Question Dual band vs Tri band wifi 6E S23U vs S22U - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

On Gsmarena.com it is listed that S23 Ultra supports Triband WiFi while Dual band for S22 Ultra also both are WiFi 6E , I have both devices & can't find anny differences in wifi settings , also on Samsung website both have same wifi specs
Is it a typo on GSMARENA web site or what is the difference between dual band vs triband wifi 6e

I was also wondering the same.

The S23 Ultra is indeed Wifi 6E capable. But you will only notice when the device is connected to a 6E capable router or AP that routes the phone to 6GHz band.
You can also configure the S23Ultra as hotspot to (preferably) use the 6GHz band (see the settings to configure the hotspot - see screenshot)
Actual use of this band will depend on the capabilities connected devices.
Furthermore, a WiFi 6E capable device is able to use 2.4, 5 and 6GHz bands, therefore it is always triband. Your S23 Ultra will always connects to only one of these bands, as directed/controlled by the wifi-router or defined by the properties of the selected wifi network.

Your right, it also seems like.is region dependant. I don't have that option either but saw on hard rest YouTube channel that the option to select the bands is different than the one i have on the usa version. Perhaps is disabled by the carriers i have a t mobile one.

I have unlocked phone Middle East version & I don't have 6GHz wifi hotspot
I wonder if some devices have different Wifi-Modem

My U1 doesn't have 6GHz either. It's interesting because there is a toggle under Configure > Advanced that says "support wi-fi 6 standard" but it doesn't add that to the dropdown.

Ok I'm sure now it is software limitations
I changed CSC to EUX and OMG it worked , what a stupid limitation for a hardware feature that you paid for it

Wtf, my advanced options don't even look like that. I have an option to "enable WiFi 6" but can't select it in the bands pull down menu. Exactly like @EtherealRemnant
Canada 918W BTW.

I checked the official Samsung specification page for the S23 for a multitude of countries, including several in the Middle East (Saudi, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan).
In every market, Samsung advertise WiFi 6E and/or 6Ghz capability (6Ghz would by definition be WiFi 6E).
If your phone does not have 6Ghz, send it back. It does not conform to the published specifications

Samsung doesn't advertise 6GHz hotspot though. The device does have 6E (actually it has 7 but it's disabled) for wifi but that doesn't automatically mean it will extend to hotspot.

LG V30+ H930DS India Firmware? / JIO VOLTE not working

I bought LG V30+ H930DS in Singapore. The software version was V10d-SEA-XXX. It does have VOLTE option but does not work in India with JIO. After reading the forum I flashed to India firmware found in lg firmwares website. It has 4 versions listed so I tried two of them. After flashing I got this software version "V10i-GLOBAL-COM" which I am not sure is the right firmware but I see VOLTE option as attached in the screenshot. But still JIO VOLTE does not work! Can someone please help? This is really frustrating after doing so much research. I bought this phone after researching that it supports all bands that JIO requires (band 3, 5 and 40).

Why dont you go to a reliance store and get it checked. Maybe some settings issue. If it doesnt get solved even then. Then thats your luck.

I am also facing the same issue, not just with Jio but Idea and airtel as well.
I am unable to receive any incoming calls in GSM/WCDMA/LTE mode, after 1-2 hrs of standby. Data works fine but calls donot come through. The IVR says that the phone is switched off/out of network coverage area even though i have 4 bars of signal. I have into the hidden menu trying to activate volte feature which is by itself not present in settings. Still no effect. I have also changed sims, changed operators but the issue persists. Yes you can use internet while calling. But right now you can only receive calls on VoLTE. I'm checking if i can make the actual calling work for us.
I'll post a guide with all my findings soon. Stay Tuned. But there's a workaround if too. I'll cover everything in the final guide.

LG Wing 5G Network option activation

Thanks to paolotheking and this thread about an important secret code for the Velvet and other devices:
LG Velvet Hidden Menu code
Enjoy: #*462633*#900# Works with G900EM
forum.xda-developers.com
I could finally activate the 5G network capability of both my LG Velvet and LG Wing, European versions.
I have an Italian (ITC) genuine SIM unlocked Wing LM-F100EMW with latest Android 10 V10k-EEA-XX installed.
If you hit with the phone dialpad this sequence:
#*462633*#100#
it will lead you to a hidden menu where you can find all sort of information and tweaking options.
You have to choose "Field Test", then "Modem settings". You will have here many things you can change. Go to "RAT Selection", "SIM 1 Mode" (if you have only 1 SIM or if it's the one you want to go up to 5G speeds), it will give you many more options than the ones you find under the regular "Network settings".
So I then hit the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE/NR5G" option. I now have up to 5G automatic network selection!
Only issue is that under the regular Mobile Network settings, "Preferred network" states now "26" and if I want to see what other options you have, it only lists the options up to 4G preferred and it will go back to 4G maximum if you choose it. So you have to go through the hidden menu again to activate it.
I also tested that if you power off the phone, 5G maximum stays activated when you power on the phone again, good to know.
You may also try to tweak your 5G bands by selecting them in the corresponding menu "Band Selection" in the "Field Test", "Modem Settings" menu. Some of them might not really work though, as it might be hardware related depending on your model.
Hopefully it can help people finally being able to use the 5G network of their provider with the Wing, Velvet, and possibly other LG 5G phones like the V50(S) and V60. You just have to put your model number at the end of the secret code ...#900# for the Velvet, ...#510# for the V50S ...#100# for the Wing, aso, if I understood it good.
Enjoy!
I tried your suggestion above but field test is missing on my device (LM-F100N, unlocked SKT model). Any suggestions?

Interesting, this means that the carrier specific models, for Korea at least, don't offer the Field Test option. We have a discussion in a thread about the V50S eith the same issue (another secret code on this model for the hidden menu).
You can try 5457#*100# that works for the V50S to enter another menu where you can tweak frequency bands, preferred network, etc. The code might be different for the korean Wing / Velvet though. You might have to search the web or xda and try the different codes you find. Just remember to always use the LG dialpad to enter them, it won't work on the google telephone app for example, or at least it doesn't work on the V50S SKT that I have.
Do you have the up to 5G preferred option available under the Network settings? This option is available for the V50S but the problem is more about the 5G frequencies available on this model. It uses the n78 band that we eventually will have here in Europe, but it doesn't have the n28 5G band that is starting to be available in most of Europe. And no way to activate anything from the above mentioned hidden menu.

Code is right, but for the Verizon model probably not. Try to search the web/xda for secret codes on LG Verizon recent models. Usually the last number in the code is your phone model number (100 for the Wing). So change the last number of the code to 100 before trying the code on the wing. And use the genuine LG phone dialpad to enter the code!
Let us know if you find any useful code, it might help other Verizon users.

The code works, the 5g preferred option is also available. However, I still can't seem to get a 5g signal even though all networks in my country are using the n78 band. Is there a possibility that SKT has locked the 5g frequency, even though I could use LTE? This variant also has a dual sim tray but looks like it was disabled.
Has anyone tried flashing other regions firmware using edl mode?

You may also try to tweak your 5G bands by selecting them in the corresponding menu "Band Selection" in the "Field Test", "Modem Settings" menu. Some of them might not really work though, as it might be hardware related depending on your model.
Hopefully it can help people finally being able to use the 5G network of their provider with the Wing, Velvet, and possibly other LG 5G phones like the V50(S) and V60. You just have to put your model number at the end of the secret code ...#900# for the Velvet, ...#510# for the V50S ...#100# for the Wing, aso, if I understood it good.
Enjoy!

Hi Vuche,
When I first tried this, it worked perfectly and I was very happy. But recently I was wondering, hmm I've not seen 5g recently, and I realised that whenever I reboot the phone, it reverts to becoming 4g only
Do you have any tips on settings I could change to make it permanent? I'm not sure why it stays after reboot for you, but not for me.
Yes, I.'ve had the same thing happening on both Velvet and Wing, and I think it has started with one or the latest firmware update.
Apparently LG is following our threads here on XDA and really don't want us to have a good experience with their Last mobile phones...

I just dont understand why a phone marketed as 5g, has that option hidden away!!
Do you think there's anything in the hidden menu that could make the 5g function permanent? (I'm not sure how you discovered that menu in the first place?)
It might be that there's some faulty/unfinished hardware used in our phones. Or it's a financial issue, like a licence fee. Whatever the reason, they might unlock everything soon, ...or never!
I use a projector at home (not LG) and I won't buy their TV's anyway. But one answer to their policy could be not buying their other products anymore. They are bad at marketing anyway, so they might die by themselves. Too bad though, they have very creative engineers!

You have apparently an SKT (South Korea Telecom) model. It doesn't seem to offer you the possibility to activate other 5G bands than the n78. In Europe for example, n28 and n78 are usually used by network providers. The n28 is the most commonly used band as it's easy to upgrade from 4G LTE and it works on larger areas. n78 is mainly used in densely populated city as it works on a higher frequency.
But don't worry, 4G/4G+ is still fast enough until they develop the n78 band further out. At least compared to n28 speed.
Possibly unrelated but does this mean I can use an International AT&T unlocked Wing LM-F100VM on TMobile for example? I bought what was claimed to be network unlocked, "just throw in a SIM card and it'll work on any network" but entering the IMEI onto TMO's website and talking to their chat people tell me that basically 5G won't work :-/
International phone working on US networks?
So back in the day I used to bake my own ROM's and whatnot but I haven't done that kind of stuff in years. I finally upgraded from a Sprint SM-N900P Note 3 to an AT&T LM-F100VM LG Wing that I bought off eBay. Took the Wing to T-Mobile today and...

Question 5G not working

I got this oppo and 5G not working (not even an option to select in sim options), i tried 3 different sims, no 5G.
I have the Vivo X Fold and 5G working great.
What can be the reason?
Look for Force LTE in the Play Store, open and select Method 2, then for your band selection scroll to the bands starting with NR.
I don't believe the changes stick after a reboot and I'm not sure we will get 5G speeds but since I have Mint (T-Mobile towers), I selected a band package with NR/LTE/GSM in it. So far I've learned NR=5G, LTE=4G, GSM=2G and I need GSM band for my calls to come through. There are many bands to choose from so play around with it but this was the ONLY way I was able to get 5G to show up in the notification bar on this phone.
Hope this helps!
I've noticed that 5ghz Wi-Fi networks are not detected on my find n no matter what I do. Only 2.4ghz networks show up. Is that normal?

Question 5G network - post screenshot

Hello,
I have a Pixel 6 phone, Japanese version, under the sim card settings 5G network selection is not available, I am not sure if its my phone or some restrictions in place by Google, Pixel 6 is not officially launched but pixel 6a is in my country, can someone post the screenshot of your phone, how the 5G network selection option looks like?
If you're not seeing "5G recommended" under the preferred network type, you may have an old SIM that doesn't have 5G support. Yes, this is a thing.
Ask for a new SIM. If you still don't see 5G as an option your carrier may need to add the IMEI to their whitelist of approved phones.

Thanks, I will check with the service provider.
Earlier I thought that firmware doesn't support 5g because phone is not officially launched in my country.

Even I have the Japanese version and i am using it in India. I check the 5G compatibility using Airtel app and it's says software update is required from phone manufacturer
I don't think if i will get the software update that will enable 5G on India sim as phone is from different region. Any clues?

It's saying 5g software is not available.
I think its not he software, it could be Airtel app thinks that Pixel 6 is not not 5G ready.
I can confirm that I can see 5G recommended when I select NR only network via secret menu.

My bad, it seems to be software issue, yesterday my friend also couldn't get 5g on his iPhone 13 pro, not sure if Google has plans of releasing software updates...
Rumors' suggests that pixel 6a might be getting the 5G software update in December, no news if pixel 6 or 6 pro will as well.

Question VoLTE and Wifi-Calling on S23 Ultra

I got my S23 Ultra about two weeks and after day one update the location for Wifi-Calling changed.
To activate Wifi-Calling/VoWiFi I need to open telefon > settings > Wifi-Calling.

Before that it was right under VoLTE
The problem is no VoLTE logo, just Wifi-Call Logo (Telefonica/o2) but it's working, when I call someone I stay on 4G network.
That's how it needs to look like but in Asia they get just a HD logo
I know from xiaomi.eu o2 don't support VoLTE logo/icon on Xiaomi device's (with eu firmware you can see it).
What's the problem with Samsung?

VOLTE logo appears in three conditions
1. You are in a supported & covered area
2. Sometimes you have to buy new SIM card
3. Your device is added on your network supplier support list
It may appear in settings but your network hasn't added it on its support list
In my situation i was have to activate VoLTE and Wifi Calling sending the code to the carrier. PL here. Now i have icon VoLTE and wifi calling when available.
i think is carrier dependent -
I am on vodafoneUK and never had a volte icon despite using one
i get the wifi calling one tho

Telefonica/o2 sim card:
Xiaomi with stock firmware = no VoLTE logo
Xiaomi with xiaomi.eu firmware = VoLTE logo appears
S23 Ultra stock = no VoLTE logo
Same location, same sim card and same device
Not all carriers show the VoLTE icon even if VoLTE is active. My VoLTE works fine and I do not have an icon in Canada.

I'm having 2 sim cards and both support VoLTE , on my S22 ultra both are showing VoLTE icon but when transferring them to S23 only Sim 1 is showing VoLTE so S23U is still not supported on my second sim network , give it some time or call your service provider customer service
O2 UK since S20 Ultra, no VoLTE icon, only VoWiFi icon, second sim Smarty (3UK), no VoLTE icon, only VoWiFi icon.
When I turn on WiFi calling, you cannot use Bixby text calling
I just have a phone icon for WiFi calling
Is wifi calling a telcom service related feature, or is it enabled for certain regions. If so, which CSC would be best for me to flash to? I am using Indonesia's XID.

No it is telecom service related same as VoLTE
Once the network provider supports it , it shows on settings automatically

Ah okay thanks?
The easiest way to see if VoLTE is working:
Make a call whilst mobile data is on.
Does mobile data drop to 3G/H/G/E?
No? Cool you have working VoLTE.
If you answered yes. You do not. Waiting for provider or for Samsung.
Just because you don't have the logo doesn't mean you don't have it.
