Question Wifi and battery issues since Update - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

I updated my S23U to the latest version (I guess S918BXXU1AWC8) and ever since the update, WiFi is extremely slow and the battery drains more than before.
I was able to get 2 days before the update, now, even after barely touching the phone I need to recharge it every day...
Anyone else with these issues ?

It seems like a software issue, like app issue

I get better standby time after April update, like the graph is flat when i don't use the phone, sot little better because of that.

No problem here, maybe would be a software bug.
If persists, try to wipe all.

Check google play services, that's usually the culprit. Check the last 2 pages under the official battery thread and follow those steps. If not, then power off your device. power on holding the power button and volume up, go down to clear cache partian and clear it. Then go down to repair apps and click it and see if that helps.

Wipe cache from recovery, might help. I had drain after updating, but after restarting phone and clearing cache, it went back to normal.

[Q] Extremely wierd SGS3 Problem

Okay first of all, I've scoured not only XDA but even Google for an answer to this problem to no avail. So if anyone has/knows of any thread that has the answer, please kindly reply or notify me so we can have this thread removed.
Here goes,
I'm experiencing a very unique (afaik) problem with my Galaxy S3. This started a few months back, when the phone started getting random reboots/ freezes and terrible battery life on ANY ROM/Kernel. I've tried CM, SlimBean/Kat, and even Stock and nothing worked. Finally I figured maybe the battery was shot. So a few days ago I went and got a new battery, and that's when it got weird.
I used the latest SlimKat after replacing the battery and after powering on the device, EVERYTHING seems perfect. It's really fast and responsive, battery drain while screen is on is extremely acceptable, things worked like new again. UNTIL I switched off the display, after 5 mins, I pulled out the phone and it was switched off. At first I thought maybe the initial charge wore down so I charged the phone to full, then powered it on. Again, everything went smoothly BUT, after switching off the display for more than 1 minute, the phone shuts off automatically.
I switched to the latest stock 4.3 ROM and restored everything to factory settings and it seems to have helped at first. As usual, everything is fast and battery doesn't drain so much BUT, after putting the phone to sleep, it takes 5-10 seconds for the screen to wake after pressing the power button, and even if it wakes up, it becomes EXTREMELY laggy and often freezes requiring a reboot. As usual, after a fresh reboot, everything becomes awesome again until I have to turn the display off for more than a minute.
I've tried everything, even installing an app that prevents deep sleep but the problem persists. It improved a little after flashing stock rom and reverting everything back so I'm really hoping this isn't a hardware issue. Is there maybe something else I can try, settings/software-wise? The phone is almost 2 years old and is already out of warranty.
I'm hoping it's not the sleep of death thing because the phone isn't exactly bricked. I can still use it for as long as it doesnt have to go into deep sleep (I turn it off before putting in my pocket and turn it on again when I need to browse/use the camera which is all it's good for in its current state.)
Also, the symptoms don't really fit the usual "Sleep of Death/Brickbug" Symptoms I've read about.
Hey, I remember having a similar problem. I formatted both my internal sd and external sd. Haven't had any problems ever since. Hope this helps.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
Already tried that. I did full wipes/formats on all my installs. I even tried not having an external SD inserted for the Odin installs. I tried not installing any app on the phone and it still gets messed up after going to sleep. As fresh installed AOSP or Pure Stock ROM. Odin flashes no problem so I'm really hoping nothing hardware-wise is messed up. I had to re-flash PIT after getting a new battery though, could I have messed something up there that would lead to this?
There is an app for that deep sleep syndrome, it's on playstore its calles brick check or something like that, if you cant find just google it.
And I dont think that could be software problem, BUT depends on what apps you used, flashes you made.
Hope it hepls
Well, i don't think its deith break, but i had the same essue with unofficial 4.3 and then at official 4.3 it worked well,
it may be a break in the motherboard or something.. as u tried every rome avilable it couldn't be softwear thing..
the app for emmc firmware is called 'eMMC check', you can find it on playstore
edit: does your phone heat up? or battery? did your display ever turned blue when waking up from sleep?
it could be also a short with your display/motherboard or other connectors or battery connector... and the protection kicks in
if you're good with tools and phone is not under warranty, you could disassemble it and reassemble/reseat the connectors
or, could be the power button shorting, if you decide to open it, examine the power button
@Eibram did you ever undervolt or overclock when using custom kernels or roms? Because it could be hardware damage.
Also, do as they tell you above, check if you have the insane f01 emmc chip. I know it's a common missconception going around that since 4.1.2 the SDS got fixed, but it didn't really get fixed since it's a firmware problem in the emmc patched through software which just makes it highly unlikely to happen (but not impossible).
I did some minor undervolting way back before JB came out but not since over half a year ago. I did the eMMc check and yes, I do have the inane chip.
Just an update, I re-flashed a PIT file and a rescue firmware and it seems to have helped a bit. It was running fine for over 12 hours aside from a random reboot just now.
I'm observing the phone right now to see wether the reboot was just coincidental. I really wish this is just a software thing.
Okay one more update, 2 days in and I've only experienced the one random reboot. It's still sometimes slow when waking up, but something around 2-5 secs sore not 5-15 seconds slow. I'm thinking that must be due to touchwiz bloat.

Battery drain

I've had a problem with my phone since day one (beging of November). I've tryed reading up for tips here, tryed alot of diffrent thing, plus hard reset, soft reset, repair in Sony bridge, fabric reset, runing the phone in safemode ect. Nothing seems to work. I use the phone normal, only some calls and texts somethimes, camera, and scrolling social media. But still the bayttery last just a half day, full charged in the morning and empty before bed time.
Does anyone have any more tips? Anyone think Marshmellow will help? Really reluctant going back to the store and them sending in for repair, being without a up-to-date phone for weeks and most likely problem not solved when geting it back and then doing this for 4 times before they'll replace it. (aldready done this every 3month or so with the Z1C og Z3C since spring 2014... *tiered*)

That's the lollipop radio active bug on latest .200 build I guess, I got similar case with you. Battery draining quick when not in use but I'm better than u, probably you got some other apps/services spending extra battery at background too.
Send back the phone every week won't help. Flash back .152 rom should be better but I think it will need Marshmellow to fix it ultimately.

For me it seems okey when not in use, unless theres a bug or something. F.ex the battery indicator is pretty much the same when I stop using it and when I pick it up again. And then it drains fast, f.ex scrolling down internet/facebook/instagram og whatever it drops 1% pr every 1min +/-.
And like explained, Ive tryed to run it in saftymode also, all my apps, settings ect gone, and pretty much still the same battery drain.
So unsure if marshmellow will fix this, or the store needs to repair it if thats possible, or the phone just needs to be replaced. Or maybe someone has another battery fix tip?

I understand now, you switched to safe mode to freeze background apps. I still believe that sd810 is quite power hungry when you real get used to it and some apps like facebook is usually resources hogging. But mine won't drop like 1% per min, there must be somethings wrong with you. It can be bad battery or charger in your phone damaged or the usb cable or wall charger which made your battery not actually full charged.

Hm... Yeah, it might be something like that. Been like that since day 1 =/
I originally bought one a week before, but it had the echo problem so since it was within 30days they just gave me a new. I think that one also had a bit of a battery problem, but cant remember if it was that bad. I really should have gone back before 30 on this one too, I was just so tiered of replacing and sending for repair. And I thought Marshmallow would be right around the corner or that some of the things I have tried might work.. But no..
But yeah, do think its more likely that it needs repair/replacement than that Marshmallow will solve it?
EDIT: It cant be the actual charger btw, I switch using an old Z3C charger, the one that follows and an another USB charger.
I face a similar problem. I doesn't have any solution :/
I gave up, and sent it in for service. Fingers crossed it helps and no more problems with anything after that.

I've used BetterBatteryStat and track what is causing wakelock. After limited them, my battery is a bit better now.
Sent it in for service also. I hope they will send me back a fully working phone. This is my first try with Sony care on 3 sony phones !
Sooo, the service report says that they have installed newest software and fabric reset the phone, tested it and dont see the same problem that I do.. That was a bummer, since the problem is deff there (I have same settings, apps, widgets ect as I have had on several z1c og and z3c. But battery have been better on all of them, 3days when they are new, and 1-2 days later. This z5c has been at approx 1/2 day since day one... ). And i have tried fabric reset, soft reset, hard reset, repair in bridge and saftymode. Hope it just magically works when I get it back..

My drain strangely slowed down after flashing generic nordic over Norwegian Telenor branding. Can't really explain it since the branding is very subtle.

N9 Marshmellow / Nougat Battery Problems

Hey everyone. i've had my nexus 9 for a long time now but every now and then i get a few issues with the battery for some reason and i cant find a solution that works tbh.
Right now i'm running android nougat 7.0 and the thing has been great so far but just today i realized that the battery had been draining while i was asleep.
This has been happening before android N as well, on marshmellow. at one point i even had to roll back an OTA update because my battery would drain while the tablet was idle over the course of only 4 hours.
So.. after i rolled back to the more stable version of marshmellow, that stopped happening.
but yea. now i have a similar problem on android N. i just dont understand why this is happening and its super frustrating. before i installed android N i wiped my entire tablet completely clean before i flashed it.
i knowww, its kind of a first world problem. it doesnt happen all the time but when it does its super annoying.
does anyone know what i can do to prevent this from happening? i have set it to disable wifi when screen is off so.. its not downloading or updating apps or anything.. and disabled double tap to wake.. the tablet is basically just lying still on a table all night so dont understand how it can be draining the battery at all.
thanks
sorry, since im new here i cant actually post an image yet or a link to the image.. but basically, android system and android OS is taking up huge chunks of the battery and if i look at graph i can see that my tablet was
"awake" for multiple hours even though the screen was off while i was asleep.
you could try better battery stats, there's a thread here at xda for it, see what's going on with it. I haven't noticed so far but it's only been a day. You may wanna just let it go for a few days and let the system settle, let your cache build, etc....and if you're rooted there's kernels available the you could try out and make some adjustments depending on how you use your tab. Good luck :good:

Thanks for the reply. im gonna consider if betterbatterystats if it doesnt stop draining within a day or two. i need my tablet to function properly by monday.
Last night the exact same thing happened. although this was was even worse i think. theres a tiny little snippet of "screen on" time in the battery data menu. and then it shows the long bar of " awake" throughout the entire night. and apparently this is because of android system and android OS.
it literally drained from 91 % to 36 % over the course of the night... completely unbelievable.
Try disabling all account synching, turning all location settings off, and restarting in Safe Mode. This will limit your device to just the OS and gapps. If you're still getting the battery drain, it's most likely a gapps issue. Unfortunately, I don't know an effective way to remove and replace the built-in gapps in the stock rom.

I've been running marshmallow since day 1 and 7.0 developer preview since day 1 as well. I am typically getting ~4 & 1/2 hours of screen on time with ~30% battery left (not rooted, nothing). If the Google apps aren't the problem, the problem may be with the battery itself where it itself is faulty and needs replacing. A good thing with replacing the battery is that it's fairly easy to do unless you accidentally ripped out the camera with it. If you were to rip out the camera by removing the back cover, then that would definitely be a problem. Memory leak in any of your non-Google apps?
Hey everyone. i think i might have found the reason why my battery is draining sometimes. lately it's been doing fine as it's rather easy to fix.
My theory is that if you put yiur tablet with the screen facing down on a table or something, it may trigger the touch input, even with the screen being off. So it's using some battery cus it thinks you're touching the screen so it has to be ready since.. if someone is touching the screen they would usually turn the device on.. but idk.
it just seems as though the battery drains whenever i put it with screen facing down.

Hey, there is a possibility that there is a 3rd party (non pre-installed) app that has been causing your N9 not to sleep. This is easy to test for. Just boot your Nexus 9 into safe mode the next time you are going to set it down for a while. This will disable all 3rd party apps. If it was a 3rd party app that was waking your device and draining battery, safe mode should prevent it from doing so. The hard part after that is determining which app is the culprit. Trial and error is the only method, uninstalling 3rd party apps one by one until the problem is fixed.
To boot into safe mode, hit your power button, then touch and hold the power off prompt on your screen. You will then be prompted to restart in safe mode.

FYI - Custom ROMs/Kernels allow you to disable Double Tap To Wake /Swip To Wake. So, if this problem really bothers you, that's one way to fix it.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Essential Phone's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
7.1.1 Nougant 10 hours sleep mode 2% battery drain how can it get much better than this? Wifi & cellular on with bluetooth off.
hello,
PH1 phone is having problem to hold charge.
I hardly use the phone but lately battery is not able to keep the charge.
I deleted atleast 20 apps that were recently installed and still did not see any improvement.
I turned off notifications from almost all apps (except for very important apps).
Screen timeout is using standard setting.
Any ideas???

If reset to factory doesn't work, then for sure it's battery issue.

Could well be the battery, or possibly hardware (so don't let them reseal phone until new battery proven to last), though before getting it changed I'd reflash the Essential stock factory firmware from here as you do not know it's history,

(Or from the XDA thread with all the stock images, if in the future this link no longer works)

Days ago I reflashed to Android 10, January patch, and calibrated the battery and now in 1 hour spends about 8%, either without data or with data.
I don't know why, but the top of the phone is always warm, and before isn't.
For now I prefer no open the essential at risk to crash the display panel.
Thanks!
Got this reply from Essential some time ago (before they went belly up) and it helped me:
here are some common ways that the battery can drain more quickly: Things like signal strength of your cellular connection (more power is needed to maintain a weak connection), how often apps wake up to check for new data (social media apps are the biggest hit), screen brightness (huge impact) and how often the screen is used, and other active connections (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC), can all impact how long the device can be used before needing a charge.
If this issue just started in the last few weeks, I would recommend reviewing any third-party apps that you might have downloaded/updated when the issue first started and try uninstalling them temporarily if possible, as that would be a common reason for sudden battery drain.
You can also put the device into Safe Mode to limit running apps to just base software for testing. This would help isolate the issue to rule out any third-party app issues causing the drain and narrow down where the problem might be.
To put the device into Safe Mode:
- Press and hold the Power Button
- On the screen, tap and hold Power Off
- Confirm you want to Reboot to Safe Mode by selecting OK
Once in Safe Mode, you can observe the device and see if the same battery drain is noticed. If you are not seeing the same drain in Safe Mode, a third-party app would be the cause. Once testing is complete, you can reboot the device with the power button as you normally would to bring it out of Safe Mode.
Once out of safe mode, test to see if the issue persists for at least a day.
If the issue persists, I would suggest the following:
- Turn "Off" battery saver if "On" and charge your device to 100%
- Use the device as normally until it reaches 25%
- Take the following screenshots:
Visit Settings > Battery and capture the entire page (you may need to scroll down and take several screenshots to capture everything)
In the same menu, tap the 3 dots icon on the top right corner
Tap Battery Usage and capture the entire page (you may need to scroll down and take several screenshots to capture everything)
You can toggle airplane mode off, bringing back mobile functionality while in Safe Mode. The next step here would be to run the aforementioned battery tests.

Did you restore app data after reset?
Which android version are you on? Latest stock?
All apps crashing? Or just one or two?
System apps OK?
If you have reset 5x and still have issue, guess you should reflash the stock ROM.
(Side note: Today my phone lost a lot of power very quickly on standy, 20% in about 3hrs, only app showing as using battery was Google Play services, showing only 1%( strangely?) with nothing else showing when including system apps. Have just rebooted, will see if it continues, think Google Play updated yesterday (Beta ver). Though don't suppose our issues are related)

Check you haven't got malware like a crypto miner (run good anti virus and look at what processes are running under developer options)
Reflash stock ROM
Change battery (as per my post above)

Personally I think that is a hardware issue, I try everything but install Android 9 or lower. But now the phone has the boot loader locked and I can't remember all steps to make the downgrade

Though don't suppose our issues are related)

me too in using battery, normally doesn't appears nothing.
Change battery will helps.
3rd party battery cost about SGD 25 usually come along with the tool to open the phone
Glue/tape to stick back the LCD to the phone $1 - $2
If you mess up like me breaking the LCD you need to spend another SGD 25- 40 on the screen.
Hairdryer blow against the LCD to soften the glue, use the suction cup to remove LCD do remove with care there's cable attached to the phone at the back of the LCD and you might accidentally splitting the LCD films, remove all the screws cable(shortest screws) four corners of the plate(medium screws) near the middle(longest screw), remove the plate from the right side because left side is slotted into the frame of the phone, remove two screw to remove the cover that support the battery ribbon, slowly/carefully remove the battery that was stick on the phone start from the side slowly pull up or you also can use hairdryer to soften the glue/tape, use the tape given by the seller to stick the battery to the phone and just put back everything.
*Do remember to put back the black rubber that is on the front camera*
Pardon me for my bad English. ?

Redmi Note 4x Battery Issue

Hello all,
I have a Redmi Note 4x which I'm using it since January 2018. I have the latest MIUI V10.2.3.0 installed. It was working just fine so far.
For the last 3 days, I'm facing a problem. I've noticed that the phone is getting hot and the battery is draining down very fast when it is connected to the internet.
I searched the internet and found a youtube video which shows that this could be an issue with Duo app update. I didn't update Duo app recently but I uninstall the update anyway. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. I have also removed several google app's updates but the problem still exists.
I've used Simple System Monitor to see resource uses. And found that if my device is connected to the internet then its always downloading and uploading data continuously and there's always some disk writing going on. If I try to install something then its showing pending for a long time. Overall the phone becomes very slow.
I thought it could be some virus or malware. So I installed Kaspersky Internet Security for Android and scanned my device and it could not find any virus or malware.
I was thinking to do a factory reset but I read that it might not solve the problem
Now I don't know what I should do. Can anyone please help me what I can do to solve this problem.
Thank you
I'll also have almost similar problems like you, I tried all the methods that I've found but nothing has been working. My phone always feels hot even when I turn it off, battery draining like crazy and I need to change it 4 or 5 times a day, so for the last tries I change a battery and you know what it worked. Now my phone was working normally again no more heating and drained issues.

So you are saying if I change my battery then it might work? In my case, if it is not connected to the internet, then everything is fine, the phone is not hot, the battery is normal, and the phone is fast. So I'm not sure
