[Q] Rooting the Fusion 2

Can anyone advise if the Huawei-U8665 (At&T Fusion 2) can be rooted? It has Android version 2.3.6. I tried with the easy OneSuperClick approach but didn't work-wouldn't recognize device. Thanks.

Did you ever figure out how to root?
Why don't you Google search other huawei devices and look for root kit running Gingerbread

I have, and I haven't been able to find anything. Superoneclick, z4root and unlock root only work for 2.3 and the Fusion 2 is running 2.3.6 and while trying to use those tools to root, it always hangs when trying to gain shell root.
Have to wait til somebody with skills makes a exploit for the fusion.

Patience is a virtue I supposed. I should've just bought a galaxy player I guess.
I seem to have acquired root, but I had to use fastboot to restore the rom. Sry i cant be more specific because tthis touchscreen took a hard fall..... post later thx -RFE

hi guys, here is a copy of the latest and greatest adb driver sets. with this driver set (folder called 'Driver' if you don't need adb).
I now HAVE ROOT on the phone by using fastboot and modifying the recovery image. I will post these once I strip it of all my personal info. Please try your own methods as well. I have attached a screenshot of what your (x86) device manager should look like once you correctly installed the drivers.
Best wishes & happy rooting

Here is the superuser binary along with a working adb packaged together. Just push the apk to the phone once you have the drivers installed.
I shouldn't have to spell it out for you how to apply this root kit.
Enjoy and don't abuse!

Rar Password?
Will you either release the rar password or post and non encrypted link please?
I thought I mentioned the password is xda-developers.com ... something easy to overlook if you are skimming the forums.
EDIT: attached recovery image

I got this phone for my daughter and wanted to root to make it seem like an ordinary phone to AT&T. That way they won't charge me for having a smart phone. Anyway, it doesn't seem a lot of folks are rooting the Fusion 2. How has yours behaved since you've rooted? Any problems?

Most likely your ROM is incompatible. If you are keen on Greenify, switch to a custom ROM and check.

Good plan. Greenify really isn't needed on your device/rom.
When you run ADB on the computer make sure the CMD (the black window) is running As Administrator.
It really is worth it to run these ADB commands on a Non-Rooted device, Greenify works great.
I have an OPPO K5 - China domestic version. When I tried to grant permission to GSAM I also had the same long error message. Then I discovered further down the Developer Options menu, there's a tab called "Disable Permission Monitoring", I switched it on and the adb command worked without the long error message. Not sure if MIUI has a similar tab though.

Hi.
Link is broken. Any tutorial copy to post here?
Regards.

Do not disable com.android.updater

I uninstalled com.android.updater, and fow a while everything was OK. Then today the battery was depleted, and after recharging the phone went into a bootloop. I had to install com.android.updater again, and after that everything went back to normal.
How did I find out it was com.android.updater? When in a bootloop, the Android system is actually already up and running. I was able to do adb logcat. There I saw that the system was looking for com.android.updater.
Code:
04-18 17:07:20.036 7445 7606 E AndroidRuntime: *** FATAL EXCEPTION IN SYSTEM PROCESS: Thread-4
04-18 17:07:20.036 7445 7606 E AndroidRuntime: java.lang.RuntimeException: System error: connot find system app : com.android.updater
Note that I'm using the original China Stable ROM version 10.4.4.0(PFKCNXM), all stock, locked bootloader, not rooted. Except for the customization that we can do without root: Install Google services etc, and disable/uninstall packages through ADB.
I didn't want to upgrade to MIUI 11 because I've seen reports of it being slow and draining battery, and I want the NFC functionality, so I had to stick with China ROM.
I can't find that in my Mi 9T Pro (using the latest xiaomi.eu 20.3.27)
When I search Update I find pl.zdunex25.updater, com.android.dynsystem and com.google.android.configupdater and have all 3 frozen with SDMaid.

Oh I'm using the China Stable ROM version 10.4.4.0(PFKCNXM), sorry for not mentioning it earlier. I think custom ROMs might be immune to this sort of thing. Thanks, I've updated the post with my ROM info.
I uninstalled com.android.updater, and i cant restore it(. Do you can help me? I use redmi 4 and firmware miui_HMNote4Global_V8.5.6.0.MBFMIED_6f4b63e4fd_6.0. How i can restore one app whitout reinstall all?(

Process of restoring generally depends on how did you 'uninstall' - please precisely describe how you did
I connect phone to computer with adb, click "debloater" and write com.android.updater in "custom" field, and click uninstall.

Still depending on how your debloater worked, try the folowing command(s):
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.updater
if it fails then:
adb shell pm enable com.android.updater
First make sure that adb connection is properly established:
adb devices
C:\adb_run\bin>adb devices
List of devices attached
NF8LHYVSNJZTGY7L recovery
C:\adb_run\bin>adb shell pm enable com.android.updater
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
/sbin/sh: pm: not found
C:\adb_run\bin>adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.updater
/sbin/sh: cmd: not found
C:\adb_run\bin>
Something wrong...

Something wrong/strange with your adb deamon
Btw, you used certain Debloater - you should better ask in the corresponding Debloater forum/thread how to un-do
Тhanks!

Would it be safe to disable in ADB, rather than uninstall?
Also, is it only responsible for OS updates, or does it handle things like updating the Google Play app?

C:\Users\Desktop\fastboot_adb(1.0.32)_071114_r21>adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.

I would suggest not touching android.updater. it gives bootloop if disabled or uninstalled
What should we remove then

[Fixed] Why i cant change resolution size & density Minimal ADB and Fastboot

hello to all,
as a test and for learnng i tried to change resolution and Minimal ADB and Fastboot density on an old (not rooted) LG G3 Mini. No problems, everything is okay.
Now i wanted to try the same on my new not rooted OPPO A94 5G, and it failed:
When i try to change the current original resoltuion (1080x2400) with the command:
adb shell wm size 1080x1440
i getting this error message:
Code:
Exception occurred while executing 'size':

Same happens on the try to change with "adb shell wm density".
Does that mean its not possible to change the resolution & density on this device? Or are there any other steps necessaryto get it?
strange, nobody here could say anything to that.
In the meantime i found the reason for this permission problem in an other forum´s helpful posting.
To fix it, enable ""Disable Permission Monitoring" (English) / "Erlaubnisüberwachung deaktivieren" in the developer options of the phone.
After that the size command works fine.
