Oxygen 11 has arrived, and I can't stand it - which ROM suites my needs? - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

So, the new Oxygen based on Android 12 has taken away almost everything that still makes me happy with my phone, even after all those years:
-Customizable launcher & icons
-Straightfoward settings
-good widget support
-monochromatic settings for notifications and stuff
It now feels like a bad implementation of stock Android - only thing that still is a USP are the screen gestures, but even those are now "fixed" - no circle for flashlight anymore!
So, where do I go from here? Which ROM to flash? I'd like to try the hardened lineageOS stuff (have both experience with stock lineage as well as with grapheneOS), but I'd love to keep my screen gestures - anyway to combine that?

Not many options here. Either go back to oos11 or try customs. Pixel experience, flamingo and derpfest are currently well maintained, however all have some issues. There are separate telegram channels for each. Also you can try this channel where all the info about the ROM and kernel development can be found: https://t.me/op7discussion

[Q] Any Nexus-like ROM?

Hey,
I am wondering, is there any Nexus-like ROMs for our device? I am not talking about CM/CAF/AOSP based comparisons.
Every custom ROM I have tried so far have their own "customizations" or "addings". Some offer to change the DPI, some enable sound mods, many let you pick which wound you want to adjust from the top volume panel, again many let you set display things, most come with extra apps like creator team's own file manager, almost all of them let you have themes etc...
What I am asking; is there any way to make this device be what if Google would made it be as per the "user" aspect. It doesn't matter if it is based on CAF or has some closed sourse elements to make camera work. Just looking for a ROM that is as simple as a Nexus on the user experience side (no extra features or extra tabs on the settings menu) and also stable enough to be a daily driver (doesn't have to compete with stock's camera or music performance, or doesn't have to be awesomly calibrated like other custom ROMs).
Today I have tried AOSP from FXPblog but apperiently it is there to show us that Sony cares and to be a base for software developers, rather than being a daily driver. Because it did not even have camera (don't know if there is a way to add it).
So basically, is there a ROM that I will be feeling like I am using a Nexus device (of course I'll add GApps myself) instead of a custom ROM on a Z2 when using, withour caring what's or how it is running on the background?
Thanks
Nope, the closest you get would be AOSPA it is CM based and has some additions but its the most closest working Rom avaliable for Z2 as far as i know

Quick ball feature on CM 13

I am using the official CM 13 ROM for kenzo on my device but I really liked the quick ball feature on MIUI. Is there any way to get the *same* quick ball feature on CM 13? If not, what alternative comes closest to it?Thanks.
Up, i really need quick ball for cm 13 too. Redmi note 3 screen is too large

Closest
Maybe you shouldn't have tiny baby hands.
JK, you can flash Xposed, get Gravitybox and use the included Pie controls for a very very similar experience, but it's more customizable.
Zone AssistiveTouch
This is as far best "QUICK BALL" for all Android...
Works/functions EXACTLY like MIUI's QUICK BALL...

(ROM)FLYME 6 UNOFFICAL RELEASE FOR IDO

Its been more than a month of lauching of the Flyme 6 firmware. This is the review of the version 6.. And its really great.
I'm using it for about 10 days now.
The boot animation now features a black background and the new flat logo.
The black background really looks great.
screenshot REFER TO MY POST AT MIUI FORUM:http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=613853&page=1#pid12147739
Next is the Homescreen
The first glimpse of the UI gives a playful and a fresh look. The icons are redesigned (though few apps are still from Flyme 5 in this beta), there is a new color selection of the UI featuring bright and young colors.
Setting app:
This change is made throughout the system and the best of it is visible in the Settings app, which now has colorful icons instead of the gray icons earlier.
State bar:
Also the Notification shade is enhanced. The icons are now bolder amd compact. And instead of just four in a row earlier, it features 5 icons in a row which saved up more space for your important notifications. Though the thing I'm missing the most is the Settings icon which was there earlier.
The Clock font is more bolder now.
And one new nifty feature is 'Unimportant Notifications' which is a drawer containing other, not so useful notifications. The notifications are categorized intelligently by the new One Mind AI.
music app:
The Music app is also revamped and optimised to view the controls better due to the white color scheme. There is a nice pattern background in the music player
The Toolbox app is also redesigned and features few more tools- Random (Flip a Coin), Decibel meter, and Protractor in Ruler.
Now take a look at the new Calculator app. The whole app is redesigned and made more professional. The new color scheme looks awesome.
There is a nice UI overhaul in the Contacts app.
There are new iconic Contact avatars along with colorful pattern backgrounds.
And now the best thing I liked. The new Multitasking tray. It displays the apps more bigger and better and has anice animation.
(Its like in iOS 9 ). Also there is a new 'Secret' option to blur out the task card. And the 'Clear All tasks' button is now at the bottom instead at the top earlier. This makes it reachable with one-handed usage.
the lockscreen and camera was also redesigned ,it loook nicer
Performance:
The overall performance is great. Everything runs fluidly. Aninations are great. There are over 400 new animations. I must say that the Battery life is awesome. The charging time is also less. RAM management needs a bit more optimization. The benchmark scores are slightly higher in Flyme 6.
Everything else is just fine.

Thanks ! Are the AOSP roms anny better than miui in your opinion ?
First time using miui and I kind of like it. Only the vibration feedback isn't the best wishes this phone.

Mi-globe is a modified version of miui and they have Miui 10 pie for our device. It also has less bloat and ads removed. It also has face unlock, wallpaper carousel, and fixed hide notch.
Aosp roms are fine. They are all basic android (no skin like samsung, htc, etc) and range in features from pure android source to massive customization options.
I have like MIUI since I first tried it back during gingerbread. Only thing I miss is the app drawer but have gotten used to using folders on my home screens.
AOSP has been a favorite of mine but i have to say that MIUI does feel nice to navigate and despite all the snappiness of an AOSP rom . MIUI provides many apps that i believe that are themed and presented better this way, although i prefer the google integrations rather than Xiaiomi ones with cloud and assistant, MIUI provides some settings and ease of use that i would otherwise not know that i needed or missed with Google. Point is: it's still fast, it has nice features and customization, don't like the Xiaomi cloud services or ads as i don't need another service keeping tabs on me.
Is the Mi8 lite global beta in Pie btw? I have conflicted results in my searches

Do you know the estrimated release date?
The 9.2.15 Pie is good. But I was disappointed to see Camera2 Api still as Legacy even with Redmi Note 7 coming as Full.

Question Best solution for 3rd party launcher + gestures?

Hello lovely community,
I'm getting sick and tired of the stock MIUI launcher. I want something more simple, but the big issue for me, is the ability to use gestures.
I've tried third party launcher along side Fluid Navigation Gestures app, but I don't think it's smooth enough. And it's unrealiable, because the app might crash at some point.
My question is: what's the best solution to this problem?
I am willing to install a custom rom, in case that solves the problem.
This rom is very good.

So I guess that another rom fixes the problem? Are you able to use third party launcher along side with gestures and no navigation bar?
Also, have you noticed any bugs? I've tried other Roms before, I just want something that is somewhat stable. Not too many bugs.

Maybe you would like to try Neo Launcher. It's part of the foss Neo applications suite, and with a very active development.
You can find it in git-hub, F-Droid, its Telegram group...

I was actually hoping to do Niagara or something in that direction.
Does Neo Launcher provide gestures or does it work with the one MIUI offers?
I'm just looking for the best option for Gesture navigation + third party launcher.
Yes it includes gesture navigation and they work, but I've not fully tested all of them.
IMHO you should give a try k no need to install anything)
Ended up installing Pixel Experience Plus and it worked like a charm. Now I use Niagara with system gestures.
Positive experience! Haven't had any issues so far, and the rom seems to have much more to offer than MIUI.
This phone would have been insane with a decent OS. Such a shame that MIUI is so crappy.

Tried out your solution, but it didn't integrate with the built in gestures. As soon as I install the launcher, it will turn on button navigation and I cannot enable gestures.
