You got a deal, if you got the phone $500 out of contract and the Laptop dock, though that would be by att dealers and corp stores the phone out of contract costs $500 the dock another $200 on top of that some have been said to charge $400 for the laptop dock if you wanna know about the non carrier version check with Motorola on their website or call them.

[Q] Ordering from a UK retailer , but in PAYMENTS

is there any UK retailer that could sell the sgs2 but in payments? I cant pay for the whole thing... it means paying lets say like for example 50 pound per month..
is there any retailer that might do that or accept such kind of payment? =/
please help me out as I really wanna switch from this Omnia HD of mine..
thanks in advance
P.S
I live in Israel and not in the UK, if that will change anything...
none..?
I'm not trying sound sarcastic, but would they not let you order with a credit card? Paying that off in installments.
huh? what do you mean?
I meant credit card, but in payments.. like paying 50 pound per month instead of the whole 440 pounds in 1 hit (1 month)
Last time I looked that's kinda how credit cards work, you buy it in one go and pay the card off as you can afford it.
weird because I'm always getting charged in 1 hit.. no matter how big the charge is..
Well of course you're going to get charged the interest on the full amount, but it's up to you pay down the capital. Even if you did find a UK supplier with a credit agreement, it would be the same and probably cost more. You won't get instalments.

I think the OP is referring to a hire purchase agreement? rather than the entire amount being charged to his credit card in one hit, and then making monthly payments to credit card company. At least, thats my take anyway. If I'm right, then I think he is out of luck, as most hire purchase agreements require some sort of credit check?

No idea how credit cards work in the UK but in Austria you get a monthly statement, to be paid immediately and in full, while in the US they seem to work more like giros.
But anyway, OP, if you can't afford the phone don't buy it. Consumer loans for something that isn't an investment (own flat / house, maybe a car) are a really bad idea.

Yeah that's what I was referring to, a credit agreement where they split the cost of the item and include interest. So a fixed amount each month until term, but even if he could find one it would cost a bomb and not for an overseas buyer.

Yep, it's even debited automatically from a regular bank account / giro, so it's only a credit card insofar as you only have to pay once per month. My point was, what a credit card actually is differs a lot, usually on a country-by-country basis.

Now that would make you think twice about buying. It's all too easy over here to have a dozen cards maxed to the limit and just pay minimum balances of a few quid. Not only that, they're always increasing the credit limit. One card I've had a small balance on, only a few hundred on and off has a limit of over £20K. Never asked for it.
just order the O2 50 min deal cancel data bolt on after a month, and then pay 10.50 p/m over 24 mnths, interest free no hassle

[Q] A query about Phones4u

I was planning to order the SGS2 from phones4u and the monthly cost was said to be £36.00 a month (O2). But once I have proceeded to check out the total monthly became £46.00 a month and I don't know why?
There was some optional insurance for £6.99 a month but I cancelled that. Can someone help me here?
Unfortunately I cant post links but go on the Phones4u site and choose the SGS2 - its the O2 300 mins, 3000 txt, 1gb internet one. Click go and take off the insurance.
Proceed to checkout and you will see.
It may be that Phones4U are offering £10 credit per month that will be added to your account. This is what's happening to my account.
For example I'm on the Orange Dolphin 40 plan but Phones4U give me £5 free credit per month making the contract £35.
If you're worried about it give them a ring and I'm sure they'll clear things up for you.
guys, i need to understand how phones4u does these tariffs... i was asking for the galaxy sII as well and we found the o2 deal that is now priced 27£ on 2 years contract....then they said that if i decided right away they would not only match it but offer me 20£ for the SAME!!! 300 mins unlim text and 500mb web x month...
i wanna know HOW do they sell the same that o2 sells but for less money, how do they make money out of this? they give me a 500£ phone for free.... is there any hidden upsell? what is their sales tactic???
p.s. i didnt get it since it sounds too fishy!!!
thanks

[Q] Best buy $50 gift card question.

Hello! can i use the $50 gift card on the note when i pre order it? Also, if it is released on the 19th, and ships on the 19th, wouldn't it make more sense to just wait until the 19th and buy it in store? I live in Dickson City, PA and i dont see there to many people buying the phone. thanks!
Also, i dont mind making my Mom take me to BB early on Sunday (the 19th)
Did you pre-order in store or online? This has been explained in the BB thread. When you pre-order in store, you put $50 down but get a $50 gift card right away. When you pick up the phone, you pay the rest and get another $50 GC. You can use the first $50 GC to pay for the phone. But I think you can't use the second GC because it is not available until you paid the phone. In the end, you pay $299 total and get a $50 GC.

Phone Freedom Q&A says you can pay for phone with the card (second) when you pick it up in-store. It's only when you order online that you have to use the card on a future purchase.

That's not my understanding. What I got from the post is that when you order online, you don't get the first GC at all.
Whatever the results, it seems in store is always better because those CSRs are more motivated to have the you instead of the online robot got the credit.

You cannot use the $50 gift card for the preorder. The gift card is populated at the end of the activation of the upgrade. So you will have to put up $50 for the preorder (in which you get turned into a $50 gift card) then when you come to upgrade, use the $50 preorder gift card and the $50 phone freedom gift card, then $200 on top. out of pocket= $250
I did 3 phone freedom gift cards today on other upgrades

Wait sorry but I'm confused. Do I end up spending $299 and getting a $50 gift card or do I end up spending $250?
Sent from my Apple Newton MessagePad 2100
I also have another question. I received a text when I signed up for the gift card, but not an email. Am I still eligible?

You get the phone freedom $50 card once the upgrade is complete. Then you pay. So you can use the $50 from phone freedom you just got towards the 299 which means you spent 250 for the phone. 50 for preorder+ 200 for phone

If you received a text, you're fine. It really just goes by phone number because that's what will be used for the upgrade

thanks for all the help so far guys. I just preordered it! I preordered the white one but... The guy said they may only get black. Oh well. Worst case scenario I get an awesome black phone.
My troubles never end with this phone! Now I looked at my confirmation email and it says "order total: $749.99" I ordered the 2yr one! That should be $299!!! I guess I'm off to best buy again tomorrow!

ATT - Get on contract or buy it outright.

So I know many of you all will be getting it on ATT and may be thinking the same thing. Just wanting to see what you all thought about the pros and cons of buying on contract vs off.
Here is how the pricing is
Status of contract. Price 1year 2 year
On $200 $320 $440
Off $300 $420 $540
thanks in advance.

My plan is to buy off Cotract 325.49 out the door I paid the same amount for my Gear 2 back in April. I will sell my Gear 2 on Swappa/Craigslist to get some money back. If you buy on contract you can pay it off at anytime but you will still owe the 10$ a month for the 2 years. Supposedly you can get it unlocked after 60 days on AT&T. I will not be using the SIM I have Sprint. I will treat this watch as an enhanced Gear 2
Buy outright. You might find that the SIM capability isn't useful to you at all and you hardly use it, you can cancel the $10 a month.
Also, if you buy on contract you have to pay $40 activation fee. Off contract, you don't pay that.
Well then.. look like im going off contract then. Glad you brought that up. It only 60 more to buy off contract might as well do that. I may be able to get then to take off the activation fee though.
the main question is if you want to receive calls and sms messages on your watch while your phone is not with you. if you don't then off contract, if you do then on contract
Wll that the main reason why I want to get this watch. I have my phone on me must about all the time but there are times where I wish I could leave it at home. Thats where the gear s will work well for me. If i can just pay off the contract price and get no activation free i may still get it on contract.

I saw on the website that the activation fee would be waived for cashing out on the watch. If you decide this route check it out . I just cashed out off contract AT&T I have Sprint I will figure out sim card company later

Maybe someone else can answer that I have not opened the box yet. I also have google voice so mine would ring from the watch I suppose. I don't have a number for the watch the sales guy said the sim is pre installed? what ever that means. But I have an IMEI and ICCID so idk.
