Switch to line 2 on orange sim - Windows Mobile Apps and Games

I've upgraded from a Nokia 6310i and iPaq 3870 connected by Bluetooth to an unlocked XDA using my orange SIM. With help from this site, particularly Dave4391, I've got GPRS working, but the next problem is that I've got Line 2 on my SIM for friends and family, but I can't find anyway of switching to it on the XDA. On my 6310i it is a long (about 5-7 seconds) press on the # key, which toggles between Line 1 and 2. Using SIM manager I can see both my numbers but I can't find a way of changing lines. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi,
not much help but I am looking for an answer to this problem too
Hope someone can do it
Thanks
Michael

You need a phone that has the orange logo "stamped" on it - they preload their software on to the phone... Theres going to be no way to do it, unless one of the lovely XDA developers can program their own software :?:

Hi John
Glad to hear those settings work for you I was just looking through the forum. I have upgraded my xda1 to a xda2 and had line 2 activated recently and I am having the same problems as you, if I discover anything I will drop you a line, lets hope one of the developers from this great forum will help us out and maybe write some software to solve this, I have quite a few beers to give away I don't know whether you know or not but orange are bringing out their own version of the xda,
check it out www.orange.co.uk/cgi-bin/business/phones.pl?context=corporate&phone=spvm1000.

Unable to see T-mobile network with Pay As You Go SIM

Greetings all,
I'm having the following issue with a Qtek 1020 I just purchased from Microdirect, sold as SIM unlocked. The phone just doesn't find the network when I turn it on with my Pay As You Go T-mobile SIM. No error message pops up, nothing asks me for an unlock code etc, I just get the message 'No Service' under Connectivity when I select the aerial icon at the top of the screen. When I go to Phone Settings I can see listed under 'other networks' O2 and Vodafone, but no T-mobile. I've tried changing GSM bands in the bootloader and listing networks but to no avail (I switched through 900, 1900 and 900/1800). I have also tried the unlocking tools around this site with no success. I know the SIM works as it asks for my PIN when I switch on and I can also browse through contacts stored on it. I'm wondering if anyone here has any ideas as I'm all out.
Information about my Qtek:
Qtek 1020
ROM version: 4.02.04 ENG
ROM date: 8/24/05
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
Model No: PW10B1
Please don't let me pull any more hair out :x
Thanks and warm regards,
Neil.
Same here
Hi,
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone! I too bought the 1020 from Microdirect and have the same problem. I've tried my t-mobile pay as you go SIM in an i-mate pda2k and it worked straight away. That made me think the 1020 was restricted to o2/vodafone. If its an unlocked PDA why do Microdirect say it won't work with Orange? Where I work we successfully unlocked an XDA and used an Orange SIM, but that was a couple of years ago.
I've e-mailed qtek but have had no response yet.
I've tried the xda developers ROM and while it is cool I still get the problem with the t-mobile SIM, although it says No Signal as opposed to No Service. I was going to try the GSM modes on the bootloader but notice you've tried that already so I won't bother.
If I get any further I'll post back asap.
Mark
Thanks for your reply Mark and now I can rest knowing I'm not the only one having trouble! I too tried the developer's ROM with no luck, although it was nice to play with the extra applications. Funny how Microdirect stated that it was compatable with T-Mobile, when it seems that it is not. I tried my sister's T-Mobile contract SIM and it doesn't work either, but my mum's Vodafone SIM works fine as well as my dad's Pay As You Go Vodafone SIM. It seems like this device is locked out of T-Mobile.
Regards,
Neil.
News from Microdirect
Microdirect have backtracked on the unlocked claim.
See link below for their comments.
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=11864&GroupID=1162
Oh well!
Yep I saw that. I decided to keep the PDA because it was such a good deal and I'm trying to go for a cheap contract with Vodafone. Check out http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/phonenetwork-84-1-Nokia_1100_on_Vodafone.html - £8 per month for the first 6 months then £16 afterwards. You get 1000 off-peak minutes per month to landlines and other Vodafone users as well as 250 TXTs plus £110 cash back after 6 months!! Sounds like a bargain to me, let's hope I pass the credit check!
Neil.
I was about to ask the very same question myself. I'm somewhat annoyed that Microdirect never even bothered to apologise or correct the mistake directly when I presented this problem to them last week - their response was to simply "return the item". For a Pocket PC PDA though, it's nice and cheap so like others, I'll keep mine and buy the cheapest possible Vodafone PAYG system that I can.
Well my Vodafone contract was approved and I immediately put the SIM into my Qtek 1020 whilst leaving the bundled Nokia phone unopened. All is well, I set up GPRS etc and my handy new PDA just got handier. Now I can sell this Nokia 1101 phone as it's SIM unlocked... might get 20 quid for it or something!
Regards,
Neil.
Okay well here's another damn issue with this thing... After a couple of weeks happy usage, the SD card slot decides to spit out anything I put into it - it just won't hold a card no matter what. I didn't force the mechanism at all or insert a card too forcefully - it just popped out one day and wouldn't go back in. I've written to Microdirect requesting an RMA, they replied thinking I was requesting an RMA for an SD card so I had to correct them and let them know it's actually the card slot in the 1020 that seems to have developed a fault of some kind. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had an issue with the card slot on their wallaby, so maybe we can say they are notoriously weak or something, or perhaps I was just unlucky.
Regards,
Neil.
Update: My replacement 1020 arrived today and all is well, well done to MicroDirect.
Rgds,
Neil.

Trion Imei

Is it Possible to change the imei number on a o2 xda trion ? if so is it software based thing or is it Hardware as in do i need to buy a clip.......

BowFinger,
I am not sure if you expect any further replies to your questions because of your answers do not really motivate anybody ... !
However,
You should not attempt to change the IMEI number in your device because especially in the UK this is a very important thing (at least on O2 and Orange).
Whenever you make a phone call your IMEI will be checked to see if the phone was reported lost or stolen. If you insert an invalid IMEI number it will have just the same effect! The IMEI contains special information and is sorted in blocks. If you go ahead and change some values then you soon will figure out that network providers just can't identify your handset and do not allow you to call on their network.
You have 2 (legal) choices:
Work out things with O2
Change your network provider (as example switch to T-Mobile UK)
Cheers!
How would change network provider solve the imei problem,o2 have blocked it so t-mobile wont be able to unblock it. As far as i remember t-mobile lease mobile lines from o2 anyway?
The IMEI is only blocked (black listed) on the O2 network but not on others, meaning: you can't use the O2 network any longer but any other! As nice as it would be even for anti-theft protection - unfortunately network providers do not work together!

It might work like that in the US but in the uk,once the imei is blacklisted it is blacklisted on ALL networks. So the only place you can use the phone is abroad. Why do you think he wants to change the imei,so he can go back on O2 he has already stated what he thinks of them. He wants to change it so he can use it on another network.
So i am sorry to say it ,but you are wrong

Congratulations! I am glad to hear that providers work together in the UK!
Well, they must have 'joined-ventured' pretty fast because of I used to live in the UK until a couple of months ago!
Do they still SIM lock devices by default in the UK? This is one of the most things I hate here in the US ... Germany was better, they only locked PREPAY ...
Now with the supposed AT&T media net plan sweep a IMEI changer might actually be useful. I mean I'd love to upgrade to the AT&T Tilt (Kaiser) but am afraid they will transfer to the much more expensive data plan. I'd love to stick in am old IMEI number off of the many old phones I got lying around to avoid this. This is really a stupid rule it should be based on data useage not device type.

It has been like this since 1998 ,because of the dramatic rise in muggings for mobile phones, the idea being, it stops people stealing phones as they become worthless, but now you find they just unlock them, then sell them abroad
As for sim locking all the networks lock phones over here, unless you buy them from the carphone warehouse where they sell them on payg sim unlocked. But all contract phones are locked for 12-18 months depending on contract length, but they will unlock them for free after the contract ends.

Mda Vario ll upgrade

Hi all,
I know this question may have been asked thousands of times, but hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction.
Sometime ago, i found a T-mobile hermes vario ll and handed it into the nearest police Station..... yes there are still honest people about!
Anyway.. i wa told that if nobody claimed it after 28 days then i could return and keep it.
Nobody did claim it, so the phone is now mine, however, predictably the original owner reported it as stolen i presume and the phone part of it will not work.. presumably blocked.
Question now is..... i have an old t - mobile phone which i no longer use.... is there a way i can change the imei number on this device to reflect the one on the old phone which is 100% working and has been owned by me from new?
If so, how do i go about this, and is there a piece of software i can obtain?
Regards
SP
No, imei's are unique to a phone and its illegal to change...
Anybody else... any solution?
Thanks
SP
you wont find an answer to that question on this site i am afraid. Get a bluetooth gps and use it as a pda/gps but you wont be able to use the phone. I'll buy it off you if you want to sell it, it will save me using my xda trion as a tomtom

[Q] HTC Mozart Orange -> T-mobile UK

Alright guys I tried to search for this but basically I couldnt find the answer,
Anyway I might be buying an orange uk HTC mozart from *bay, and then I'll be getting it unlocked via IMEI code also from *bay.
My question is how will I go about de-branding it i.e. taking everything "orange" away from it and also how will I make sure the phone is up to date i.e. which rom will i have to flash?
Sorry for the noob-ness its just I'm coming from android so all this wp7 malarky is new to me!
Thanks!!
try to read some threads before posting new ones..I am sure you will answer all your questions that way.
Sorry to say I cant find anything that answers my question would appreciate if you could help me out.
I'm confused as to whether the mozart will ge the NoDo update on a non-orange carrier?
Thanks
To be honest you won't see much orange stuff on it! You can uninstall all the programs and after that its just the start up screen (which you'll rarely see as who turns off their phone) and I think one of the colours is called orange uk! But the above guy is right there are millions of posts on here about debranding your phone, I did it and went back to the original rom as the european rom doesnt seem to have english uk, only english american...
Thanks for the tips, but im unsure as to what you mean by the original rom?
Basically i dont know what version it will be until it arrives, but i want to make sure I can unlock it, debrand it and keep it up to date whilst being on t-mobile (which happen to share a 2G network with orange lol)
my advice is: get your hands to the phone first, buy an unlock code through some of the several sites providing it if the phone is locked to orange or another network. then pop your sim in, enter the unlock code you purchased and uninstall any orange apps if there are any installed on the phone.. plug your phone to zune and update it to pre-nodo, no-do depends on what version currently is. remember that you have to un-plug and plug again your phone to the pc for each update.. hope that helped..
I did the same thing, bought a Mozart from Ebay, Unlocked by buying a code from the internet and then debranded the phone by downgrading it and letting it update through Zune.
Still looking at getting one of these, but just reading issues about responsiveness on the latest roms i.e. screen response etc.
Is it an issue i should worry about?
BUMP
My mozart is coming tomorrow on Orange UK, and I will need to use it on t-mobile UK.
Please, please oh pretty please will someone help me unlock and debrand it?
Thanks
I bought a Mozart locked to Orange last week to use with an O2 sim card. All you need to do is get an unlock code using the IMEI no. (I used Unlocking.com, cost about £15), then get your phone on a wifi network and dwnload the HTC settings app from Marketplace, which will automatically configure your phone for web/MMS/texts etc. Then just delete the Orange apps by long pressing on them in the app list and assign the correct voicemail number.
Job done! Other than an Orange logo on start up, you won't know any different.
Got my mozart Yay!
HOWEVER
What the hell is with the banding?!?!?! Whenever the screen is any other color than black, there's banding!?!?
Banding? Oh dear - I think you might have a duff screen
No I think this is the issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1028496.html
Oh, right. Turns out I have that too, but hadn't noticed until now! Supposedly it'll be fixed in Mango, and it's no big deal so I can wait until then.
