This ROM is for Developer Edition S4's on Verizon I545OYUEMK2 only!
This is created from the Developer Edition S4 I545OYUEMK2 (4.3) system image.
I have enjoyed this phone ever since I purchased it last September, but I have always felt that it was bogged down with too much bloatware and fluff. I had created this ROM for my own use, but I realized that it could benefit all users on I545OYUEMK2. The ROM is simply the system/app directory rooted (SuperSU), deodexed, zipaligned and debloated. It also contains Busybox, Android Terminal, Titanium Backup, Google Voice and JRummy's Root Browser. You will not find the boot image included nor the modems or radios (All of that can be found here). I have also included the ability within the ROM to apply the Samsung Galaxy S4 Volume Modification (i.e. Stock, Moderate and Very Loud) through Android Terminal (more on that later).
The amount of bloat that has been removed is incredible. Some of the files, for example, are as follows:

Now, about those sounds mods...
How to apply Sound Mods:
1. Open Android Terminal
2. Type, without quotes, 'su' (grant Root Access if asked)
3. Type the following:
- cd /system/volume
- Once in system/volume directory type any of these without quotes
'./stock.sh' to apply stock volume
'./moderate.sh' to apply moderate volume boost
'./loud.sh' to apply loud volume boost
4. In order for these changes to take effect you must reboot the phone. You can type, without quotes, 'reboot' within Android Terminal to reboot phone.
What are the installation instructions?
How to install:
1. Download/Transfer to either Internal or External Phone memory
2. Reboot to Custom Recovery (I personally use Philz Touch Recovery)
3. Make Nandroid Backup
4. Data/Factory Reset Phone
5. Install Zip
6. Reboot. Enjoy! - First boot will take between 1-3 minutes

I've been running this rom since yesterday acternoon .
so far the only issues with the rom are ones that are also in albe's thread.
Bluetooth volume is low. overall volume is somewhat low. there are some flash fixes but I tried them and I don't see much difference but it may be me flashing in flash fire as it doesn't always flash the same as safestrap. you can try to raise the bluetooth volume to the max but it always bounces back some to a lower volume.
GPS is hokey to get connected. you have to reboot the phone with it set to off and then turn it on and reboot the phone and then leave it on and it works just fine.
auto dimming. there is some weirdness with the ambient light sensor. I just manually adjust my brightness.
hotspot. some report only one user allowed and I found (as i stated) that once you turn it off, systemui force closes when you try to close all apps. after a reboot, all is well. I rarely use my hotspot anyway as I have one from work that i can waste the data on lol.
the s6 camera has some modes that force close the camera as they arent compatible but it works well for what I use it for. also, the flicker adjustment is set for european 50hz electricity as I could see some flicker from my lighting. I used wanams csc features expert to change it to 60hz but I havent had a chance to try it again to see if the flicker is gone. I'll test tonight in my bathroom where I saw flicker.
its really smooth and the added feature set are nice and the theme editor works awesome. actually makes a full dark phone possible.... well other than some deeper menus in settings that is. I think there are some menus that arent part of the non-S6 stuff that don't always get themed and still have a white background but for regular use it is way darker than when using a themed s4 rom and something like layers manager.
Overall its pretty darn good and battery life is pretty good. I didn't use the phone that much and I was down to 75% by the end of the workday. then I hammered it down to 50% by fiddling and rebooting a ton.

Nope. I already have one made just haven't had a chance to test it due to family stuff.
But I want to fix some of those issues if I can before i release it. I use my hotpot in front of Verizon wearing a free WiFi hotspot shirt on [emoji106] [emoji38] . I also use Bluetooth a ton and GPS a lot. Gonna try and fix that stuff if all possible. I am gonna put the stock MDK version on @klabit87 s page. So you can play with it. [emoji6] I'll have it to him by humpday. [emoji247] [emoji248] [emoji247] But will be untouched as well if that makes sense.

All of that will be changing. But it shouldn't be 5.0.1, I did MDK version and its 5.1.1 but of course its modified to run on our s4s. You should have all the issues ables Rom has atm. MDK version GPS is fixed , but the Other version will have that fixed as well. @klabit87 was just trying to get this up before he headed out.

i didn't notice any major issues (dont have youtube installed and i don't care about screen mirroring), plus GPS works for me.
also, i looked at the versions of the settings and systemui apps and they start with 5.0.2. so i have a hunch this is probably android 5.0.2 (since you have to have your settings and systemui linked to the version of android you're using), plus the xposed framework sdk21 zip worked. sdk21 = 5.0-5.0.2
sdk22 is android 5.1-5.1.1. plus build.prop reports sdk21. so it's probably android 5.0.2

Once I get a complete list from my tester I'll start fixing more stuff. Already know how to fix screen mirroring,gps, and backup restore for app data. And a couple mods......I may have a addiction[emoji16] I charge by the PM. Lol

(Additional disclaimer: I don't have the WiFi only tab, so I cannot test this ROM. It underwent the same process as the WiFi+Cellular model, which I do have, so it should be okay. If you encounter any issues, please let me know.)
Pre-requisites:
Enable Developer options by going to Settings -> About device -> Software info -> click 7 times on 'Build number'.
Now go to Settings -> Developer options -> Turn on 'OEM Unlock' & 'USB Debugging' if not already done so.
Caution: The stock ROM has Verifed Boot enabled with device-mapper-verity (dm-verity) kernel feature, which prevents a successful bootup if it detects any modification to the original setup. See details. This needs to be disabled if you need to install a custom recovery, or a custom ROM.
Download dm-verity disabler:

Download TWRP recovery:

Instructions - Install TWRP Recovery & flash DM-Verity disabler:
Transfer the downloaded file 'no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip' to SD card or OTG USB drive.
Download Odin 3.12.3 or any recent version.
Shutdown your tab.
Use Power+Volume Down+Home to reach the Download screen & then press Volume Up to confirm.
Use the AP section to flash the TWRP recovery.
After installing TWRP via Odin, uncheck auto reboot & manually go into TWRP to install the file 'no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip'
THEN, format /data, DON'T wipe it.
Booting to the stock ROM AFTER installing TWRP without doing this will show you a Verification failed warning, asking you to reset to factory defaults, since you basically overwrote Samsung's default recovery with TWRP, so it is cross with you.
Instructions - Install ROM:
Copy ROM to SD card or OTG USB drive (TWRP can have issues reading the internal storage)
Insert the SD card or OTG USB drive into the tab (very important!)
Press Power + Volume Up + Home & keep them pressed till you reach the TWRP splash screen
Swipe right to allow modification
Install 'no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip' from SD card or OTG USB drive
Format /data
From Advanced Wipe, wipe Dalvik/ART Cache, System, Internal Storage & Cache
Install the ROM, no need to wipe again since we already wiped & formatted in TWRP
Remember to remove the tick mark against reboot before clicking next, do NOT reboot yet!
Wipe Dalvik/ART cache (yes, again, after ROM install)
NOW, Reboot
Let the ROM boot, give it time
Install any extra applications you need
Bugs/Limitations & Workarounds:
Some APKs have been removed as part of the deknox/debloat, however, the appropriate system level modifications have not been touched in order to remain as close to stock as possible. So if you try to change a setting which relies on the removed feature, the appropriate app might force close, or it may continue to wait for the missing app. This is expected. Currently I have no plans to correct this behavior.
Software updates will not work.
Google Play Services might force close, so you will need to update it.
Samsung notes may force close out of the box. Just update it from Google Play Store. It will work after that. (zayi)
Accessibility service doesn't work on the debloated/lite ROM. Just use any third party keyboard like Swiftkey/Google Gboard etc & then enable the service for the application you desire. (zayi)

Extra recommendations for the tab:
Since SM-P585Y doesn't have a huge internal storage, just 16 GB, out of which, only ~9 GB is left for the user, you may want to use adoptable storage to use your SD card as internal storage. Go to this thread by ashyx to enable adoptable storage, whereby you have the option to convert your SD card as an internal storage unit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/how-to/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3507387. The only caveat is that it formats & converts the whole SD card for use as internal storage & you won't be able to pop the card out & use it on your PC to transfer data, you will need to transfer data via the USB cable just like you would for the internal storage.
Go to Developer options & turn off Windows, Transitions & Animator animations. It would visibly speed up your tab slightly by cutting down on the slight delay introduced by the animations.

I went too far in my debloating, which doesn't play nice with formatting /data, so I've added some stuff back & christened the new ROM v2. Uploading, should be up shortly. I've installed Xposed on it. Looks okay.
EDIT: New ROM v2 uploaded.
I don't use Xposed much, however, I was able to install:
Xposed framework ver 86.1
Xposed Installer ver 3.1
Modules: Xposed edge & Gravitybox (MarshMallow)
It seems to be behaving itself, don't see any errors in my rudimentary testing.

LOL, Merry Christmas, WiFi folks.
I don't think there's much difference between the WiFi & LTE models apart from the SIM module , so if you're feeling brave, you can try to install it.
Otherwise let me try to look up the WiFi ROM & cook t the same way. Your tab would have to be the guinea pig though.
By the way, which is the software version for P580? I saw this one online: P580KXU1APJ1 from November 2016. Any release after that?

Yes, that is an acknowledged bug.
However, I recently installed Xposed framework, Xposed installed & a couple of Xposed modules. Afterwords I again applied the dm-verity & no-ecryption zip and then again formatted data. Now Samsung Notes is back up running. Wondering, whether that has anything to do with Xposed, or the data format...
If you haven't setup a ton of apps, maybe you can just try to install the zip & format data to see if Samsung Notes works... However, it will mean starting from scratch again in terms of setting up your tab...

Sorry, I removed TTS in my haste to debloat the ROM, since I don't use it.
I guess if you do need it, maybe I can upload another version of the ROM with zero debloat, which doesn't have any apps removed. It would be same as stock in terms of apps, but you still have the other features.

I've created two ROMs for the WiFi model, based off the build P580ZSU1APJ3:
- Lite (heavily debloated, with almost all Samsung apps removed, Air Command removed too)
- Full (only Knox removed, all other apps remain as it is, Air Command works)
So now both 2016 S-Pen tab models are equally represented. No partiality any longer.

LOL, thanks. Its just selective debloat. Just more work, that's all.
These are APK's, but system apps, not user apps, so normal install like other apps may not work as intended, might be more messy, even if it works.
Air Command, the feature to pop up a selection of commands targeted towards the S Pen, is not a feature I find terribly useful. When I take out the S Pen, I use it for two purposes:
- Take handwritten notes with INKredible app.
- Annotate PDF's with Xodo.
Air Command just gets in the way, I have to dismiss it, causing one more S Pen click or back button key press. And keeps on showing the translucent button, which I can sometimes press inadvertently. Apart from Clock (I just like the white icon by Samsung, instead of horrible pale purple clock icon by Google), I just replace all the Samsung apps with the ones by Google. Hence the heavily debloated approach. I understand, Samsung Notes, with it OneNote like functionality might appeal to some people, the automatic prompt might appear cool too, even if its not for me.
Let me see what I can do, maybe a third, not-so-lite & not-so-full ROM. No ETA's though.

The tablet is my wifes and she uses this feature on the tab and her note - wouldn't be able to convince her to switch to a slimmed down rom without it

These are APK's, but system apps, not user apps, so normal install like other apps may not work as intended, might be more messy, even if it works.

Well, just for the record, I installed it on the 550T1 and the camera does not work, nor does the sound. If you can live without those, it's probably a decent ROM.
Serious problem
After flashing this rom, whenever I lower brightness to zero screen become black and then I have to factory reset my phone every time.
So please help me out.
Apparently not quite ready for daily driver status, lol

i am not able to flash the rom properly ...
after installation gets successful on restarting phone my phone screen gets blank after on5 name screen ....
then no further response...
can anyone provide me a solution or please tell me if there is any chance of flashing the rom via odin
I flashed the ROM as instructed. Although it took several minutes to get past the Samsung splash screen, it booted up to a very attractive UI. The camera and sound, however, do not work at all. You are aware the smartphones are supposed to have these features, no?
Are we missing something? Is there something else I should download?
Camera, Mic and Audio Error
I am unable to use any of the three.
How big is the file?
It seems all custom roms on any variant of the On5 are incapable of loudspeaker, mic, or camera control. Or in the least, until a future update. Instead of adding new features, why not make what we have work and develop from the ground up? Assistant is pointless if the mic refuses to work.
Im trying to log into snapchat on this rom but it doesnt appear to be working. Ive tried useing root cloak with xposed, but that didnt work, but now snapchat still wont work even without xposed. Does this ROM use supersu or something else?

well I could not wait and also install on the t580. Rom is quite fast and has the errors that Valera mentioned. is definitely a good port beyond that some things like the size corresponds to the galaxy a6 and does not suit tablet mode. I hope you can carry a tablet for more adaptation. Beyond everything, it's great and although it takes a few minutes, it pleases me a lot. Hopefully you can make the zip for t580 even if it's a lot of asking a lot of thanks!

Great job as usual. I haven't been able to find anything wrong. The tablet is more responsive with this Rom rather with the ones built from a lineage base. Do you think that one day we'll have a Dex launcher like the one from the tab s4?
It would be the biggest goal for this tablet.

Just curious, is it normal that the setup jumps all the way to sign in for samsung account? It jumps over wifi connections, license agreement, all of the google account setup.

Yes, it's a twrp backup because there's no complete firmware yet. By the way, I've found a bug where I can't change the launcher grid size for both home and apps. There is another one where in landscape mode, it is impossible to see all the apps from the launcher because you can't scroll or move to another page.
Both minor bugs solved by installing nova launcher.

Aaahhhh ok that explains it. Sure hope that when the official firmware is released that @Valera1978 will do a port of it for the T585/580

There’s another method that could help you set DPI density to even extreme low or high levels.

Finally exams are over. Flashed this from yesterday. Every thing's working. Installed google keyboard and pixel launcher. Everything working fine tested stock camera working. Great performance. Thanks for the ROM Valera.

Because this ROM is a port from a phone genius... It's a great base but later Dev might use TAB A 2019 or S4 dump to make it look tablet like as it looks on those models
