Is there any way to fix this?

If it works in bootloader mode, you can attempt a reflash: you don't need an Activesync connection to flash the ROM. Just stick the phone in bootloader mode, switch off USB on your computers Activesync and run the installer. My advice would be to keep trying until it flashes successfully.

Which Rom would you try, I have the following currently,
HERMIMG_CDL-WWE_1.20.305.4_Ship.nbh
HERMIMG_Dopod_1.23.707.4_SHIP.nbh
hermimg_QtekNOR_1.18.255.3_Ship.nbh
Currently on the unit in Bootloader it shows
HERM200
IPL-1.01
HERM200
SPL-1.04
Thanks again for trying to help, I really appreciate it.

You can flash whichever you want, complete list of roms is on the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
Let us know if a rom upgrade fixes the bad blocks. I've seen it on 3 or 4 devices already, so I think it is quite common although number of bad blocks seems to vary depending on the device.

So far no Luck, but I will continue, as I am using HDD USB Monitor, and trying everything up my sleeves,
BTW this is what is on my screen if I just try to start the unit regularly.

Very weird... haven't seen anything like that before  :?
Can you do a rom upgrade sucessfully? if not, which error do u get from the RomUpgradeUt and what do you see in HHD USB Monitor?

No Doubt, this one is gonna be a little tricky,
I can not get it to upgrade, it gives me the error 222, or error 260 every time.
HDD Monitor, well have a look at the log from it.

Can you attach the log in text format? (export option in menu, then save as text without utf8).
Thanks.

OK here it is

mmm... shows almost nothing... is it a "full view" decode (second tab)?
Bootloader is still "safe" i gues... right? cos i can't see any bootloader output on the attached log.

All right this is the full one

mmm.... you don't seem to get any output from the device: :!:
- "task 32" command should return "Level = FF"
- "info 2" should return something like "HTCSQTEK_001.=.HTCE"
- "info 3" should return a big block of data encapsulated in HTCS / HTCE strings and starting with "H.E.R.M.2.0.0".
What happens if you put the device in bootloader mode and type those commands yourself using mtty?
Have you tryied running "set 14 0" and "task 8" and let de device boot?
Does this happened after a rom upgrade or where you doing something weird to the decvice? or it just happened without doing anything after normal phone usage?

A silly question, I know, but have you tried flashing the rom without the monitor, or even on a different PC?

Try flashing directly from microSD as described here and let us know if it fixes your problem:

Hey Pof, or anyone, can you creat just a new bootloader nbh for me, as I am so close right now.

Have you tried flashing HERMIMG.nbh from SD Card?
Instructions here, let me know if you need more help:

Hi pof,
In bootloader I don't see this menu you mentionned on the link but only the three colors (red, green and blue)...
What am I doing wrong ?
Regards,
Giuseppe
Try formating the miniSD card in FAT32, if it doesn't work try in FAT16.
It works for the FAT32.
It say upgrade completed but when I reset it still stay blocked on the white htc screen...
Any other advices ?
Regards
Bootloader command "task 28" formats NAND flash (Storage). I don't know if the bad blocks you have are in NAND or not, but you may give it a try... output should be something like this:
Code:
USB> task 28
Storage format start
Write Nand Success
dwBlockToWrite = 13
Storage start block: 462
Storage Total block: 474
Total Bad Block in CE: 0
NeedToEraseBlockStart: 475
Storage format success

I have sim and cid unlock my phone with simunlock3.0 by pof. but I randomly meet a whitescreen. so I go the local shop in japan for repair. They said i had change my phone ROM,so lost warrant. I restore the original rom with the shipped rom file by softbank. BUT SITUATION is MORE BAD now. all the front key is out of work. I check my phone by mtty , use command as: task 32 , info 8 , task 2a... the message show that, there 4 bad blocks. and those command fix 3 of them. still , bad block 322 (0x142) can not be fixed? My question is how to fixed it ? btw. now still whitescreen, out of front function key.

yes , you are right. I has noticed this poste . but , when download it and install , I fail to do upgrade the SPL. I guess , due to position of bad block, it is in first (the bootload )partition. I am look forward for more help. Thank you for help and idea.

You simply have a bad block. That's it.
You can't fix something that's actually broken.
so , the question is gonna to , how to avoid to store data in this block? how to marked this bad block? and reinstall the first partition(bootloader?)? any more idea?
thank you!

I could use some help. I am well and truly hung.

And that I should be able to install this with

I am able to get into the bootloader Power-Okay-Reset
When I select the 1.11 Load Option it results in:

You may be making this far more harder for yourself than you need to. If you're able to get into the bootloader, then just flash your standard carrier ROM from there while attached via USB.
I just found my standard carrier ROM here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_DumpedRoms
Am downloading now.
That doesn't work it is a collection of 3 .raw files.
The advice "apply a standard rom" is harder than it might appear.
Where do I find a Rogers HTC Hermes ROM? erk!
I am now at trying to reconstruct an NBH using the following: (tell me I am being silly and there is an easier way!)

Can not flash HardSPL v9 and Radio

Hi All,
I got a weird problem on my 8525 recently.
Two days ago, in a sudden, my 8525's radio stops working, and the system turned very slow on every actions.
In fact, there are some mal-functions recently, like my email account disappeared itself, and phone signals is not goot, etc. But i did not pay attention to that, coz too busy. But I think that's some signal for some problem now.
After I got home, i tried to re-flash a new radio rom, but it failed, error 262.
Also, I can not flash hardspl v9, but v7 is successul.
I can flash any OS ROM, they are all working fine.
Now when starting, there is no radio at all.
Checking of nand flash returns some bad blocks, i tried to use task 2a and task 28 to repair. But no matter how i tried, there are still on bad block can not be removed. output as below

use V7 then
yes, i can use v7 now.
but i am wondering the reason that i can not flash v9 is same as that i can not flash my radio..
my radio rom can not be flashed, no matter with which version.
hey,
ich got the same problem too. i don't know any answer...my hermes radio didn't work since 1 month...i tried so much but i can't flash the radio. but i have no bad blocks on info 8.
Hi,
i have a similar problem.
Tried to use task 2a but without success.
I tried to upgrade the radio but it doesn't work.
Os is updatable instead. I flashed schaps rom without problem.
Wiki only says to flash the radio rom..
Any help?
Try flashing one of the official roms as they tend to include the radio in them. See if that fixes it.

Here is Guide: How to repair bad block and reset call timer

OK, I had done some researches on how to repair bad blocks and how to reset call timer on my Herm. There are many threats asking the same questions but the answers seem not very clear. I tried to read all related threads and tried many times for two days to solve these issues (perhaps I am not clever enought - that's why it took two days), I finally had done it. This is not a new thing but I just would like to make it easier for those who are not sure how to solve these problems yet. Just ignor it if this is not helpful or mod can feel free to delete ths threat.
Please note that this is not the only way to solve it, you may want to share if you have better ideas.
1. How to check and repair bad block
a). Please make sure that you are SuperCID and you understand the importance of hard spl as this maybe a dangerious operation for you.
b). Downloan Mtty.exe file in the attachment below and save it to your computer.
c). Open connection setting of your activesync or WMDC on your PC and disable "Allow USB connection".
d). Put your divice into Bootloader mode and connect to your PC via USB
e). Run Mtty.exe from your PC
f). Selec "USB" in port box and then click OK
g). Press Enter once or twice to let the screen dispay "USB>" or "CMD>"
h). Type "info 8" to check if your device has bad blocks. And if there are any,
i). Type "task 2a" to fix the bad blocks.
That's what I had done and solved...
2. How to reset call timer (if you want to know reason why you want to do this, please do additional research)

b). Make sure that you have SPL 1.10 Olipro (this one works for me, higher version seems not work)
c). Downloan Mtty.exe file in the attachment below and save it to your computer.
d). Open connection setting of your activesync or WMDC on your PC and disable "Allow USB connection".
e). Put your divice into Bootloader mode and connect to your PC via USB
f). Run Mtty.exe from your PC
g). Selec "USB" in port box and then click OK
h). Press Enter once or twice to let the screen dispay "USB>" or "CMD>"
i). Type "rtask b" and Enter then it should show result "0"
j). then type "ate1" and Enter then it should show result "0"
k).then type "atv1" and Enter then it should show result "OK"
l). then type "[email protected]=270f,270f" and Enter then it should show result "OK"
Restart you PPC.... you call timer should be 00.00.00
Enjoy!!!

Well, I am not an expert on this, but as long as I know sometimes these are factory marked bad blocks (someone had mentioned this somewhere) so that it is normal. Please let me know if there is any effection of this bad block. If not, it is normal. For my problem, it randomly did hard reset or sometime soft reset stucks at bootscreen.

Ah, I did not have this problem. My phone started counting after reset. Did you follow the correct procedure? Sorry, I do not know how to resolve this too. Maybe others are able to share..
I noticed about the history of ROMs you used in your signature that you used to go back to official ROM and then go back to Schap 4.31 and now your current ROM is Faria. Can you share why did you back to Schaps 4.31 and then Faria?

The reason that I went back to official ROM is to solve HARD RESET and STUCK-AT-BOOT SCREEN problem and the reason that I went back to Schaps ROM because I like his first boot screen picture (small blackHTC logo). finally I'm using Faria ROM as this is the most stable ROM.

Can you let me know what device are you using? I had tested this with Hermes only and it may not work for other devices.

I see your problem now. You missed one commend "ate1" before starting "atv1". Follow the below command exactly or the instruction in the first post, you may get rid of it:

Thanks a lot for that lyhuoth, it's very handy to have these things collected together.

This requires mtty.exe, which is Windows-only. Is there something like mtty for linux?
Searching the forum turned up nothing obvious, but I did stumble across pof's HTCflasher which has a "enter serial prompt" option.
On the other hand, everything I read suggests that mtty is just a serial-port command line interface, which suggests to me that using minicom might be sufficient...
Is HTCflasher or minicom a suitable mtty substitute under Linux?

So, it says quite clearly on the pof's HTCflasher thread that it "replaces mtty"... Also, what I hadn't seen earlier, was the wiki entry for the Bootloader which says to use "mtty under Windows or minicom/cu under Linux"...
Anyway, I've managed to run a bad-block check using HTCflasher...
