I unlocked my bootloader. As long as you are fine with your warranty being void I don't wee what it could hurt to do so. I am trying to figure out if different firmware can be installed also

Do you know the codename of this model to look for the firmware on the web since I still don't have a laptop... so I can see for myself

I really don't care about warranty.. I got it for $199. I'm going to use it without a case / screen protector, that's how I am!

Bricked moto Z - Cannot flash as device does not show in RSD Lite.

Hello Guys,
Hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have been given a Moto Z, but its currently in a weird state, boots but during setup it just hangs at the Wi-fi page.
Not a problem, i will just flash it, like my other Moto's using RSD lite.
But RSD is not picking up the device, I have installed the latest Moto drivers but still nothing is shown in RSD.
Is there something that I have missed or is there a different way to flash this phone ?

Thanks a lot,
This worked for me 100%, took a while to create the batch file but now my Moto z is fully working.

I have a Moto Z which is currently unusable as no firmware provides working Wifi, custom roms are bringing up errors and the like. Could you post the ROM you flashed yours with, and this batch file you are talking about so I can try that route?

I flashed Verizon firmware (my Moto Z is XT1650 -03 GRIFFIN and bootloader unlocked) from this link (https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmwar...ubsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip)
The bat file that works with this rom you can download here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0Re71K5j65rNWl4X3ptX0t0dms
You should unzip the rom and after unzip the second file inside rom's folder. Connect you device in flash mode and run servicefile.bat
Thanks for your response. It flashed correctly, but the Wifi issue is stil there. MAC address is valid, but it cannot find any networks that are floating through the air. I can just assume some kind of hardware defect, but since I unlocked the bootloader I cannot return it. **** happens.

I'm irritated... afaik the 1650-03 is Europe/global but not US. Verizon is clearly a US provider, so it might be wrong to use a stock ROM from a US provider for a non-US-phone?

Not sure why Canadians have a different version since the US is the same as ROW (except JP). Oh well... Anyhow, expect updates to start being pushed from the 6th all the way to the 14th. After that, nothing will happen till January. But judging from the average time it seems you belong to the week 2 category (10-14th).

flashing a sony phone is different to that of samsung. You have to backup drm key(ta partition) before you even unlock your bootloader, because without that you camera will become useless. I cant give you links but I am sure if you look around you will find them. After unlocking your bootloader it is very simple. Just flash a kernel and the rom that you want to.
The application we use for flashing kernels for sony phones is flashtool. Just make sure you have the right kernels and files before flashing.
Goodluck.
My bootloader is unlocked already I just can't find a rom that will work for an xz1 can you give me a hint on what exactly to search. There is no support for the xz1 and as for backing up the drm key where is that found?

Yup there isn't really much or any support at all for Sony phones nowadays. I didn't find any good custom ROMs so sorry I wouldn't be the right person to advice you. And as for DRM keys. Once you unlock it. It's gone. I heard they have introduced some fixes or something. I don't know.
Need help
Can you give me guidance on how to with out braking my phone
As soon as you said you had 8.1 on your phone I knew this would be an interesting read.. Not sure how long ago you. unlocked your BL but once you did it you lost your DRM keys, though if you had read a bit you would have realized that.. there is a DRM fix for oreo (8.0), Pie is debatable as the camera appears to work without one but a few other thing appears to be missing related to video and sound enhancements without a DRM fix.. Now as far as flashing go it's time for you to do your homework as there are a few guidelines for using Flashtool and Newsflasher.. no disrespect here but hunt them down and read through them before you do anything else to your phone..

Honor 9 hard-bricked after downgrading using HURUpdater

I recently picked up a Chinese variant (STF-AL10) Honor 9 and wen through the process of unlocking the bootloader, rooting and re-branding to the European variant (STF-L09). All good. Was able to flash the latest ROM (STF-L09C432B378) using HURUpdater. All good except the 2 capacitive keys not working. Saw that there was a potential fix with an updated Kernel for build 366. So.... I tried flashing STF-L09C432B366 with HURUpdater. The flash appeared to be successful (no error messages except for the a couple that are expected apparently). But the phone was dead right after I tried rebooting from TWRP. Absolutely none of the reboot button combinations work.
Has anyone experienced this before? The seller is promising to fix or replace the phone so I've sent it back. But I'm still interested in finding out what went wrong. Are there any pitfalls when downgrading -- I only went from 378 to 366. My impression was that HURUpdater was fairly reliable. I'm wondering if the the B666 ROM was corrupted. I'm still surprised that I ended up with a hard-bricked phone.
Thanks.

Hello, for me happend quite the same thing, I tried to downgrade my original STF-L09 from b378 to b368 with HURUpdater and right after rebooting from TWRP, where I chose reboot to recovery, the phone died. Because it is in warranty I sent it to service last week. So I'm looking forward to what they'll say to me

You can not lower the firmware version if your firmware is gt Turbo
Your phone will fall into the state of usb ser
You can restore it but it costs money
I reconstructed my phone from this brick myself

What was the first firmware with gt Turbo? b377? Previously I successfully downgrade from b376 to b368.
btw your post is very useful!
Yeah, that explains a lot. What's been the best fix so far for the capacitive buttons problem? The one route I've seen is flashing the kernel file in fastboot mode from one of the patched builds (366, etc.) Any other ways that work?

My phone came back from service center after bricking it during downgrading from b378 to b368 with changed motherboard. So unlocking the bootloader via HCU client was needed. Unlocking succeeded, so now I'm going to flash new treble ROMs.

A little info on your part may help here, ie. the model of your phone or your location as the Android 9 (Pie) has very limited release for the single sim and the dual sim is only slightly better.. There are a few ways to flash firmware a) Sony Flashtool or b) Newsflasher c) Adb, search the XDA a bit there are some excellent guides on how to use both... ( homework time)
Also you may want to mention what OS you have on your computer as installing drivers for adb, fastboot ect. vary for each, windows 7 and 8 are pretty basic but on 10 you will need to disable the signature verification before you can install the drivers and Linux is a whole other thing.. so give us some info.. read a bit and get back to us.

Ok thank you. I have been looking around and I have not yet found someone who has been successful in unlocking the bootloader on their Verizon Moto Edge+ in USA. I will keep searching.
Hope you find the solution to your problem.
Hmm, this looks promising. Just bought an unlocked S10 (Snapdragon) and will be returning it since it cannot be rooted. Thinking of grabbing the unlocked version of this phone to use on T mobile. It is the same price as what I paid for the S10, so I would only be out the $50 restocking fee. I need root, Adaway, and of course Viper4Android. As of right now, my old rooted Galaxy S4 with Viper4Android absolutely KILLS the S10 in the audio department.

Yes and yes, but there's an easier way.
When an OTA update arrives uninstall magisk (this is only temporary)
Install the OTA and make sure to not restart
Go back to magisk and install but select install to inactive slot (After OTA)
Now you can restart and you're done!
Here's the guide where I got this from
When I tried to restore the back up image for the uninstall step, it says "Stock backup does not exist". Where can I get a stock boot image? Does it have to be Racer xt2063-2 or can it be xt2063-3. This page has variants of xt2063-3, but the Google drives they're stored on have "reached their quotas" so you can't download the images. Those images being stored on a Google drive has me suspicious of motostockrom.com.
What are the variants about? That site not explaining that also makes me suspicious.
Edit: l found a stock boot image here. What is the name of the file Magisk needs to see and where do I put it?
