Skin case ? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Accessories

Are there any skin cases for the Wizard, like the iSkin ?
Ideally, with a slot on the bottom for the keyboard...

There is already a silicone case for the dopod 838 [WIZA100] unfortunately you can't use the keyboard with the case on. I'm using this case until I find a nice leather case or metal case for my dopod. it seems all the cases coming out are for the Qtek and O2 versions [WIZA200?].

where can you get hold of one of these skins

They are widely available at Wan Chai Computer Center in Wan Chai Hong Kong or Mongkok Computer Center. If I recall correctly they have Frosted White, Blue, Pink, Black [which I have] it's around HKD 100 [of course you can haggle a bit]. Remember this is for WIZA100 [dopod 838] and will not allow you to use the keyboard. See the pic...

i've seen the same thing, i think on ebay, for the wizard wiza200 but i doubt you could slide open the keyboard on that one aswell..

I doubt they'll be able to make a silicone case that allows free use of the keyboard [although I hope I'm wrong]. The slider seems to pose a big problem in case making.

Hi Bnycastro,
Would the Dopod 838 Skincase fit the Tmobile MDA Vario?

edojo: AFAIK the Tmob MDA vario is a WIZA200 model. So it wouldn't fit as the dopod 838 is a WIZA100 model [the VPA Compact and the Cingular 8125 are WIZA100s] Qtek9100/imate k-JAM are WIZA200's. Hope this helps.

Go to boxwave.com and make a request. They claim that if they get enough requests they release the product. Go to the link at the bottom to request a product for a device and then make sure "Flexiskin" is checked. It is probably a good idea to mention all the Wizard's aliases (MDA Vario, Qtek 9100, I-mate K-jam) so they see it is a device in alot of user's hands. I owned one of these for my Treo and it was outstanding.

Made a request, we'll see if they see any money in it...

Just get mine from eBay, cost me $26....but it works good
This case not only hold the PDA, but also hold two miniSD cards.

Just ordered one from Piel Frama: http://www.pielframa.com
For the Wizard specifically: http://www.pielframa.com/menu_qtek9100.htm

Yes that's been available for ages. I think what most of us here want is a skin case for the Wiza200 (instead of the Wiza100).

Ah, my mistake. Good luck, then 8)

man, why is it so difficult to find a skin for the TMO MDA.

yea and after seing this looks like we may never see one. the new phones got them already so we probably wont see one.

replace MDAII case to XDAII case

hi, does anyone know how to replace the mda2 case (i don´t like the black inlays) to an xda or i-mate case (or unlabled one) ... do they fit(i think so)?
where can i get spare-parts?
(there are no defekt devices on ebay)

they should fit i mean it's the same device all himalaya's should be the same
where you can get it ?
dont know that
also not sure if you mean case as in the front and back plates of the device
or the case as in what you put the device in and often have a beltclip option

i mean the front and backside plates, not cases for carrying around..
let me know if you find any outer cases/facias i need one too.
I will do the same.
If you're in Hong Kong I would be happy to exchange my case / device with you, because MDA 2 is rare in here and I like the style of it much more then the XDA 2.
spare parts are hardly needed also by me
most needed for me is an replacement knob for the scroll-button (T-mobile mdaII) - got a cut on it
Swap shop
Maybe there are people who would like to swap their mdaII cover for xdaII cover
I like the black bits on my mdaII
so, no one inhere with an manufactor connection or repair center ????
You might try here...
http://www.accordccs.com/
Club I-mate lists Accord as a service center... don't know if they ship parts though...
While we are on the subject of parts.. anyone got a spare black antenna cover?

Cases

In addition to the Vaja, Krusell and Brando cases. Is there something else out there that is not a leather case
Do you guys have a link for some cases?
I suppose with the case you cannot use the cradle, right?
What about the camera and keyboard?
I am interested in something like this http://www.expansys.com.gr/product.asp?code=115109&asource=IMATE_III_EU
Nutshell cases
I have bought a Nutshell case for my QTEK 9090. 2.5 Years ago I have bought a Nutshell case for my old and trusted XDA. Great quality cases, worth every penny . http://www.tuff-as-nuts.com
DjBac, Í've bought the following case:
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/3774/3614
You can still use the camera and when having the case "unlocked" you can even access your keyboard.
Henkjan
That's the case I am interested in too and found at expansys!!!
But how can you have access to the cam?
Thanx a lot!!!

Hi Siliconaddict,
Refering to the Nutshell case for your QTEK 9090, is it hard to pull the unit out of the case? Will your thumbpad slides out while u're pulling it out of the case?
I'm very interested in getting 1 for my XDA IIs.

Great quality.. One question though...
Do you have the plastic transparent film between the keyboard and the top of the phone or just on top of the phone?
I hope you understand what I mead!!
Well i am looking for a cese to but can't decide yet what i want exactly. I had a palm Tungsten T and bought a piel frama leather case for it. And it was great quality.
But i can't decide if i buy one for my MDAIII.
Maybe someone has a piel frama and an MDAIII and can tell me what he/she thinks about it.
greetz
case for PDA2k
I bought the Krussell Case from the Imate store out of Saudi Arabia.
I suggest the Multidapt product line, this way you can switch out the clips that go on you belt or your pocket.
Well i don't think that case would do for me. I am realy intressed in that pielframa case. But one thing i worry is that if u carrie SD cards in it.
Are those things not pressing on the screen of your MDAIII.
I don't want scratches on my screen. I am looking for some good screen proctetors to.
But first the case.

The link that Ishnohiwa provided, seems to point to a Piel Frama.
Personally I've had a Krusell Multidapt with my o2 XDA II for months and never lost one SD card (I always carry my SD 1GB and Sandisk WiFi 0MB wherever I go). That's why I'll be sticking with Krusell when I get my o2 XDA IIs in the next couple of days.
In terms of screen protectors, I've had a chance to try many but none can match the eXiM Screen Protectors!!They rock!
Here's a link to a review on the Exim Screen Protectors on TheGadgeteer and another one by my good buddy Mike on Mtekk.

Skin Case Mod

I have received so much from this forum that I decided to give my pinch of salt. Is not much, but I think it will be good to others like me.
I was looking for a case for my brand new 8125. It have to be light, compact, without a belt clip and give some protection to scratches and minor bumps. It will be used to protect the 8125 inside my jean's front pockets. I found that the silicon skin was the closest to my needs, so I got one from Ebay.
When I installed it I knew that it was perfect for me , but no access to the keyboard really started to bother me after 5 minutes. So, I took it to my work table and made a cut along the left side of the skin case and two small cuts down the edges of the case. That created a flap that allowed me slide the keyboard without taking the 8125 out of the case.
The mod took me 2 minutes to do, but 30 minutes to take the corage to cut my new case. Now my case is perfect. After 2 weeks of usage the only problem that I have is that the vol control is harder to use because the flap some times gets on the way. Not that big problem anyway.
Here are some pics. Hope that this help someone.
Diego
Here is the case with the keyboard open.
One from the back
I don't know what that thing is, but an HTC Wizard it is not
i believe its a great idea....I like my boxwave skins for my treos.
Oh and I believe he said its an 8125 several times!

@Equilon
It's a Cingular 8125, but I think it will work on any silicon skin case for the Wizard.
Diego
which one is it on boxwave.com
I want to get a silicone case from boxwave.com for the T-Mobile MDA, but not sure which one it is on the site. Does anyone know which one it is?
T-Mobile MDA Compact?
T-Mobile MDA II?
T-Mobile MDA III?
T-Mobile MDA IV?
T-Mobile MDA Pro?

O2 Orbit cradles?

Hello all,
I have ordered my "O2 Orbit 2" already - to replace my well used and loved Orbit (1). From the press pictures it seems that the Orbit 2 is extremely similar dimensions to the original.
Does anyone know if old Orbit cradles will fit the new Orbit 2?
Cheers!
Where did u order urs from? O2?

"Seems" pretty equal, but Docking does not fit perfectly.
I ordered one of these cheap Orbit (1) stations in ebay
and I had some problems to get the USB frickled in the right way
to fit in den port of the Orbit2. Anyway, it charges and it syncs.
But it's actually not equal to Orbit 1 fit.
See pictures here: PPC-Welt
Thanks Olioaglio - that's exactly what I needed to know. At least it fits, albeit with a bit of a wiggle by the look of it.
Underzone - I may have mislead slightly. I've ordered one, however it is through my companies mobile service provider, and not O2 direct. They told be on Monday to expect further delays - so its the same wait going through them as it is through O2.
Cheers!

PDAir are now offering a flip-type black leather case ... 1st I've found.
Probably not the highest of looks - I prefer Covertec myself - but cheap enough (USD$28) and will have to do until the real thing comes along (I always wanted to say that )
I just got my o2 o2(o2 orbit2) yesterday, it fits krusell Orbit Case for HTC3300 perfectly - except the hole on the back doesnt fit camera :-( but anyway i didnt buy it to use it as regular camera. So far i'm happy.
Anyone already found some cases like the one supplied? I'm looking voor a leather one the only one I found is this one http://www.beyzacases.com/cat_vs9.cfm
Boxwave are also selling cases (and other stuff): http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlcase/htc-touch-cruise-designio-leather-case_3046.htm
The credit for finding this goes to Dave Fields who first posted a thread here about Boxwave accessories for the Touch Cruise.

Some more cases here. Never bought from this shop.

I immediately found the belt clip case for the Samsung Blackjack. It is a great fit and a well protected case.
Hi,
I have an Orbit 2 and goy the Pdair flip case last week.
very good and came the next day after ordering
Only issue is the lights on the front are hidden by the case, but for me thats minor.
All other holes for buttons, 2 x camera etc are ok.
Would buy another.
Cost £15 with delivery
The case for the Moto-Q actually works quite well. I got the one that's made by Motorola.

I've been un touch with Krusell , They don't have a case for the HTC Polaris ,
but they promise that "Soon" they will release products for the HTC Polaris,

I tried it in the Artemis aluminium case from Pdair and it fits but is a little tight to close the front once inside, camera hole is wrong but otherwise this is the style of case I want, its saved my Arte from many a fall, the case looks battered but the device is still as new - Mike

There is silicone case for polaris ?
I've been very happy with the Bugatti cases I bought for both my XDA Mini S and original Orbit...
http://www.bugatti-mobilecases.de/html/index.php?lang=EN
Bugatti don't offer a case for the Orbit 2/Polaris yet, so I mailed them to ask when it will be available.
Their marketing department told me that it's not available in Germany yet, doh! So I sent them a link to the German O2 site, I await their response with anticipation...
Update: "The XDA Orbit 2 is available in combination with a long-term contract. The device without a contract is extremely expensive. The estimated amount of sold cases does not justify the expense at the moment. Hopefully we will have other possibilities to receive an original device. Please sign up for the newsletter. This seems to be the best to do at the moment."
!!???!!!
Piel Frama
I've been very happy with my previous Piel Frama case for HTC Touch
and I'm a bit quite disappointed by my Boxwave case (except a very good price for a general good quality)
However, in order to get the top of the top leather case for my new Polaris, I will order the new one at Piel Frama
For sure prices are high, especially in US$, but the appointment with quality is set !
There are lots of different thoughts and opinions. But i have never used any cases before. So any suggestions to me is welcome..
