Question How do i change icons individually in the homescreen - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

i'm new with sansung, came from Oneplus (my last one was oneplus 8 pro) and there i could first of all change every icon on homescreen individually and choose whichever icon i want to set. And now on the S23 Ultra i just cant figure out how to do that. so how do i change icons in S23, is it a launcher thing? do i suppose to go as far as Rooting my device to enable such features?
also, in the oneplus i have the option to set wide wallpapers which scrolled together as i scrolled through the homescreen pages, is there a way to do that here?

Samsung Galaxy store download the Samsung app called theme park, that's where you customize oneui (Samsung Android skin) also there's a whole bunch of Samsung apps you'll want for customization goodlock and theme park have them for you to download

As stated in the post before, you have "Good Lock" and its modules, or with one of the launchers, e.g. "Nova Launcher" with which you can do exactly what you mentioned... and much more...

Just use 3rd party launcher, and it would be easy peasy,
Nova Launcher is what i currently use

Nice guide that you put up for people who cannot wait for 5.0 and prefer using Nova.
:good:
I tried Google Now launcher but reverted back to Touchwiz because i could not use S-Note widgets with it. Are all widgets available with Nova?
Looks really good, i had it setup really close to this, some off your stuff makes it look even better, thank you.

You can actually use Floatify to add lockscreen notifications similar to the ones in Lollipop.
For thoose of you who cannot wait for Lollipop and wants to use the lollipop theme without any struggle please flash the latest X-note rom. You can easily just change theme with Xnote controll app and there you go you have lollipop on your device with just a click. And it´s running smooth as butter just lovely. Thats why i love x-note, there is also alot of other themes to choose from. Question is if the x-note rom is avaible for all note 4 models.
Anyways im running the lollipop theme and will also do a x-note rom review as doing videos about android, rom reviews, game reviews, guides etc is my passion you can follow me on youtube ( the android dewd reviews ) stay tuned because a x-note rom review with the beautiful tw theme chooser they added you will be amazed how easily you can switch themes without nova or any other launcher and run lollipop if thats what you like.
Kind regards!
The android dewd reviews.

Sorry, no, the s-planner widget doesn't work which is sad as I really need it.
Could you please share the nova.backup file, so it would be easy for anyone to use that, after setting the icons to lollipop, so others can simply import the whole setup. Its just for folks who keep changing there look. Just my 2 cents !!

POCO Launcher

POCO Launcher is surprisingly simple and elegant — at least, for Xiaomi. It might look simple, but it packs in plenty of options, including things as detailed as different transition animations, sort of like Nova Launcher. The app drawer is accessible via a convenient and typical upward swipe, and apps are organized by type into categories like communication and entertainment.
The setup process is straightforward, and there are a surprising number of individual settings to explore, though it doesn't hold a candle to things like Nova Launcher when it comes to sheer customization options. Presumably, it's also in active development, so we should see more features landing soon.
Unfortunately, we can't download it over on the Play Store since the beta program registration is currently full. However, we can download it from APK Mirror .

I would like to see a dark theme in it... But all of MIUI has light theme..
I would have loved to see an option to resize the icons, did not find it through the setting so far, wonder if it is available yet.

It depends on the theme that you have installed in your MIUI-powered phone. For example "Geometry Black" that I have in my Mi5 is dark everywhere. In general, the default themes that xiaomi phone have are light-themed.
I don't know what is the similar theme for Poco and if this theme is compatible with it as I don't have it yet.

geometry black is available in themes and it tuns background o black for settings and all. The app drawer still stays white tough, which defeats its purpose. It more for MIUI & not optimised for "MIUI for POCO"
Just moved to Nova for a two reasons:
*no option to set grid sizes ( desktop and app drawer).
*Nova teslaUnread add on solves (at least temporary) lack of notification problem in notification bar.
*ability to change color/transparency of app drawer background.

By this do u mean the unread count badge on home page icons or does Nova give u notification in the status bar.
Even Poco gives unread badge just not the counts.

Yes, I meant badges and sadly is doesn't work properly for some apps. maybe I missed this option on poco launcher. But still grid adjustment is nesasary.
Yeah, it's great, but I would like to have 4 icons in a row with bigger icons, such as in iOS.
Also, some kind of live or scrollable wallpapers support would be nice.
Individual change of icons such as in Nova Launcher, too.

It's basically the same miui launcher with the added app drawer
its there a way to change the navigation bar color scheme, for some reason on dark apps the navigation bar below its all white its horrible
Something funny i noticed with Poco launcher.
Locking homescreen layout should mean no icon/widget can either be added to or removed from the homescreen.
But apparently, after you lock homescreen layout in settings, you can still add an app shortcut to the homescreen but you can't add a widget!
Just updated to latest Poco launcher, was the word on the header at the app drawer before?
No, it wasn't.
Did you update from PlayStore?
Post some impressions, please. Is it OK or is it buggy?

Nova launcher pro, everytime on every phone ? Swipe up gesture to turn screen off, swipe down to show notifications. Widgets can overlap and resize freely. Has app drawer. I am not aware of other launcher with these (and many more) features.

You lose pie/Android 10 recents with Nova though.
For Android 9 I use Hyperion launcher
For Android 10 I use paphonb quickstep port (or lawnchair v2 early Android 10 release which is pretty buggy but usable)

I wasn't even aware that recent menu has changed with Pie. Just tried it and to be honest, I prefer the Nova recent menu. But maybe I'll give a chance to and try some other launcher with system recent menu support.

You will also need quickswitch magisk module to enable the recents view on custom launchers that support it

Stock launcher is good enough for me i like it, i use to use pixel launcher in my old phone, i already have pixel launcher in mi a3 so no need for 3rd party launcher

Nova settings -> app drawer -> gestures -> swipe to open/close. You can remove app drawer icon then. It's pretty close to the stock launcher behavior. Or, Nova settings -> home screen -> new apps -> add icons to home screen. Then you don't need to use app drawer at all, all new app icons will be on your home screen after installation (you will need to add existing apps manually though).
Nova since 4ever.
Swipe up for drawer, drawer have one page and everything in folders, double tap to turn off, swipe down for notifications , counter clockwise for settings.

Still like I said above you will lose the Android 9/10 recents view on launchers that don't support it. Nova being one of them
I'm a huge fan of Nova. It's the best launcher for Android ever made. But recently I've switched to Hyperion. It's really awesome. I really like the blur effect a lot. Immersive mode, gestures, screen lock-everything is there. It's the second best launcher imo.
I'll probably switch back to Nova eventually.
Another launcher I really like is Lean launcher. Super lightweight, super snappy launcher with not many customization options. Has Google feed & screen lock with double tap though. Allows you to hide apps & change the icon for individual apps.

Just wondering, what's so good on stock recent apps menu? I use it only to switch between apps. The omnipresent Google search bar irritates me, can it be disabled?

Just how fluid it is being able to open the app drawer from the recents menu by just swiping up on the dock and the way it fits with the gestures of Android 10 now aswel it's just way better in my opinion. But it is completely up to the person and what they prefer themselves. I can't tell you it's the best coz each to their own.
Also thats pixel launcher that has Google search. Aosp quickstep launcher does not have Google search in dock

I see, thanks for the explanation. So you basically like features which I prefer not to be present. Nova launcher with "old" recent menu seems to be the better choice for me. Anyway, going to try Hyperion, it sounds nice I'll give a chance to the quickswitch Magisk module too, maybe it'll grow on me.
Mine is Niagara, best simplistic launcher, best one handed launcher ive ever used.

Ya and the way you can access the app drawer by simply swiping up on the dock. It just all fits seamlessly with the new gestures

Question Icon Pack in Pixel 6

Hi, I have a pixel 6 and I'm missing some customisation. I would like to be able to use icon packs but I don't want to root the phone. Is there any way to allow me to do this?

Use another launcher from play store. Default Pixel Launcher doesn't support icon pack unless rooted.
Yes of course, I know that, but I would like to keep using the original launcher, it works very well.... I guess I'm still asking for something impossible...

Try the X Icon Changer app from playstore.
X Icon Changer - Change Icons - Apps on Google Play
App Icon Changer & Shortcut Creator. Customize your icons without any watermarks
play.google.com
It basically makes shortcuts/widgets (so the new "icons" are only shown on the home screen and not in the app drawer) but would work on stock launcher without root.
It's shortcut maker and an icon pack, you create a shortcut from shortcut maker (a widget actually, which looks like a shortcut) for every app you want on your home screen, then while creating said shortcut you change its icon in the icon section omegle xender . Inside the icon section in shortcut maker app you will find an option to apply icon from an icon pack.
