Camera recommendations for Custom Rom - Nokia 6.1 Plus (X6) Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
I have been experimenting with different camera apps including gcam and these are my recommendations and pros/cons. Please add your opinions as well and ROM your running. My tests are done via /e/ os android 12.
Best camera app for this phone HDM Camera latest version:
apkmirror.com/apk/hmd-global/
Pros:
-Most stable
-motion and night shots work
-Does not freeze phone or crash and can switch between modes flawlessly
-pictures process quickly
-no need to reboot device ever to fix camera
Cons:
-will not install from app store, must be manually installed
-selfie cam does not work
Best Gcam:
Most stable Gcam I found is Hasli's 8.4: LMC8.4_R15
With custom configs entered for Nokia 6.1, it works really good in comparison to other releases.
celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-hasli/
Pros:
-all the camera modes appear to work
-selfie and back camera work
Cons:
-cannot be installed from app store
-photos take a while to process
-excessive use will crash camera and you would need to reboot device to fix

Update:
New Gcam released and works flawless for this device by bigkaka:
BigKaka: AGC8.4.300_V9.6
Download AGC8.4.300_V9.6 by BigKaka.
www.celsoazevedo.com
Alternative camera:
Libre cam : not many features but works flawless as well for a simple camera on this device.

Please Help !!! In search of a working google camera mod working on official eui 19s.

Hey,
i just flashed official EUI indian 19s on my Le max 2 due to battery issue with all oreo custom roms.
i enabled Camera2api using build prop editor.
But now when i am trying to install any developer's google cam mod i am facing multiple problems-
1. Many mods doesn't support android 6.0.1 because of that every time when i am trying to install a modded apk i get this error - THERE WAS A PROBLEM WHILE PARSING THE PACKAGE. ( Screenshot attached)
2. After searching for some time i am able to find some modded apk which does install but they r also not working properly - some are giving bizarre pinkish images and some r dont even have basic HDR+ function in them. ( Screenshot attached)
Could you guys please suggest me which google camera mod supports indian 19s and work properly and have basic function like HDR+ and portrait mode working .
Thanks in advance.

Heyyo, you'll need a version of Google Camera Mod for Marshmallow and you will also need to force Camera API v2 as EUI ROM only uses camera API v1.
This guide tells you how to do that and it is the same on X2 with EUI ROM. I the raw mode stuff probably won't work as that is MediaTek specific parts for this guide.
https://appuals.com/enable-camera2-api-shoot-raw-android/
On here you will need to search for an Android 6.0 Marshmallow version of Google Camera Mod.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Third option is to switch to ChrisBalGreece versions of Indian EUI ROM and I think he even has one based on Indian 21s as I believe all his EUI ROM mods come with Camera API v2 and Google Camera Mod included.
Good luck!

Thanks For Your Reply.
I already enabled Camera2Api using that same method and i cheeked it using Manual Camera Compatibility app from plus store and Camera2Api is working super fine after it.
The real issue is i am unable to find a modded version of Gcam which have basic function working properly android marshmallow 6.0.1 - some are giving bizarre pinkish images and some r dont even have basic HDR+ function in them.
Because approximately every modded app work only with oreo or nogut.
Is anyone out there who is using a modded Gcam which have basic function working properly Like HDR+ and Portrait Mode on eui 19s Indian,
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REPLY.
Thanks In Advance

Most mods are based on Google Camera 5. Thus, they won't install on Marshmallow, because original Google Camera 5 requires Android 7.1.
Afaik latest Google Camera suitable for Android 6 is version 3.2 and it uses only camera api v1.
There may be som mods with decreased min API to allow install newer Google Camera versions on older Android, but I doubt it's going to work.
Btw. portatit mode is not possible on Android 6.0. It requires Android 8.

I know that the root isn't necessarily... But you must have bootloader unlocked and modify some lines in the build prop... Someone, with alternative rom, say that he can use both lens without modify build prop... So... There is some method to use both lens on a full stock Moto x 4? I mean without unlock bootloader or do anything.. A sort of pug and play apk
I modify for add this apk :
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_V2.2beta3.190624.0200.apk
Posted in another thread by uccollab... Actually I used this one and everything work fine for me... Ah there are some things to change like :
- on "About" check "advanced options"
- on HDR+ Options:
1) Disabled AWBGains Mod -> ON
2) RAW Format -> RAW10
3) Image Format -> YUV_420_888
4) GCAM wb Mode -> ON
Also, I suggest you to check the "Saturation adjustements" section, because this version really oversaturates photos. Try what levels are the best for you, in my case they were 1.0 - 1.0 for back camera and 1.1 - 1.3 for front camera.
( copied and pasted from the same thread so thanks uccollabs and thanks to Arnova that is the developer)

When I was on oreo I used cstark27 version 5.1 ( posted in the first post) ...
Stable and fast....
Actually I am on pie but that version still work.. So I continue to use it alternatively to 6.2
I'm on Havoc OS and BSG V2e, based on Gcam 6.1, works perfectly for me with buffer fix and AUX camera switch.

The most stable and newest version that I found so far that works for Android 10 is Urnyx's 7.2.010 v2.3.
It does NOT support slow motion.

Hello, here is a 7.3 that you can try
https://www.xda-developers.com/goog...ary-camera-support-many-devices-without-root/
In particular with this app you can activate the secondary camera in that way : setting >> general advanced >> foto active the secondary camera ...
Attention if you active also the 3a camera the app will crash and you will not able to use the camera . . Tomorrow I will test it with the sunlight , because I' am using it without xml setting ... But the most important thing is that it works!
Ps: I am on stock pie, with bootloader locked a without root .
Ps2: I have finded that version thanks to @sleze that posted it some post under this .

GCAM For Pixel Experience Redmi 5 plus.

Hi, i am currently using pixels experience custom rom on my device but the current pre installed gcam doesn't had night scene, and sometimes its lagging.. Does anyone have a stable version for gcam selfie and night scene.
Thanks
Just get the last file, which works best for android 9.x pie variants. I'm running it on Syberia OS, and the only issues I have is selfie in portrait mode doesn't work.

After a lot of testing following is working for me (using HavocOS without Gapps):
- flash attached camera_2api.zip (it's from the note 5 plus forum, but works for me)
- flash the attached camera (it's a Magisk module, so Magisk must be flashed too)
As always: making a backup is recommended. Hope I could help.

I think it's Mui Camera. But the package name is "com.android.camera". Version code is 2.0. I attached a screenshot.
I recommend using GCamera_Mod_v.5.1.23_R5Plus_fix_crash for Front Camera on any rom!
And I also recommend bsg-test-8.1 then disabling the location, shutter sound and enabling
the HDR+ Enhanced to prevent crashing then installing MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.3d_TlnNeun
and configuring it properly If you did that without crashes (Which I have done many times!) then update
to MGC_6.1.021_BSG_Arnova-based_v.1.4a_TlnNeun and done now you have to configure It yourself properly
else It'll be pretty crappy!
If you're dumb and cant understand this then simply flash the MIUI Camera above my post
I recommend xtreme v2s config, and 7hdr frames for day 36 for night and fully working night sight
with good auto-focus in low-light and sharpness etc.

Question Guide Request for A12 ANX

Hello to all
I'm running PixelOS - amazing ROM- but I couldn't find a way to install ANX on it
I tried to flash core>>camera>> provider using the latest magisk canary
and got stuck on redmi logo
a good guide to get it working will be much appreciated
thanks in advance
Links here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-12-mojito-sunny-pixelos-official-aosp.4401635/post-86592051
Install: 1. core 2. provider 3. camera, reboot and it should be enough.
After about an hour of mixing and matching MIUI Cores, ANX Camera versions, RN10 Patch (the one posted here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ra-for-redmi-note-10-discuss-updates.4324195/) and the Camera Provider Module by ANX, I've come to these conclusions (all tested in Android 12):
1) The newest 204 version, or the 190R version of ANX Camera app don't work with the RN10 Patch.
2) The newest 204 version doesn't work with the Camera Provider Module
Long story short, no 204 for RN10 as for now.
3) The old MIUI Core still works on Android 12.
4) The ANX Camera Unity 190R Light version didn't work. Opt for the full version.
What worked for me:
1) Install the MIUI Core Module. Both versions 1.8 and latest 4.0 beta 1 worked for me. https://github.com/reiryuki/Miui-Core-Magisk-Module (download link at the bottom of the page)
2) Install the ANX UnityCamera Module. The modded for R and NOT the Light version https://camera.aeonax.com/#predownloads
3) Install the ANXCameraProvider v190 https://camera.aeonax.com/#postdownloads
edit: The order of steps 2 and 3 matters. If one fails, try switching them.
Just tried installing core -> camera -> provider on PE+ ROM and every time I start the camera app it freezes after a few seconds and shows an error "Can't connect to camera". Have you seen this error?
Yes, I've had this error multiple times when trying other versions of ANXCamera. Generally the types of error are two; the one mentioned and no text at all, just the app closing.
Tbh I was testing the Camera Provider Module always after the Unity Camera all the time because that is what makes sense. It's like a patch to the app, right? Anyways, since you got the thing to work with the Provider first and then the app, I should change my comment in case anyone follows it and have it fail.
Also I tested this on the Pixel OS ROM, which shouldn't matter though. You have it working on PE12+ as Core -> Provider -> Camera?

Hey, i tried your method for installing, but it didn't work for me unfortunately. I installed the MIUI core 4.0 stable , the rest of the files were same. I'm on Pixel Experience Plus Android 12. I'm also trying other modules and mixing and matching stuff but nothing works. The app either crashes as soon as it opens or it opens for a few seconds and then says can't connect to camera. If you have any leads lemme know . Thanks !

Camera Version / APK

Hi there to any OP7T Users with root,
i am currently on Pixel Experience but i forgot to do an Titanium Backup of the stock camera app.
I still want to use the stock camera app (because of the Macro function) and i tried many versions from apkshare but none of them works.
So if you could do me a favor:
1) What is the exact version of the current Oneplus Camera for the 7T Pro?
2) If you have root and Titanium Backup - Could you do a backup of the stock app and upload it somewhere?
Thank you!
EDIT: It seems this one is extracted from the Oneplus 7T Pro

OnePlus Camera 6.4.58 (READ NOTES) (arm64-v8a) (Android 11+) APK Download by OnePlus Ltd. - APKMirror Free and safe Android APK downloads

But i can't install it.
" Note: Sideloading this APK may not work, so you may need root to install"
"The only way to install such APKs is with root, by copying them directly to the system partition and bypassing the typical sideloading flow "
Is this a safe thing to do or is it possible that the phone bootloops after this?
EDIT2: It seems that Macro mode is just switching to the ultrawide as you can do pretty good macro shots with the lens using gcam
