Question any idea for swap samsung package installer without root? - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

hi, i wondering if there is any chance to replace the stock samsung package installer app, cuz im using china mainland firmware and local customization inserts ads in it. any time after install process finishes then a huge half screen size ads popup and full of some random hook-ups apps. also the one ui launcher that i prefer the one using google feed rather than so called bixby smart page. thanks!

you could use AppManager as an installer
you will have to have root or you can enable the option via adb, im using the adb option and it works like a charm and you get a little bit more information about the app and what changes are in terms of version number and permissions.

Help me fix some quirks

I have a SM-g900t that I'm using with Straight Talk. It is rooted.
There are a few things that drive me crazy.
First the pop-ups about the battery cover and USB port cover. Before I could get rid of these with Xposed G-Touchwiz, but now it doesn't work.
Also on the stock browser. How do I get rid of the MobileLife and The Source bookmarks? Before I used a root browser to go in and change these to "editable" now that doesn't work.
One last thing. On the stock browser how can I change it so it's always in Desktop view forever! I've never figured this out, but there must be a way.
Thanks
Chris

You should be able to remove both those warnings with Wanam Xposed module found inside of the notifications panel settings.
As far as Stock Browser issues go, I cannot help you on those one as I've never used the Stock browser. My only "suggestion" would be to use the Chrome browser, unless you just completely don't like it for some reason. But it is definitely better and gets continuous updates for it too.

When I downloaded it said for lollipop, but when installed and I open it gives warning that it doesn't work on lollipop. And it doesn't work, has a bunch of cool settings, but they don't work.
I'm on 5.1.1.

You could always download from the playstore "root app delete" and use it to uninstall pop-up receiver.
Google chrome has the desktop view in its settings.
Also the Wanam module you want Wanam Xposed for Lollipop.

Root app delete worked! Thanks. Funny App Master couldn't find anything named that.
I have Wanam Xposed for Lollipop, but it says it will not work unless I'm on a custom rom. Says Xposed for TW Lollipop. Samsung Lollipop Roms are NOT supported yet, I will update when we get a compatible Xposed framework for Touchwiz Lollipop.
Seems like a nice app though.
I have not found a rom that works without a problem. Even the stock deodexed rom keeps flashing google drive screen over and over.

I've rooted my Kindle! Now what?

Hey everyone!
With the help of the excellent guides on this forum, I was able to root my Fire HD 6 and install GAPPs. However, I'm relatively new to the Amazon ecosystem, and rooting in general, and I was wondering if I could get some help on a few tasks that would make my experience way better.
First, I need to be able to allow notification access to a few apps I use, but since I'm still using the restricted Amazon settings menu, I can't see how to do it. How do I access the vanilla Android settings menu?
Second, I would love to use a lockscreen like Echo, but when I swipe in, it just shows the Amazon Special Offers lockscreen. How do I disable the Amazon one?

LOL. Welcome to our world, where all roads lead to Amazon settings. Seriously, there's no such thing as a vanilla Android settings menu. I haven't tested latest OS, but on last version Push notifications tended not to work or to be very late--Hangouts didn't work at all. Other kinds of notifications (from Gmail, xda a few others) were pretty good. I'm doubtful anything's changed with this release, but you can try one of the Xposed modules that offer per-app notification settings. Might be something at the Play Store.

You can disable the ads and get Amazon's stock lockscreen wallpaper. See here. I've tried a few lockscreen apps and Xposed modules, but they either didn't work or made the lockscreen look wrong or behave badly. Maybe you can get something to work after disabling ads.

[MOD] [DEBLOAT] Delete redundant Stock Apps using TWRP

This is a flashable zip to delete all unnecessary stock apps using custom recovery.
You must have TWRP/RWRP installed (Guide to achieve this is HERE).
This zip is usable for both Stock and Custom ROMs.
Benefits :
More system space.
Better battery.
Cleaner app drawer.
List of apps removed :
Asus Service Center
Asus Calculator
Bloatware apps (Babe,Lazada,Shopee)
Facebook
Go2Pay
Google Calender
Google Drive
Google Duo
Google Mail
Google Maps
Google Messeging
Google Movies and TV
Google Music
Google Photos
Google Search
Instagram
Redundant wallpapers
YouTube
To install,
Download attached Debloat script.
Backup Data and everything else necessary.
REMEMBER this is tested on my primary device but the risk is entirely yours if you try this.
I will try to help in case of issues.
If on Android Pie then first mount /system partition in TWRP.
Flash via Recovery (nothing to be cleaned after flash)
Reboot.
If you see any of the above system app in app drawer after flashing this - then it is left due to App updates. You can uninstall them like a regular app and they won't bother you again.
Please create single file with Aroma support so people can decide what they want to uninstall.
Just a request

I'm having problem with multi touch, it's annoying when playing games.
And sometimes my phone took so long to charge. I tried using stock adapter, and ugreen with quick charge 3.0. But still doesn't make any difference. So i think it's software related issue.
Can you make a fix for these problem? Like custom kernel so it can charge faster?

I can work on with the help of similar fix used in Pixel phones. A magisk based solution but it will be fixed officially with next OTA containing June security patch so not worth the effort.
Wait for OTA it is android bug.
My phone is stuck on Zenfone Logo and I'm on 311. It's stuck there for about 3 min. and that's not normal, I think.

WebView is just an additional app for me .. I use Chrome Dev which can provide me WebView.
I use Google Inbox and user should have an ability to remove this app.
Calendar plugin is just an addon for people who do not use Google Calendar to keep track of shedules.
It's all personal opinion and most of the apps are available in PlayStore so you have the alternate to install the apps as user apps.

Using this mod with your twrp-flashable ROM (318). Excellent work, really great. Will you implement the aroma-options? Also, i tried using the Google wallpapers app, but i don't even see the 'refresh wallpaper daily option'. Any workaround for that?

Thank you for appreciation of the work
Trying to find time for implementing Aroma installer.
The wallpaper issue is due to Live Wallpaper Picker being removed from v305 in the device.
You can use THIS MODULE to fix it.

Thanks a lot. Works on 6gb version too. Usual debloater script. Haven't tried extreme.
Somehow unistalling chrome or something from Root Explorer was breaking things in the OS.

Just a polite suggestion - Can you add 1. Google talkback & 2. Google TTS in the script?
Found some more bloatware in /system/priv-app
1. Yandex app.
2. Yandex browser.
Wtf. The package name or anything isn't even showing in Titanium Backup!

Yes, not active I suppose. Maybe something to do with permissions. Even if you delete it, the folder remains although the contents get deleted

I deleted those folders too via twrp file manager.
Also FM, talkback & google tts.
And 2 more bloatware like Ibook and someother starting with "A".
All the above from either /system/app or system/priv-app.

Got an oppo find x in US

Finally got my oppo find x purchased from China, let me know if you guys have question about using in US.
What service provider are you using it on? Any issue? Does Android auto work fine? Do you know if you can use the face recognition to access apps since there is no fingerprint sensor?
I also had one imported from China. I'm on att. I don't know any app that supports the face id right now. None of the bank apps support it, Google play doesn't, lastpass doesn't. So you'll have to type in the password every time.

How is the service on at&t? Just curious are running china rom or global one?
I'm on Tmobile, face unlocked does not work with any apps. Mine is Chinese rom, Google play store installed by my own, no apps crash found now. And I tested Verizon yesterday, it's not working, no signal at all unless turn on the lte only mode, seems Verizon has not approve the device on their network yet.

Hi, how did you disable the stock launcher and get Nova running? Don't you need an Oppo ID for that? Without a Chinese number this doesn't seem to work. Under default apps - home screen apps nothing is shown for me .

1. Install Nova launcher or whatever launcher you like on your phone. Go to phone settings, disable gesture control and use navigation buttons instead.
2. Enable USB debugging on your phone. Download and unzip ADB. Instructions can be found here.
3. Go to the root directory of ADB on your computer. Open Command Prompt, or Terminal on OSX or Linux.
4. Connect your phone to computer using USB.
5. Type the following in the command prompt
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user com.oppo.launcher
. Remember only do this after you have other 3rd party launchers installed.
6. The default gesture control will not work properly anymore. You can use navigation buttons. Or if you want to use gesture, go to phone settings, choose the one where swiping from bottom left is back and swiping from bottom right is recent apps.

Turning a Pixel Into a Dumb(-ish) Phone

Hey guys,
Spending way too much time on my iPhone lately and recently purchased a Pixel 4a to strip down the OS to the bare essentials. If possible, I want to retain the following functions:
Gmail/Email
Tasks/To-Do
Calendar
Notes
Navigation
Weather
Clock
Plex or PlexAmp
Signal Messenger
Possibly WhatsApp
Everything else, I'd like to remove, including the option to install more Apps from the Play Store. Essentially, what the Ghost Phone does, but without a $300 price tag and a several month wait.
What's the best way to accomplish this? I installed LineageOS but I'm not sure if that will break any of the functions I'm trying to accomplish. Any pointers greatly appreciated. Bonus points if there's a way to lock it to grayscale!
on android, everything is a app. you already installed custom rom, try to freeze/disable each app on its own and do some test phone is working properly. if phone is stable you can uninstall.
you can disable packages by adb shell or by app (no root required)
you may also have a look in microG (root)
https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/wiki
for strip down kernel during runtime try Kernel Adiutor (root)
https://github.com/Grarak/KernelAdiutor/releases

Hey Alecxs, sorry for the delayed reply, I seem to have missed this. Thanks for the feedback. I'm mostly trying to figure out a solution where I don't need to do much customization -- like the Ghost Phone but just the ROM component of it.
Thank you!
