you tube

yes the famous warning storage is full.
what is it with this? yeah i've deleted everything out of the youtube folder and ran cleanRAM, even soft reset and still get it. had it before but nomally working again by now. just what the hell you suppose to do.
while im on the subject of storage just suddenly getting the phone memory critical warnings too which appear random. dunno if its anything to do with it but youtube hasnt worked for week whereas this only started today.
why the hell do you get the storage space warning when you havent put anything new on your phone? i dont even touch the phone storage only use sd card anyway. cleanRAM always tells you youve saved x amount of space even if you run it twice?! i dont believe it because it doesnt help anyway.
It sounds a little bit like your under the impression that clean ram will free up storage space?
Clean ram will not free up any phone storage or clear your youtube cache...
Sorry if you already know this, it just sounds like that from reading your post.
If your phone memory is low then I would guess that youtube will throw up that warning even when the youtube folder is empty...
Do you reguarly clear things like the album and opera cache??
If not then I would try that and see how it goes....
Hope that helps...
magic, emptied the opera cache, cheers. just i have heard people say to run cleanram if youre having problems with it with youtube.
how do you empty the album cache?
Im not sure where it is im afraid, I use sktools to clear all that crap.....
Theres a free program called cleartemp, try searching for that.......
You might need to actually find the cache and add into the list of places to clean though...
the cache is in
mydevice/application data/htc/htc album
that should give you some room
great help thanks - emptying the opera cache did the trick

[Q] Randomly Low On Storage [SOLVED]

Hello all I have a rooted Aria with FR008.
Had it running smoothly for about a week until the last couple days.
Had a little over 100MB of space left on the phone, then legit 45 mins later( the phone standing idle) I randomly got the "Low On Space" message at the same time Android system usage went up to 80% + for about an hour or so and drained the battery to below 10% then the system usage went down to about 20%.
Any ideas on what causes this? It happened two days ago and I just started from scratch, and then it happened again today...getting kind of frustrating wiping the phone every other day.
I've used all the cache cleaners, task killers, and moved everything to the SD than can be.
I just find it strange that I saw that the phone had 133 MB left of space...legit hit the power button, then turned it on 45 mins later to find that warning...and having less then 8MB left on the phone.
Are there any programs that update automatically that dont go to the SD card?
Any help is appreciated...thank you!
Which programs do you have installed and do they run in the background?
Gmail, Dropbox, ebay, twitter, facebook, barcode, astro, apps2sd, wifi analyzer...plus the task killers and cache cleaners....
Had them installed for a few days running fine, and then like I said, in a matter of 45 mins, before I knew it, the go from 100+ MB to 9 MB internal storage.
This happened today, and the only program new I installed today was the Wifi Analyzer
Thanks.

Which task killer are you using? Is the cache cleaner something that runs automatically, too? What purpose does the Wifi Analyzer do and does it do any logging?
Using the Advanced Task Killer...I tried setting the cache cleaner both to manual and auto clean...no difference. The Wifi Analyzer doesnt do any logging, just detects the wifi signal stregnth. Either way this is the second time its happened, and the first time I didnt have the wifi analyzer.
Thanks.

Is this your first Android phone? Why are you running Advanced Task Killer? What was your reasoning for deciding you needed to run it? With the FR008 ROM and Froyo 2.2 using a task killer actually has a negative impact on the Aria. Android does a great job at managing the memory just fine. So try removing Advanced Task Killer and the cache cleaner and see if that solves your issue.
Ive uninstalled both of what you asked, restarted the phone a couple times and still have the message on the notification bar at the top
"Low on space"
"Phone storage space is getting low"

What else did you do to clean up the phone storage space? How much storage was available when you started?
Try going into clockwork and clearing cache. Also clear cache on market and browser.
Thanks for all the suggestions...I just ended up starting fresh again...tried all your suggestions and still had the low storage space warning...I'll just have to take it day by day and hope it doesnt happen for the third time!
I had the same problem until I enabled a2sd. You might want to check if it is enabled; it was not on my FR008 - i think you have to do it after the fact.
You can change the text message limit to automatically delete a thread after a certain amount is reached. You can also use Titanium Backup to uninstall stock apps that you don't use, or even freeze apps that you don't want running all the time.
Sent from my Aria using XDA
when you are starting fresh all of these times, are you doing a complete wipe?
i ran into an issue with low phone storage while running cm6 from all of my back and forth flashings. when i decided to start using cm7 nightlies, i wiped data/cache, formatted system partition, and upon installing the rom had plenty of space and haven't had any issues.
i'd try a complete and utter wipe of all your phones data/cache.
Little late, but its better to have this info here for others, found the issue...It was the Twitter application. It was syncing the contacts and with my 10K plus followers, it was chewing up my space

[Q] Cache constantly filling up after loading CM7.1

I loaded CM 7.1 stable on my Fascinate a couple months ago and sometime there after I started getting Force Closes all over the place.
Rebooting my phone only seemed to temporarily alleviate the issue for an hour or so, but shortly after it would start occurring again. It wasnt until I opened Touchdown that I found the potential cause as it reported I was "Low on space". I found this pretty odd seeing as I had several GBs free on both internal and SD storage.
After searching around a bit I believe it's my cache thats filling up. I ran Clear Cache in CWM it cleared up the issue for several days but eventually it starts occurring again.
First question: is clearing the Cache via CWM on regular intervals going to hurt anything?
Second (and more important) question: Is there any way to fix this without going with a different ROM?
Thanks a bunch in advance!!
I got it too!
I'm having the same issue, or I believe I am. You get a notification saying your low on space, and you can't receive any txtmsg's? Once you clear up the space the msg's come through fine.
I was using the stable for a long time.. and didn't get the error, and then I flashed the latest nightly and that's when I got the error.
I don't think the nightly is what caused the error, I actually believe it's pure coincidence. I've managed to keep in under control and can fix it when it happens.
I clear my cache as well, but I found out that the /data/data also needs some cleaning to get rid of the error. When I free some space in the /data/data I don't even need to touch my /cache at all.
I will post any other findings... info.. etc.. that I find.

your datadata folder is full most likely. You can try uninstalling some apps, or try running ng cache cleaner from market, or read this thread and try this tweak JT posted!
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5635-problems-with-datadata-causing-force-closes-for-google-apps/
A novice question Im sure, but whats the best/easiest way to see how much free space is available on these partitions?
use the disk usage app from market.

[Q] How to pull up low space application manager?

When the space gets low on the Evo, it pops up a message, asking if you want to clear space, allowing you clear cache, multiple remove apps at one time, or multiple move apps to the SD card at one time..
I've only been able to access that, when it comes up.
is there a way to manually bring that app up?
.. I'm low on space, and i dismissed it as i was doing something else.
i've tried searching google. but that didn't do much good. haha.

There is two ways to do this one is opening your app drawer and click menu you will see "remove app" click that and it ill automatically pop-up on a tab called "Downloaded" click on an app and it will give the screen that I believe you are looking for.
Another way to pull this up is go to your settings and click "Applications" and then click "Manage Applications" and it will take you to the same screen.
Sorry if this is not what you were looking for.
Thanks for trying. but thats the Android Application manager..
The App i'm talking about, wasn't on my EVO4G, so i'm sure it's an HTC App. Made to clear space easier.. it's almost like a low space wizard. haha. hmm.
Aha. Found it on the HTC Site.. Finally..
From the Home screen, press , and then tap Settings.
Tap SD & phone storage > Make more space.
On the Clean cache screen, choose whether to clear the cache of rarely used apps only or all apps.
On the Application storage screen:
Tap Move to SD card if there are apps that you can transfer to the storage card.
Tap Uninstall if there are apps you'd like to remove.
On the Mail & Messages storage screen:
Set fewer days of mails to download so that older mails will be removed from the storage automatically.
Lower the number of text and multimedia messages per conversation.
Tap Finish.
Sorry, but thanks I did not even know about that feature haha.

[Q] [SOLVED] Insufficient Storage Available (4.1.2) [Non-rooted S2]

First of all, I know this have been asked numerous times but I only got more confused of the threads that were aboout this...
My S2 has been showing the message "Insufficient storage available" for the past 8 or 9 months, but it has gotten worse since. At first I couldn't download any big apps, now I can't even download apps that are small (like 5mb). Anyway, I don't exactly know how it started but it probably has something to do with Android 4.x.x ... It has gotten really annoying because I needed to do some necessary updates on certain apps (WhatsApp for example) and I can't use them anymore because of this problem.
It's probably something with System Data. (yes I know I still have about 600mb of apps, but those are either apps I really need or apps that are on my phone as a default.) But as far as I know, I can't reach that System Data... It's just a chunk of (useless??) data that's just there. I don't really what it consists of, because the app (DiskUsage) I used to look into me storage won't let me open that map (as can be seen).
I WANTED TO SHOW A PICTURE HERE BUT I CAN'T SINCE I'M A NEW MEMBER BASICALLY, THE SITUATION IS LIKE THIS:
DATA [2015 MB]
- APPLICATIONS [574 MB]
- SYSTEM DATA [1397 MB]
- FREE SPACE [what's left. this ranges between ~90mb and ~10mb since I clear cache now and then]
I've been to a store with this problem and they basically said that there is nothing I can do... Is there really nothing I can do? I tried wiping my cache but that didn't do enough. I usually clear 90mb of cache when I do this once in every 3 days (after those 3 days I have about 5mb of space left), but like I said, this doesn't do enough.
Any suggestions? Sorry again as I know there are some threads already about this, but I looked into them and didn't really got a lot out of them...
Thanks in advance.
Did you try *#9900# on phone call menu?
From what I think, it's because of your application files. For example if you always use whatsapp(what I mean here is, if you keep on chatting), it'll store your chat messages into your phone memory which will 'eat' your memory bit by bit. And also, this is from what I've experienced, whenever you uninstalled an application, let's say TubeMate, you'll see tubemate's folder(s) is/are still inside your phone.
So what I'm trying to suggest here is, whenever you want to clear some space, try to delete some of your whatsapp chats or maybe other chat apps that stores chat messages if you don't want to uninstall other app. And when you want to uninstall an application, make sure you delete the app's folders inside your phone.
I'm don't know much about phone memory, so if I'm wrong about it, correct me
p/s: If you can't post link your image since you're new here, you can put your images as attachment.

Why haven't I thought of that 2 months ago... I thought that option was only for clearing my storage of calls and texts and since I don't call or text a whole lot, I thought it wouldn't be beneficial.
I've cleared over 1,2 GB by this. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!
