Shipped rom or Extended rom? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi dears,
which is the difference from Shipped rom and extended rom?
I'd like to buy an XDA trion from O2 and upgrade with Italian rom.
I saw there isn't available an Italian shipped rom, but there is Italian Extended rom.
Sorry, I'm new with Trion.
Best regards
Daniele

We call "Shipped roms" to full rom upgrades provided by operators or phone manufacturers, these upgrades contain the Operator logo, Radio ROM, Extended ROM, OS, etc..
Extended ROM is just a small partition on the device's filesystem, where the operator puts customization (programs as cab files, settings, skins, etc...). You can see how these customizations are installed in your device after a hard reset.

You cannot change the OS language with extended rom, you need a complete rom update to do it. And It is not possible yet as there are no complete (shipped) rom updates in italian. You'll have to wait until a italian operator or reseller releases it and someone uploads it to ftp site.

Thanks,
i have found this in Ftp/Clubimate site:
ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.zip
on this wonderfull forum.
Do you think It will be good for me?
Best regards
Daniele

This is an english rom (WWE). It will work on a trion, but will update it to english, not to italian.
You can find all the available rom upgrades (including this one) in the xda-developer's wiki:

XDA Trion..Is it possible to update with WWE ROM?

Dear friends,
I have bought an XDA Trion (German rom) on the web.
Is it possible to upgrade with a better WWE (english) rom.
Which is the better?
Can someone write me a link when I can download it?
Is it simply to upgrade this PDA?
In the past I have upgraded only Magician and Prophet.
Is it more difficult?
Thanks a lot

Hi, i have also an XDA Trion from Germany and i have loaded both ROMs that are available on the ftp site......the CHT 9000 eng.exe and the Tytn one is available for download but from my point of view the tytn rom is much snappier compared to the dopod CHT 9000 rom......
I having misalignment problem on the screen...
I hard reset and it's fine for 2-3 days now... Looks like a ROM issue..
I have a Trion with Dopod WWE...
Which one fix the misalignment ?
Thanks
No ROM cures the alignment issue AFAIK.

Are you sure?
Why you affirm this?
I am sure because there is only one person who has seen no alignment issues after flashing a ROM AFAIK. That was the HTC ROM and the rest of us have had issues.

Thank you.
i've spoken with italian htc support but they don't have any answer at the moment.
HTC have responded, it looks like it could either be a hardware issue or driver issue. Read more here
Hi i'll would like to by a trion.
But after i must change a os lang.
I have some quest:
1. What difference between ext rom and the dump rom?
2. where i can find ROMUpgradeUT.exe???
thx
Ext_ROM is the extras that a provider uses to customise the ROM.
Dumped ROMs have no purpose except to confuse us poor souls and give us hope that the modders on the forums can find a way to use them!

so it possible with the right program...
But where i can find the ROMUpgradeUT.exe???
Download any of the ROMs from here:

ROMUpgradeUT.exe is inside all the ROMs self-exe, just extract it using winrar (right-click) or cabextract.
Thx for reply.
Can i install the Tynt wwe version and after install the extended italian version...
For example
can i flash with:
me_dt_wwe_1182553_106_10303_ship
and after put:
HTC_TyTN_1.18.258.105_ExtROM_ITA
on the microSD ad after install autorun, exe???
Thx
you can, but your device will still be in english.
According to O2, the XDA Trion is actually due to be released in the UK next month, so at that time there should be an official WWE ROM for the Trion, complete with all the O2 extras.
Where'd you hear that?

O2 Trion and T-Mobile Vario II ->ROM upgrade to HTC TyTn

Hi all,
I'm quite new at ROM upgrading, so I apologize if any of my questions will be annoying to anyone.
I am about to buy O2 XDA Trion or T-Mobile MDA Vario II in Germany, and I plan to flash English ROM on it.
So here are the questions:
1. Will any type of ROM work on this brands of device ?
(Can I flash HTC TyTn English ROM on them. If not which ROM's can I use? Which one do you recommend?)
2. Will flashing new ROM unlock SIM ?
(If not, can you recommend me some good tool or method)
3. After upgrade to English ROM, will everything be in English ?
(Including all OS+Office apps. and keyboard layout, or do I have to set registry keys manually after?)
4. Which is the last known stable English HTC TyTn ROM (or O2 English) ?
(that it's enabling HSDPA also)
5. How to extract original ROM from device ?
(itsutils tool, or is there some better solution ?)
6. What is the benefit of Extended ROM ?
(does it exist Extended HTC TyTn ROM ?)
Already searched on forum, but still couldn't find answers to some of my questions. Anyway, I want to be sure before I do it.
I would appreciate any answers and/or advice.
Thank you all in advance.

No, it will not, but most probably your device will be Sim Unlocked.
If it is not, there is no free way of unlocking it *yet*, you can SIM Unlock it using imei-check service for 20pounds. See more info here:

Everything will be in english, but in German O2 trion you have an AZERTY keyboard (mapped to QWERTY after upgrade). If you want it to be AZERTY again you can change the layout using the keyboard registry hack found here:

Again, see this page for the latest roms:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Most of the roms come with HSDPA enabled, and if it is not, you can enable it using SetHSDPA /enable or fit4cat hermes tweaker, see more info here:

Info is here:

You can dump the original rom, but you cannot flash it back... most probably this will be quite unuseful for you.

Re: O2 Trion and T-Mobile Vario II ->ROM upgrade to HTC T
Thanks Pof for quick answers !
Correct me if I understood it wrong, any ROM (HTC, O2 English, I-mate etc.) should work with both brands (O2, T-Mobile) ?
How can I then fall back to original ROM (if I would need it for warranty reasons) ?
Is the Extended ROM must, or can I live without it also ?

That's right, you will get a Vendor ID when upgrading, you just need to run the upgrade utility twice without disconnecting your device. This is explained in the wiki too.

As O2 or T-Mobile has not released any rom upgrade yet, you cannot fall back to original rom. There is no known way of doing it because the typical commands to backup/restore to SD card have been removed in the Hermes bootloader. So upgrade at your own risk or don't upgrade if you pretend to return the unit

You can live without it, but generally it fixes some things (you'll not be able to do video calls without it for example). All the cabs are not needed and there are some customizations, skins, etc which are really annoying for me. What I generally do is "reset" before the ExtROM installs on first boot after hard-reset, and then manually install the cabs I want: some taken from TyTN rom, some others taken from i-mate rom and some others taken from Dopod rom.
Hope that helps!
Upgrading at your own risk ... that may be risky ... LOL
But i did it and its worth,...... still waiting for the new O2 ROM ...
I've written a wiki page with all this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeFAQ
Can I flash HTC ROM and then add O2 Extended ROM ?
Will I then have all O2 specific stuff, and O2 skins?
Did anybody already tried this combination ?
Thanks in advance...

Now O2 has released a new Rom, so if I change to i-Mate I can always change to O2-Rom
Is That correct?

The O2 released ROM is in german, if the original language of your O2 branded Hermes was german, then the above statement is correct and you can flash any rom without worries as you can always revert back to o2 in case you have to return your unit
Thank you
I have bought my Trion yesterday but it's in german, and I want in english so I found this forum which is great.
Thank you gays for the good work.
Can you provide some other forums or sites with information about Software for PDA and other stuff.
I will spend the entire week reading the forum.

to backup the existing ROM on your Hermes is not possible. The only solution for that is if your provider has made the original ROM accessible (please check the board for available ROMs)
In most cases - my best guess - you willl void the warrenty by re-flashing it, but the terms here may be different depending on your provider

[REQ] WWE stock ROM 1.90.401.1

hi, i'm looking for this ROM 1.90.401.1 (radio:1.02.25.19, protocol: 52.33.25.17U) for creating my own ROM, but can't find it anywhere and other ROM don't work (without HardSPL)..anyone help, pls..???
I too could use a copy of this if it exists as an official HTC packaged ROM. It would help me in restoring my screwed up Touch Pro thats CID HTC_032.
There is one but reconstructed here (thanks to jcespi2005).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2658446&postcount=2
I don 't know if there is any deference between shipped and reconstructed, but I think it would be nice to have the shipped one too.
i've seen that ROM (though thx for posting), but there's a program, which change the language to some EEU in countries, in which is Raphael sold..
it would be ok, but the program is "bad" (it causes some issues and the translation is "horrible"..;-)
if someone has original shipped one, it would be great..

My Raphael EEU came with a Sunnysoft app that would prompt you for the language to convert to. It was a WWE ROM though. Mine was in Hungarian, I just hard reset, picked English, and it just didnt apply any language tweaks.

Question about upgrade rom?

Hello, I am come from Hong Kong
I bought a Iolite and the rom version is 1.10.991.2 (41889) Traditional Chinese
I want to change the rom to English one, can I change it to 1.09.401.3 - WWE (Europe)?
I afraid it will break my phone.....
THANKS so much!!
Only possible if you use hard-SPL, but unfortunately there is no hard-SPL available for Iolite at this moment.
So you'll have to wait a bit..

The ROM is fine. I have done that to my China phone I bought in Shanghai. It had a Dopod CHS ROM. I overwrite it with the WWE Europe ROM found in this forum and used after since. I hate the TomTom Button and hope to find a way to use it because there is no China or HongKong map found in TomTom.
EN! I'm wait for Hardspl long!

Download this file from this forum,
RUU_Topaz_HTC_WWE_1.39.405.2_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.20t.25.10_3.43.25.19_Ship.exe
Connect your computer to your Topaz.
Execute the file, that is it.
There is a newer ROM file for Asia, it has newer radio but there is no improvement found.
