Disable Fingerprint Sensor Redmi Note 11 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Fingerprint sensor instantly wakes up phone, making me unable to manually lock the phone which is what I've always wanted, I've been researching with almost no progress, besides knowing that this is not an issue, it is intended to be this way. However I have root access and I refuse to belive that I can't just disable the sensor completely, it is worth noting that this problem started when I began using DerpFest 13 Community Tango 20221114 1210 (Flashed from Stock), the Stock from Miui and Another Vanilla Android 13 didn't have this problem, I think spending 8 hours trying to fix the problem is enough time to get some help from you guys:
- Genteman solutions I have already tried:
[FIX] Disable Fingerprint Sensor & Wake Up Completely
I see so many questions in threads. Even if you don't set a fingerprint password, sensor still works and screen opens up. This can be annoying. So if you're not using fingerprint at all you can delete (or temporarily disable) it from your ROM...
forum.xda-developers.com
(I didn't found anything to delete in those directories, fair enough since that post only mentions MIUI stock and Nougat/Oreo, and 13 is Tiramisu)
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 completely disable fingerprint scanner
Unintentional touching the fingerprint scanner, even with no fingerprints saved, wakes up device, which can be quite annoying and lead to several scenarios: -battery drain -turn on camera when in pocket -pause video in VLC -turn on flashlight...
forum.xda-developers.com
(I did found those files, which I promptly edited with the # at the start of each line, rebooted with no result, completely deleted and rebooted with no result and leave the files blank and reboot, again, with no result (Shocker, right?)
- Caveman solutions I have already tried:
Taping the button with the strongest, thickest duck tape I had around, (Yes, seriously), which did In fact worked but because the duct tape is an adhesive sometime it sticks, sealing the button down, therefore making it unreliable.
Tin the Button with a soldering iron to make it unable to do the **** that I don't want it to do, obviously it didn't work because the Tin with the resin flux can't stick to a piece of plastic.
Disassembling the phone to manually remove the sensor, which made me realize how insane hard is the glue holding the back and I don't have a hot air pump to open it, and the Oven didn't seem like a good idea to me.
- Solutions I'm trying as you are reading this:
Making a flat piece the same size as the button in blender to print it and superglue it.
Deleting all Google bloatware from the current ROM.
Looking with SD Maid for the driver/.com/file that remotely relates to fingerprint sensor to delete it.
Probably resting because I'm tired of pulling my hair out
Edit: Oh yeah and before any smartass comes saying "Actually don't use that rom duh", I'm posting this because derpfest is a really fantastic rom and I want to keep using it, I don't want to switch to a worse rom for something that could be fixed with a piece of plastic and superglue.

HD-2 Screen fails to respond

I am having a recurring issue with my screen going unresponsive. It does not happen regularly, sometimes putting it in standby and back with the power key will fix it other times I have to soft reset.
I have changed ROMs a few different times and I am now using Laurentious (sp) Rom. I run task 29.
I do not think it is the rom and think it may be time for a new screen but I want to trouble shoot it to be sure before I spend the money.
Any tips or ideas?
also where can I find the .cab file for the stock task manager?
Have you already tested your HD2 without SD card?
Does it show the same behavior?
Have you tried to format your SD card after a backup (copying your needed files)?
For formating SD card I recomend SD Formatter 3.0 and a card reader.
No I havent. The SD card could be causing the Sense to be unresponsive? Ill do that and see if it helps
A not fully functional SD card can be responsible for many issues, according to many post I read.
But also there is a possibility of wrong/bad combination of (H)SPL and RADIO needed for the diferent ROMs you tested.
Installed apps and customisations can also cause problems.
And sometimes double action on the HD2 can also cause such kind of freezes. For example: powering on the HD2 at the same time you receive a SMS or call, changing/adding appointments at the same time your reminder gets active.
BTW: I don't know Laurentius26 ROMs, but according to the given information in the thread the original task manager should still be there. Have a look in windows menu or with file explorer in windows folder.
changed out to a new SD card and Josh Rom 1.8 which has been the most stable one i have used. It is still occurring. Guess it is time for an upgrade
I've had this happen to 3 different HD2's...
Seems to be somewhat of a design flaw since it keeps occurring.
The manual plastic power button sits above the area of the small flex cable that goes to the digitizer. The plastic from the power button tends to occasionally strike that flex cable depending upon the amount of push pressure to it causing the fragile flex cable to eventually short. That's why sometimes when you power it off and then power it back on again, it'll work.
I think the problem gets exacerbated when you get in the habit of cleaning your screen as I do. I hate fingerprints and always wipe the whole screen down and rub it clean with my T-shirt, but I also am not being mindful of abrasively rubbing the buttons. Sometimes I'll find myself rubbing a bit too hard and probably disturbing the buttons in a manner or direction that doesn't fair well for the flex cable.
On 2 separate occasions I was always able to remedy the problem by replacing the digitizer... and now it's happening again with a 3rd unit of mine. It's just one of those wear & tear things that stands good chance to happen with time if you're not mindful of the exact problem every time you power on or power off your screen or clean your screen.
Interesting.. I have this happening on my Desire. Your explanation makes sense

If the whole board is replaced, the digitizer gets replaced too, right? I've replaced the lcd and board of my desire, and the problem persists

My screen started being always off during calls regardless of rom

Another thread about this stupid sensor.
My screen goes black when I call or answer a call. If I use a headset sometimes randomly the screen comes on or stays on when I answer a call.
The proximity sensor is working. Looking in *#*#7378423#*#* > Service tests > Ambient Light Sensor.
Putting it to a lamp gives a value of 10.0 and putting my finger over the sensor gives 0.0 .
So its working.
This seems to not be rom related if not for the change after Android 4.4. I flashed roms from cm-12.1-20161016-NIGHTLY-togari.zip, AOSP_N_161207_togari.zip and now I am on hybrid_concept_edition_2.0.zip.
I do have a screen protector on. But with a hole for the sensor. Its not dirty in that area. And the sensor worked fine way before I installed it.
This started happening during the last two months or so.
I tried numerus of apps from play store. None did anything. Of course I could force the screen to be on. But with the risk of pushing some buttons when I'm in a call.
My temporary fix so far has been to enable end call with power button
Do you have any idea what to do?
Thank you
I'm facing this same problem, I'm on stock.

yup.. I had mine apart today. But you need to remove the battery in order to flip the motherboard around to get to the connector.
I don't have time for that. Perhaps the battery will explode if I try to remove it..
So I cut a piece of foam plastic to fit around the usb connector so there is a constant pressure applied to the motherboard when screwed down the NFC antenna because there is a screw just around this area that sets the NFC antenna in place.
Hang on. I just made a call just for the sake of it that you answered to my thread and it freakin works!!!!!!!!!!!
I got the idea from this guy/gal: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...olution-proximity-sensor-fix-z-ultra-t3595525

Double tap to wake (not unlock, just wake)

Does anybody know any ROM, or something, to wake the device by double tap? (Wake, not unlock)
My FP has been taking a nap for quite some time, and I need something so I don't break the power button which seems a bit fragile if you ask me.
I did search but I could find something. Thanks.
Heyyo, sadly the issue is the touchscreen firmware does not support DT2W so even if it was enabled software wise it wouldn't work because of lack of hardware support.
For your FP not working are you referring to when your device is alseep for a while? If so then a modem firmware update will resolve that since it fixes the fingerprint not working when device is asleep bug.
My thread here I link Chinese 26s and Developer 466D modem firmware
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/cn-26s-05-09-best-modem-firmware-t3682977
Just flash via TWRP and reboot.

No no, I was joking, the FP is kinda dead... It catches a print whenever it wants, most of the times when it does it does with a huge delay, and most of the times it doesn't catch prints at all... I need an alternative for the malfunctioning FP that doesn't imply bashing the power button everyday. I'm already on 466D, tried literally every firmware possible and the FP is still broken.
I wonder, could a new firmware add dt2w support? What if we ask LeEco for that, even though they won't give a crap... ?
Edit: Forgot to mention, the first couple of hours after getting the device out of the box the FP was working just fine, both EUI and LOS. Tried to revert to stock to calibrate and other stuff and still nothing.

Ah shoot yeah that sounds like hardware.. she still within that first year of warranty? If so you should be able to RMA it.
Either that or ordering and replacing your fingerprint reader yourself. I've replaced my screen it's not too bad just takes a while to heat the adhesive tape enough to separate the screen from the phone.
As for adding in DT2W? My guess is they would need to physically flash it to the screen hardware much like a PC monitor manufacturer does if there is a software defect and they usually do so as a product recall... So odds are the Le Max 2 will never make it to our phones which is unfortunate
I don't want to deal with geekbuying. I heard stories from people who claim their FP came miraculously back to life, so until then, hail Mary... As for the FP change, I don't know, I heard it is very hard to deal with removing the glue, the screen is very thin... I don't know man.

It's technically not glue but heat activated 3M adhesive tape.
I bought this 2mm stuff when I did my screen replacement and it held like a rock
Double Sided Layer Adhesive Sticky Glue Tape Sticker 2mm Wide and 50 meter long for use in Tablets Mobile Phone Touchscreen Digitizer LCD Screen Display Glass Professional kit incl. 1 pair of Tweezers 1 Cleaning Clotch and 1 pair of Special Scissors https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00PVWMTA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oIjkAb08KY53Y
I do recommend wearing gloves as the phone gets darn hot once you take a heat gun or hair dryer to it heh it's honestly not too bad to repair.
You'll also need a small suction cup or if you have two you can out one on the screen and one on the back to make life a little easier.

Fingerprint sensor issues.

My fingerprint NEVER works on the first try. Sometime the 2nd and 3rd as well. I've registered both my pointer fingers TWICE each. I have had numerous Android devices including the G7 Power and never had this issue before. Anyone else having the same problem?
I've had the g7 optimo and now the g power 2020. Both have the fastest responding fingerprint sensors I've used. Sounds like you might have a hardware issue.
Yep!! Came from a G7, worked every single time. Now with the G it's hit and miss but only when opening the phone, haven't noticed it having issues with other apps.
What I've found to work out great, I use either pointer finger to unlock, more the right than left. So what I do is scan the right finger 3 times, and the left 2. That way each reading gets a different part of the finger and has a better chance at reading it. Hope that helps
Btw, I've done it on all my devices that have a fingerprint and it's always worked
It's my slowest smartphone talking about of fingerprint, and yes, you need to register your fingerprint very, but very accurately if you want a better unlock response. I needed to delete my fingerprints twice and then I did it again but without back protector and cleaning throughly my fingers, now the unlock accuracy it's better and don't need to try two or three times, but the time till the phone it's completely unlocked it's toooo long.
I would say to set up the fingerprints again. And pay close attention to scanning your entire fingertip slowly.
I have issues if my fingers get a little wet, like from condensation from a glass, or sweaty.

Lg v30 intermittent touch issue

Bought a new european lg v30+ , the First 6 months have been trouble free, after that i noticed the phone selecting random things while scrolling through chrome or even settings (Also happens in safemode), it seems like it's lagging, i have 50 apps in total including the stock ones, no games.
If i hold de task switch button for example it starts rapidly switching apps like i'm tapping really really quickly.
Sometimes while typing it selects letters multiple times instead of once. I assume if it was a faulty digitizer this would happen all the time? Phone has always been in a rugged case, no screenprotector. It's running official android 8 which i upgraded through lg bridge. Already tried factory reset, did not help fix this issue
If you enable Developer Mode and access those settings you can enable the phone to show you touches. This will confirm the phantom touches in apps is coming from the operating system.
My guess is that you have some crud/dirt around the edge of the screen. Take it out of the case and give it a good clean with isopropyl alchohol, and run your fingernail along the edge with a tissue. I certainly have had similar behaviour at times on various phones if the screen gets a a bit grimy and resolved it with a good clean
Other than that is probably a faulty digitiser and might need to be replaced.

I did enable show touches in developer mode, sometimes i saw the phone suddenly not registering my finger while i never lifted it off the screen. I will try to give it a good clean. Screenshot i posted below should have been 1 continuously line, that's what the phone registers when it 'freaks' out. Could this be linked to the amount of ram available?
