Question Lenovo Legion Y70 custom roms tested and working GSIs - Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2

Since the Lenovo Legion Y70 doesn't have it's own section, I'm posting this here.
The Legion Y70 unfortunately doesn't have a global rom, only CN. Luckily, it ships with the bootloader unlockable straight out of the box. I've tested several GSIs listed here, and they all work! This phone is great value considering the high end specs, so it's great to know we can install customs roms on it.
No hardware issues aside from adaptive brightness; doesn't work because the GSIs are missing the device overlay.
vndklite images do not boot! Just the ARM64-ab images boot (non-vndklite).
I've tested the following GSIs:
Lineage 20 (Andy Yan)
PHHusson Android 12.1
TrebleDroid 13
Pixel Experience
All working with some bugs. Namely SMS and phone calls randomly stop working!

Unfortunately no, there is no option for it in the GSI rom.

I know, but this is a very early version

I think this phone deserves its own section for easy communication because the foreign community about this phone is quite small. Also, I cannot find any guide or tips so would be great if someone put a tutorial to guide some newbies like me on how to install new ROM or other amazing stuff. Btw, I tried to unlock my Lenovo legion y70 by enabling OEM unlocking in the developer setting and trying to access fast boot but I saw that my phone state is still locked, not sure why. This phone is high value and has good specs so I'd love to see if the global community can grow bigger

checking the OEM unlocking option simply allows you to unlock the bootloader.
To actually unlock it, you need to do so via fastboot:
1. Restart the phone into Fastboot mode via the command: adb reboot fastboot. You should now be in fastbootd mode.
2. Type command: fastboot flashing unlock
3. Then type command: fastboot flash unlock_critical

Is there a way to create a section for this phone? I hope we can install stable roms to get the most out of the device

I've tried Lineage 20 (Andy Yan) & evolution X, both of them can't receive texts. Everything else works great.

Hi, what version of pixel experience plus are you using?
I looked on the official website and didn't find anything about the lenovo Y70...
Could you describe step by step how you installed this rom?

Hi, I am using the latest version of PE GSI rom here: https://github.com/ponces/treble_build_pe/releases
There is no official Custom ROM for Y70, however, we can use GSI Rom for any Treble compatible device.
These are my notes for step-by-step installation, do it at your own risk:
Install GSI Rom: Copy GSI rom (only use vanila arm64-ab version) file to “platform tools” folder and rename to “system”:
./fastboot reboot fastboot
Then, enter Fastbootd mode on phone (by pressing power off + Vol down)
./fastboot flash system system.img
./fastboot -w
./fastboot reboot

Is there anyone using GSI ROM on Y70 can receive SMS text?

I also have this issue. I'm able to send SMS text messages, but not receive them. This was an issue with Android 10 GSIs, thought it was fixed... Looks like it's still an issue.
I'm trying to find what the solution was for those who had this problem before on other phones.
I tried PHH Treble settings --> IMS features --> Install IMS APK for Qualcomm S+ vendor and request IMS network options but neither work.

after trying endless scenarios, I can conclude this issue is related to LTE.
I have to reset network and check if 3G is enabled instead of LTE, then rebooting. The flaws are that I cannot use LTE and this solution only work for 2nd sim slot

Does it work on legion 2 pro?

Can confirm receiving text messages is now working. I did the following (same fix as other phones on GSI)
I don't know what fixed it exactly, it's possible only 1 of the below actions fixed it:
1. put my sim card in tray 2 instead of 1
2. In settings --> PHH Treble settings --> IMS Features --> Create IMS APN
3. In settings --> PHH Treble settings --> IMS Features --> Install IMS APK. Click it, then install the downloaded APK
4. In settings --> PHH Treble settings --> IMS Features --> Check Request IMS Network
5. In settings --> Network and Internet --> SIMs --> Preferred network type: 3G
Reboot
After doing the above, SMS text messaging is now working both sending and receiving.
As mentioned, it's possible only 1 of the above settings fixed it but now that it's working, I don't want to change anything because I'm using it as my daily driver.

Your warranty may be voided ! I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications.
Issues:
- Back camera focus: image is blurred and color problem (waiting for new AOSP blobs from Sony)
- Minor bug with led while charging
- No FM radio
- Tell me what you find !
How to install
- Unlock your bootloader (you can save your TA partition before)
- Update your firmware to the last Marshmallow version (needed to update the bootloader, kernel will not boot if you use the Lollipop bootloader)
- Install AndroPlus kernel and TWRP
- Make a backup
- Push the rom's zip to the SD card (optionnaly with gapps)
- Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik cache
- Install the rom (and gapps if you want)
- Reboot
- Enjoy, and give me a feedback
Advice: You can use TWRP from Androplus before installing the rom. But it will not work with cyanogenmod/ResurrectionRemix kernel.
So, after installing the rom, you can use TWRP made for CM kernel (see the link bellow) and press vol+ at boot, or keep AndroPlus TWRP and use "fastboot boot boot.img", were boot.img is AndroPlus kernel.
Edit : my TWRP for CM seem to has a bug with touchscreem randomly not working, you can reboot the tablet with Power-Vol+ until the touchscreen works (it doesn't stop working after boot, it just works well or not at all), or use the fastboot method with AndroPlus Kernel.
I will solve this problem when I'll have the time.

Questions
- Please, avoid asking things like: how to flash this rom, what is fastboot, …
There is enough documentation on XDA and others websites. You also probably should not use this rom if you don’t know how to recover a bricked device with fastboot and flashtool.
- I’m not a professional devlopper, I don’t receive payement for this, so don’t ask for ETA, for make a rom for an other devices, …
- I only have a wifi only Z4 tablet, I make a LTE version, but since I don’t own this tablet it’s not possible for me to debug like on my wifi tablet.

No, I don't know about the Nexus 6P guy .
I hope to make a version for LTE one day, and for CyanogenMod too.
There is a problem with the cm rom I tried for the LTE version making it unusable. Since I don't have a LTE tablet, I'm waiting to have more informations from people with the SGP771 who tried this rom (I need at least a logcat, and I will see what I can do ).
This other big problem for the roms (AOSP, CM, RR, ...) is currently the camera. It's the same for almost all recent Sony devices, we're waiting new binaries from Sony to fix this. And there is the usb otg to fix too.
But the remaining seem to work pretty well

If we want to acheive the result, we should help andralex. I think our task is to install cm again and get logcat via adb.
But will it work om brokem cm? Is root access required for logcat?
Is there any plans to develop a customized stock version?

Good question! I think it don't need root, the logcat command worked for me as a simple user. The adb server should be already started on the tablet at the step when the rom crash, the only problem could be the secure debugging (you need to accept the computer's RSA key to have adb working). I don't know if the dialog will appeared, or if it will be possible to accept if the Trebuchet error stay on top.
It's possible to disable this security on build time, I will make that if it's not possible to accept the key.

Not for the moment. I'm focusing on the roms built from sources. Maybe later if it's not possible to get fully working cm/rr roms (e.g. camera never works), but I don't think so.
Well, hope never dies.

Thanks for creating the build for the SGP771!
I installed it a few hours ago on my device and, so far, seems stable and quite like it.
Please let me know if I can help you with the SGP771 testing (feedback, logs, etc). I'm very inexperienced in the build process but always willing to learn.

Thank your for testing .
Could you send me a logcat with the SIM card inserted to see where this problem come from ?
@alex009988, I checked your logcat, it seem that on CyanogenMod the tablet can connect to mobile network (at least I saw a HSPA/3G+ connection and the device got an ip address from this network before connecting to wifi), can you confirm ?
Hi. Sim card works well, it can make calls and go online. I confirm it.
Interesting. I think it's not a bug, but maybe feature of aosp Sony sourses. So, IMHO, doesn't need to be fixed.
Cm on my tyblet calls all networks by the same name.
A attached screenshots from spg771 and xiaomi redmi note 2. My operator is tele2 on both devices.
PS I haven't checked for LTE cuz it's a bit far from my home. But I guess it should work.

I generated a logcat with a SIM card inserted and started the logging as soon as the system was up.
During the 3 or 4 min captured in the log I also extracted and inserted the SIM tray immediately after, in order to check if any event was logged.
I will also go through the log to see if there is anything obvious.
Hope this helps!
Sorry, duplicate post.

How did you flash the ROM? With androplus recovery and factory reset(wipe)? Are you sure that sim card is not broken? With stock ROM, does it work? I think it's kinda impossible that one man have no problem with sim card and another have it with the same device.

I never got to try the SIM card slot while in stock ROM. Even though I have an LTE version it's not a feature I use.
Yes, I used TWRP: cleaned system, data and both cache partitions. Then had to side load the .zip file as I didn't have a micro SD card available. The installation was successful.
Prior to this I had installed an AOSP ROM compiled by me following Sony's instructions. However, as written before, all partitions were wiped before installing RR.
Just for my understanding: you have an SGP771 using this build of RR and your SIM card slot works?

Install custom ROM on Honor Note 10...

Hi guys,
Trying to get this device to get a little support here are my experiences that I would like to share so far.
I have the Honor Note 10 8/128. It's unlocked. It has TWRP and it is rooted.
Now I would like to install something else than EMUI, maybe even Pie.
So here is what I was able to find out :
- it is possible to install the OpenKirin Project : Resurrection Remix and OmniRom and boot them ; but the fingerprint scanner doesn't work to wake device in Resurrection Remix (could not test in Omni ROM : I'll do that later tonight) ;
- it is possible to boot from at least one custom ROM made for "berkeley" (Honor View 10). And there, everything works... But of course, really few customization. Also, I was able to find out that, as soon as I install an AOSP based ROM, rebooting into TWRP fails : TWRP remains stuck at "splash" screen...
So I think it's really close to being able to run a s custom AOSP based ROM on the Honor Note 10, but that would require someone with a little more dev skills than I have to look into that
Anyone with such skills around here ? It would be really great to be able to have the Honor Note 10 running Resurrection Remix (Oreo) or Havoc (Pie)...
Regards.

Sorry but you do not just flash ROMs for other phones that can go wrong
Hi guys,
Well, you're obviously not interested in this...
You're happy with EMUI, so be it...
Me, I don't really like it
I really would like AOSP based which I am accustomed to.
And despite what is written here, I would like to stress that :
- when Treble was announced by Google, Huawei/Honor praised themselves to offer fully compliant devices with Treble ;
- Honor View 10 and Honor Note 10 share the same hardware, excet for display... and thus I have been able to boot PixelExperience for berleley (Honor View 10) into Note 10...
But of course, if you'd ratehr stick to EMUI and would like me to stop sharing my thoughts here, I will do.
Regards.
I haven't unlock my phone yet, but flashing GSI via fastboot seems to be the safest way.
Custom ROMs from honor view 10 work well on this phone. Currently using pixel experience and it is running perfectly

Hi,
Yes, we share the same experience.
But you will notice that this channel is dead : no developer support for this device and custom ROM allergic people participating here
So basically : no interest from manufacturer ; no interest from developer ; no interest from users...
I switched to Xiaomi mi Max 3 : no real custom ROM there, but at least some interest from community and manufacturer who keeps updating the ROM.
Regards.

Please comment/advise.
Thanks in Advance.

Have we devised a work around for "Stuck at TWRP Splash"? Flashed Bliss from view 10 and wanted to look at Pixel Exp. but can not re-enter TWRP.
And to those of you running Pixel Exp. without issue, have you tried going back into TWRP?

Hi,
Can't say as I don't run the device anymore...
No interest from manufacturer.
No interest from developers.
No interest in development from the community here.
No interest for buyers.
My Honor Note 10 8/128 in Black is on an ad since about 40 days, and not a single reply even though I think I have positioned it fairly as a price
This is probably the best phone I've had, but the worst buy I've made for the aforementioned reasons...
Blame Honor. This was my first attempt. And will be the last. And I will of course spread the news all around me to as much people as I can.
It's funny : when I look around, my students who all had Honor or Huawei (apart from iPhones of course and of Samsung also) now more and more have OnePlus and Xiaomi devices...
No more Honor ; no more Huawei.
And they're absolutely not geeks by any means...
As a wild guess I'd say that they rely on geek friends who tell them not to buy Honor anymore.
And so I'll join that anti-Honor/Huawei league unless they change their policies about unlocking the bootloader.
And I am saying this because Huawei presented themselves as the best student in class for Treble support when it was announced.
Where are we now ?
Another promise not kept...
No support for Treble, no updates after 6 months device is released, no source code given, no unlocking of bootloader...
They can just use their device as suppositories.
Hope that will cure them from that closed source disease that is spreading more and more...
Regards.

Hi,
Sell those fairy tales to somebody else please...
5-6 updates in 3 months ? Probably. i've witnessed 2 updates.
And one of those forbids to change the default launcher... Is that an update or a severe regression ?
You can unlock the bootloader ?
Well, I've tried to boot the device in fastboot mode and to type "fastboot oem-unlock"... Guess what ? It did nothing...
To unlock this device, I had to go to an obscure website from probably a hacker/retailer that does it "grey", to pay 25 dollars and to wait for an unlock code...
All other phones I've had so far (Motorola, Sony, OnePlus, Xiaomi)... at worst you had to ask for an unlock code on the manufacturer's website and got it free !
Treble support ?
Come on... Did you even tried to install GSI to this device and had it working properly with no severe battery drain ?
Well, as you know from my other posts : I've tried it all... Even to flash Berkeley (Honor View 10) custom Rom's.
And when I was luck, the device booted...
But even then a lot of things weren't working properly : BT, display brightness...
And look at the facts :
- how much devs working on this device ? 0
- how many custom ROMs fro this device ? 0
- how many TWRP for this device ? 1 (unofficial)
- how many custom kernels for this device ? 0
- hon many posts about development for this device in the past week ? 2
So all in all how's support for this device from manufacturer or community ?
- community : 0
- manufacturer : -1 (for regressive releases of EMUI !).
Yopu can answer... You're the only one active on this channel... Truth is : no one wants this device anymore.
It made high promises and did not deliver...

My Answer:
You can see that you have no idea about the whole thing.
You have to buy a Unlock Code!I paid $ 22 and it was worth it!
HN10 is support Treble, but you have to wait for a Rom for this Device.
I buy with firmware 108,next update 120 next 123 next 125,next 132 next 132,next 151 and the latest 158!
If you have no idea, you should rather leave it!

Installing a Generic System Image (GSI) on Redmi 6A

Many of you know that Xiaomi Redmi 6A supports Project Treble. One of the benefits of Treble is that, it allows flashing Generic System Images (GSI) on any Treble-enabled device.
So, has anyone tried installing a GSI on this device?
Xioami Redmi 6A
An appliance on architecture 64.
Firmware and respectively boot, vendor -32.
Support Treble out of the box.
------------------------------------------
The problem with the native vendor is ARM A-only firmware installed,
but one and the same problem at all - that 8.1, that 9.0
Mobile does not work, incoming SMS.USSD codes, headphones!
------------------------------------------
Not solved in any way.
I understand it is necessary to rule VENDOR! But what?
Poke a nose, what to edit and how?
Donors with Helio A22 simply do not have!

Edit- I just figured out the models listed in this thread are not the one I have.
I may be a little slow, but does this mean we can root and run Android on our Idol 4s? Also, I'm not sure what my model number is. It's an unlocked idol 4s in the United States.
Thanks!

I can't find the ROMs anywhere. I tried to go back to stock, but recovery won't recognize SDcard (other phones do recognize it). I tried to sideload the stock zip file, fail.

Come to our group and we'll get you fixed up. You are correct, No roms are flashed unless you flash them. The toolkit only gets you setup for GSI roms, which you have to get. Native Android 9 works very well, so you have a couple differents choices.

[Curtana] Does flashing a custom ROM compel disabling force encryption?

First of all, I'm really sorry if this thread would turn out to be a dumb enquiry. I am new to intrinsically customising my phone and only have been using this device (Redmi Note 9S EEA Curtana, MIUI Global V11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM 4/64 GB) for 10 days. I've successfully installed root and TWRP on my phone after having thoroughly researched relevant information. The only thing is all my efforts regarding the removal of force encryption have so far failed. I'm inclined to install a custom ROM, e. g. LineageOs or Evolution X.
1. Is it a necessity to have encryption permanently disabled so that the flashing process proves viable? Currently, I'm only aware of a method which has its effect limited to the the period the phone is in recovery. It involves formatting data and then installing Magisk and thus I need to go through the set-up again. At the end of the operation, encryption is enabled again. I have no clue why. I've tested loads of no verity opt files, none of them worked in a proper way either.
2.Will installing a custom ROM eliminate root acces (since it performs a reinstallation targeting the entire system, let alone the patched boot image)?
3. In case something goes wrong, what's the correct procedure to return to the factory ROM? Is re-locking the bootloader a prerequisite? (See this guide https://c.mi.com/uk/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, for example. Notice how each of the stable MIUI releases there are marked with ★ next to them, meaning they're locked. I didn't quite grasp the message they were trying to convey with that explanation though.)
I'm conscious that's a lot to ask in a single thread, however, unlike myself, the majority of users here are supposedly tech enthusiast and probably have encountered similar difficulties on several occasions.
I hope that I've provided enough information and the thread has been named reasonably.
(Priority: detailed answers within a month would be great.)
Cheers,
Hsjaai
Just format data: twrp->wipe->format data write yes->reboot twrp and flash rom.
If you got error(red lignes reboot twrp and format again).
or
delete all your lockscreen security before flashing but to install a new rom you must format the data before.
Thanks for your quick response, honestly I didn't expect anyone to be this early to react.
As I've already mentioned, in TWRP there's a workaround for temporarily disabling encryption using the first method, the latter one doesn't seem to function as intended - that may be the case on newer devices, according to an article I've come across.
One last request. Could you please (briefly) answer my two other questions as well? How do I reinstall MIUI if something breaks down? Is the flashing apparatus provided by Xiaomi reliable?
I'll keep you updated on my progress,
Hsjaai

With Magisk app
I'm still unsure about something. Will the custom ROM be installed without hassle if I unroot Magisk at the beginning (meanwhile leaving the custom recovery intact, of course)? No guide seems to deem having root installed as a prerequisite. If you answer that, I'm really embarking on the flashing process.

Installing a custom rom (aosp or Miui) requires a data format (erases all data and creates a new partitions if necessary) which will remove root anyway, but sometimes root + twrp creates problems (can't mout the partitions) it is therefore to avoid this that I recommend you to unroot before.
In all cases (Aosp or custom Miui) magisk is installed last.
Which ROM do you want to install?
I'd like to install LineageOS first and see how compatible it is.

Hello guys ! For some days or weeks, I see a new codename : Miatoll. I looked and search but I don't find what device is it. Can you helo me ? I wonder if I can flash my phone with a Miatoll Rom

I may consider flashing CherishOS instead, seems neat and the monthly updates appeal to me.

Don't flash magisk right away, check if the playstore is certified.
If not delele your google account and root with the Magisk app.
Of course, if you absolutely want to root your device for other reasons, ignore that.
***certified on redmi note 7
The installation of these should only differ (on a particular device) in the ROM that's being flashed az a zip, right?
For instance, see this guide. Could that be deemed to be applicable to any custom ROM?

The installation of these should only differ (on a particular device) in the ROM that's being flashed az a zip, right?
For instance, see this guide. Could that be deemed to be applicable to any custom ROM?

Install the right TWRP
Be sure you have the right firmware.
If not flash it.
1)Twrp wipe format data write yes reboot twrp(if error reboot twrp and format again).
2)flash rom
3)reboot system
v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is a turkish rom(android 10)
V12.0.2.0.RJWMIXM is a global rom(android 11)Firmware base for AOSP
It is better to use Miflash and install TWrp after.(dont relock the bootloader).
Are you sure v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is the Turkish version? I thought it was EEA (the one tweaked for European countries). Installing the Global version seems alright, but why does the MIUI version has such a great effect on the outcome of the flashing?
Is that because both Cherish OS and the Global version are AOSP-based?
