Android 13 for T-Mobile Tab S7? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Questions & Answer

Hey folks -- I've got the T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S7, and based on T-Mobile's Android 13 roadmap, it looks like T-Mobile's not updating the Tab S7. Does anyone have any info on this? Or any suggestions on other ways to get my device updated?
Thanks!
Alan

True, but since it is the T-Mobile version, it may not work. His device is not the WiFi only model.

Been wondering the same thing. It sucks that they don't abide by the manufacturer update process.
Went through the something similar with the MyTouch with the back and forth. T-Mobile blamed the manufacturer for the delayed update and vice-versa. I got tired of waiting and got a new phone.

Got an OTA update to One UI 5 Android 13. It may have come earlier in the week but I haven't been on my tablet all week.

Yeah, I got it too! Nice surprise ..... That Android 13 roadmap page still doesn't list it for the S7, and even the S8 shows as "in development". Maybe the page just doesn't reflect reality?
It's very nice to have Android 13 on the Tab S7!

[Q] Can I root and flash a 10.1 tab from South Korea?

I have a 16gb wifi tab from South Korea. Do the same rooting/flashing methods apply that are currently available to American tabs.
If no one can say, is there a way I can check so I can offer this information to others who will be purchasing the tabs over here?
Thanks!
It should be the same, root still revolves around SU and Busybox.
The only thing I would worry about is a locked bootloader, if you have to flash it with the North America one, it might not work.

Hey shanmc, on your Korean version of the TAB do you have the reader's hub with kyobo, yes24 and other Korean bookstores linked to it? I'm hoping the US version comes with those or an option for them since I'd like to purchase books from those stores.... I have the 16GB wifi US version. Enjoy your new tab!

i too would like to know this
as i will be in skorea in about 3 weeks i would like to know if it is worth while to buy a galaxy tab 10.1 with wifi (and probably UMTS as well).
is there already a known opportunity to root and flash the galaxy tab 10.1 to an european version of android or a kind of stock rom without any korean widgets or korean specific customizations?
cheerz
All wifi versions should root using this process. It is the verizon lte tabs that are buggy.
If any mods are around, I sure need some help on the LTE 4g version tablet and how to root the thing. The instructions appear to be the same across the net but, the verizon tabs go black after booting back up and trying to get into recovery??

[Q] Rooting an unlocked device.

I am planning on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 soon but I am going to buy it unlocked. Is it possible to root an unlocked phone. I have not seen any guides on Youtube or online yet that show guides on rooting a certain unlocked phone. I want to root it as soon as it is possible to root it safely. I am going to buy it unlocked but I am not going to get a plan from T-Mobile from it until January. My main question is: Is it possible to root a smartphone that does not have a sim card in it and is bought unlocked and if there is what guide do I use(like do I use the guide for how to root the galaxy note 3 tmobile edition or att edition or verizon edition.) Can someone please answer by September 4th.
It's the exact same. Locked or unlocked makes no difference.

rooting has nothing to do on your Phone Network settings. it depends on your mobile model on how you root it and not by your network carrier.

If it is like that then why do they have a specific video for how to root a Verizon Galaxy S4 or a specific video on how to root the AT&T Galaxy S4. So let's say I get a Galaxy S4. I just have to look at a video that shows me how to root my specific model like the Galaxy S4 I9500?

The video you would follow is the one for the international unlocked version. For example to root the unlocked international Galaxy S4 I would go to the Galaxy S4 I9500 section on XDA and then look for a root guide or if your looking for a video guide on site such as YouTube I would search on YouTube "root Galaxy S4 I9500" and follow the root procedure for the Galaxy S4 I9500 device model. So when you get the unlocked international version of the Galaxy Note 3 you see what model number is has and would Google or search on YouTube something similar to "root Galaxy Note 3 international" or "root Galaxy S3 (insert international unlocked edition model number here. The international edition is the standard globally carrier unlocked edition that can be used with any carrier's SIM's that support the phones radio basebands. If you still have any questions let me know and I can try and clear them up for you.

thank you that provided a good explanation. So if I buy the Galaxy Note 3 unlocked straight from Samsung I am actually getting the unlocked International version? But if I get the international version, i won't have 4G LTE. I live in the USA btw.

That is correct if you buy it straight form Samsung your buying an unlocked International version. As far as 4G LTE compatibility, Samsung is likely going to release an international unlocked model that is compatible with United Sates LTE bands on most carriers. The new trend for devices is to have global LTE capability that is compatible with LTE networks in both the U.S.A, Europe, and other places across the globe.

The Galaxy Note 2 was approximately $750 when it was released last year for the unlocked international version. I would expect the Galaxy Note 3 to be about the same price when it's released.

In my own opinion the jury is out on the HTC One Max as it's HTC's first attempt at a phablet format device I would have read a bunch of reviews, get users opinions, and try it out for myself before I could render any real opinion on it. That being said it does look like a promising device, however I would give the edge to Samsung because they have a proven track record of success with the Galaxy Note series of devices. And don't worry your questions are perfectly acceptable and are as far from irrelevant as it gets so keep them coming I'll be happy to answer them!

For the HTC One Maxx I would predict it to be around $800-$850 in price. The main thing that could make it more expensive then the Galaxy Note 3 is HTC likes to use "premium materials" such as machined aircraft grade aluminium.

Yeah you are correct. Do you know if they are going to be launching a Galaxy S4 with a snapdragon 800. If they do then and if I get it and root it specifically by it's model number then will I be able to find ROMS for it. My exact question is: Will the same ROMS that work for the original Galaxy S4 work with the Galaxy S4 with the Snapdragon 800 processor? I wouldn't think there would be a difference because the processor has nothing to do with the ROM but I was just wondering just in case because the Galaxy S4 with Snapdragon 800 could be classified as a totally different phone and have separate roms for it or something.

The a updated international version of the Galaxy S4 with the model number GT-i9506 containing LTE-A (LTE Advanced) and a Snapdragon 800 recently was seen in a FCC filling leading to the belief that we may see that coming to the U.S.A soon. More info on the updates Galaxy S4 can be found here. As far as ROM's are concerned, ROM's that work on the original Galaxy S4 will very likely not work on the new updated Galaxy S4 if and when it is released because as you mentioned both devices will be classified as two completely different devices with different model numbers meaning different ROM's. Even though devices have similar hardware, ROM's that are designed for a particular device model are meant to work on that device model only. Any ROM's for the old Galaxy S4 would have to be ported to work on the new Galaxy S4 if and when it is released, due to them still being two different device models.

4.3 Cancelled for Note 2?

http://www.ibtimes.com/android-43-j...e-2-system-roll-out-retracted-has-update-been
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for older Samsung devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may be in jeopardy as one clue of the prospective update has been retracted by its source.
Those anxious to see the Galaxy Note 2 get what would be its first update since its September 2012 release were pleased when the Australian carrier Telstra announced on its support page that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 2 had been “withdrawn” in favor of a new Android version. Though no other details were given, many believed this was an indication that the Galaxy Note 2 would update to Android 4.3.
But now Telstra has updated its support page and information about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and its update schedule has notably been removed. It is unclear why the carrier removed this information about the Galaxy Note 2 update, and many fear it could mean the Android 4.3 update for the device might be canceled.
Mid-July reports suggested that older yet still popular Samsung devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be skipping the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update in favor for Android 4.3. Both devices have been stuck at various iterations of Android 4.1 for some time, and users have been anxious to see what treatment these devices would get in the wake of newer flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, which released with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to ship with Android 4.3.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Update To Rollout For U.S. Handsets In September?
In addition to Telstra’s vague announcement, the German carrier Deutsche Telekom also announced on its official forum that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would be receiving an Android 4.3 update at some point. Many took this news as confirmation that plans for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 where similar, but with the release schedule for Android 4.3 on Telstra now uncertain, we wonder what will happen to the update on Deutsche Telekom.
Meanwhile, a rival flagship, the HTC One, is now confirmed for an Android 4.3 update. HTC president Jason Mackenzie divulged that the handset will similarly skip Android 4.2.2 in favor for Android 4.3 because it is a particularly minimal update between the two versions.
It is likely that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 will be updated to a new Android Jelly Bean version at some point, but the matter of which Jelly Bean version it will get and when it will roll out may continue to be a mystery for some time.
However, with U.S. models of the HTC One expected to be running Android 4.3 by the end of September, we can assume that Samsung will ensure an update for its older flagships to keep up with the competition.
Good lord people jump off buildings over nothing. Telsta is not Samsung. No release date does not mean never. Relax people.
Wait so since a random phone company, with no relation to Samsung nor in the same country as Samsung, removed update "Information" from their page now the update is cancelled? Right.
hate seeing this stuff, IF, and a big if at that, Samsung decided to remove the 4.2.2/4.3 update for the note 2/s3 then Samsung would honestly be stupid and lose a lot of backing from its customers. so if an Australian company has removed the update status of a Korean (at least i think Samsung is Korean...) company then this post needs to post about something that actually matters, because this is obviously a troll/sad attempt at news by the online news website.

I basically said the same thing on Google+. The info being removed doesn't necessarily mean the update won't come.
The speculation of the update not coming when the articles state the reason for the removal is unclear is ridiculous.

There are people who have been saying that the data plan prices will drop when VZW starts putting up the newest 4G towers, I can't remember the name for the newest 4G, because its much faster and will be capable of giving the user more bandwidth etc. What they aren't taking into account is that prices shouldve dropped when the 4G towers went up and we went off of 3G to 4G, that never happened though. Instead VZW dropped unlimited and moved to a ****ing ridiculous Shared Plan.
VZW is going to do nothing but charge more and more for data no matter how much better, faster, etc it gets.

The worst part of this whole 4.3 debacle is that only one site has even made mention of it. And truly, is removing information even making mention of it? The aggregate "News" sites then post it as the gospel.

S4 I337 4.3 update - US Cellular?

Back in late October, a leaked document had given us a look at the update schedule for the Android 4.3 updates for various Samsung devices by major US carriers, including the Galaxy S4. Now, a new document obtained by Android Police has revealed that the Galaxy S4 on carrier US Cellular will begin receiving the update from November 8th, starting from 9 AM in the morning.
The update – build R970TYURMJA – will add support to the Galaxy S4 for the Galaxy Gear, improve performance and display quality, add new camera and TouchWiz features, KNOX functionality, and more. Also accompanying the update will be a newer Kies version, so for those using their computers to upgrade, an update to Kies might be required as well.

This update has nothing to do with the SGH-I337. I know there isn't a forum for the US Cellular variant, but you should title the post of this thread accordingly. If you have a Galaxy S4 on US Cellular, then you model number is SCH-R970. The i337 is an AT&T only variant.
It probably makes more sense for this thread to exist in the Galaxy S4 international forums.
I dont understand what this has to do with the ATT galaxy s4 variant.
Yeah, move it to us cellular please, I got all confused

I put this update off until yesterday. I wish i had continued to put it off as this update is a hunk of garbage. My phone has rebooted over 20x and constantly crashes when playing games, and any other hardware intensive application.
No I am not exaggerating.
I booted into recovery, wiped 3x to hard reset it and still have these issues. I am now looking at a custom ROM from this site to install.
Do not install this update if you can avoid it.

It's crazy, my Wife's Note 8 got the May patch already. My S6 has April and my S9+ has February, WTH?
Maybe they're cooking up a big update or something and it's taking time.
The absolute worst part of owning a Samsung phone is the horrible firmware update process. They just plain don't give a crap after they have sold you the $1000 device!!
Even China ZTE is better!!!
I have the may 1st security patch. I purchased the unlocked model through Samsung and then flashed the T-Mobile firmware. I've been getting updates from T-mobile's server. I would check Samsung firmware science and flash the latest update available.
