Am I missing something???

For some reason my phone keeps waking up....randomly. Its just sitting here and the screen turns on. I'm running launcher pro plus through Bionix Fusion 1.1/w voodoo. Maybe I'm over looking something, but any help would be appreciated. Just started happening a day or two ago, and is driving meh up the wall.
Have you changed any Sync settings or downloaded any new apps that may wake from sleep on notifications?
~SB
The only new app i'm using is launcher pro plus and I can't find an option to able/disable a wake function.
So after you installed/activated Pro Plus you've been having your phone wake? If so maybe a uninstall -> reinstall will fix the problem. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Nah, it started happening a few days after i installed luancher pro plus. what i meant by "new" apps is one i've never used before. Although, I will give that a try and see if it fixes the problem. Like you said, worth a try.

[Q] how to keep GPS active when phone goes to sleep?

Does anyone know a way to keep GPS running when the phone goes to sleep? There are times when I want to have my location continuously reported to Google Latitude, and it's a terrible waste of battery to keep the screen running just to do that.
I'd thought there would be an easy answer to this, but I'm not finding one. There's a two-year-old XDA post on this question here without any real answers. And I found a post elsewhere that suggests that Tasker can make the phone keep GPS working when the screen goes off, but I don't see any function in Tasker for this.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Alan

I found Tasker sucked the hell out of my battery, but nevermind... It depends on the app some of them will just pull GPS data when it is asked for, which im sure Latitude would do... What are you trying to achieve exactly?
EDIT: If you do try Tasker you can set it so certain apps will activate the GPS and certain screen times, hours of the day etc...
Thanks! I'm trying to find a way for Google Latitude (which I think just runs within maps) to record my path via GPS (say when I'm on a hiking trip) without the screen needing to be on constantly, which is the only way I've found to do that so far. But if you are saying that I can make a tasker profile which will tell my phone to keep the GPS on when Maps is running, then I think that would solve this! Or do you have a better approach in mind?

There is an app specifically for that on the market I can't remember what its called though sorry just search hiking or something

OK -- I found a really nice app for this: Latify. (There's also the unfortunately named Backitude, which looks like it would get the job done.)
Thanks for the tips, everyone!

Sorry to bump this, but I thought you might like this better if you want to keep your GPS receiver always on when your screen is off (will drain your battery of course)

GPSTracker Lite, specifically made for what its name is. It tracks your path. I use it in my car, in which case the phone is always on the charger when this is running.
Hope this helped.

I've read in the changelog from the new version of Google Maps something about battery saving with latitude. Just go to the market and try to read yourself the details.... I don't use latitude, so I didn't go into details....

Deep sleep not working! Please help!

Hi guys. I've opened this thread because I have a serious problem: deep sleep is not working on my HTC EVO 3D, the GSM version. I've tried many things, from changing roms to wiping data but nothing works. I'm asking you if you could help me and the other users who have this problem resolve this once and for all.

So, here's my problem. After I unplug my phone from charging, deep sleep stops working. I've done many tests to prove this, so, I'm certainly sure that this is the problem that causes my battery to drain. But, after I reboot my phone, it suddenly starts behaving as normal. What causes it to malfunction? I'm using KingCobra 2.2 with Anryl 10.07 kernel on a GSM HTC EVO 3D. I also had this problem on LeeDroid 5.3 and 5.4 with LeeDroid kernels 5.3.8 and 5.4. Please help!!! This thing is driving me mad.

I'll see what I can do. Maybe I'll do a factory reset or change the radio.
Try removing any apps that have advertisements, or apps you don't need.

I think not. I have s-off and root. But I won't change it. I've already done a factory reset so we should see the results in a day.

Hope that one of the 3 apps isnt the cause.....Also Check if the "Up time" and "Awake time" are same or not. Check only when the screen will be off for a few hours.......not if you are using it every few mins.

So far, so good. Deep sleep works, as system tuner says. I will charge it tomorrow and after I unplug it I will reset the system tuner stats and see what it says.
try betterbatterystats app.. it show you whats keeping your phone awake.. works real well.. u can get it for free on here..
Finished charging and I've removed it. deep sleep doesn't work!

I am 90% sure it is one of the app that you install in every ROM. Maybe some kind of monitor that keeps checking something.
And Do you keep your data always on? Your phone might be trying to sync in every few hours/mins.

I'm not sure, but it might be system tuner. Anyway, I've reinstalled my phone with ROMeOS and I won't be using system tuner anymore. I'll keep this topic updated.
Hey there, i have the same problem! It also indicated as "android is" as battery sucker when u think phone is in deep sleep android os still consumes battery and u have no deep sleep! After reboot, it is ok!

The best thing to do is to make a factory reset. Drain the battery to around 13 percent and then plug it in. When it reaches 100% remove it and leave it for around 10-20 minutes. After that wake your phone up and if the battery is still 100 or 99% the problem is gone and it was an app that was causing the problem. Just MAKE SURE YOU DON'T INSTALL ANY APPS FROM THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE OR FROM YOUR SD CARD. ESPECIALLY SYSTEM MONITORS. MAYBE THEY SOMEHOW CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. I hope this helps.
Hi, Thanks
but this is not the solution i want ;-)
i am too lazy to make a factory reset and then install one app after another and check if it still got the problem.
(the easiest way ist with CPU-Spy - there u can watch how long it was in deep sleep)
so if anyone gut the solution without factory reset or a way to check which app causes how many percent of "android os"
please tell me / us
thanks

I'm not saying that you should install all apps one by one. I'm just saying that you should try the thing I mentioned above just to see if an app is causing the problem. Anyway, yesterday that problem occured to me once again. Now I'm really confused.

[APP] Autostarts (type)

Does anyone know of an app that can disable autostarts, that actually works with ICS? The "autostarts" app from the market hasn't worked properly in a while for me... where as on my G2 it made quite a difference...
please give me your suggestions, looking to change apps as soon as possible =)
thanks in advance!

System tuner has a "startups" section that seems to do the trick for me.. I was actually just messing with that this morning, trying to figure out if there are certain apps I don't use much using my shiz.
Hell, if you're trying to tame your battery use, look at the "events" section right next to startups - with that you are supposed to be able to shut off certain PARTS of a program - like I only use G+ to autosync new pictures, I turned off everything but the photo sync part, and now g+ doesn't show up under betterbatterystats at all(I only have it sync on wifi, while plugged in).
Give me some feedback if it isn't working for you, but seems to work fine for me!

[Q] Alarm woes

Team,
I have tried a number of the sophisticated alarm apps but I can't find one that wakes up my tablet. Whether I have turned the screen off or let it go to sleep, the alarms do not sound until I physically double-tap the device. Then the alarm kicks in immediately. Obviously, it is totally pointless if I have to wake up the XZT before the alarm sounds!! As this seems to happen with a number of apps, I can only assume that there is a setting somewhere that I have overlooked. Can someone solve this for me please?
Thanks
Do you have Greenify installed or any similar apps that may put the app to sleep? Is this the stock alarm you are using that isn't working?

Nope, I don't know what Greenify is! The stock app seems to work OK. It's the more complex alarms that wake up slowly or provide "nap" features that don't seem to wake the tab up.
If someone could recommend an app that they know works and wakes up the tab, I'd be happy to give it a try.
BTW upgraded to 4.2 yesterday but the problem is still there.
Cheers

I use Timely and it works perfectly. Sounds like the app isn't your problem though.

Thanks - you have solved my problem without realizing it!:good:
I loaded Timely, set a test alarm and it immediately told me that it wouldn't work while Stamina was enabled. It even gave instructions on how to add an exception to Stamina.
Working perfectly now.
Many thanks - I hope this helps others:laugh:
Glad I could inadvertently help! I still think that's odd, but it's good to know for the future. I keep my tablet in the dock, so that may be why I haven't noticed the problem before.
