Question S23 ultra update or not - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

i bought s23 ultra . im on stock rom didnt update nothing yet . should i update system or not . Because usually when update system phone getting more worse battery life and peoples say right now april update drain battery . Will i miss something if i dont update phone ? Honestly i want update for better camera . Maybe there is way update camera only or what should i do

Definitely update, not battery drain or anything. They fixed important camera ''bugs''. However, some phones need some time (couple of days) after some updates to settle and learn usage to optimize the battery.

I would wait. Last thing you want is worse SOT. The cam update is part of the firmware.

I would say, update. I haven't noticed any worse battery life. The camera updates and security patches are well worth updating.

That is apple. You cannot think android devices are same just because apple slows down their devices on purpose after each update.

So maybe after updates worth make factory reset to comparasion.
I was skeptical from years but in example in my fold 2 from OneUi 3.1.1 after supdate via ota to 5.1 running faster without reset. Overall daylight use performance similar to S23U when I comapre side by side this devices.
But this case don't change my mind about updates and I want stay my S23U on the latest A13 more time after sharing A14 or maybe even A15.

Samsung will eventually force update no matter what. Might as well get it done and over with.

I still have s10+ as i give it to my son... Phone after all those OTA over the years is as fast as it was new and no issue with SoT, in fact sot is comparable to my 23 ultra... Maybe 1 h less... Still crazy good photos, everything works... I think all that updates issue is placebo and some legends who knows form where they come from...

Cya. I'll let you know how Ubuntu is, and you can sit behind from another 10" tablet and receive all of the future android updates 3 months behind, or a month later and half baked.
I wouldn't normally agree with a comment like above but as I have a nexus 10 I totally agree he he sorry

The Xperia Z or Samsung's version of the N10. The former is ultra-thin but only has a 6,000 mAh battery. It runs S4 Pro which is incredibly efficient so it's too early to say whether or not battery size will be an issue. The latter could be a good choice if in the version of the N10 Samsung sells directly they address the display and QC issues the N10's been experiencing. TW/JB on the Note 10.1 has been issue free unlike what people have been experiencing with AOSP 4.2 on the N10. MWC is next week and more info on the release of both tablets should be available.

I'm waiting to see what comes out at MWC. Id rather have a nexus just for the pure android but I have decided NOT to try another N10. I don't think they will fix the problems on this one. Sure some get 'good' ones but that seems rare. If nothing comparable comes out soon I will just wait until the next iteration of the nexus 10. But I will only buy in a retail(google) store. Never again Play Store.
My household does not have an ounce of apple (by choice) so ipad out of the question

Same here my friend. Never had a single issue with mine. Loving it.
The Nexus 10 was made for those who like to tinker. And as such, the reboots aren't as big a problem as they would be on other devices since they're easily solved by flashing a custom rom.
If you want something working flawless out of the box and dont see an issue with a walled garden, get an iPad. If you can put up with manufacture skins and a lack of speedy updates, get a Note 10.1. If you want to play russian roulette with your build quality, get a Transformer TF700. If you dont care about vast application support, get a Surface. If none of those sound appealing, give up on tablets.

Used to have reboots all the time on 4.2.1... been pretty solid since 4.2.2... Wi-Fi drops like crazy tho on stock. I feel like when I was on cm10.1 Wi-Fi was generally solid so I'm thinking it's a combo of software and my schools some wat dodgy Wi-Fi... My iPad never experienced Wi-Fi issues that my android devices have here on campus but... That's the only good thing about those

so everybody was experiencing reboots on 4.2.1,and nobody says its hardware. now 4.2.2 comes out and a few people reboots stop so NOW its a hardware problem? really?
definitely isnt apps, i basically run the same apps on my tablet that i run on my phone. phone has YET to reboot once. If an app is bad and causes a crash (i guess because of its code) it will crash on any device running the same android version right? because its an app problem and not hardware...
for example, list 5 android apps that are KNOWN without a doubt to cause a reboot
please dont say chrome because it only crashes on the nexus 10
in fact, list ONE bad **** app as you say that will cause a reboot across any android device...
P.S. i think that an app causing a device to reboot is still the fault of an OS. i mean why reboot the whole device? why not jus crash the faulty app instead?
Well, I guess I spoke too soon (or jinxed myself) but I got my first post-update reboot this morning. Once per week is still much better than at least one per day, but there's still work to do it seems.

Or, maybe it's the thing that the software communicates with to interact with hardware (drivers)?
Lets say I have a desktop. I run a 3D-intensive app on it. My computer locks up and reboots. The app can be coded to be 100% perfect, and the hardware can be 100% flawless, but if the driver is flawed, then it wouldn't matter how perfect the software and hardware is.

well cool but that still eliminates the app as being the culprit of reboots as a lot of people like to suggest
so thats still an OS problem and not hardware. which means useless to send in back because i have a "bad unit"

Verizon is horrible at releasing updates. But I'm unsure if I should be happy or anoyyed by it since our bootloader is locked
I would like an update to improve or fix things but I would also like to keep everything as is and hopefully get an exploit for what we have now

My guess, and everyone's reply is a guess....Verizon is waiting on L to be released. No point in them spending millions getting us 4.4.4 or w/e lil patches there are out there. Verizon is the slowest carrier out there to give updates, so hopefully you have patience.
I don't really care about official updates. I just want the bootloader to get unlocked. If that happens, the devs will keep us up to date, better than Verizon does.

I seem to remember a patch or two on the V G2 when it first came out. Sometimes these bug patches do more than the big updates which usually lead to their own issues...
What does E offer that you're so anxious to get?
My G3 works great, all the features I expect work.
Is there something you're missing that E will solve, or is this just a symptom of crack flashing?
Not hurting for an update currently, everything is fast and stable.
Only update I'm waiting for is Android L (5.0 / Lollipop) which id expect us to receive that update from Verizon by February at the earliest... sadly... Android L will bring a lot to the table and improve the overall experience, any other update is just small bugs or security fixes.

Which is something that wouldn't be high on my list of priorities, since the VZW G3 gets better radio signal than did my G2 and Galaxy Nexus before it. I can comfortably leave my phone on data and not be concerned the battery will be dead by the time I leave work. The metal superstructure around the building plays hell with 3G/4G switching.

I have the 3G/4G switching issues quite often with mine. I gave my wife my SGS4 and it is rock solid at the same locations.
I have a LG Tone headset that was solid on the SGS4, but it cuts in and out on the G3 when it is in my pants pocket.
I had a SGS3 a few years ago and got it when it first came out. It had similar issues. The cell reception became a lot more solid with the first radio update and the bluetooth improved an update or two later.
I'm having issues with heat/screen dim when using bluetooth/nav (GPS)/screen on in the car (late afternoon sun).
From reading it looks like it's improved in the later firmwares.

I would avoid updates if you want your bootloader unlocked. They are working on unlocking B, and if you take an update you may inadvertently prevent yourself from taking advantage of the hard work thats going into the current unlock method. Wait for an unlock, there are many who believe its defiantly going to happen.

If there is another update that isn't a major one (KK? fingers crossed) then it might require being updated to B148 first. Just a guess. It is a stretch to think we'll get another update to this phone though but we can't rule it out now that Huawei has come through with this minor update. It might be that since they mentioned a 4.4 KK update is coming when the phone came out that this update we just got would be a test run for the whole process. That's thinking optimistically. Realistically, I have no idea but would be happy if we continued to get updates (any at all) on our HAM2's.
Low light photography . Usually when you take a pic in low light it tends to darken the background too much . This update helps in that department . Plus , these updates provide an overall better stability to the system , the "misc. fixes" (No detailed description) they put at the end of the description should not be overlooked . They test the device thoroughly at their office and made the small needed changes . Even though you might not think it's a lot . Always better to stay updated . If it wasn't necessary nor improved the experience they would not have pushed the update out at all . My two cents . Update !
Well I was going to put in my 2 cents but you two said it all. If you made it all the way to the XDA website and was able to register and post something onto form your more then capable of upgrading to the new SYSTEM UPDATE. Plenty of people went ahead of you already and another thread was created for that. Everyone is having success with the B418 update.
The camera was rubbish in low light, and now it runs much smoother. Not iPhone or Android flagship smooth, but good enough.
And again, everyone else said pretty much all there is to say!

Why upgrade from any software? What was wrong with Android 4.1? it runs everything. The manufacturer of the phone put in the money to update and push out the update for a reason. Not spyware. My phone has the update and i just hit the 48 hour mark and I still have 18%
Is B148 really an "upgrade"? Have any impactful improvements been noted?
If I hadn't rooted my phone I would install the update. But considering the lengthy process due to my root, I'm going to wait for the KitKat update.

Pretty much what I'm thinking, too.
It's not that bad, plus you gain a lot of experience during the process!
I can't say I see any differences but I know I am up to date.

Update
I know I can't prove it but I just want it to be posted that before when I was on System Software B126 MightyText did not work when the screen was off. Even when I had it on protected apps and wifi on when the screen is off while charging. I had to keep my screen awake while I was using the app. Now after the update B148 I no longer have to do that. I was also having some problems with dropbox syncing when my phone is off and that is also fixed. So the "other fixes" in the system update. The stuff that they didn't mention is the reason why you should update. Actually since I have had the update my phone has been running very smooth. Everything just works when you click it.. Weirddd....

You're going to love the battery life. Also, you might like the minimalistic touch of Sony for Android UI, depending on your tastes.
Last thing is, simultaneous voice and data won't come until lollipop, which is still pretty soon I'm feeling. Not a big hassle if you're connected to Wi-Fi most of the time.

don't buy the verizon version if you are about customizing it
you see there is no development for it at all so far,
z3 standart versions have a little development already
My devel days are behind me, I dont have the time to keep up with the changes any more so the VZ version will do
The best time is to get it now since Verizon is selling it awfully low for. 99 cents on a new contract. Ever since moving onto this phone, I have no big desire as before to Dev this since everything is near perfect.
And for some reason, T-Mobile discontinued selling the Z3 today...
Wonder why Tmo dropped it, is it cause the z4 is coming out?

it's funny how people think about z4, that's in my opinion (even if i had the money) a bit weird, since the z3 isn't that old... no offence
Cant call Vzw till 10 est to see if the store has any:fingers-crossed:
Having the Z3v,I wouldn't trade it up for any other phone unless it would be a newer Xperia. My other choice would have been a Note 4, but having the freedom to not worry about water damage and incredible battery life is what I've been long awaited for this when the Z2 was introduced.
Ok, I got mine. So whats the best/fastest way to charge this phone?
So Im just rebuilding my apps and all I can say is Wow I really like the way this thing runs. Lollipop really Fugged up my S5, how has it been for you guys

There's only two ways to charge: Regular and wireless charging. Wireless charging isn't as fast as regular charging, but it saves the hassle from taking the port out and inserting the charger correctly. I recommend either the Choe Stadium wireless charger from Amazon or the Tylt Wireless Charger if you want to spend the extra cash.
And I very much agree. I'm glad I held off on getting the S5/M8. My experience with this phone is simply the best, and I just shake my head out how people overlook this regardless of development.

Yes, this phone has expandable storage up to 128 GB. It comes with a standard 32gb internal memory on board so it's still plentiful.
Good phone, but bad support... as in poor marketing, limited accessories and delayed Lollipop update.

I see I can still download the ROM from other websites, like here: https://android.cmphys.com/lineageos-mt2/
Is it advisable to upgrade, or should I stick with 5.1?
I feel like Im the last one at the party. Does anyone else still use the HAM2?

It was until around June. Then it started getting mad glitchy. I did end up flashing it to Lineage but then there were other problems. Battery life was still solid though. But in any case I had to trade it in for a 5g phone because my carrier wasn't going to support it any more starting in July. Anyways, it was a damn good phone that lasted me 7+ years. RIP Hami.
