Question A look at the Fold weather app - Google Pixel Fold

Pretty much per the title; the link includes a pic of the new weather implementation. It's also in an embedded video at that link with a few other tidbits I hadn't seen before. It goes by fast, you have to be prepared to pause.
Here's a full look at the Google Weather redesign on Pixel Fold
We've been tracking the new Google Weather for the past two weeks, and our best look at the redesign is on a Pixel Fold...

Nope not yet. Looking forward to testing it too on both my nexus 7 and the galaxy tab 10.1.

Me too...it looks really promising.
ETA: Issue resolved. Looking forward to being a beta tester.
Started beta testing today. Their forum isn't up yet so there's no way to report comments/issues officially other than emailing them which I don't think will be their preferred method moving forward.
Expected limited widget support at the start given that the intent of the beta is to flush out fundamental bugs first and there are some for sure. Rotating the device while the app tray is up for example results in corrupted screen. My laggy Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb runs Chameleon faster than my Nexus 7 tablet does. On the Nexus 7 I'm unable to get the home button to bring back Chameleon. Etc.
Feature wise there's a long way to go too other than the obvious need for more widgets that will eventually come upon the release of their widget API. My laundry list of feature requests is growing including:
- Add ability to use custom wallpapers (ommited on purpose obviously to focus beta testing around main program and widgets)
- Add option to hide tile titles
- Email widget should display all messages, not just unread ones (if you read all your mail you're left with an empty widget with a humorous email ninja reference)
- RSS widget should display images too
- Weather widget should bring up weather animation or some form of forecast upon tapping it
- Buttons to left and right of the bottom dock waste too much space
- Bottom dock icons too large, margins should be adjusted to make bar thinner
- Gesture support sorely needed
- Should allow dedication of some tiles to the placement of application shortcuts, not just the dock
In terms of widget development hopefully at the very least they include in the final widgets for all of the stock google services like Youtube, Calendar, Drive, and Reader.

[Q] Weather Clock for Victoria (Aus, Not CA)

I have come from a HTC phone, and the Weather clock that HTC has in Sense is the best of them out there. Now the Samsung has…
Garbage
So I am looking at 3rd party options, and have found a few good ones, No they don’t have all the little features of the HTC one, but they cover the important basses (easy access to the alarm setup being the key one apart from displaying the weather and being small), well all But one.
I am in Victoria, Australia (GMT+11) and the Lock screen on the Galaxy syncs to the correct location, as do the little weather apps that come with the phone, but all the third party Weather clocks decide that Victoria mean Victoria Canada (GMT-8) now knowing that it is going to be cloudy with a top of 9c and a low of 5c in Canada might be a lot of fun… But it doesn’t help me here in Aus (29c & Sunny if you are interested)
Are there any Weather Clocks out there that hit a Data source that is aware of locations off the American Continent?
Took me one quick search on play to find this

Yes, which is a great weather app, but not a Clock with weather and the ability to jump into setting alarms directly
I use weatherzone.

LG Home and Calendar

Just got my G6 yesterday and so far liking it, although still getting used to it. Some things though just annoy me, and more so with the software, which I know I can just use alternative apps but it wouldn't have really been hard for LG to think about these things, see below:
Home UI
Swipe down to Notifications should be an option. I know you can have a nav bar shortcut for that, but come on.
The Smart Bulletin is not very smart. Has no integration for Weather, News, and Calendar events are only pulled from the LG Phone Calendar, not Google etc!
Calendar
No Month/Agenda split view in portrait mode, why not? Why have it landscape but not the other.
Colours
The default colours are not very nice. A dark flat shade. They should be more material like. I feel someone has just randomly picked them from the colour picker.
For the colours, you could try one of these themes:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g6/themes/mark-bencze-premium-theme-support-t3580199
I'm currently using the pixel 2 theme. These themes are well worth the money, they are very well done.
No matter what app or launcher you use there will be something that won't please everybody. There is no such thing as a perfect app, everything is compromise.
Use the app or launcher that suits you
Not much point in complaining about minor features of apps that you don't have to use...

Agenda like apps

The Planner Pro app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appxy.planner looks like a good substitute but the layout rendering seems buggy on the landscape layout of the Gemini.
I've yet to try it but for a long time on Android devices I have used Tiny Calendar
I've not had an major problems with it and my father gets on with it as well on his android mobile so I shall try it when I get mine. Hopefully it will work well enough

Nice layout for calendar views. But Psion Agenda also allowed incorporation of To Do items.
For ToDo things I tend to use Google Keep now. With the benefit of it synchronising across all my devices with that account connected.
Thanks for the recommendation of Tiny Calendar. This is the best app I've seen for replicating the two-week custom view I use for Google Calendar on the web, and the widgets aren't bad either. It took me a while to find the customisation options (you have to force rotate to portrait using the Gemini App Bar) but now it's set up to my liking it's great.
I stopped using to-do lists years ago when I switched from EPOC to iOS and couldn't find a way to integrate them into calendar apps in the way Psion Agenda did. I generally use all-day calendar entries instead, so Tiny Calendar fits my use pattern perfectly. Anyone with similar needs might like to check out Calendar Widget which among other options gives a very nice semi-transparent agenda list on the home screen that makes very efficient use of screen real estate.
I have high hopes for the official Gemini Agenda clone when it finally sees the light of day. One of the joys of Psion Agenda, aside from its fantastic integration of calendar and to-do functionality, was that absolutely everything could be done without using the touchscreen. Android on the Gemini makes touch functions much more responsive than the old resistive hardware and stylus, but I'd sooner have the keyboard shortcuts back.
If Gemini Agenda can replicate that behaviour I'll be overjoyed. Those early screenshots certainly looked promising.
I can also recommend Jorte. It has a great Daily and Weekly layout including To Dos. Works well in the landscape layout.
This is probably the best Agenda substitute. It's the aCalender+ and even has an annual calendar view:

Your favorite weather app/widget

Hey folks.
As the title implies, I would like to know what everyone's favorite weather app is. Yes Xda has an article occasionally on the front page that gives their opinion on the best weather app but I want to hear it from those who matter the most (all of us end users).
My favorite, since 2000 has always been WeatherBug but after earth networks sold the WeatherBug brand to xAd (now known as ground truth), something happened that left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Anyhow, I pretty much liked everything about WB except the ads (which I never noticed because of Adaway lol) but I'm a truck driver and I especially loved their radar. It was the best looking radar I had ever seen and what made it even better is I didn't have to buy the premium version to unlock radar.
I also liked the widget would show me my current temperature of the area I am driving through while I could have the temperature back home always displayed in the notification bar.
Anyhow, those are all of my favorite things about my former favorite app but I have been actively searching for months for a solid replacement. The things it must have are
1. Radar
2. Current conditions
3. 5-7 day forecast
Those are my 3 MUST haves. Also I'm not a fan of apps packed with ads and trackers or yearly subscriptions nor having to pay just to unlock radar and other options. By the way, I tried 1weather and its a beautiful app but its radar is lacking compared to WB.
So what's your favorite weather app and why? What makes it stand out?
My favorite weather application will always remain Overdrop, it doesn't have radar (which doesn't bother me personally), but I find it impossible to make a prettier weather application, really, test it and you'll see

Yessir I will check it out. Hey, if nothing else, if I like Overdrop, I could always use it and find myself another app with just radar.
