Android\media\com.android.system showing private browser and apps that are not installed on the phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I would need a help to understand how the android webview works. I bought an Oppo Reno 7 for my wife from the hand and in the file directory I found folders for different apps used for private browsing and private communication as per attached images in directory Android\media\com.android.system. I've got the same phone and I don't have such files in mine. Is there a way to understand how to access those, if they were just opened/used in the past or is there any launcher installed that I need to access to get to those? All files seem to be empty.Or do I need to open Android studio to see if there is any other open source solution created and
what should I be looking for??

Thanks!

Obviously file / folder corpses, left on phone due to inproper deinstallation of apps.
Do a Factoty Reset. Better: install and run SD Maid Pro.

How to launch Gallery3D ?

I tried to install Gallery3D.apk (Froyo backport), but it kept saying "Application was not installed". Then suddenly while starting another program (contacts) the nexus-style gallery popped up anyway!
After checking with another device it seems Gallery3D comes with our 2.1 build, and can be seen under menu->settings->manage applications->list all, but there is no way to start it! It certainly does not show up in Launcher Pro on my device.
Google search on the device, which successfully finds other installed applications, does not find Gallery.
1) Any ideas on how to create a shortcut to the program, and how to make it take over for media scape?
2) Any ideas as to how the program started in that fluke moment, and what implications that might have (in terms of other potential exploits)?
The device is not home right now, so if somebody please could try:
Settings->applications->media scape->clear defaults and see if Gallery can take over as jpg-viewer

.swf file downloading without known instruction

I noticed a file was downloaded to my Samsung Galaxy S2 whilst the phone wasn't in use with the screen off and locked. I've attached a screenshot of the download to show the file name hoping it might mean something to someone.

}
The same file was downloaded again approximately ten minutes later, again without instruction.
I then ran AVG which didn't identify anything (the Settings Security Issue is having USB Debugging switched on)
I recently restored my applications using Titanium Back Up after flashing a new ROM.
Noticed the images were unavailable. They should be visible now.
maybe an app in background downloaded it? maybe you also restored the "malware" with your backup. try a different scanner, if nothing helps -> hard reset without ti backup

Absolutely not!
But don't ask me what they do. You can browse the .rc files as they are text.

Those files are you system. You mustn't do anything to them because if you do you can break your phone.
NO
These are all initialization files necessary for your phone to startup. They are a part of the boot image and the phone's startup process (init) parses these files to know what to start and how to start. They also are responsible for the initial files system setup and some hardware configuration as well.
Better not touch them.
I just wanted to know if they have something with init.d

Android's Rule of Thumb : DO NOT touch any files in "/" root

[REQ] Directory Lister Pro (or alternative) NAS auditor...

Hi Everyone,
(first off, not sure if this is the correct location to place this request, but didn't know where else it would fit on the board).
Wondered if any of you good folk know any software that works as amazingly well as it does on the PC platform, which is: Directory Lister Pro

So far in my hunt for an App that can access my QNAP NAS, scan the contents and create an audit of the files that are on there. Giving me the names, formats, resolutions, and so on for all the files that are on there and present it in a neat format.... Preferably to export into a list of either HTML or PDF....
Wondered if you guys knew of anything like this on the Android platform, or how hard it would be for someone to develop one....??
Many thanks, Lister

apktool says "built apk" but no file is created...

Hello
apktool was still working yesterday, then for some reason today it does not work anymore.
I still use the very same commands and the very same folders.
Moreover, it does not show any error, it says "built apk", but the apk file is not created anymore...

I also looked in "C:\Users\<my user name>\AppData\Local\Temp" but there is nothing related to it there.
Any idea ?

It didn't create a dist folder in source_apk?
No. I created it myself, to try, but it stayed empty.
Isn't there a 'source_apk/dist/source_apk.apk'?
