Question Best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro? - Motorola Edge 40 Pro / Moto X40 (China)

Hello guys, what is the best GCam port for the Motorola Edge 40 Pro? If there is one, where can I download it? Thank you in advance

FYI I tested a lot of GCams 8.8.224 (the latest version as of now) and the only cam that doesn't crash is the Shamim SGCAM_8.8.224.10_STABLE_V9FIX. I will keep it becauseyesterday I was at a live concert and the stock camera microphone is a total mess (every video that I made has the audio extremely distorted, while the instagram camera doesn't have this problem, but the video are ****ty).
There are a few problems tho:
1- it is extremely slow when you click every button
2- without touching any settings, pictures and videos are worst than the stock camera
Let me know if that version works for you, and if so, which setting do you use to improve the camera quality!

Tried what you recommended but that gcam had too many problem. 4k 60fps recording just hangs never actually enabling. I'm satisfied with the camera, just wasn't happy with the speed it takes photos.

Have you tried to record a concert with the stock camera? You would get a super distorted audio (with every other camera app i don't have this problem). For now I keep it just to record live concert, but I know it has a lot of problems unfortunately

I don't go to concerts lol. Everything I've filmed has been fine on my end audio wise, I work in a relatively loud environment and the mic holds up about as well as any other phone.

[APP] lgcamera <<discussion>>

lgcamera - Android app that can be installed from Market. It offers the possibility to take video recordings with customized options. This app works on Wildfire (tested on nightly CM7) and if messing around with the app settings a bit, it can take videos of a higher quality then the default camera app.
This thread has the aim to inform you about this wonderful app and to encourage you to test and post here your settings/configurations.
Thank you.
Ok downloaded it now installing...Testing later reply tomorrow
EDIT: Ok well first impressions: yay no border .
For recording...what settings its best? it's record but not playing after...
I use Vignette, it works great, it does photos and video all from a full screen with no borders. I love it. Give it a try lads!

is it any better than camera360 ultimate ?
I tried this app but didn't like it very much.... lags a lot and the camera quality isn't THAT much better

lgcamera surely can take better video recordings than default CM7 Camera app. (i specified it has been tested on CM7 nightly)
I'm aware that you were talking about cm7. Maybe the quality is better, but its still bad enough that I won't use it anyway (my fifth gen ipod nano comes handy here )
So I merely said that its of no use to me. (I find vignette far superior, although it lacks video recording)
this app is great for photo shooting but the zoom don't work on my phone

HTC Amaze - Recorded Audio Quality

Hello, new here. I wanted to get some suggestions on what to do for this situation.
I've been currently searching for a new phone & I've found it, the Amaze of course. I finished my research and found this to be the perfect phone for me, though there is one issue I want to know about.
The Audio Quality on this phone is down right terrible compared to many phones out there, & I don't understand if this is a software problem or a hardware problem.
I need to know if this issue can be or is already solved, because out of the many videos I've seen its the same issue with the Audio in the video, just sad for such a highend phone. Has anyone fixed this or is someone working on it? Thanks
Do you have a case on your phone? If you do then does it have the holes around the camera where the holes are?
I just recorded my daughters school play with ky phone and it sounds great. Then again I'm using a modded Camera.apk and using a Custom Rom. But the Quality of my recordings were nice.

I've noticed that audio is passable on normal recordings. I happen to be a race fan, and IndyCar and F1 sound terrible on this phone. They overpower the mic and the audio is clipped or something, becuase I get alot of loud scratchy noise. I'm on stock, BTW.
Thanks for replying
@Double0EK - I've still yet to buy the phone, I'm just making sure before I buy that it can be fixed. I heard that this issue could be resolved by using a Custom ROM, I wish I could post youtube links right away to show you what I mean. Its like a hollow super sensitive mic, its most noticeable when recording voice.
@oryan_dunn - That's similar but even then, just simple voice recording sounds bad to me. Every single video that I watch you can tell of the quality, since I can't post youtube links yet, if you happen to be on there you can search for video samples of peoples voice on it.
Here's a small portion of the video I recorded with my phone. I think it sounds great..but then again I came from a really early/crappy phone before I got the Amaze. So naturally everything is better for me.

@Double0EK - Aww, so cute, lol. Thank you very much for uploading that Yea I can tell that its much different, definitively sounds way much better. I guess I'll have to give it a go & root it right after.
I'm with the LG Optimus V, and even though the Evo 3D just came out for Virginmobile, I'm sick of their terrible service. I understand that its a prepaid, but service is just not good around in my area. T-Mobiles $30 Plan, 100minutes, unlimited texting and 5GB of data is very tempting, just needed to a phone to bring over. Thank you very much again.
i purchased this phone recently mainly because i wanted a good camera phone to bring to concert events. that way i wouldnt have to bring my camcorder. the video capture is great, however the audio was overwhelmed. i figured the 3 noise cancelling mics in the back would make sound recording good but that was not the case...
few examples:
damn i cant post links cause i dont have 10 posts yet...ill pm i guess
think i'm going to look into a modded camera.apk as well to see if i get better results
Guys,
Give lgcamera a whirl from the market. While it records in mono, the sound is much improved over the high gain HTC puts in their camcorder app. I'm on a Sensation but we suffer the same problem. With the lgcamera app you can set the audio to aac, 320kbs, 44.1khz. Sound is much better. If lgcamera doesn't do it for you try camera ICS from the market. Its basically the stock camera in the galaxy nexus.
Hope this helps.

You can hear that hissssssssss sometimes during the video that I cant stand. Its almost as if something is two loud for the video. Its always like that when recorded with stereo on. I personally always record in mono and it makes that sound go away
I was sitting next to one of the speakers so ya its kind of loud. I know what you mean tho. The mics are very sensitive.

I can tell you quite honestly, there are some audio situations(like someone mentioned races) that NO phone is going to record well, and someone suggested an app that you can choose audio settings - that sounds like the best idea.
I attached a screenshot, disable stereo audio, this HUGELY increases quality of audio.. but I'm sure with some light googling you could find an app that will help, or there may even be some build.prop tweaks out there..
But what I think trying to capture really loud sound is something you can't expect, this is a phone not a video camera(and most video cameras have the same issue).. but this phone has such a sensitive audio that really light sounds are picked up perfectly, crisp..
I guess my final thought - you're going to lose BIG time getting any other phone just because of this one thing - lower quality video, worse color capture(samsung!), loss of many features, speed, etc.. if you're willing to get what will be an inferior phone in SOME way just to get better audio, so be it.. but there is some work around I'm sure you could find with a little effort on your part.
so i downloaded and installed lgcamera... did a recording with stock camera app and then recorded the exact same stuff and me saying the exact same thing with lgcamera app. didnt hear much of a difference... THEN i decided to turn ''camcorder'' mode ON in lgcamera app and holy mother of GOD excellent audio!
Now i gotta tweak the video record settings for best quality on the video. (h.264 or mpeg4, also what quality settings and whatnot from there)
ALSO it would be nice to be able to launch lgcamera app from the dedicated video record button on the side of the phone. is there a way to do that?
also, does anyone want me to upload comparison audio videos showing you the difference between stock and the settings i chose?

I'm curious on the comparison video.. I just downloaded the app, really like it so far.. only issue is that I haven't found a video setting that works properly yet - what are all the video settings you're using? It will record SOMETHING.. but the screen freezes when I hit record, and it can't play whatever the output video is. I tried all the formats, multiple frames per second, different audio settings..
But definitely a nice app, once I get video working properly it will be my daily driver.
As for changing the camera button to that app, that may be pretty difficult.. it is something you have to change in the is, unless there's an app for that. I know tasker could do it.. but start Googling button remapper, and check the market.. I think I remember something that could do it.
edit: now when I press the key it automatically opens the app, I didn't change any settings.. so there must be some setting in the app for that perhaps? Otherwise, tasker will do the trick..
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
holding the camera key opens up lg camera so thats nice. but holding the dedicated video camera button still opens the stock video camera... curious.
Ill tell you my settings later when i upload the comparison video
seems there is a setback. lgcamera videos would playback choppy and super slow. tried to record with the stock app and the video came out the same way. did some research online, it seems sometimes LGcamera will corrupt and even mess up the stock camera forcing a factory reset to get everything working again. luckily my phone iso nly 2 days old so factory resetting isnt a pain for me.
ill see what i come up with afterwards

Try switching the scene mode to action or flowers. Flowers work best for me for consistent 30fps. Also make sure you test frame output in good lighting. Dim lighting will always have a lower recorded frame rate.
what i mean is when i plugged the camera back in to my computer and tried to play the videos on my computer, they would run at like 1/4th the speed and sometimes not play. after fcatory resetting it still did this. i restarted my computer and it fixed it. so maybe it was a playback issure on my comp vs the phone. i kept recording videos and plugging and unplugging my phone to my cmputer. i probably created a feedback loop or mucked up drivers or something. ill keep giving it a go.

And here it is.
I tested out stock camera stereo off, lg camera stereo on, and lg camera stereo off.
lgcamera stereo off is the exact sound quality we're looking for. It clearly works and sounds great! I sample them in my house and outside with fireworks going off to give you an idea how it will do with loud sounds and all that good stuff. check it out, i think you'll be pleasently surprised. ill be using lgcamera for my videos from here on out.
I saw no distinguishable difference in the 'quality' of the video between stock camera app and lgcamera at 20mb for video recording. (anything above 20 will not work as it will fail in recording. and when it does record when you watch it later the file will be corrupt)
settings are
video:
1920x1080
H.264
MPEG4
20Mbit (any higher will result in freezes and corrupt files)
30fps
Audio:
Camcorder
AAC
4800
32000
interesting

It won't work for me at that resolution, it just says video record failed, I have to use 1920x1088 or less than that. Also, I think you meant audio settings 48000 and 320000, but if you did.. it gets really choppy at that point. Lowering the settings much below that increases video quality, but then the sound is worse than stock video.
I'm thinking the audio quality of the stock video player is the highest it can be while still maintaining highest quality video, or at least that is what I gather from testing between the two. And besides, after doing the camera hack included in most current roms, the audio quality is MUCH better, which makes me think that the 40mb/s recording allows for better audio with stock.
Are you using the camera hack or a rom that has it included? If not, give it a try, I think it makes this camera app kind of a moot point.. if this app had more polish, and worked more consistently, maybe I would make the switch, but the stock app isn't bad by far, even less so with the camera mod.
Here is the settings that are used by the stock tmo camera app(from the modified media_profiles.xml in system/etc), if you are mainly trying to get better quality sound, that is the file you need to modify. If you are stock, but rooted.. find the mod, this is what it would look like:
<AudioEncoderCap name="aac" enabled="true"
minBitRate="8000" maxBitRate="96000"
minSampleRate="8000" maxSampleRate="48000"
minChannels="1" maxChannels="2" />
<AudioEncoderCap name="amrwb" enabled="true"
minBitRate="6600" maxBitRate="23050"
minSampleRate="16000" maxSampleRate="16000"
minChannels="1" maxChannels="1" />
<AudioEncoderCap name="amrnb" enabled="true"
minBitRate="5525" maxBitRate="12200"
minSampleRate="8000" maxSampleRate="8000"
minChannels="1" maxChannels="1" />
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Raise the minbitrate and minsamplerate to something higher, and raise the max if that isn't high enough for you.. if you don't want it to record in amrwb or amrnb format change those lines to enabled="false"
Makes more sense than using a 3rd party app that only sorta works I think..

Is there a "Best Camera APP" for custom ROM's?

Hi all,
Im thinking about getting back to stock firmware because Im not able to find a camera app that suites my usage needs. This is for me the best camera app i used but unfortunately it does not work on custom roms.
Since I turned to LOS, i couldn't become friends with:
-LOS stock cam app
-Google camera
-Camera Zoom FX
and some others i tried and deleted.
Best so far but still not really satisfying is Open Camera.
Is there some app that comes close to the V10 camera or is better than open camera?
Thanks for any answer!

some say footej other proshot are best for LOS.
as for v10.. ccamera its not the camera app. its the framework..used in tock LG based roms..
Hey, i think footej is a bit better than open camera but only in pro version, because only in pro version you can set jpeg quality to high.
Only footej camera premium! Basic isnt good but premium (paid) is the best.
Thanks for the input. Footej seemed really good. Unfortunately, before buying it it crashed when i was selecting the shutter speed. I mailed the support and wrote about it. I think i'll wait a little longer before buying the app. Also, the phone gets really hot regardless of the cam app i use. Any idea why? i cant recall if it was the same before LOS. Other than that, it seems like a really good alternative.
lightroom the best
Guys in Proshot there is Noise reduction adjustments. Manual doesn't say which one does what. There is NR HQ and LQ. My question is which option out of the two has least noise reduction as High quality vs Low Quality could be interpreted in different ways. One where High quality means lower noise reduction and other High quality meaning high strength of noise reduction applied meaning more smooth photo and less noise. Unfortunately Proshot manual does not list any description and can't find info anywhere. Thoughts guys?

For me Proshot camera is the best "alternative" app for take good quality photos... After this I can tell you that noise reduction in LQ works better than HQ, pics seems more real and smooth, HQ is too aggressive and photos loose their quality.

Ok that is where confusion lies. Tell me this. In LQ or HQ you see more grain in pictures ?
Actually is not so easy to answer. It depends a lot from light and colours. Sometimes HQ specially in day lights give better results, less grain and sharper photos, but sometimes specially in the dark LQ is better less sharp but photo quality and grains are better. For sure without noise reduction grain is always too much
I'm looking to get a G4 and installing LOS. But I don't know what 3rd party camera has manual controls for still pictures and/or video.
What's the slowest shutter speed I can get with them?
What are the framerates available?

i ditched LOS and went back to imperium rom. I tried Camera ZOOM fx, Footej Camera, Google camera, open camera, free camera and some others i think. For me, none of them came close to the stock camera app or V10 Camera ported to G4 but the one i liked the most was Footej camera. As others said, it is an driver issue in Nougat based LOS. Once the official nougat camera drivers are included in LOS, i might go back. The lack of a camera app that i could use comfortably was a dealbreaker for me.
I've had this same issue as well. I was using a stock based rom, but it stopped being updated, and my phone kept trying to update, using all my mobile data in the process. I couldn't find a way of stopping it downloading the update I couldn't install, so switched to resurrection remix, but now have the same camera problem. http://telewizor.serwis-tv.com/?lcd,23 I've been using Open Camera mostly, but its not ideal. I never thought this would be as big of an issue as it was.
What about snapdragon camera with hdr or hacked google camera with hdr+? Links are in AOSCP rom.
Which of the camera apps is able to make 360° photos compatible with facebook, like Samsung does?
I have tried Google Camera, various versions (original 3.2, 4.0 and modded 4.4), but all of them crash with error "Can't connect to camera" when I select Photo Sphere or Panorama in menu...I have stock Nougat (V29A) with titan kernel...

Help choosing a gcam

Hey there guys, i have 9.0 pixel experience ROM on my RN4. Camera2api enabled.
I don't know which version of gcam i am currently using but it gives a lot of force close errors and a green tint on front cam too.
I tried a lot of apps to know whether I've a Samsung or Sony sensor in it, but to no avail.
Would you please be so kind as to point me to the best gcam version suitable for my device right now?
Thank you so much kind stranger.

NO FC's, no green tint, portrait works, HDR works for both front and back and you can choose bitrate for video recording, using it for months and never looked back.
To avoid issues first fully remove old gcams you have installed.
Also i recommend flashing this magisk modules: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1RkHruqNGIKnkgfhX0B7BaeEGYc-airBc
It will let you record in [email protected], fixes distorted sound in video recordings and enables 30fps in viewfinder. (it works for Samsung / Sony, not sure about Omnivision)
To check which sensor you have just run some logcat reader, open gcam and shoot few pics, look for sensor info in log.
What is gcam? Can anyone explain.

Gcam stands for Google Camera. That's camera app from Google and it is originally found on Google (Pixel, etc.) devices. However, when using it on other phones, it can significantly improve photo quality in comparison to what stock camera and other available alternatives on the market can achieve. That's because Google Camera relies heavily on "clever" software and superior photo processing algorithms capable of generating and preserving more data. So even hardware-wise "bad cameras" can benefit from using it. Of course there are some downsides as well, since the app is not designed to be run on other - non Google - devices you need modified version of it in order to use it. That said there are many different modifications of said application with variuos degrees of functionality, bugs and stability. You can check most of them collected here.

How To Guide Circumventing the current video recording bugs on custom ROMs

On Custom ROMs we all share currently the same video recording bug.
Audio is missing or off-sync, time-length of videos get messed up, and so on.
The temporary workaround was to reboot the phone and after that, for the next ~5-10 minutes video recording was working more or less as intended.
Needless to say that this is very cumbersome.
Here has someone found another workaround that seems to be the better option for now:

Therewith it is currently the only known option we have to make video recording work on custom roms (without the workaround of rebooting the device and having a ~10min timeframe of working video recording)
I've tested Footej Camera 2 + Footej Camera 2 Premium (May 2021 version) and both seem to work for video recording.
There are some downsides, though:
- Non-Premium version has a 5min time limitation for videos, Ads, and JPEG quality limitations.
- both versions have the limitation of 30-fps video (in normal mode). There is no 60-fps video option like in gcam.
Despite that, this seems to be a better workaround until gCam fixes are out or anxcamera is working.
