[Q] Band issue with Vodafone Suresignal

At work we have a Vodafone SureSignal as the normal mobile reception is rubbish. SureSignal has been working fine for some months with all phones including my HD2, but the box packed up last week. We have been sent a new box which was not picking up my handset. I phoned Vodafone and was advised to change the band selection from 'Auto' to 'UMTS(2100+900)'. Sure enough my phone connected to the device.
However, I understood that that would mean it would only connect where there is a 3G signal, so I tried selecting GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100+900) and that worked. But now that doesn't work and I can only connect to the SureSignal by selecting UMTS band only.
Does this mean anything to anyone, and can anyone advise whether there is anything I can do that means I don't have to keep changing the band selection on my phone manually every time I enter / leave the office? Is the box not doing something which is why my phone isn't picking up the 3G signal (I have no problem with 3G elsewhere)?
Thanks.

Cannot connect to network

Hi guys, noob here, just got my first android phone (been with blackberry till now).
I got a chinese X12 dual sim phone because i really needed only 1 phone (had to carry around 2 of them).
Phone works great, only problem is with the mobile networks. It can connect to GSM networks but it won't connect to a 3G network. The phone has 3G capabilities, 3G is enabled for the required sim, it finds the 3G network but it will not connect to it.
Sim works fine, had it in a Samsung i900 on 3G (WCDMA) - i live in Europe.
The thing that surprises me most is that the phone came with android 4.0 instead of the 2.3.6 it was advertised, could this be the problem?
Data Enabled ?! have access points ?!

yes, data is enabled on it, as for the access points it has them too (althought i am only trying to connect to the voice network, not the data network)
Tried one more thing which is wierd: the phone works ok with another 3G sim from another provider, but with the other sim it doesn't connect (but it finds the actual network). And the sim that won't connect works on my old phone (the samsung i900)
The first sim that works on 3G on my new phone is from Vodafone (and they have both GSM and WCDMA in my country), while the other sim that doesn't work is from a provider that only has 3G (for both voice and data).
Quick update:
i found out i also get an "error" : invalid IMEI for both sims - it was this way when i first got the phone...
really strange thing with this phone, in settings > about > it says android version 4.0 but when it starts it has the honeycomb logo...
would appreciate any help, if it's from the missing imei's that would be good (or bad, depending on how hard is that to fix).
You can call ##778# to get into those settings. But be careful, those can really screw up your phone if your not careful.
The only reason i can think of, is if your phone only supports certain UMTS bands, while your operator is using different ones. Check out this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands.
For example, my previous phone HTS Nexus One came in two versions - one for ATT(UMTS 850/1900/2100) and another for T-Mobile(UMTS AWS/900/2100). Both were GSM, both had 3G, but 3G would not work on another operator.

phone has only WCDMA 3G network - i tried it on different carriers (on 3G and not GSM) and it works fine, connects to 3G, it just won't connect to this specific network (although it finds the network there, so i guess it has the hardware to connect to it).
could this be from the lack of the IMEI ?
FIXED !!!!
Got it fixed, the problem was with the missing IMEI codes, put them back in, works like a charm.
I used the tutorial here:

Thanks for all the replies you guys.

[Q] One Max Verizon 3G Problem on other network

Hi all ,
Could someone please help me with 3G connection on Verizon One Max on different network.
Long story short, I bought One Max on Verizon unlocked. I bought it back to Vietnam, using it on 2 different networks ( Vinaphone and Viettel). On Viettel network, 3G or HSPA works just fine. However, no matter what I tried with 3G Vinaphone SIM. ( setting correct APN, call the network provider etc ), data connection always says DISCONNECTED ( data button activated) but in Phone Info app, it recognize the bands (which is HSPA ). With the same Vinaphone SIM card, i popped it to another phone, 3G works just fine. My MAX is S-off with rumrunner, bottloader unlocked.
In day 1, Vinaphone 3G Sim works as well on the MAX. Just 1 time while I was in a flight, I switched the phone to airplane mode and after landing switching back to phone mode and 3G dissapeared forever. I've tired everything ( updating PRL, reflash stock, reflash other custom ROMs) still no luck.
I suspect the phone NV or carrier ( original CDMA setting from Verizon ) partitions were messed up for some reason.
The weird thing is, with the same SIM on ONE MAX 3G or data connection doesnt work at all but on another phone ( iphone, Samsung etc) it works without problem.
Please help me. I'm desperated

Yes, It didn't work. As I said above, I did all available methods but it just didn't work. I'm into android world for long long time. Currently I'm suspecting its the phone NV or Carrier Partition is messed up

[Q] phone wont connect to network (outside US)

in a first moment, the carrier signal was ok, but data wasn't working. so i called the carrier, get the correct APN, and the everything was fine for 5 minutes, for phone calls, data network. But suddenly signal was lost, and never got back. Factory reset, the signal bars still off, with an X. Tried to locate the carrier manually, but it doenst work. What can I do now? I will try another sim card to check if it works. How do i know the phone is carrier locked?
If its the AT&T version (presumably, since this is the AT&T variant section) it should carrier locked, unless you obtained the unlock code; or otherwise purchased it SIM unlocked from a 3rd party vendor.
On the other hand, if you were able to connect to the network at all, it is probably not carrier locked. Likewise, if it was locked, it would ask for the code when you inserted the SIM.
I think something else is going on. Even if it as SIM locked or bad SIM, I believe it should still read the network as being present. It would just not let you connect to the network.
Although, replacing the SIM is an easy and cheap thing to try. At least to eliminate it as the issue.

[Q] Verizon HTC One Max Hotspot Not working in Australia

Ive been using my HTC One Max in the states for 6 months and it works great. I brought it to Australia and am using it successfully on the OPTUS network with few issues. No 4G, but the H, or 3.5G network here is really strong. The only thing i need to change on it is the hotspot will not turn on with the OPTUS (local Cell provider) sim card in it. Actually, it wont turn on with the Verizon sim car in it either if its associated to an Optus tower. The Error that comes up when I turn it on is - 'An Error has occurred. Please Try again later.' Does anyone know a work around for this? Is it locked out unless it sees a verizon tower? THanks in advance))) Matt
