Question Android 12 radio and BT DSP - Android Automotive OS

Hello, Im new here (my first post) not sure if this is the correct area but....
I bought an android 12 radio few months ago from ali for my 2022 camry, I have a sound system that has a expert bluetooth digital sound processor. I used with no problems via my phone. For some reason the hhead unit wwont "see" the DSP, I also tried the app on my other vehhicle android radio and it worked, so the problem is not the dsd. I wonder if any of you maybe had this problem before or have any idea how to make it works. Let me know any kind of info you'll need please. Tanks in advance.

First time and 2 questions...

I just got my XDA II and loving it. This is my first post here, I've been looking for a great XDA site and now I found one.
First question is, how do you guys find all those ROM updates and Radio Stack upgrade? I have 1.60.00WWE and Radio version 1.08.00. Is there a new rom upgrade out there that I can't find in myxda.com site?
Second question, could I replace the Microsoft Bluetooth stack so I can use my bluetooth headset to listen to music or videos?
Thank you for your time,
Eberhard
I can answer the second question, the bluetooth on the xda2 does not allow listening to music through bluetooth headset neither has the full handsfree/headset profile been implemented. A very clever person has however written a program called pocket bluetooth tools which go some way to addressing some of the shortcoming regarding serial port profiles. Some of the later roms however have negated the need for this program. Run a search on this forum for "bluetooth", make sure you have an hour or two to spare.

As you know, the Xda 2 is name by thousand of other names like MDA2,I-Mate pocket pc phone,Q-tek 2020,etc..
The official upgrades you can find everywhere, especially on the company site like: www.clubimate.com (I-Mate)
www.myxda.com (Xda-O2)
www.qtek.nu (Q-tek)
Who let you download the newest upgrade by free.
-Actually there isn't such implemetantion on curent bluettoh stack but, have you tryed installing the new Bluetooth hacked Stack from Widcomm?
I give u the link for Access the Lan over Bluetooth, then you will find the link to the download of the Stack named BluetoothGPS.zip

Regards,

Thanks for all the tips you guys given me. I tried bluetooth stack and so far it works.
As for the hack on the bluetooth, I'm going to try it now.
But it still don't fulfill my satisfaction as I can't listen to music thru my bluetooth headset, at least not with bluetooth tools.
Thanks again, I hope this bluetooth hack will solve my needs to listen to music over my headset.
what hack are you guys talking about ??
i ve installed widcomm stack and the kai patch. when the widcomm manager connects to the headset it gives beeping sounds but after i answer the beeps there is no sound on my imate or the headset..
what hack are you guys talking about ??
Well, I tried the Widcomm BT tools and the darn thing don't work. 2 Bluetooth Icon Appeared on the bottom and I tried to connect my Headset and it doesn't want to stay connected when I hit the connect button. It would sound on but then it turns off and I can't answer a call with it.
Does Widcomm BT has to be installed with the Bluetooth Tools?

Thanks very much Sin!
Been Looking forward to this SiN! Made my weekend!
Thank Sin for putting it together.
I originally Had and Orange SPV M1000, and upgraded it with the O2 1.72 version, in the hope that it would sort out the problems with Blue Tooth and Handsfree car kits, which it did not of course.
Thought I would try the rom from Mystery Man, which interestingly did not require any changes to the files to allow it to update, which also did not work the blue tooth, so I was going to try just updating the Radio to 1.18, but saw your new package pop up, so thought what the hell, give it a go, and now I am made up cos been very frustrated that it would not work in car kit.
The car kit I have is the Nokia CK-7W Blue tooth if this helps anyone else, I also assume it will work with the others, in particualr the built in ones in BMW's.
So thanks again everyone, I can sleep now.
Mark
Other known issues..
Thanks for the job SIN!
I have to point out a couple of issues I'm having since long, that seem related to the BT problem, but looks like no one else is having: "DUAL STEREO" sound in both (XDA II and Handsfree/headset) devices.
No matter BT headset is "enabled" or "disabled", the devices configured as "handsfree" are operational. Plus, my HBH 35 headset refuses to work unless configured as a handsfree device. After that, every handsfree device works in "STEREO" mode. Nice for multi part conferences, but annoying for your caller, who hears every tap on the XDA in your pocket, since the mic is operational no matter what.
I'm really the only one with this problem?
:?:
Hi Sin
Just a quick question, tried to change the splash1 & 2 images, to get away fro O2 image you put into file, but having probs with corrupted display if the image, howd you do it please, as I understand the normal method does not work with Chinese and Trial versions !
Many thanks in advance.

Does the headset mic work on handsfree profile Sin?
thanks Sin
I tried to modify the extended ROM to modify the provider list but couldn't found the autoconfig.txt, is it ok to create autoconfig and put it there? or did you merged the autoconfig inside Sin.Merged.v1.0.cab?
please let me know
thanks

Re: Other known issues..
Looking Glass,
Your not the only one with this problem.
I have a bmw with bluetooth and it does the dual stero trick.
I have a Bluespoon Digital and it also does the dual stereo trick.
Has any one tried removing the head set profile and leaving just the hands free
Thanks

Other Bluetooth Devices
Before I try out these new updates which sound fantasic, I am interetsed to know how this will effect my bluetooth GPS.
Currently I am using bluetooth tools to connect my GPS to my XDAII, does the new roms enhance bluetooth or should I still install bluetooth tools?
thanks.

I just tried the car again and it worked perfectly. So it looks like I only have the problem with the Bluespoon.
I'm pretty happy with the car working as that was what I really wanted.
Johnson..... you have to log in then you will find the attchments at the bottom of the first post in this thread.
Guest... I dont have a bluetooth GPS. Ive no idea if it works. I do know you cant get the Sandisk WiFi SD card to work which is a bummer.

ExtendedROM...
@ Sin,
This merge ROM version of yours, what is the most very important file that I need to keep on my extended_ROM? Last time I used your version without any problem But I need to remove some CAB file for my own customization. But now seems that ms_.nbf has only one file (Sin.Merged.v1.0.cab) which I think all the CAB file was in there.
Is it possible to gave us your merge CAB without the rest of installed program? Or is it okay to delete some CAB on extended_ROM after installation (cooked-own ROM style)?
Thanks!

What ROM are you using now? I used to have 1.72 ROM and I need to used Bluetooth tools to be able to use both BT headset and BT GPS (Belkin/rebadge Fortuna Clip-on). BUT with ROM 2.06 (mysteryman), Sin.AU.v3.5(extended_ROM) and 2.02t1 Reg CABv3.cab (from henrylim). I am no longger needed bluetooth tools, it works without any issue.
file mentioned can be found here:

Nice to know, thanks for info, I was about to think no one else has the problem.
I've been experimenting during the weekend, and found that the problem remains quite the same: some headsets/handsfree only work if the HandsFree profile is selected, and then the "dual stereo" problem arises again.
By contrast, version 2.20 properly handles every "audio" device (at least my devices) but I haven't found how to made BT ActiveSync back to life. Plus the other known issues with the translation (May I help Buzz_lightyear?)
Resume: Excellent job by Sin (regards) but the whole BT thing is not yet fixed. I like his "new compact" Ext Rom, but since HandsFree profile is at this time more important to me than BT ActiveSync, I'm going back to 2.20.

I have a CoPilot Bluetooth GPS unit and it does not need Bluetooth Tools to get it to work via serial port emulation. I'm using 2.06 ROM.
With the BT GPS bonding, you get to say you want it to be a serial port but you don't get to specify what specific port number like with Bluetooth tools. This is not a problem with CoPilot software as it will FIND the serial port and baud rate in it's Bluetooth connection/configuration setup.
I also have a SanDisk SDIO WiFi card which also works fine (note the card is NOT the SDIO RAM+WiFi though!).

Hi again!
How exactly did you get to eliminate de "Dual stereo" effect in your carkit? I have too a HBH 35 headset and the problem remains on both of them.
This is my only complain, everything else works so well! And Sin made such a good job putting the Ext Rom together!
Thanks Sin for the easy to install ROM.. well done.
My Bluetooth GPS works fine, a bit of a change not having to select a port, but the port is displayed so that wasn't a problem.
My Logitech Headset refuses to work. It pairs with the XDAII but I am unable to iniate a call from the headset and the mic doesn't work.
The Bluetooth smybol is gone from the task bar too... probably something I did...
Is there a cab about that allows me to reinstall the bluetooth section just in case I stuffed somethign up?
Thanks.

With greetings from the netherlands Iwan
Hey Iwan in the Netherlands,
I don't have the pioneer, but did play with one in the store recently. I know your trying to pair the phone to the radio, but actually, I think it should be the other way around. Try this:
Set the radio on discovery
Using the HTC, search for new devices
The radio's model number should appear
Check both boxes for audio streaming and hands free.
Hope this helps & works.

[APP] Dell Venue FM Radio App Request *SOLVED*

Is there an app or process to have a FM radio app for Dell venue?
As there was one back for Motorola Charm which didnt ship with Built in Radio App (FM) in Asia sets
I don't think the Venue has a built-in FM radio. I have tried several apps, including one or two that are supposed to work with the Streak 5, and have never had any success.

thanks for the responce
but if I upgrate my stock rom with 2.3 rom posted here
will it help?
I don't think so, I don't think the Venue has the hardware for an FM radio.
The Venue uses a Broadcom BCM4329, which has:
Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
FM Radio (recieve and transmit)
Unfortunately, since android doesnt have a standardized method of interfacing with the radip: there's simply no support at the driver level.
The Streak 5 has limited radio support as there was a hack that enabled it, but the S5 uses the BCM4325.
All other dell devices use the BCM4329 and only the SPro has support for it.
It might be possible to hack the Streak Pro's support back onto the V (as they both run GB and use the same chip),
I intend to attempt to hackport the SPro's rom to the S5, and perhaps to the V in the summer.
But I have no idea if it'll work, much less getting the radio to work.
Officially, the SPro is the first dell device to officially recieve fm radio support.

I finally took the time to look at this, and the link provided provides a working FM Radio app. Go figure. It works, for the most part. The link is to the English translation of a Vietnamese page. There is a link to FM Radio for Dell Venue, which is a rar file on mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/?ob6ot26eey5m7dh). The Google Translate thing screws up the link, so just use the one I posted. Inside the rar is two apk's and a file called fm_hcitool. I installed the one called 20110824SFR-MM.apk (not the one called Streak Radio) and it turned out to be Spirit FM - the free version. I set the the audio method to fm_hcitool the band to European (I live in Germany) and the radio worked. I could only get it to come out of the phone not the headphones, but it was better than nothing. It requires BT being active, but it will turn that on itself. I am running CM7 (when I tried earlier, I was still stock Froyo, before the GB Rom's were available.)
Update - download the updated Spirit FM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296. I still can't get it to go through the headphones, but other than that it works.

Nothing worked when I tried on my stock rooted venue either. It works now under CM7 though. I really have no idea what the fm_hcitool file does. I saw the file in the rar file, and took a guess when I configured Spirit FM. I only copied the Spirit FM apk over to the venue too, not the fm_hcitool file. Maybe it will work fully with that on the phone, I see the Streak guys got their radio working by putting it in the /system/bin folder and setting the correct permissions. Maybe I will try that later and see if it changes anything.

I've done it before. It's great.
And the wonderful thing is you can listen to music when the radio is on and a call is in progress
The phone call uses the small phone speaker.
The muzick player uses the loud speaker.
And the radio ( spirit FM ) uses the earphone.
And.... They work at the same time together
By using Spirit FM, you can control the output sound.
You can choose where the sound will be play ( headphone or loudspeaker )

I have a Chinese made MTK6592 phone and having problem with bluetooth pairing. When BT device has a preset pairing code of 0000, it will auto connect. However I have 2 i-Tech BT headsets that have a preset pairing code of 8888. The phone simply tells me the code is incorrect and no input window poping out.
Can anyone help me out?? thanks alot!!

Yes, my device is running 4.2.2, thanks!
Hello ttsugar, I've read your post about the pairing issue, I've got the same too.
I've experienced this troubles with two new phones, both with MTK6592 - octacore -, when tried to connect to my car audio device: the phones are the Cubot X6, and the Star N9800; my car DVD combo player is from EONON brand.
With my old phones all worked at the top, as regards all the bluetooth functions. Still with my iNew V3 the pairing works like a delight, and all the bluetooth functions were good at all.
I surfed the internet to find a solution, tried some patches, but nothing to do with the new octacore, the song remains the same : "..,invalid passkey..." . no way to introduce the pairing code.
I don't think that the problem is the 4.2.2 android version, becouse my iNew V3 has got this version too, and works perfectly...
I really think that the problem stands in the different hardware of the bluetooth chipset included in the new MTK6592 ( they speak about 4.0 ), so the protocol doesn't communicate well with the old devices.
Hope to find a solution asap, I need the same too !
Has anyone reached out to eonon about this issue? I just purchased the cubot x6 and having the exact same problem. anyway If I find something i will let everyone know. So far I requested if any updates or patches for the head unit and if not would it be possible to change the pin number on the head unit.
