Anyone tried high capacy batteries for our Wizard? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Accessories

As the title says:
Anyone tried high capacy batteries for our Wizard?
I found one Ebay a 2350mAh battery and would like to know if it really expands the battery life a lot!
link

I have the extended battery for my T-Mobile MDA. Works great, gets about 3 days under continuous usage at work. Never had the normal battery, but with the extended it doesn't seem to have any battery issues I read about before purchasing my device. I got mine on ebay too, they're from some cheapo Japanese manufacturer, but working well so far.

what's the mah that comes standard with our varios?

I bought one of those 2400 mAh batteries and it makes the difference of a couple of days. It's funny, tho...the standard battery sits at 100% forever and then when it starts dropping, it appears to drop relatively quickly. The 2400 mAh battery, on the other hand, appears to drop fairly quickly until it hits 50%. Then it sits there forever before dropping below that. But anyway, the stock battery would last me about three days, the large one lasts about 5.

Thanks for the answers!
I checked but it seems that the extended batteries are also a lot thicker.
And you will get a new backcase because otherwise it wont fit...
I do like a good extended battery but I dont want my phone to be any bigger

An alternative might be one of those battery powered "quick chargers"....I saw a link for one on a .nl site somewhere in this section. Anyway, I believe it uses a AA battery and it appeared to have a wizard compatible plug. You could always keep a couple charged NiCad AA batteries in your pocket and if your phone battery runs low, give it a boost with the charger. Then you get some extra battery life without increasing the size of the phone itself.

i have one from lion battery.....love it.

got pictures of how much bigger the battery sticks out on the mda ? thanks in advance

It will stick out a fair bit:

I find the standard (1250mAh, not the 1000mAh) battery lasts for two full working days plus travel time worth of heavy use. I use it for listening to music for about six hours a day as well as working.
I charge it every two days and find this good. If I only use it as a phone it can go all week with one charge.

I replaced the standard Cellexpert battery with the one from Sino that is also rated at 1250 mAh and it seems to last approximatelly 50% longer than the original one. Maybe it is fresher or the mAh rating is more conservative than that of Cellexpert.

O2 uses the 1.25Ah battery as standard. Don't see the point in the 1Ah battery if the 1.25 is the same size...

Too Big
I bought one. but it's too big for my case. It works at least twice as long as the standard. I use it when camping or boating with a big waterproof case, were the size isn't an issue.
My standard battery works OK. as long as I let it discharge about 80% every couple weeks.

my mda dies (drops below 20%) after ~8-9 hrs of use. granted i'm on it a lot. i still dont understand how they could POSSIBLY rate this phone's standby time of 240 hrs.

cuz they turn the screen to nothing, set every shutoff timer to 1 second, and turn off all radios. try it! max battery life!
I would love more battery, but this thing is a behemoth anyway (for those of us who won't use a holster) and i'm not willing to go any thicker.. bah.. looks like i'll carry a second battery charged in a bag as an emergency go to.

I get about 24hrs of MP3 playback on my Wizard with the 1250mAh battery screen off and volume at 80%. It lasts more than a week on standby with minimal use.

next question. with the oem battery, did u guys charge it for ~ 4 hours on the initial charge, or did u guys charge it over night?

I charged it off the USB port for less than 4 hours and the batterylife is still really good.

Extra Battery

Where do we buy an extra battery for the HTC TyTN? (or Dopod, O2 Hermes...)
It is really frustrating that HTC doesnt seem to market any of these...
TyTN extra batteries are available
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=4633
or here http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=138243&asource=HTC_TYTN_VP
wow prices are arounr $50-60 + shipping, pretty steep. I think i will hold out for a while
TyTN battery available on eBay now
http://cgi.ebay.com/Replacement-Bat...ryZ75446QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I bought the extra battery from eXpansys. Be advised that this is a slightly different battery than the one that came with your TyTN:
Stock battery: HERM161, 1350 mA
Replacement battery: HERM160, 1300 mA
I can't honestly say if I've seen a difference between the two batteries, but you should be aware of the difference!

goestoeleven,
I ordered mine a few days ago and it will probably be the same battery. Does it work well on the TyTN and how did you get it charged?
Thanks.
I can only charge one battery at a time (the one inside the phone)...
Hence my rant on the thread about Cradles without extra battery slots...

I got my battery but it has been more than 24 hours and the red light is still on for charging. How long did it take for you? Thanks.
Initially I just charged it for a few hours. It behaved exactly the same as the original stock battery.
It's my second battery and I still cannot get it to charge -- the red light is on for days whether I try AC power or hooked into the PC via USB.
The battery cannot be bad so it must be my HTC TyTN. Any ideas what I need to look at in the battery comparment?
Thanks.

This red red light no charge business not just with TyTn batteries but several other phones and different battery types. Usually occurs with a problem with feedback from cells in battery to the charging circuit. Most oftgen there is no real fault with either battery or phone. It normally occurs if the battery is allowed to completely discharge. I am not aware of an easy fix, except I have faced the problem myself and with original battery. Also had it with another LG phone. On these occasions I got them to work eventually by several times plugging and unplugging charger lead and also taking battery out of phone for ten minutes then reinserting worked once. All a bit hap hazard but they always worked eventually and once going worked fine after that.
Good luck
Mike

I don't own this extended battery but I will have to guess with yes, same size.
My guess is based on the data sheet stating that a battery door is not required. I looked up other phone models and noticed that battery doors are provided for extended batteries that are too fat to fit underneath the phone's standard case.
Whatever happened to this thread... did the battery work or not?
Well if you wait a little longer WPCENTRAL.com was gonna make a review with a lot of testing on this battery for the HTC TITAN. Just keep checking the website of wpcentral.
Thanks, I will watch the site
+1 watching the site
Just to let you guys know I got my mugen battery turned up yesterday.
It had the 12h charge like it said and im discharging it right now. If you line it up to the oem battery it is a little thicker but fits in just fine, it does make the phone a little heavier but comfortable to hold still.
after a few days will let you know how I get on, sofar things are looking good
Battery seems ok but....
After Loading the Batterie, in 1 hour i have 80%.
It seems that the Batterie will Not be calibrate correctly.

QCell AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 / SII SGH-i777 3600mAh Extended Battery

Hello guys,
I purchased one of these and so far so good. I'm running an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II- with "ICScrewD Red Edition UCKH7" Rom
The battery is able to charge while the device is operational without boot loops.
After the first charge I ran cpu/memory/gpu stress tests serveral times during the day, kept BT, WI-FI and GPS on while on the road, streamed music, watch videos, set display to max and time out to 2 minutes to expedite discharge basically above normal use.. The baterry lasted 20 hours under those conditions.
After a second full charge the cellphone have been running on battery for 28 hours with almost 4 hours of display time and is showing 56% battery charge left.
The back cover fits perfectly. The only thing I would like to find is a travel charger for it. I bought a GTMAX charger but the battery does not fit in it. I can only charge regular size batteries on the travel charger.
Hope this helps others looking for an extended battery.

3600mah?! that's intense. Would you mind posting up a few picks to compare the thickness of the phone with that on vs Stock? Thanks
No problem. Will do once at home a little later.
Don't know if I want to trust another battery from Qcell as far as what capacity they rate it.
Bought a supposed 1950 mah battery through them and it turns out that it's really only 1650 mah. While the battery performance is on par with stock which is fine, if you buy it under the pretense that it'll get you better battery life, stay away.

Are you going to get some sort of bumper or case to go along with that? I'm interested to see if the battery door/cover from other 3000+mAh batteries would work with this one - like the one from the GT Max.
I'm going to use the SGP Neo Ex with the battery. I tried the tpu case for extended battery packs but it didn't fit. The back cover of the gtmax didn't fit my phone correctly.

nice bat. What about the first uses? should you discharged full and then charged till 100%? or you should use it normally till like 40% and then recharged full? (40% to don't degrade the battery life)

Sony external battery packs/chargers

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on Sony's new battery packs/USB chargers? I've got one of their older smaller 2000mah capacity ones (here) but am looking at getting a larger one to keep in my bag to charge up my various USB devices on the go.

There's a few different capacities available.
7000mah CPF2LS
3500mah CPF1LS
4000mah CPA2LS
Anyone had any experiences with the new charger battery packs? My 2000mah is good but takes ages to recharge for some reason. Also wont fully charge my Z Ultra - I used to use it on my HTC One X. I know there are cheaper alternatives out there but I dont trust a lot of them as I think they falsely claim certain capacities. At least with the Sony ones you'd expect they really do have the advertised capacities.
I have the one in the picture you posted (7000 mAh). That's my review on the Amazon page you linked to (the long one). So far I haven't had to use it just a whole lot--I've never used its entire capacity in one charge cycle before, as I'm pretty conscientious about keeping my things charged --but it seems to be at least close to the advertised capacity. There's a little light on it that blinks between one and three times to roughly indicate the unit's remaining charge, with three times being "good" charge. I did one time use it to add about 30% to the Z Ultra's battery, and it was still blinking three times, if that means anything. If you want, maybe I'll use it exclusively to charge my stuff for a day or two and let you know how long it lasts.

Thanks for the detailed review on Amazon Any idea what the recharging time is like on this when it is completely flat? I'm guessing if it is 7000mah then it should be able to charge the Xperia Z Ultra at least twice from flat which is pretty good when travelling or just heavily using it. Also good to hear that it outputs 2.1A for faster charging. I'm pretty sure the standard Sony wall charge only outputs 1.5A which means the battery pack should actually charge the phone much quicker. Most other brand phone wall chargers are typically only 1A - it's generally only if you buy a tablet that you get 1.5A-2A wall chargers.
The Sony battery doesn't come with a wall charger does it?
No, I don't recall it coming with an AC adapter. I don't think it outputs 2.1 A unless you're charging two things simultaneously, but it charges fairly quickly. If you're not using it, I'd estimate it would charge the Z Ultra from 0 in about 2.5 hours or so. Maybe a little longer.

Does fast charge impact battery life? - Answer inside!

I wondered my self that question and its seems that general consensus over the internet is no, however i made my own research and i saw there are couple of studies and the truth is - YES, fast charging reduce battery life and maximum cycles it can do. Quote "Charging and discharging Li-ion above 1C reduces service life. Use a slower charge and discharge if possible. This rule applies to most batteries."
So you should not use fast charge on a daily basis and only when you need it urgently. I also would not recommend wireless charging too. Use the good old charging cable. Hope this information is helpful.

In my opinion of coarse
A cellphone battery is no different than any other battery the slower you charge it the longer it seems to last cycle wize .
Kinda like the deep cycle batteries for marine usage I know lead and lith ion...
But in the automotive world We call a fast charge like this a surface charge.
Which isnt good for long life and or true voltages and or amprages....:crying:
But that aside the extra heat generated by quick charge is in my opin not good either....
Nor the heat from wireless charge.....
others say the heat is negligible vs the shorter time on the charge but again I do not like to quick charge my self as I put it on when I goto bed there is ample time for my device to charge through the night....My battery makes it through the day wonderfully...:good:
I have done a whole lot of battery studies and such and yes it does affect over length of life.
But in the end the battery will fail either way the ions will no longer flow between positive and negative poles and the decay process
started the minute they made the battery
But also you have to decide if you will have the device long enough for it to matter....
As most trade it in for newer or sell online So dont rob yourself of great features either.....:good::good::good:

Totally agree with you, it really depends on the usage and purposes from the user for the device. In general i don't like non removable batteries but unfortunately there is no flagship phones with removable batteries anymore so sad
I have read an very detailed article on batteries and its seems that slow charging between 20 to 80% can greatly improve the battery life, for example assuming you charge your phone once per day (24h) charging it to 80% instead of 100% can improve the battery life from roughly 2 years to 4-5 years which is dramatic difference. See the chart below.

Also temperature affect battery life tremendously too, chart below.
By the way, is there any app that can monitor Battery and CPU temp and set alarms similar to GSam battery monitor but with option to record full history and backup data in the cloud? I'm curious to see how will my battery hold and change in a year period for example.
Thanks for the infos guys, can only support your opinion. My HTC 10s battery was reduced in performance greatly after 2 years...i charged it every night with HTCs quick charger. So i killed it myself, i just figured it out too late. Now for my S9+ im using a slower 2A charger and only charge it every second night. Hope that will save me some battery life on the long term. Samsungs charger is my mobile option i keep in my backpack if im on the go.
