms) have partially inverted, so that all titles are almost close to #000 (solid black) with form boxes inverted to white, (making this close to impossible without some guess work what invisible text says) and it seems like there's an error with the themes (now back to complete stock and it does not change the colors at all from the inverted manner nor will it allow me to even switch to dark mode). However, I just got this installed maybe 15 minutes ago, so I will continue trying to figure this out and test to see if any other functions are not working properly. Have you found any other others yourself and or a way to fix the Google Play error?

Ah, that sounds odd. As far as I know, Samsung made changes to the way themes work on the Android Pie update, so I'd guess it might be possible that your themes were screwed up in the process. Is it also like that on the default theme? Everything seems to be working normal on my end, I'm still using the default theme
As for the Google Play error, I didn't really do anything else after I had cleared cache and data, and uninstalled app updates. I went off to continue setting up my Note 8, came back 25 minutes later, and Google Play worked normally as if nothing had happened.

So what I learned from a couple of quick experiments, to ANYONE downloading & installing Pie for the first time, I highly advise uninstalling all forms of themes, launchers, roms, etc. that are not stock as with the theme changes in Pie, that is what seems to mess it up and I am going to test to see what can be used with it after. The Google Play thing lasted me a few hours since it was earlier today.... but makes me wonder if they did a silent correction as I've heard others that didn't get that error after mine seemed to magically work again too.

I see. In your first post you asked about N950U1 devices, which is the unbranded factory unlocked model.
Yes this update will work on your device. But you can't apply it directly over your current build. You'll have to update to whatever the current Oreo build was first.

Settings app force closing

All,
I am running rooted stock 20s debloated on my H932 which is activated on Cricket. In the last couple days my Settings app keeps force closing and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. This started after I plugged in ear buds and attempted to activate Quad DAC. The phone froze and I had to restart it. Settings will now force close no matter what part of Settings I'm in. Typically I can go in change a setting, but within a few seconds (sometimes before I can make a change and sometimes after) Settings force closes.
Based on some posts I've read in various places I've done the following:
*cleared Settings data (not reset permissions)
*cleared dalvik & cache in TWRP
*deactivated & deleted non-OEM G8 dark theme and rebooted
*deleted apps installed around the time this started happening and rebooted
*wiped dalvik & cache and dirty reflashed stock 20s debloated.
None of this has solved the problem. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and found a solution or has a clue that about what might be causing it. I haven't touched any apps updated by Playstore, but am wondering if it's rolled out an update that might cause this.
Feedback welcomed.

UPDATE:
I've not been able to figure this out. Starting from scratch installing apps one by one and could find no direct correlation. It doesn't begin happening after a specific app, but must be related to some combination of apps at work. I noticed one time it happened right after adding a Google account which I quickly deleted. That helped for about 30 min and then it was back.
The only thing that seems to be consistent in letting me know the problem is about to start is that in settings when I click on Apps & Notifications, it tells me I have 0 apps installed. When I click on Apps it shows all my apps (about 90). As soon as I exit the list and sometimes before Settings starts force closing.
I departed stock for Havoc for a bit and then came back to stock and the problem came back. The good news is I've now moved on to COSP which seems super solid and smooth. I may come back to stock when stock Pie comes out for the H932, but that's only if COSP develops issues.
I added this update in case anyone else stumbles across this thread with a similar issue. I haven't found an answer.

I had a similar problem but it was when I was trying to use any option from within setting and it was caused by the google camera app, probably because I had 3 different versions on my phone lol!
I was using the LG camera app & one of the modded Gcams with night sight when I was on stock. If I go back to stock I'll have to check and see if that was the problem.
Thanks

Recent Apps menu not working sometimes

This happens anytime I boot the device and the problem can persist up to many hours until the menu just decides to work...
Basically whether I use gesture controls or nav buttons, the recent Apps menu does not work. Kind of a big problem for me because I'm a heavy multi-view user.
I mash the button, hold them down, reboot the device, unistalled Nova because it's the one app that brings up anything about recent...
I looked around the forum some, is no one really not also dealing with this problem?
Also how do I boot into recovery mode, and can I boot into fastboot? My OEM toggle isn't grayed out
I haven't had this issue, and I replaced LG's Home Launcher with Nova Prime on my first day.
I also replaced the stock Android 10 gestures with Fluid Navigation Gestures.
I suppose there could be something about how FNG triggers the Recents panel that makes it more reliable/consistent, but I kind of doubt it.
I basically have my phone set up as a super-charged replacement for my beloved but aging LG V30.
Even without root, everything is gravy so far.
You can access ADB commands and Fastboot for certain apps to get around not having root (it's why I can have FNG force-hide the Navigation Bar despite disabling Android 10's stock gestures), but I do not think there is a way to reboot to the Bootloader.
I did find some instructions about holding down the Volume Up + Power buttons to boot into Recovery, but it appears to be a generic copy-paste rooting instructions taken from other phones and adapted for the LG V60 without actually verifying that it works. The article even mentions that it's a generic article that works for "most phones" and implies that it may not be viable for our phone. So... /shrug
I factory reset, and I thought the problem was fixed, but after I booted/rebooted again, the problem persisted again.
Would it have anything to do with uninstalling apps?
Almost immediately after I factory reset I went straight to uninstalling most the pre-loaded Google apps I was able to remove and the t-mobile & LG apps like Whale instead. I also Uninstaller the game loft games too.
My knowledge of Android tells me that shouldn't be the case, especially since they werent considered system apps, but from a fresh install this shouldn't be an issue.
I should also point out that I have show touches and touch data enabled, and I can touch/see the button reacting to my inputs, it's just not responding with the function
That is an unusual issue. Sounds like you tried it all. You might call LG or its time for that phone to take a trip back to T-Mobile. Best of luck.

I used ADB to uninstall a toooooon of LG and AT&T bloat and a bunch of pre-installed games.
I was being somewhat aggressive with my uninstalls, and did not consult a guide about what was safe and what wasn't (mainly, because I couldn't find one for our phone).
I haven't had a single issue with the Recents panel not pulling up. That said, with Nova and FNG, I'm not using whatever stock solutions exist out-of-the-box for pulling up Recents.
You did mention Nova in your OP, but have you tried some third-party gesture or buttons solutions for pulling up your Recents? Do they fail too?
It's also my understanding that uninstalling bloat via ADB is not a permanent solution (I can still see the apps in my apps list in Settings, they just have a "not installed" next to them, or some such). I recall reading that a factory reset will restore all of them. Since your issue is persisting after a factory reset, I have to assume the problem is not related to anything you uninstalled.
Are you on the newest system firmware? I believe T-Mo and know for sure that AT&T have released updates bringing Android's April 2020 security patch to our devices. There MAY be some minor bug fixes included with the roll-out.
If you're still experiencing issues after the firmware update and factory resets, I'll have to echo minoch's advice and suggest that you consider getting an in-warranty exchange either via your carrier or LG directly, whichever is faster/easier. If going to your carrier, try to make sure that you're phone is currently experiencing the bug in order to be able to demonstrate it to the store rep to expedite the exchange.

They seemed to narrow it down to using pop-up instances of apps. Maybe hit up that thread for more details. But are you using pop-up windows in conjunction with Nova as well? There seems to be some kind of conflict there, though it's an issue I'm not experiencing, since I'm using Fluid Navigation Gestures for most of my gestures, not Nova's gestures (or the stock Android 10 gestures).

I have this problem and usually occurs when I decide to use multi window. After I'm done using multi-window recent apps don't work I just see my current wallpaper and nothing else. I get it to work again by switching from gestures to navigation buttons or vice versa.

While I am a heavy multi-window / PiP user and that may be the issue, the problem starts when I boot or reboot, before I even have the chance to use it.
I have tried switching between gesture and buttons before creating this thread but that didn't work.
It's a little less stressful though to know I'm not crazy and am not the only one dealing with this issue

I use Nova, but I'm not using gestures for navigation, I opted to use buttons instead, but the problem (when it happens) persists when I use either navigation method. Pulling up from the bottom and holding to bring up recent doesn't work.
Also on Nova you can create shortcut buttons to bring up recent that don't involve the navigation, but that still doesn't work. Recent as a function just doesn't appear to work... Until sometime later, it decides to want to.
Then after that there's no more problems.... Until I reboot or turnoff the device, then I gotta deal with the issue again.
This happens with and without the dual screen case

I wouldn't say I tried everything, just maybe everything I can think of on my own without root. I even googled the problem on other phones, they suggested activating Google assistant for whatever reason, which I tried and surprisingly it worked, but when the recent problem came back, the assistant thing didn't fix it again. I guess it was a placebo effect like blowing into old NES carts to get them to work

SOLUTION:
@Chocolina @Mejilan
*My Device - USA S21 Ultra Verzion oem, loaded latest Tmobile FW as of this writting via odin v3.14.1_3B_P.*
De-bloated 245 apps with 210 left, which i left alone.
Had the the same problem.
Decided to adb uninstall samsungs OneUI launcher (com.sec.android.app.launcher) as part of de-bloat process, i generally use Nova Prime Launcher as default.
Thought it might be gestures related or some overlays i removed.
Restored all packages back to default then one by one uninstalling this time rebooting after every one uninstall.
Though it was the default launcher at 1st, restored it, problem was i restored it but didn't reboot device.
It turned out uninstalling Samsungs default launcher called OneUi caused this issue, enabling/restoring it made the recent apps button function again.
Reinstall your default launcher. Fixed for me, execute the command then reboot device.
could we edit recents app code in android studio?

Roku app with Expert Picture Settings

So for the last year and a half or so, the Roku Android and iPhone apps just completely crash with "Operation Error" whenever you try to change Expert Picture Settings on them. Which makes HDR significantly worse on them, especially the 2017 models which need some serious calibration to look decent.
Roku keeps updating the TV software and the Android app, and the problem persists. They even have the gall to just close any topics made about this issue on their forums as "Resolved" any time they're made.
I'm guessing this is being done deliberately. Would anybody be capable of creating a custom version of the Android app that will let you use Expert Picture Settings?
Unfortunately, none of the older apps work. Any of them that don't immediately crash when opening Expert Picture Settings don't actually work with the newest TV OS updates.
No idea if this is the right place to post something like this. But since Roku is clearly not going to fix the problem...
EDIT: According to this Reddit thread
https://www.reddit.com/r/Roku/comments/jwg3rj
the problem appears to be the Android version. Android 11 devices will auto-crash. Older devices running Android 9 work fine.
I do not have a working Android 10 device so I can't test that out.
EDIT #2: Managed to raise my Pixel 1 XL from the dead. Android 10.... auto-crash.
Unlocked the Bootloader and flashed Android 9 to it. It works with even the newest Roku app! unbelievable that this would be the problem. Is it possible to fix this for newer Android versions, maybe?
Does anyone know if the official Roku Remote app works fine with an Official LineageOS ROM without Gapps, especially private listening
Thanks

I literally just calibrated one of the Roku TVs in my basement. I also checked and there are a few versions after this one that let you access advanced picture settings and these versions also don't prompt you to update. I skipped ahead to 6.0.15 and that does prompt for an update so definitely not that version or beyond.
Anyways, I found the advanced picture settings page may have a never ending loading icon when you click on it with Android 12 (at least on my OnePlus 9 Pro). I dug out my old Nexus 7 and it worked perfectly. Also, I had used this on Android/OxygenOS 11 many months ago on my OP9Pro and it worked with no problems, other than the app sometimes wanting to freeze, but you can still get your calibrations in.

ah yeah so I have Pixels. I didn't have an unlocked bootloader on my main phone, but I happened to have my old Pixel 1 XL laying around. the battery LITERALLY died in under 5 minutes when fully charged, so it was worthless, but I kept it plugged in and figured I might as well try it out with this since some people with older devices said older versions of the app still worked for them.
On a whim, I tried installing older Android versions, and eventually it worked! The older Roku apps only worked if I had Android 9 on it. Android 8 didn't work with versions of the app that still worked with my model of TV, and Android 10 had the same "Operation Error" issue.
I'll give the APK you linked to a shot, but I have my doubts it'll work on my Pixel 4a 5G with Android 12, and I'm definitely not gonna downgrade the OS on my main phone just to get this one app working for advanced picture settings lol

Why don't you just use the old Pixel 1 and keep it plugged in while tuning the TV?
And the version I linked is confirmed by me to work on Android 11 (well, at least on OxygenOS). I have no clue if it'll work on your Pixel 4a 5g, but it had an indefinite loading animation on the advanced picture page on OOS 12.

No, yeah, I can do that. I'm just worried the phone will literally stop functioning at some point. I'm not exaggerating when I say the battery lasts less than 5 minutes on a full 100% charge. And any repair shop charges like $200 to replace the battery.
So I'm hopeful that I can just.... use my main phone, y'know?

Yeah. And I can understand the concern. If it does get unplugged in the middle of calibration, I will say that everything you entered into the TV so far is already in there...you don't have to save anything.
Lmk if it works on the pixel with Android 12. That would be even better!
