I just went to the Dangaard site and send them a mail asking for the latest Rom for my Qtek 2020.
Released by Dangaard. Just downloaded it from their site...
Didn't hack the site. :twisted: So there will be no excuse for any Moderator to remove info from this forum.
First the given password didn't get me any further than the login procedure. So I sent another mail, with my complaint and got the right password. I'm sure it isn't a mistake that they gave me this access.... :!:

Did anybody upgrade allready? On a Dutch forum is mentioned that the Rom update gives more stability and is faster. One stated just the opposite..... :evil:

I just upgraded (5 days or so) to T-mobile 1.60, it looks much faster than my Qtek original one (phone being the best part) although some minor bugs are there, some old, some new. I had to hard reset the machine more often to get rid of some bugs.
Any comment on the Dangaard upgrade Vs the T-mobile one?

Myself and a friend have updated our 2020's without a hitch!
I can't tell you much about the changes, since I've left my bluetooth devices at work, and we don't have GPRS in Greenlands. Everything appears to work just fine.

In the Dutch forum some mention freezez with the new update which seems to disappear when removing the ia_caller_id.exe from the start up folder. Others suggest to change this using a registry editor to change the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\init
You'll find a key named Launch149 with the following value
\windows\ia_caller_id.exe You could remove this entry. IA Caller ID will not be executed any more...

Just to be sure:
I upgraded From Qtek original 1.03USA, to T-mobile1-60 then to the Dangaard ROM. But in this last change, I encountered the country ID error, wich I had to patch.
Finally, my machine Shows:
ROM 1.60.00WWE
Radio 1.06.01
ExtROM 1.60.21
It's the same numbers for everibody? Or I'm missing some ROM upgrade? Should ROM and ExtROM versions numbers match?
From my experience there is NOTHING specific to Qtek in the Dangaard ROM, (Other than the splash screen) and I miss some nice touches from T-mobile's Today Screen, Battery and GPRS usage to name a couple of them.
Has everybody the same results? Is there an easy way to pick up the nice applets from the T-mobile ROM and put them in?

Which Windows version on your desktop computer did you use for upgrading?
I have read on other forums that the Windows98 that I have on my desktop is not enough, but that you need Windows 2000 or XP to get the job done...
Is that right or did anyone a succesfull upgrade using Windows98?
Still did't upgrade .... working.. even on Sunday And I want to know before I start. The threat I mentioned states an unusable device after upgrading with W98... but that was from T-mobile.
Have no experience with the T-Mobile Rom. Mine is still the original Qtek..

Sorry about your worries....
I'm using WXP PRO, so I can't help on how W98 is doing, but I assume it's more on the side of the USB support in W98 than anything else.
Good luck with your upgrade (if you do it finally...)
BTW I heard about two issues you may consider too:
1- use a direct USB connector to the computer, don't go through an USB hub.
2.- USB 2.0 seems to be better at the job.
Don't you have anyone near you with an XP system willing to share it for a couple of hours with you? You may take a CD with all the stuff and be upgraded in just one hour.

I'm having problem with Registry. After each soft-reset my changes to registry are restored from "Documents & Settings\system.hv"
What to do?

Secondly, I tried upgrading to WM2005 5 times but 5 times it gave me error "there has been a problem. Soft reset your device, put it back in the cradle, and start the update again.."

no proplem you can downgrade it back to WM2003SE i tried it many times to 2.20.07 chs and upgraded it again to win 2005 any other ques,,,?

in the computer <pc> and also an my ppc from settings>system>regional and language settings .... shoose english uk
and do rest to the pc and ppc and begain to upgread your ppc

Download ER2003Edit from ftp (/Win2k5/ER2003Edit_1_4_26.msi) and open your downloaded (not touched with xda2nbftool.exe) NK.nbf file with ER-Edit.
Now,
If you remember from whom your current NK.nbf is then just select this Operator from the list
OR
if you have your current ROM's NK.nbf, then open it with ER-Edit and see the operator name. Now, open your WM2k5 NK.nbf and select this Operator from the list
OR
if you don't remember your operator, then try each of the listed operators (by selecting different operators and running "HimaUpgradeUt.exe" for each selection)

Microsoft Voice Command, Soft buttons, Resco Explorer
Not sure if anybody has ideas on these three but here goes: I've tried installing MS Voice Command 1.0 which failed (I assume due to the incorrect installation location at the time) but now that I've got the RamDisk sorted I try to install 1.5 and it also fails. This time it's because the PPC finds a "previous installation" that must be removed. There's nothing to remove in "remove programs", I can't find any keys for it in the registry and the 2 files under Windows/AppMgr/Microsoft Voice Command cannot be deleted (STP3001 and STPD401). Next: In the "hot off the press" previews of the Official 2005 OS they state that one of the changes is two user-programmable soft buttons. While I've got the soft button I can't find a way to change them (phone isn't a useful shortcut on the today screen when you have the green button). I wasn't sure if this was a limitation on the OS release or on my part. Finally: I cannot navigate to the Windows folder in Resco Explorer 2003. I can see it under my device but nothing happens when I select it. Under normal explorer there are no problems. I hope I've explained these "problems" enough and really hope someone can shed some light on them. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the other problems, but the Voice Command problem most probably comes from the fact the Microsoft is including Voice Command capabilities in Windows Mobile 5 (official name now), and that some parts of Voice Command is already included in the OS ROM. Since it's not active, you're stuck with Voice Command not running.

Although I planned this almost a year ago, I finally migrated succesfully to WM2003SE. I decided to go for the only 'official' version: 2.20.07 as the main OS. Offcourse I used the WWE translated version by mamaich and buzz_lightyear.
The Ext_ROM is quite generic but does contain T-Mobile NL specific GPRS settings. There is NO T-Mobile skinning! And I love my self-made HTC Himalaya splash-screens 8)

Some files in My Documents (ie IA Caller ID Pictures and templates) are stored with system/hidden/etc properties that prevent Activesync to sync these files. Use (the enclosed CE Total Commander) to unchek all properties changeable to prevent this behaviour

I updated the diamond version to this one. Problem was to keep al my installed programs intact, but using sprite backup and manually copying the storage everything was back as it used to be. The interesting point is, that the PDA gives the extended rom from diamond as being installed while the new ones are seen in the remove program utility :shock:
Neither can I find the help files other than in chinese (that means blocks on the screen) so it isn't quiet complete yet. As far as I can see the OS is more stable and a fractional faster. Any help to complete the make over :wink:
Next: after a cold reboot there seems to be no ext.rom installed at all (as far as the program tells), only after a restore it's back. Does it has anything to do with PersaveBackup?
This morning I migrated to WM2003se, I bypassed the Country ID following the procedure written by dcs.
All seems ok but I have noticed isn't anymore installed "Graffiti" that I usually use to write. Anyone knows where I can dowmload the program ?

After some experiments I went back to the Diamond ROM because I had trouble with the phonesignal: no ringtones. And the pda hesitated a lot during routeplanner, problems with the mediaplayer, problems with the Ext. rom. I guess everything is to solve but it costs me a lot of time and most of all: I mist several phonecalls because i didn't hear the ring.
@henk-jan strange. there IS a ext rom in the package (ms_.nbf) should work as normal. one possibility: did you have the extrom unlocked when resetted the device? as the files are not readonly they are then deleted after 1st use.
ringtones & help are installed from extrom, so again same reason. as is performance while navigating.
I now have my wizard but 2.20 was way better than diamond
@Ed: I know there is a Ext.rom and it is shown in the explorer, but the device info doesn't show the Ext rom version :shock:
Going back to the diamond rom the same happens so it must be a problem in my Qtek2020.
Why do you consider V 2.20 (chinees) better then 2.06 (diamond)
Diamond was based of the 2.06 test ROM.
It was relatively stable, but also slow. And BT did not always work as expected (there was a patch for the hide&seek bt icon issue however)
2.20.07 is much faster, has all the BT support you need and has WMP10
But I must admit its also a matter of taste: I switched over when I had performance issues with 2.06. But those issues were there in 2.20 also (fixed by setting up cache for filesystem and the vulome priority hack)
About your ExtROM: The versio number is set by one of the cabs. In y rom that was the cab with the version number 2.20.904 in the name.
I cant imaging that did not run, but after all: all the issues you name can be caused by not installing from ExtROM in the first place.
I think the start program in the ext rom doesn't run. It is installed on the pda, but didn't run I guess.
Perhaps 2.06 is a bit slower but e registry hack and a speeding up utility solves that, but most of all: it works as it has to. I didn't get that with 2.20
So I take it for adventage. Thanks for your help.
Problem solved: playing with WM 5 and installing the DOC tool from Buzz_lighyear I changed the Ext rom and storage memory. Putting it back to the original state everything is OK now and the 2.20 is running smoothly on my PDA. Only frustrating to re-install all the programs one by one because sprite restores also the problems back.

transciber and stuff are simply not there, simply because it is a CHT rom that is translated.
The fonts improve when using cleartype.

for a few months after flashing my hmalaya with rom 2.20 the imput options is left with only keyboard.
Letter recognizer is missing and the othe imput programs eg word logic, resco keyboard,calligrapher cannot be activated after installation

It should work. Only language is english, but has all the locales that the QTEK ROM has.

Can someone who has flashed this ROM go to "Settings > About" on their phone and post the "Build" number that you see there? This is supposed to indicate which Windows Mobile 5 AKU was used in this ROM. For example, my 3125 (which I believe has the latest Cingular shipped ROM) shows "Build 14955.2.3.0", which I am told indicates it is running AKU 2.3 (kinda old - the newest AKU is 3.5). Anyway, just curious...
I've never been entirely happy with the call quality on my 3125, so I'm looking forward to finding a new ROM with some radio improvements. So, I would be interested to hear if anyone experiences any improved call quality with this ROM versus your previous ROM (especially if your previous ROM was the current Cingular ROM)...

The Top of the screen now indicates "Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack".

I've not had any complaints about the call quality in my area, but will definately be listening to see if this is an improvement.

krweatherl - Can you go into any detail on this ROM version. You stated that this is a 'Test' ROM. Is there a final release coming or is this version it? Is there an associated 'What's New' document? Any documentation would be great.
Just curious. I didn't want to flash to this ROM when a final version would come out a day later?

Build 15362.3.4.2 indicates Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.4 - giddyup!!! Very recent, must flash this ROM soon...
As to call quality - since I got my 3125 I have had a number of people say my calls don't sound as clear. Funny, I can usually hear them fine. Not saying I am surprised - I saw this comment in some reviews I read prior to buying this phone, but I decided to buy it anyway. But no regrets - other than the fact that some people have trouble hearing me (that's their problem!), I truly LURVE this phone... ;-)

Those were some interesting links. A few things we could/should see in this ROM as a result of AKU 3.x that caught my eye: stereo bluetooth improvements, an EQ in Windows Media Player, Internet Sharing instead of Wireless Modem, AJAX for IE, and performance improvements for IE (I wrote "could/should" since, as we all sadly know, carriers like Cingular have the ability to disable, cripple or otherwise hose up just about anything before the ROM goes out, and they seem to take advantage of that capability regularly)...
Looks like the .Net CF2 you are interested in may or may not be in the ROM, depending on what Cingular decided to do with it, since the second article sez it is a carrier OEM:

Cold boot after power on|off
Hello! Does anyone face with such problem - cold reset after every power off/on ?? I find this bug on my phone with Cigular latest test ROM and roll back to Qtek ROM, everything fine after that.

ROM cooked due to special request from blubster so that French people would enjoy a cooked ROM also.

This is the same build as dancer_69's first post, but it is in 040C French France with all of original Iolite's OEMs (also in 040C French France), not the HTC Mega ones.
This is basically your Iolite ROM with just an updated OS to WM 6.5.

Since I cook the ROM myself, I changed the bootscreen to one of my authorship with my nick in it and I do not allow you to use it or edit it without my consent. Those who don't like it, can do one of two things - either use another ROM or figure it out by themselves. Complaints or questions regarding that will not be answered politely. Credits go to ME. If you want your name in it, build your own damn ROM.

Inherent Windows Mobile bugs:
1- When you start your device, the Messaging application will start in a weird way. You can tell by seeing an "X" where the Task Manager should be and the Softkeys saying "Messaging" and such. It would appear that the device is frozen. No worries, just click "X". All is good.
2 - "Finger-mouse" not availble for build 23016.
Everything else works like a charm.

Guess that's the last time I'll be cooking a French ROM for anyone.
You can thank that to balthor80, a junior member who joined on July 17th 2009 with ZERO posts voting Reasonable on this ROM.
Everyone is intitled to an opinion, but I went to great lenghts to cook this ROM, manually downloading and replacing files and then a newbie here on the forums rates me Reasonable?

French didn't even have properly dumped stock or shipped WM 6.1 ROM, much less a cooked WM 6.5 one.
Will not remove download link 'cause this a special request made by PM and I wouldn't want something like that done to myself also without having said anything, so it stays there, but now I have no more plans to cook any other French ROM, thanks to this member.

I tried you rom, but it hangs on boot, on the second "smart mobility" screen (with the red text in the lower right corner of the screen).
I also tried your WM 6.5 CE OS 5.2.23016 WWE 0409 with Mega OEM Packages, and it does work.
I know that, sadly, and because of balthor80, you decided not to continue cooking french rom, but i wanted to let you know that what you cooked unfortunately does not work.
I have dumped my phone, and have all raws. I also have the EXT packages from iolite in french, from another source, if you ever decide to try again, and need them.
I am sorry about how the things turned out... And hope you will think about all the french people that may want to help you build us something amazing, unlike what balthor80 unhelpfully did.

I am uploading right now a nbh from my rom, which restores the phone to 6.1 french (version 1.09.406.4), and also EXT ROM SYS OEM folders.

I was trying to install the previous in english and there allready is one in french.

Can you confirm that this ROM is protected. I've got errors "Xipkernel's DSM not found" when I try to use nbh within Ervius Kitchen ?
More on my attempt :
I'm a newbie in ROM cooking so I've decided to learn and practice it.
I succesfully dump my stock ROM (wm61 20765 / xip 19965 locale 04C FRE) from my device and build my kitchen based on ervius one. Not tried to flash it yet.
My next goal is to port WM65 with OEM package for lolite. It's the reason why I would use billabongstaff as a reference to check and compare.
I've read Sous-Chef's guide and I'm ready to go from base WM6.5 ROM but I'm not sure that those guides provide a full step by step guide for porting WM6.5 with HTC OEM package in FRE locale and for lolite (320x240, 96DPI) device. I don't know how far away I am. Any help/suggestions (except giving up for the moment) ?

I would like fix this problem but my tg01 is damaged (i dropped phone). I came to how this can be done. Error can be removed by tampering with the system registry. System itself has entries that are responsible for convert + to 0 no matter whether it is a mozart, hd7 or hd2. OEM drivers are not 100% compatible with mango. So this issue is so hard to remove ... as I mentioned, I have broken phone and I can not test the changes, which will fix this error. everything I could do it to describe (one of many) a method to repair this error.

I've got a weird problem with this rom. After I flash it all I can see is a black screen, with battery status and clock on top, and few moments later phone restarts. I tried flashing it with both qpst and common downloader but it was all the same. I thought that maybe I'm doing something wrong so I flashed Miro's Tango final rom with qpst and this one works.
Any idea what the problem might be?

All major features (Phone, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth etc.) are flawless and there are only small bugs like disappearing SIM contacts import or useless camera. WP 7.8 seems to be much faster than WM 6.5 and it looks way better for sure. Now I still have to obtain the activation code somehow . Anyway, if you want to try this OS on your phones, then I guess this ROM is the best choice. Amazing job WojtasXda, this is a new life for TG01 .
