Question Lightroom Free Trial for Expert RAW - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

I have tried several times to set up the free 60-day trial for Lightroom Premium from my S23Ultra (the only way, it seems, to be able to use Expert RAW) and it will not go through ('Galaxy Store cannot complete purchase' message). The free trial is the only option, as going straight to the £3.79/month option is not clickable. All the credit card details are confirmed as correct, etc. Is the trial no longer working/supported? If not, how else can I use Expert RAW, please, as it doesn't have an export function to the phone's gallery, etc., and LR is the only option presented to use it?

you can use Google Snapseed (it is free) for editing photos on the phone, or just edit them on PC using something like RawTherapee or Darktable (both are free), no need to pay for Adobe products. however you do not need to subscibe to lightroom premium to use it, basic light and color adjustment controls are available for free. and if you are happy with the default heavy pocessing expert raw applies automatically, you do not need to edit photos at all (but that kinda defies the general purpose of shooting raw...)

Unfortunately the RAW files from the phone are DNG format and my computer (Mac Book Pro) doesn't recognise that format. Therefore I have to edit them on the phone somehow and convert them to PNG or JPG before copying them to the MBP. I tried Snapseed earlier and it does work but it's somewhat limited. Better than nothing though. Thanks.

you can use both darktable (https://www.darktable.org/install/) or rawtherapee (https://rawtherapee.com/downloads/) to edit them on mac, both programs are multi-platrofm and support macOS
but as I said, on the phone you can use Snapseed (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed) or do basic editing on lightroom even without premium features and export image as jpeg

I may be misunderstanding, but when you say "(the only way, it seems, to be able to use Expert RAW)", I'd just like to point out that I've been able to use Expert RAW without paying for the Lightroom app. I did install it (to play around), so I'm not sure if it needs to be installed for Expert RAW to work, but paying for it is not a "requirement" to use Expert RAW.
But of course, I did read that you want to modify the images, so if the free is not good enough, it seems @Daekin gave some good examples/options . I just wanted to point out for anyone else that to use Expert RAW the paid version of Lightroom is not required.

I meant that, as far as I could see, the only link to an editing option on the Expert RAW screen is the Lr one. It may be that others can be used but they weren't being presented to me on the Expert RAW screen - at the foot of the screen there are just three option icons - Lr, share and bin. I couldn't even get the free 60-day trial to purchase, even though my credit card details had been verified and accepted, the purchase (actually a free trial) would not go through, with several attempts. Very odd.

Gotcha.
Yeah all I see are those three icons as well. But that is odd that it wouldn't go through to start the trial...I wonder if it is just a temporary bug.

I just saw an article about this.
An issue with a top Galaxy S23 Ultra camera feature has been fixed | Digital Trends
If you tried to subscribe to Adobe Lightroom Premium on your Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but couldn't, Adobe has fixed the issue. Here's what was going on.
www.digitaltrends.com

well...in the case that Lightroom first run wizard when registering a new account has a bug, just go to adobe website and create a new account there. I have opened lightroom and since I logged in into existing account, the premium subscription was not offered for me as part of signin process, I can click on premium features and then I am greeted with the trial subscription. so to bypass registration, sign in using existing adobe account and do not create one from whithin lightroom app
about that icon..well, it is result of samsung - adobe partnership, which promotes lightroom as default editing app. however you can use any other app without problems, just it will be 2 clicks instead of one to open a taken photo there

[Q] Digital Signature

Alright Nookers, I got one for you all and haven't been able to find exactly what I needed.
I have a project coming up that is going to require a lot of signatures from people when I'm onsite. I would like to keep all this digital on the Nook rather than printing things out. Seems simple enough, and I can find several application that do this, but not to the extent that I would like.
This document is going to be in .doc format. What I have found with the digital signature applications is that they seem to only handle PDF. I've tried looking for Office Applications that allow ink write ups on the document, but haven't found anything yet (haven't paid for D2GO, Quickoffice doesn't have it as far as I've found).
I've thought of a few solutions and maybe you all can help out.
1) After I enter in the necessary information to the document, convert to PDF and use something like SIGNature e-sign. What would be good conversion tools to do such (preferrably ones that don't require to be online doing this).
2) An office app that allows ink mark ups, allowing them to sign.
3) A drawing app that allows someone to sign, then I can do a select all, copy over to the document and resize if necessary.
I'm probably making this way too hard on myself. I'd rather not have to re-create this other persons document as a text enter PDF if I can. Suggestions?

Why not just find a art program that lets you save the image? When I had to submit paperwork with digitalized signatures the easiest way was to capture the signitures as images and then put the images into the .doc. Though this method will require the signatories to trust you with their signature on a blank page.
The reason that the programs you find use pdf is that .doc is an editable format so it's similar to the problem of the option i mention. That's why those programs use pdfs when can be locked from editing.

[Q] What are best ways to record a screencast?

I am hoping to record some video tutorials for a mobile device user group at work (I work at a university) that would be directed toward the faculty and staff. I'd like to record the screen of an Android device as I walk through the different tutorials, but not by video camera. I'm thinking screencast, but not sure what the best software is to use...
I'm more comfortable recording everything on my computer using Camtasia. I have the Android SDK and got the emulator working, but I don't like that I'm limited in terms of apps (some tutorials may go through different apps). No market makes me feel limited.
I also tried AndroidScreencast (the java file that's floating around). That fails to load, I'll have to post the error code(s) later if someone actually wanted to tackle it.
I also tried [email protected] (droidcap) but the image is over exposed/washed out. I even tried saving a png to see if I could correct the image in Photoshop and found the png s mostly transparent, which is what is causing it to look washed out.
Then there's the Screencast app that I'm not sure I want to spend money on yet. So far the demo looks promising and I may end up going this rout instead, but are there any other options I'm missing? I'd actually prefer a root-free option as I may upgrade my phone and choose not to root when that time comes (I don't plan on leaving this job and expect this group to grow).
Is there even a way to just send a video signal out like mhl but directly over usb to a computer? I'm guessing you'd need a specific program to receive it, but I can day dream right?
Screencast is pretty good. It will be worth the money if you are gonna make a few videos. It produces a very nice video. Worth the $4...

Catch notes is going bye bye

So catch is being discontinued.. I need a legit solid comparable application, keep sometimes doesn't save photos.
Any personal experiences with evernote or spring pad?
I mainly use it to save photos I find on fb or Internet.
Thanks!

I am in a similar dilemma.
I don't like evernote, mainly because they are way too expensive (about 5$ a month is unreasonable in my opinion).
Evernote does not have a true offline option in the free version!
Here are the features that a good note app/service should have (catch notes had all these options):
Web interface and backup/synch (dropbox and web storage services do not count)
Offline editing and full access
Search everything (preferably as you type)
Categories/tags
Password options (preferred)
Reasonable export options is a must so you are not locked in to the app.
No monthly fees for above service (onetime fee only, or atleast a more reasonable month fee than 5$/month)
I looked briefly at the following apps/services and those are the issues I found which do not match my needs:
ColorNote: no web interface
MobisleNotes: web interface without search, no import/export option
Inkpad/notepad: no import/export option on web interface
Note Everything: no sync or export function
I figured I use catch regardless, and just use it for its internal storage options just sucks there aren't any real comparable services.

i have 3000+ notes and im looking at simplenote as a host, syncing with NValt on desktop, and there are a few android clients.
evernote is very reliable but too heavy. also i dont like that everything must have a title, and i you have to pay to store everything local. most of my notes are short and plaintext anyway.
however im having a lot of trouble importing them to simplenote. they have a tool but its super finicky and inconsistent. i think it will be easier to hack the notes into a client db, and then sync them up to simplenote. however this too is proving difficult because i want to keep the create and modify dates intact as well as the tags.
please let me know if anyone finds a soln.
in the meantime, id like to find the datafile on my phone. at the directory above i have hidden files turned on, but still see only media in ./media and one zero byte file in ./cache. where is the text data?
No luck yet

It appears the support pages are still up, abet slow at loading
Code:
http : / / support . catch . com/customer/portal/articles/1020076-i-can-t-see-my-notes-in-global-search-on-android
I can't see my notes in Global Search on Android
Last Updated: Apr 16, 2013 12:25PM PDT
We have made a decision to not allow for a Global Search based on security reasons. With the option to set a passcode on your notes, we feel that Global Search would navigate around this and violate the notes security.
For example: If you have a passcode set on your notes, yet we allowed for Global Search, any term you search for may return a result, thereby indicating that the searched for text is part of a note's content.

Im currently looking for a way around this as im trying to use dropbox (storage) and dropsync (to sync particular folders)
If this fails it appears ill have to learn how to create apps and create my own with the Catch API
Failing that decompiling and rebuilding it to my specs is prob the final method
lets hope it doesent come to that
As you can see I haven't been converted to the dark side of other apps yet
Me too. I'm still using catch but locally.

Did anyone actually get an email regarding this shutdown? I had a bunch of notes stored in AK notepad which are basically lost forever, and I don't have any emails from catch.com notifying me of the termination - I'm just finding out today.
Maybe they ended up in my spam :/

I imagine the particular posters have found answers to their problems seeing as this thread
dates from 2014 but I thought it might be worthwhile answering all the same as I ran in to the same niggles when I began using this app so if anyone searching these issues subsequently may find some worth from my reply.
First of all as a far as experience and knowledge is concerned. Firstly with cars;fixing, modifying, engine management tuning, obd2, diagnostics. Basically my auto knowledge is extremely wide and extensive from approx 35 years of obsession and getting stuck in an the deep end whereas my knowledge and experience of computers and smart phone tech is on much, much shakier ground
In fact, for those of my vintage. i.e late 30s,early 40s remember when we were kids. and programmable VCRs were the height of cutting edga technology. Well I'm like the way our parents and grand parents were then. i.e pretty much baffled by it and even following the instructions it was hit and miss whether you actually managed to record that film rhat was on at 4am lol.
So for the second issue brought up by the OP it doesn't matter whether you email yourself the log file or not (I found the few times i tried it that the file wouldn't attach and when it did the problem was the same anyway) you need Microsoft Office or any other type of office suite to view the files. On the pc i have Microsoft office but had to download an app to my phone to view. csv files. Again an office suite that not only displays. csv files but puts them into a spreadsheet format is required.
As for the first issue it's preferable in every way to view the site. on a pc because on the phone display the actual box to sign into is off screen and takes a little bit of zooming out and seaching to find, the same goes after you have signed in when another box appears with a list of the logs files recorded and the tab to choose it. This is where my lack of fundamental computer/web knowledge comes in. I can't tell you why it doesn't sit nicely inti an easily accessible mobile format but it doesn't. Once you've found the first sign in box/pop up it becomes simple, annoying but simple.
As for there being nothing after signing into the webview site successfully all I can assume is either you've no log files to view which you should have if it's all been set up correctly, including choosing which PIDs to send to logfile or the pop up/window where you click on your logfiles is right off screen and has to be looked for. Of course you don't get that problem if accessed using your desktop.

Video backup over data app

I'm looking for an app that can essentially do the same thing as Google Photos "Express" Backup or Facebook photo/video upload.
My issue is that I would like to be able to backup photos and videos right after I take them into drive. In order to conserve data and battery usage, I'd like to upload a lower quality version of the video and perhaps a lower quality version of photos too. That way, if I'm out all day and my phone gets lost/stolen/destroyed, I don't lose everything from that day and at least have a low quality version (which is better than nothing)
Facebook seems to be able to do this when you make a post with photos/videos attached. It seems to be able to compress them very quickly and upload them without using much data or battery. I think Whatsapp can do the same. Google Photos seems to have this feature in some countries. It has an "Express" quality which lets you upload a lower quality version. They say they are testing it before they make it available to everyone. It's been a year since they announced and still nothing.
Therefore, I'm asking the community here if anyone knows of an app I can use to do what I am looking for.
I have contemplated writing my own app, but I have no experience with the google drive interface or video/photo compression.
@eng3
If your device is rooted then install Root Explorer Pro.
IMHO Root Explorer Pro is one of the best file manager apps for users of rooted Android . It can access all the files involved in the Android OS, it consist of Google drive, Dropbox, sending files, network support, create and extract zip files, send files via Bluetooth, etc.pp.
No it is not rooted. Also, I don't think lossless compression is enough. Videos are already highly compressed so Zipping typically does not provide much savings. Lossy compression is the only way which requires use of a video codec.
I have found apps that can do the video compression using mediacodec. If I could find one that could automatically do it by monitoring a folder (my camera folder) and then place it in another folder, that would be enough. I already have a program that can auto sync the contents of a folder to google drive.
