Question Any gimbal working with Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra? - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

I wanted to buy DJI OSMO Mobile 6, but it seems that it lacks support even for S22 Ultra, so I suppose they will never make it work with S23 Ultra.
So what else can I buy?

See, it depends on what you really need, I actually am using that currently for my s23 ultra, but only because I just needed something with stabilisation and something to hold my phone for still shots. It's sad the hardware doesn't work directly with the camera app, they have their own which is pretty lackluster, however all the features worked related to their product in their app.

Can you specify what 'all the features worked related to their product in their app' means? I thought that S23 Ultra is not supported at all?
Is it possible to shoot 4k 60fps stabilized video?
Also is it possible to shoot photo (not video) panorama handheld?
Can you please post some video on which is visible how stable the phone is?
Thanks.

You misunderstood me, the features that they advertise do work, but most of it is because it's all done with their tripod + app. That's also the problem however, since their app is pretty lackluster, yes it'll do everything they said it can, but you have no control or options, for example I can use only 1080p 60fps recording. What I'm trying to say is that it can do all the stuff they say but you're only limited to what they offer in their app (Device support, yes it'll support any phone theoretically, however the options are limited to the support of the device), which isn't a lot, and you lose out all the stuff from the stock camera app. However if you just need a tripod that stabilises then it does that regardless of any further interaction, works out of box since it all happens on the tripod itself, however you'll need the app anyway to update the firmware of the tripod. I'll show you some photos from in the app when I get home from work.

Oh I see. I need a tripod with stabilization.
I think I'll buy it from Amazon to see how it works. I can return it if I don't like it.
I'd appreciate if you post some photos and videos.
Thanks.

Exactly what I did, bought it from there, decided that it fulfills the basic necessities and kept it, like you said you can always return it. In terms of stabilisation itself it's actually not too bad in my opinion, however this is my first one ever so I can't say anything more besides that. And yeah I will.

Lets talk HDR Apps

The one thing holding me back from flashing cm10 is the fact that I lose the TW camera. The HDR function in it works _so_ well.
I've tried a few free versions of various HDR apps and they all suck compared to the TW one.
Does anyone have experience with any of the ones on the market and can maybe share their settings?
HDR/MDR
I don't consider any mobile camera good. Any cheapest point-n-shoot will punch it in face. If u got SGS3 for camera - u r wrong.
I heard Photoshop can do HDR - so look into that. Also PlayMarket is a good source of information.
I disagree. The camera on this phone is more than adequate, and HDR is impressive

as for ps doing hdr, you need an hdr image first for ps to be able to manipulate the exposure and b/w settings.
what is PlayMarket? Something that reviews playstore apps?

Any recent cheap point in shoot will do better in terms of IQ.
Having said that even cell phone cameras vary in quality and if you use them then you'd be silly not to take that into account if it is important to you, even if you've got another camera that is better.... nothing wrong with buying the S3 for the camera. Not sure how that would be "wrong".
the camera was like 70% of my interest in getting the S3. I have a nikon d7000 DSLR and know that the cell camera will never be able to get close to that beast but sometimes I don't want to lug around my dslr and having a cell that can take great pictures is a huge plus especially if you don't want to carry a point and shoot and a cell phone at the same time.

I had previously used PRO HDR on the OG EVO, and it worked great. The EVO 3D didn't support HDR apps at all. The GS3 has a great built-in HDR option, and tried PRO HDR again - the native one is better!
So for now I'm sticking with the stock camera (I'm rooted, but running stock until CM10 has a semi-stable build..).

Get Camera360! I love this camera, its free and so many effects and you can actually choose between a couple different HDR modes.

The two best camera apps

http://www.camerafv5.com/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom&hl=en
These two apps are amazing if you want more control of your camera.
I have been a pro photographer for years and shoot with a pro quality Canon DSLR.
Lately I have almost never felt like dragging that camera around with me, but like most people these days I ALWAYS have my phone with me.
I used to carry a tiny point and shoot Canon with me along with my phone but that's a PITA also. None of my previous phones really thrilled me with their camera performance (including the two Rezounds I still have) but the camera in my N2 has been giving me super results with these two apps.
CameraZoom FX is a little easier to use as it doesn't have a bar of controls across the bottom of the screen that you need to keep your fingers away from. FV-5 does have more features however (the controls are basically a clone of a DSLR) and it has one feature that no other camera app has. It has the ability to save as a png which is a RAW file with no jpeg compression.
PNGs take longer to save/view and are bigger files but give a higher quality image than a compressed jpeg.
CameraZoom has a feature that I use occasionally that will take a picture with a voice command. Set it on that and then say smile and a few seconds later it shoots the image. Here is a pic I took with CameraZoom inside using available light. I printed an 8"x10" print from this and nobody can believe it came from a phone.

I did a bunch more testing this morning after another poster said that the anti-shake feature drastically reduced image quality.
I never used that feature, I learned years ago to hold a camera dead still myself but I was curious about that claim.
Turns out, the poster was exactly right. The images I took using as basically suck.
They are MUCH grainier than the exact same shot without that feature turned on.
I believe voice commands are available with s-voice and the stock camera.

I didn't realize that, I stumbled across the feature in CameraZoom while looking for something else.
There are so many cool options in these two apps that some are bound to duplicate the stock app features, but these two apps make all these options MUCH easier to get to and to use.
EDIT: I just looked through the options/settings in the stock TW camera app and didn't see any option for voice activation.
It may still be there and I overlooked it, but this just reinforces what I knew all along, all the options in these other apps are easily available with one fast click. You don't have to dig through menus of stuff trying to find or enable/disable a feature.

I use Camera FV-5 over the stock camera just because of the quality of pics it takes.
I too find the N2 camera to be quite good and I just purchased FV5 to see how far I can take it. I haven't spent very much time with it yet however.
One thing I love about my DSLR is that I can set separate buttons for focus and exposure. Any way to do that with FV5?

I agree 100%.
I'm not saying you can't take a good pic with the stock camera app, but it's much easier and a lot more fun using an app like FV-5.
It definitely beats the stock app quality wise if you save as a png file which is not even an option with the stock camera (I'm not sure why not)

Not exactly how you're saying, but you can lock both the AF and the exposure so you can recompose and keep the exposure or AF point.
If you read through all the options/help docs etc on the site I posted it will explain all the options pretty well actually.

This is another good app.
The preview screen is smaller, but it gives you access to all the settings from one screen.

You should change "60p" to "60 fps". I think you're confusing vertical resolution with fps.
Regardless, I'm glad we're talking about this. 30 fps video is dumb and objectively much worse than 60 fps. Google's priorities here are totally wrong.
Btw, video preview is running at around 5-10 fps, and app FCs when you start recording. That's on a non-rooted 6.0.1.
I totally agree, having 120/240 fps options but 1080p60 has been left out?
Thats really, REALLY stupid. Ive been wanting something like this since launch, too bad most people dont care for it - otherwise I'm sure google would have done it way earlier.

You are mistaken, google doesn't care for it either.
Which, reading their reply, is total BS.
Theyre focusing on making it stable? They've had more than enough time to do that, it's plenty stable - given their resources and the fact that they designed it on their own platform. Not to mention the existence of 120/240 fps making it painfully obvious that this is either laziness or an oversight (neither are excusable) for not having included a 60fps option, my S5 had that for gods sake, a phone that launched in April of '14 had this ability. Along with each successor to the Galaxy line, iphones, LG, I cant think of a flagship that can't do it?
Maybe I'm (we're?) in the minority in believing that it's pathetic to have a phone with the capabilities this one does, but lacks a function that very few - if any - new phones also lack that would really make the videos taken on the device a lot better. I'ts getting frustrating that Google, and the Nexus brand, are supposed to be top of the line and cutting edge - for the most part - but have, seemingly on purpose, chosen to exclude some of the key desirable components that customers want. Wireless charging (i know it was left out to make it thinner) but still... and these were two things I really hoped for, I think the 6P was a step in the wrong direction. Huawei really treated me like **** when they sent me the wrong 6P (the bastard model that excluded band 10 for some dumb reason) and refused to allow me to exchange or return it no matter what.
If Huawei makes the 2016 Nexus, I will gladly wash my hands of it, there's no way that company will ever get my business again.
I think you guys are mistaken here, its not like nexus is the only one without 1080p 60fps, out of all latest flagships only s7 can record 1080p 60fps, htc 10, lg g5, oneplus 3, mi 5 and so on also cant record 60fps, only 30
I've pushed modified blob and app source to git @ https://github.com/defcomk/c2Vid as stated I have no camera 2 device so I go by logcats .
Anyway the source is there added some log lines as from the crash I could not see what exactly caused the crash

From the leaked Qualcomm camera source code it looks like 60fps comes part of most libs and oems remove them for what reason I dunno but if you can find a device with same sensor and 60fps all that is needed is the registers for timmings and clocks and res entry but the later can be calculated.
There is hope for LG G5/One Plus 3/Mi5
HTC I tried but could only get it to 40fps in camera 1 mode Camera 2 mode the target fps range stuff maxed out at 30 perhaps when ae turned off in full manual it will work .in Camera 1 mode its another mess by htc where they broke qualcom video-hfr parameter in favour of their own video-mode which seems like a copy paste job from htc one m9 half then they broke it.
I patched hal as far as to allow fps range up to 120fps but the code that switches between the different sensor out put res mode was crippled.
I dunno if Camera2 was intended to even support 60p the only method I see is using HighSpeedCapture mode which only recognizes >=120 .
So in the blob pushed to git 1080p is set to max fps of 120 so it shows up in The high-speed mode .
In the root of the repo is text file showing imx377 configs

Oh yeah I know. I get where youre coming from for sure and I agree. It is a shame more dont do implement it. I dont think there should be hate directed towards them alone for it, many companies do not take advantage of the full hardware ability. I do wish they would implement it already though. Both the n6 and n6p and the capability but they dont take advantage of it. If they ever release a explanation as to why, id be all ears.

They kinda did release an explanation, dont remember word by word, but sounded something like they dont really care about 60fps, all they care about is stability, performance, bug free expirience and start up time of camera app. So i guess they suspect these things could get worse if 60fps was implemented. Oh and if samsung can do it, so should others, unless samsung has some kind of superior developers, of which i really doubt lol

I mean most people complain about slow start times of the camera on tge n6p anyway so I'd hate to see it slowed even further. While Samsung isn't exactly the best developers, they have a massive amount of devs I'm sure. But I still agree. If they can do it, Google and others should be able to also.
Just to clarify, my dislike for Huawei stems far beyond this issue. I will link to the thread (if anyone wants it) where I outline the month-long ordeal where they constantly lied to me about having a tech call me back, refunding my purchase, allowing me to return my 128GB 6P - all because they sent me the A2 style 6P, not the A1 style which everyone else on this continent got, and I purchased 4 other identical 6Ps in that same order, but one was a bastard model that lacked band 10, a band that is necessary for it to work for me on USCC (works on everyone else though) - Google NEVER sold the A2 style, only the A1 (which included band 10) and works perfectly fine. Of the 4 phones purchased, 3 were the A1 style, 1 was the A2 style, and this was never an option when ordered since...there was never more than 1 style that was publically known. They gave me a phone with missing hardware, refused to replace/return/rectify the situation in any form.
Anyway, THATS why I will never do business with them again. Their CS is absolute bull**** and they lie to their customers when they have legitimate issues that THEY caused.
The 60fps issue is on Google, it would be sweet to have, and I can't see any reasonable logic to not including it with the app on the phone? Thats all.
Cleaned up the bickering, let's all play nicely together please.
Hope you have a good day!

i still don't understand what the apk is supposed to do. does it modify the camera app? does it replace the camera app? does it introduce a new fps mode? did you modify the 120fps mode to be 60fps even though the option still says 120fps?

I do believe thats what he's saying, his mod would (if the hardware is capable of it) allow 1080p video to be shot at 120 fps. The app wouldnt change or have an additional option, what would happen is when you select 120fps it would default to 1080p rather than 720p.
Basically, if this works then he now knows how to correctly mod the file to function with the phone without crashing and bugging out, this is something that until now only LCamera was capable of, but the development of that has come to a grinding halt. If this works, then he knows how to add, remove, change values in the camera software to allow 1080p60, 1080p120, 4k60 and potentially more - although the bandwidth for 4k30 is quite high, if the phone is capable of 1080p120 then it theoretically is capable of a hell of a lot more than what BS options Google has in it now.
BTW, found THIS thread, where a google rep dances around others who want this, making **** up as to why this wasnt implemented in the first place and how they dont plan to add it.
I'll test this in just a sec and report back, need to update my rom anyway, so idc if it borks the camera.
EDIT:
Tried flashing the zip, that didnt work - extracted zip, will try installing the apk. Will advise.
EDIT 2:
App opens, video passthrough is laggy - very laggy, when i hit record, it closes the app, and now it wont open back up. :/

-That app was created for another device so the lag is expected and Yes defcomk is creating a software mod and will enable the FPS we deserve. some good progress but nothing solid yet. (patience)
-This won't bork your camera lol
-Regarding L Camera, it was capable but was more of a test being that it got the job done on the Nexus 5 but with lot's of sacrifices and such. hence the reason it was more of a way of just testing camera 2 api. The IMX377 sensor on our phone is more than capable but defcomk is still deep in testing.

well, it does this for me too which is unfortunate.
I don't really understand what's the problem? Can't someone just make a camera app that records at 120fps and just saves one frame and throws away the other? There you go 60fps.
Or you could edit the video yourself and remove every second frame?

Will the UMIDIGI F1 get the new camera APP from the UMIDIGI Power?

In the spot for the Umidigi power, at the 00:59 is possible to see a new foto application (image capture attached), with new Panorama, and Beauty modes.
I think the F1 Play has those modes too.

It doesn't. it has timelapse/video/photo/pro/bokeh/slow motion
The app on f1 play and seemingly the focus are pretty awful.

I just ordered mine. Going to get it next week. I've heard that they fixed some of the camera issues with the recent updates, I hope it doesn't suck too much. It's supposed to have a 12/48mp Samsung chip. If I don't like it I might get the S3 pro, Which has the Sony Chip.
It figures, the way my luck is I probably picked the one model that has something wrong with it. Haha.
The Umidigi power looks cool. What camera chip is it using?

As far as I'm aware, I'm on the latest 5/22 update. The focus is still driving me nuts. Seems to be stuck at wide open as opposed to focusing on where I tell it to.

I hope somebody creates a fully working gcam. Open Camera works a lot better than the stock app but doesn't have bokeh or slow etc. 3rd party apps are locked out from accessing the 2nd lense because of how Android handles stuff through the API.
Camera2.api is functional already on the F1 Play, so all we need to a modded gcam.
A new camera app arrives with the last firmware update! It has a Night mode, AI scenes detection, FaceCute, etc.

Question Low-quality or blurry front camera

Hi, I notice that whenever I use my front camera, especially on messager. the quality is so low or blurry. Is anyone experiencing this?
Me too its even worse than my old oneplus 6 , I'm very disappointed
Same, I don't know why the GT 2 Pro has a really bad front cam. My old Xiaomi Mi 9T can do better do. The front cam of the GT 2 Pro has a very smudgy look which I don't know if it's because of the software or something else.
I recently got the phone and notice this too when taking pictures of items with lettering. It is not as sharp. My old Huawei P10 was better.
Is there anything to do about this? Would installing GCam improve this?

Yes, get another phone. Selfie camera is below average - in every review you can read this.

Yes, it will improve, but not significantly. It makes sense especially for the main camera.
all software related, the front sensor is actually amazing. I get amazing results using third party apps.

Free you can use open camera, it supports 4k on front camera and has camera2api support, and some gamma curves that helps a lot. But if you want amazing quality you can get mcpro24fps that supports 4k, 10bit color depth, HDR HGL profile recording, lots of gamma curves and gamuts, you can get front camera footage out of it that will make anyone think you using a professional camera if you know how to use them properly. Other option is motioncam pro that records full RAW DNG frames witch is crazy hi quality but very hard to use and extremely heavy to deal with. So my recommendation is mcpro24fps, and for photos gcam off course. If you don't use gcam in any android device you just crazy.
This video is from the front camera with mcpro24fps:
I can take a shot on full blow clear sky and sun tomorrow if you want to see the great dinamic range you can get
Wow, that is from the selfie lens? Amazing!!
mcpro24fps is in the google play store correct?
Is 8.4 the latest GCam? If so where is the best place to download the apk?

Yep, thats selfie camera, as I said.....amazing sensor but terrible Realme software.
Yes, mcpro24fps is on play store
For gcam go on the telegram realme gt2 pro gcam group you can find everything there.
Attaching here an example of the front camera dinamic range with proper software, not the stock camera blow out **** they provide.

I modified the AGC cam. The original source is: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-BigKaka/f/dl9/
Modification:
- Changed package name so Realme GT2 Pro exposes all lenses
- Added settings option which pops up if you long click on app icon on your launcher
If the app is crashing enter the settings via long click on app icon and change the Device Interface for all lenses. E.g. to "Pixel 2 XL (Taimen)".
----
Added base config. You need to unzip file before use.

Yeah, try doing the same in the stock camera , you gonna look like a nuclear bomb exploded, I really never even bother opening the stock camera app, it makes me mad to see a good sensor wasted with this Realme software. Just the fact that front camera is capped at 1080 for no reason drives me crazy already.
I think the app is worth every penny. The developers are also amazing, just a while ago there was no support for 10bit HDR on the app for the gt2 pro, I asked about it on the official app telegram group and in one week they added support

You need to buy the calibration tool and calibrate it yourself, there is no other way to fix it that I know
